"Hey, do you need any help with that?" Selena asked, showing a rare instance of concern for her unfortunate shopping assistant for the day. "You look just about ready to tip over."
"Yeah?" Ananias gruffly grumbled, as he attempted to rearrange the plethora of items that he was currently holding in the hopes of placing them in a more comfortable position for him to carry them. "And just whose fault is that, huh?"
Selena scowled at him. "Humph! Well, excuse you! And just for that, it's your fault."
Ananias sighed as he rolled his eyes. "Okay, alright, I'm sorry. Now could you please give me a hand with all of this stuff?"
"Well, since you asked SO nicely...," Selena sarcastically remarked before taking some of the items off of his hands.
"Thanks," Ananias dryly said.
"Oh, quiet you," Selena countered. "Maybe this'll teach you to be less snippy with people."
"Right, because I'm the snippy one in this relationship," Ananias muttered.
"What was that?!"
"N-Nothing."
Selena leered at him. "Don't you lie to me," she warned.
Ananias gulped before averting his eyes to the side, turning away from Selena's intense gaze. "It's just... how am I snippy one?"
Selena rolled her eyes at Ananias' lack of self-awareness. "Please! Just because you say snippy things under your breath doesn't mean you don't do it! Honestly, Ananias, you are like, the most self-aware and the most non-self-aware person I've ever met! I mean, how does someone know their own limitations so well, but also NOT realize their own flaws when someone finally points them out?"
Ananias simply shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe hanging around such colorful personalities keeps me from thinking too much about the smaller flaws in my own."
"Oh, right," Selena scoffed, playfully bumping Ananias' hip with her own before giving him an amused smirk. "You can be so full of it sometimes."
Ananias couldn't help but let out an amused chuckle in return. "Sorry, I'll work on it."
"You'd better." Selena looked down at the stuff she was carrying for a moment before curiously rummaging through it. "So, what did you get this time?" She raised an eyebrow in incredulous disappointment as she held up something that she clearly didn't buy. "Really?" she asked dryly. "A boomerang?"
Ananias' face practically lit up as he gave her a childlike grin. "Isn't it so cool? When you throw it just the right way, it comes back to you!"
Selena sighed. "I know what a boomerang is, I just...," she shook her head as she placed it back down where she had found it, "I didn't realize that you would use your money to buy yourself a toy."
"Actually, the merchant said that it's a pretty serious sport in some areas."
Selena scowled at him. "Oh, I'm sorry, were you planning on professionally getting into boomeranging?"
Ananias blushed as he averted his eyes away from her challenging gaze. "N-No," he admitted.
"Yeah, that's what I thought." She let out an exasperated sigh as she shook her head. "And here I was, thinking I finally had an adult to talk to from home. But no, I just had to help you realize how much of a little kid at heart you really were, and now you're buying toys for yourself."
"Says the girl who always buys pots for who knows what," Ananias muttered.
"See?! See?! You're doing it again! Stop that!"
"Sorry, but in my defense, you just make it so easy for me."
"Oh, that is it!" Selena cried, rummaging even further into her pile to see what she could scrounge up that wasn't hers. "Just for that, let's see what else you bought that we can make fun of!" She picked one up. "A yo-yo? Seriously? Are you so lonely that the only toys you buy are the ones that'll come back to you?"
"Well," Ananias rummaged hastily through his own pile, "how many dresses do you even need? Don't you already have, like, a hundred of these?"
"Ha! Spoken like someone who clearly doesn't understand the nuances of fashion!" Selena poked around again. "Oh, what, marbles? What do people even do with marbles anyway?"
"What does someone use with pots anyway?" Ananias mocked, holding one up to further make his point.
"You can use pots for lots of things! Unlike this small box!" Selena held up a small box that immediately almost gave Ananias a heart attack. "I mean, what can you even fit in this except a...," she opened the box to see if there was anything inside it, only to be completely shocked at what was inside, "ring?"
Ananias face turned beet read as he immediately snatched it out of Selena's hands and held it protectively. "You... you weren't supposed to see that!"
Selena's face turned just as red, and arguably more so. "W-Wait, what do you mean by that?!" she awkwardly demanded. "Was... was that meant for me?!"
"Um, maybe?"
"'Maybe'?!"
Ananias loudly and frustratingly groaned. "Alright, it was meant for you, okay?! I was hoping to propose to you in a way other than, you know, this, but here we are!"
"You dolt!" Selena cried. "If you wanted to save it for later, then why didn't you put it in one of your pockets?!"
"Because I couldn't, alright?!" Ananias cried back. "I was hoping that you wouldn't notice long enough, but apparently you did!"
"Oh, so it's my fault that you didn't luck out on me not noticing?!"
"Normal people don't rummage through someone else's stuff that they just bought, Selena!"
"We're not normal, Ananias!" Selena screamed back.
"Well, fine! Since we're not normal, do you want to get married?!" Ananias cried, throwing his pile onto the ground and angrily getting onto one knee.
Selena threw her pile angrily onto the ground as well. "I'd love to! I've been in love with you ever since we were kids!"
"So have I! It's why I put up with you so much!"
"Same! Now kiss me, you idiot!"
"With pleasure, you moody, emotional wreck of a human being!"
"That makes two of us!"
Ending: Ananias and Selena
Ananias continued with his humble life as a messenger almost immediately after the war had ended, his home being the only guaranteed place anyone looking for him could find him. After marrying, he and his wife, Selena, disappeared from records. They likely lived happily ever after.
Author's Note #1: And there ends the supports with Selena. I hope you liked them! The next supports after Selena will be Beruka, followed by Xander, Azura, Flora, Odin, Laslow, Rinkah, Arthur, Silas, Leo, Keaton, and Subaki. Kanna's supports will be like Ophelia's and Soleil's, with Kanna being Odin, Laslow, or Selena's kid and Ananias being an honorary uncle to them. The supports will also be written as if Kanna is a boy, but will be generic enough to fit both genders. Got someone else you want to support with Ananias that isn't on this list yet? Request it. Remember, all Nohr first generation characters, Soliel, Ophelia, Anna, Kanna, Rinkah, Subaki, and Setsuna are allowed to support with him as well and it is a first come, first serve system.
Author's Note #2: The Fire Emblem Warriors poll is now officially up on my profile! Vote for which five characters you want for Ananias to support with from that game the most and, in the end, ten characters will be selected for Ananias to support with, so make your voices heard. Happy voting!
