This is the one story I wish I didn't end up leaving at 1 chapter. I swear the second chapter is on an old laptop somewhere because I remember writing it. Alas, I did have to rewrite it. I hope you enjoy. I own Jessica, WWE owns their people, AEW owns theirs…Jon Moxley is going to have to stay Dean for this stories sake. Enjoy!
June - Graduation Day - Jessica's POV
The last few months have been interesting. I went from high schooler one day to future crime boss wife the next. Each day had me taking on different tasks that my head was spinning by the end of the school year.
I would go to school during the day, work on homework, various projects and then get swept up to see a wedding venue with Phil by the end of the day. I was slowly starting to have an identify crisis.
Speaking of Phil, wedding related events were the only times I saw him other than prom. Don't get me wrong, he made it clear he was thinking about me with the constant flowers and gifts coming every other day but physically he avoided me like the plague. At wedding venues he'd stay close by, brushing his hand against mine occasionally but once I was dropped home by Dean, Seth or Roman, that was it. The morning after was usually met with flowers and a simple note that just had a heart and his name. The man was confusing.
Except for prom. Phil was a different human the night of my prom. While he was always nice to me, he was exceptionally full of life that day. The crime boss was no where to be seen, he was a normal guy…other than being the only guy in his thirties at a senior prom.
He chatted with my friends, he held my hand, took all of the cheesy prom pictures holding my hips giving me my corsage and all that nonsense. He danced with me all night and made sure I was having a good time.
"You only get one senior prom." He would tell me throughout the night. I would nod and he'd whisk me off to either take pictures together or dance. During a slow dance he told me how this was great practice for the wedding. I'd roll my eyes and he'd change the subject.
I haven't seen Phil since prom but he told me he'd come to graduation and the dinner following it. I didn't have high hopes and my heart sank at the thought of him missing it. While I wasn't thrilled on getting married Phil had grown on me. We had a weird relationship but I kind of like it.
I pulled out my phone and saw various texts from my friends who where excited about graduating and heading to college. I would be taking classes virtually as Phil didn't trust me to go to school daily without a body guard. I absolutely didn't need any of his men coming with me so we compromised.
I looked through the texts to see if Phil had texted at all. The only thing there was the one from last night, "I wouldn't miss tomorrow for the world." He had said. We were leaving in half an hour and he was still no where to be seen. There was a knock on my door followed by the sound of it opening.
"Are you just about ready sweetheart?" My mother asked.
"Yeah, I am." I answered smiling softly while shoving my phone into my bag.
"Oh hunny, he'll be there." She said.
"Who?" I asked innocently. I was still letting my parents know how mad I was that they basically gave me away to a stranger.
"Your Phil." She said smiling, "I know you want him there."
"It doesn't matter if my future keeper is there, if anything I should be enjoying my last few weeks of freedom." I said casually.
"Oh Jessica, enough of this." She said more sternly, "You're making this much harder than it has to be."
"Imagine if you were the one having to get married." I said under my breath.
"What was that?" She asked.
"Oh nothing, you and Daddy are happy with your millions and that's what matters." I said smiling brightly.
"Would you prefer to be dead? Because that's what we'd all be if we didn't make this deal."
"We? No Daddy. I wasn't apart of this at all." I spat back.
"Enough!" She yelled, "We're leaving in 20 minutes, I expect you downstairs in 10." With that my mother stormed out of my room slamming the door as she went. It was a small moment like this that had me okay with leaving this house.
I pulled out my phone again and went to Phil's name.
"Are you on your way?" I typed, I pressed send and expected to see the three dots of him typing quickly, but I got nothing. I sighed put my phone back in my bag and headed downstairs.
Phil's POV
I crouched down behind a crate shielding myself from the Carter crew.
"There's too many of them sir." Seth whispered from beside me.
"No shit!" I hissed back. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket groaning. I had a feeling it was Jessica which means I'm in an even worse situation.
"You really think working with the McMahon's is worth it?" Dixie Carter yelled, "because you're about to pay with your life Brooks!" I rolled my eyes, this woman was insane.
"Put the gun down Dixie and we can work out a new deal." I said back, holding my own pistol close.
"Why would I want to work a new deal with you?" She yelled back.
"There's only one way to find out! Stop shooting!"
"Fine." I motioned for Roman to check our surroundings. Once he gave the okay, we all stood.
"Now isn't that better?" I said walking over to Dixie. I quickly checked my phone seeing Jessica's text.
"Are you on your way?" I inwardly groaned seeing the time. I was already late and looks like I'd be even later. Hopefully I could take care of the Carter's quickly and catch some of the ceremony.
"So why do I want a new deal with you?" Dixie asked as I slid my phone back into my pocket.
"I'm about to have the largest gang out there, and the last thing you want to do is be on the wrong side of that gang" I said.
"What gang did you manage to take over?" She asked, curiosity taking over. Perfect.
"The McMahon's." I said simply.
"How the hell did you manage that?" She asked, a smirk forming on her face.
"Let's just say we came to terms on a merger."
"What kind?"
"Ah, you see that I'm going to keep to myself for now." I said, fearing for Jessica's safety.
"Fine, what do I get out of this by sparing you and your men today?" She asked. I smiled glad Dixie was realizing that she was about to make a mistake.
"Just leave us alone, in time you will see the benefits of letting us live. Just be patient Ms. Carter. She raised her eyebrow at me, not satisfied.
"Sit down Mr. Brooks, I rather discuss further before I let you leave." I slid into a chair, I'm definitely missing this graduation.
Jessica's POV - Limo to Graduation
"Must you give your mother a hard time?" My father whispered to me. I looked innocently at him.
"What ever do you mean Father?" I asked. He chuckled.
"You're already sounding like Brooks." He said. My heart tugged a little. Phil still hadn't answered me and we've left the house.
"He'll be there." My father said.
"I didn't say anything about him, I don't care if he comes." I said crossing my arms.
"Sure you don't" he said smiling.
We arrived at school for the ceremony. I split from my parents and went with my friends who hugged me onsite. Our teachers gathered us for one final time and sent us out to take our seats. The ceremony was quick and boring, but before I knew it my name was announced and I was shaking my Dean's hand. I turned to the crowd and smiled for the picture being taken. As I walked off the stage I searched for Phil, but he was no where to be found.
"Wouldn't miss it for the world my ass." I grumbled as I took my seat. The rest of the ceremony wrapped up and I was back in the limo with my family. Everyone was chatting about full of joy and pride of my accomplishment. No one mentioned the lack of Phil. We went to a fancy restaurant and had a quiet dinner. Everyone drank and ate way too much and went to bed upon returning home. Everyone but me.
I still hadn't heard from Phil. At this point my disappointment turned to anger as he hadn't even sent a gift. He completely forgot about me on my big day. As everyone slept I began to dump all the flowers that had been sent over the past week. I decided I'm not excepting anything else from him. This was a business deal and I needed to start treating it like that.
All of a sudden there was a knock on the front door. It was 11:45pm, who the hell would be knocking now. I ignored it and continued my search and destroy of the flowers scattered around the house. The knocking continued and I continued to ignore it until my phone buzzed. Phil's name across the screen.
"Please open the door." It read, I ignored it. My phone buzzed again.
"I can see you walking Jessica." I rolled my eyes. Again it buzzed.
"Jessica please!"
"Fine." I wrote back. I threw the door open to reveal a very roughed up Phil. His shirt was ripped, he had a cut over his eye and he was covered in dirt.
"I can explain."
There you have it! I hope you like where it's going. Next chapter Jessica and Phil will spend time together as he tries to make up for missing graduation. Will Jessica accept his apology or will she continue on with her business deal mentality?
