"Oh, Ananias!" a sickeningly sweet voice rang from a distance, causing said man to stop what he was doing to look toward where the voice was coming from, only for him to find Charlotte daintily running towards him with a great, big, happy smile on her face and what looked like a lunchbox under one of her arms. She smiled and giggled sweetly once she had finally reached him. "How are you doing, you handsome devil you!"

Being used to being complimented for his looks, Ananias barely batted an eye at Charlotte's flattering words and simply nodded and let out an indifferent grunt as he nodded his head and said, "Hey, Charlotte. I'm doing just fine, thanks for asking."

Charlotte giggled and waved off his thanks as if it were nothing. "For you, dearie, anything!" She then let out a surprised gasp, feigning having just remember something that had previously been momentarily forgotten, and added, "Oh, and speaking of 'anything'..." She took out the lunchbox that had been under her arm and meekly showed it to him. "Ta-da! A specially made lunch, just for you!"

Ananias' eyes widened in surprise, his eyes darting between Charlotte and the supposed lunch for a moment before slowly taking the box from out of Charlotte's eager hands. "O-Oh, thanks, but you didn't have to do that."

"Oh, but I do!" Charlotte insisted. "After all, you do so much around here, and for little to no reward!"

"Well, I mean, I get paid to be a retainer, so that's something," Ananias mumbled.

"Oh, hush, you," Charlotte said. "You do far more around here than just simple retaining! Why, you do work that only servants should be doing, and with little to no compensation for all of your extra work!"

"Well, I mean, they're just simple chores, you know," Ananias innocently pointed out. "And it's not like I've made an official contract to be a servant around here, so me not getting paid makes since, you know? And besides, we've got to spend our time doing something around here whenever we're not training or going out into battle, and chores are sort of the perfect time waster -"

"Oh, would you shut up already?!" Charlotte practically screamed. "I'm trying to be nice to you here! So just shut up and take it!"

Ananias blinked in both shock and confusion. "E-Excuse me?" he sheepishly asked.

Realizing that she had let her impatience and temper get the better of her this time around, Charlotte quickly clapped her hands over her mouth and laughed nervously. "I... I mean, you're just so humble. Please, do all of your friends a favor and simply take some credit every once and a while, okay? It worries us a bit, how you try to constantly try to downplay all of your deeds and accomplishments. It would take a lot out of all of our minds if you allowed us to appreciate you every once and a while."

"Huh," Ananias said. "I guess I do sort of have a nasty habit of doing that, do I?"

"Yes, of course!" Charlotte concurred, gently holding onto one of Ananias' shoulders and arm and drawing her body closely to his, causing him to feel her warmth and make him blush somewhat uncomfortably. "And we, as your friends, want nothing more than for you to just be happy and healthy." She leaned her lips towards one of his ears and whispered, "So just eat the lunch I made specially for you and start realizing just how great of a guy you are, alright?" She then backed away from his ear and gave him a small smile, wink, and giggle, causing for Ananias to gulp nervously before nodding his head slowly.

"Y-Yeah, sure, I'll make an effort to do just that," he stammered. He then shook his head and quickly added, "I mean, I'll make an effort to do the second part, because eating a lunch is pretty easy at our age, I mean, ah, um..."

Charlotte giggled and ruffled his hair playfully with her hand. "You really are just the cutest, you know that? If we weren't at war right about now," she tapped her finger against Ananias' nose, "I would definitely consider you."

Ananias swallowed a big lump in his throat and nodded, "Oh, really?"

Charlotte nodded innocently. "Uh-huh." She then began to back away while waving goodbye to Ananias as she did. "Well, I'd better get back to training. If I keep at it, maybe someday, I can be just as strong as the rest of you."

"I'm... I'm not really that...," Ananias quickly stopped himself and shook his head, "I mean, yeah, sure, and thanks again for the lunch."

Charlotte winked at him. "You're very welcome." She then continued to walk away until she was forced to turn a corner before using that very corner to take one last look at Ananias and chuckling to herself triumphantly. "Heh heh, all according to plan. He fell for it hook, line, and sinker. If I manage to keep this up, that massive family fortune that merchant family of his no doubt has will be mine for the taking. I almost actually feel sorry for him. Almost."
