Apollo watched Klavier carefully as he witnessed Detective Kay Faraday pull the piece of paper from the manilla envelope in order to reiterate that she had snagged an extra piece of evidence from the Gatewater Hotel. He had previously seen the prosecutor's face crumble into shock, anger, and grief before. At long last, it seemed that Klavier had used up his collection of faces. His shoulders sagged.

Kay walked towards the defendant's stand. "I recovered this not far from the victim's room." Apollo moved quickly to take a look at the paper. The first thing he noticed was that the words on it were not written in traditional braille. There were thick black letters, with small holes poked along the lines to make it legible to somone such as Lamiroir. It read plainly:

"Go to Gatewater Hotel Room Number 101 or Machi Tobaye has an accident. Bring this package and everything within it with you."

Klavier finally summoned the strength to begin taking a few steps, but Apollo was too quick for him. He rushed to Lamiroir.

"Can you identify this letter?"

Lamiroir timidly reached out with one hand, tapping the paper a few times before she located the first letter. She traced each row of the dotted lines until she had completed the message. She nodded very slowly.

"Yes...this was the message that was sent to threaten me."

Klavier's face flushed. "Well, isn't that..."

"Convenient?"

All eyes turned towards Kristoph, who smiled and shrugged. "Well, weren't we all thinking it?"

Apollo shook the letter towards the witness stand's occupier. "You're telling me you can't recognize this paper?"

"Not at all." Kristoph's eyes were flat.

Apollo shuffled his feet. There has to be something...

Then he snapped his fingers.

Klavier was jolted by Apollo grabbing him by the sleeve. "Hey, what are you..."

But Apollo kept moving, pulling the prosecutor back to the defense stand. At that, an imperceptible change came over Kristoph.

"What are you doing?"

Apollo and Klavier looked down at the frozen screen of the video player, at the sight of the guard leaving Kristoph's cell with the letter in tow.

Apollo's voice was loud and clear. "With the permission of the court, I will expand the image!"

Kristoph jerked his head up towards the Judge's seat. "Your Honor, he..."

"Stop!" Klavier's voice cut through the air, silencing Kristoph's objection. He beheld the same thing as Apollo; the letter carried by the guard had large, black, perfectly straight letters, just like the ones in Lamiroir's note.

"No...this can't be..."

"But it is!" Apollo flipped the player around to make it face the court.

"Kristoph Gavin! The handwriting on the footage and the handwriting on the letter in my hand are the same! It is your handwriting!"

At that, Kristoph fell silent. He stood very still, his mouth quivering as it alternated between a grimace and a manic grin. He stumbled dumbly to the side of the witness stand, and Apollo could not help but marvel over the sight of his former mentor shaking all over. Then, all at once, Kristoph snarled and began to break out into a mad dash.

He did not get far.

Almost as soon as his rampage began, it ended. He fell to his knees, then flat on his face. Klaire stood silently, still keeping her taser raised. She had struck her brother right between the shoulder blades, and she gave the wires another jolt of electricity.

Kristoph Gavin tried to escape the bailiffs after the electric darts were removed from his back. However, Klaire Gavin sent another pair between his legs. At that, Apollo, Klavier, and the Judge all looked away. They were grateful to be behind their stands when this occurred.

Within a few hours, most of what Apollo deduced was declared accurate.

Upon learning that Daryan Crescend was a possible leak, Kristoph sent two letters; one to an accomplice in order to detail how to set up the bomb trap, and the other to Lamiroir to send her to the allotted room.

One detail that proved incorrect, however, was that the pen Lamiroir had was rigged with an explosive. After a few hours in solitary confinement, Kristoph confessed to ordering his accomplice to both set up the bomb trap in the room and to arrange the shooting that would occur the split second before the former was triggered.

Kristoph refused to name his accomplice.

Apollo was in the lobby again, taking a long, deep breath. The trial was over. Finally.

Then he felt the tap on his shoulder. He turned around to look at Klaire. Klavier was standing behind her, looking up at the ceiling. It was clear that he was not in the mood to tease her. She looked at Apollo with a smile, trying her best to ignore the one behind her, but he saw the strain in her face.

That she had to take down her other brother with her own hands was no light matter. Apollo smiled gratefully.

"Thanks...so much for your help."

"Don't mention it. It's just...I didn't know how you were feeling or..."

"It's okay." Apollo was startled by how quickly Klaire could go from wielding a taser to acting so worried. "It's okay. Again, thanks for everything."

"No problem. I'd...do anything for you." Apollo shuffled his feet shyly at those words. He felt as though his heart skipped a couple of beats.

Finally, Klavier descended from his stupor. "Anything for him, little sister?"

Klaire whirled around. "No, I.."

Apollo waved his arms frantically. "It's not like that..."

And Klavier permitted himself his first genuine laugh in a long time.
