"Hey, Kaze," Ananias greeted as he and Kaze just happened to pass each other by.
Kaze returned said greeting with a small, calm, and respectful bow. "Greetings, Ananias. Lovely weather we're having today, don't you think?"
Ananias nonchalantly shrugged. "Better than usual, I guess." He then noticed the large parcel of freshly made bread that Kaze was carrying. "Whatcha got there?" he asked, nodding towards the item in question as he did.
Kaze looked down at bundle and sighed. "A gift… one of many, unfortunately."
Ananias cocked an eyebrow and crossed his arms at this in surprise. "Why's that?"
Kaze shook his head. "I do not fully understand it myself, but… whenever I seem to make my usual rounds throughout the kingdom, there is always at least one fair maiden who seems to approach me and offer me something."
Ananias nodded understandingly upon hearing this. "Ah, so you're popular."
"It flatters me that you think that," Kaze replied, "but for what, I cannot possibly imagine."
"Ah," Ananias said with a sigh and giving Kaze a sympathetic look, "yeah, that'll definitely make you popular, alright."
"Hmm?" Kaze innocently asked. "I do not seem to understand."
Ananias shook his head and waved his hand reassuringly. "Don't worry, you don't really need to. Knowing you, it's not something that you could fix anyway."
"Hmm?"
"Just… forget about it." Ananias once again eyed the parcel in Kaze's arms. "So, you just take whatever's being offered to you all willy-nilly like that? You never just… turn the gift down?"
"Well, I see no real reason why I shouldn't," Kaze answered. "I mean, if they wish to offer it to me, then who am I to refuse?"
Ananias sighed, shaking his head. "Ah geez. You poor guy, you."
Kaze cocked an eyebrow in surprise. "You sound as if you have learned from experience."
"A bit," Ananias reluctantly admitted.
"So you've been in a position similar to mine in the past?"
Ananias placed his hands onto his hips and hung his head awkwardly. "A few times, yeah. Though, not to the extend you're in."
Kaze raised an eyebrow curiously. "Hmm?"
Ananias heaved a heavy and awkward sigh as he folded his arms and averted his eyes to the side. "Well, for starters, I was never as eloquent and as gentlemanly as you. Still not, honestly. And with my personality, they usually forget about me after actually talking to me for a bit."
"I… I see," Kaze said, wondering where exactly this conversation was heading.
"But enough about that," Ananias said. "Look, if you're not going to just turn these gifts down then what do you plan to do with all of this stuff? You're not hoarding it all in your room, are you?"
Kaze blushed and averted his eyes to the side a bit upon hearing this. "N-No. Of course not. That… that would wasteful."
Ananias gave Kaze an incredulous look. "Kaze…."
Kaze's shoulders fell as he let out an exasperated sigh. "... Yes, I have been… hoarding it all in my room, as you say." When Ananias gave him a pitiful look, he quickly added, "But what was I supposed to do? Throw it all away as if it were nothing? At the very least, that would be extremely wasteful!"
"Well then, just give it away if you've got no plans on using them," Ananias replied.
Kaze looked down at the parcel in his hands solemnly. "Easier said than done, I'm afraid."
Ananias cocked an eyebrow in surprise. "Really? You can't think of anyone who would want to take any of this stuff off of your hands?"
"Well, it is a bit of an awkward situation, wouldn't you say?"
Ananias rubbed the back of his head. "I guess."
"…."
"…."
"…."
"…."
"…."
Ananias sighed and offered his arms out. "Do you want me to take them off of your hands then?"
Kaze let out a small gasp of surprise. "You would do that? For me?"
Ananias nodded. "Sure, I mean," he shrugged, "I can probably think of better things to do with all of it then just leave it all around and collect dust, right?"
Kaze nodded. "Yes, I suppose you would, wouldn't you?" He then stopped for a moment, before saying, "But you do not have to do it if you truly do not wish to, you know that, right?"
Ananias nodded. "I know. My offer's still on the table though."
Kaze smiled and let out a relieved sigh. "Then it is settled." He handed Ananias the parcel of freshly made bread in his arms. "Thank you, my friend. I shall not forget this favor that you have done for me!" He then quickly ran back to his quarters in order to better sort out all of the gifts he had received that were lying around in his room.
Ananias looked down at the bundle of bread in his arms for a moment before looking back in the direction Kaze had run off to and muttered, "You know, despite what he said, he was still pretty quick on accepting my offer." He then took off a piece of bread off of one of the many loaves and popped it into his mouth. "Now… one question still remains. Just what I am going to do with all of this stuff?"
