Kenichi was on his way to his first day in High School. When he came across an unexpected sight. A gorgeous blonde girl wearing his school uniform and glasses standing protectively by an old man. Three adult thugs were harassing them both. The boy might have walked away if he hadn't met Renka this past summer. The black haired beauty taught him more in a couple of weeks than the Karate club ever had. Sure that wasn't a lot of time, but it gave him something he had lacked called confidence. The amount was small, however it was enough for this.
He rushed ahead and yelled at the two. "Run I'll hold them off!" The thug that had been doing most of the talking was surprised then huddled over in pain. Kenichi had delivered a punch to the sternum, followed by one to the stomach. Unfortunately, the blows only temporarily disabled his target, the boy just wasn't all that good yet. He looked to see if the people he acted as a distraction for got away. Instead he saw the two other thugs out cold. The girl jumped over his head like a feather on the wind. Then landed a finishing kick on the adult that knocked him out.
The girl turned and bowed to her helper and smiled. "Thank you so much you really saved me. I'm Miu Furinji, can we be friends?" She batted her eyebrows in an adorable way as she waited for a response.
He blushed at the praise. "No problem, wait didn't you save me? I'm Kenichi Shirahama nice to meet you. We can be friends if you really want." He smiled in return to her request glad to have a second friend.
She jumped excitedly then paused. "Oh no were going to be late to school, let's go Kenichi." Miu grabbed his hand without hesitating and took off amazingly fast. She jumped over a river without realizing her hand was the only thing keeping Kenichi from falling in. The pair reached school just before the bell.
Kenichi suddenly felt a chill up his spine as Miu went on ahead. Then he turned and saw the one he expected. "Nijima, don't you have better things to do other than bother me."
"Of course Kenichi, but I wanted to verify some information I heard over the summer. Are you actually wising up and quitting the Karate club?" Haruo pulled out his personal data assistant for recording info.
"How did you find that out? I was in China when I said that." He really hoped the demon hadn't found out about Renka.
"Ha, wouldn't you like to know weak knees. Maybe I'll tell you if you shine my shoes." Nijima remembered the listening device he planted on his classmate was constantly going in and out. Up until something smashed it right after he heard those words spoken. It was so glitchy at the end. He couldn't even tell if the other person talking was male or female.
"Not going to happen you demon. I'll be joining the gardening club later." It was a simple statement, but somehow hearing it out loud improved his mood.
"Good to know Kenichi my friend. I should warn you I'm going to let the Karate club know so I can get some Intel from them. So look foward to their violent farewell party." He giggled maniacally for a few seconds then asked something else. "So who was that cute blonde you came to school with. Care to share her stats buddy?"
"No, leave me alone you twisted freak!" Kenichi took off at a fast walk to more crazy laughter.
Miu ate lunch with her new friend. Then he told her about the threat he got this morning. "Well Kenichi I do know some people that can teach you. Though their methods can be a bit harsh."
The boy forgot himself and put a hand on each of her shoulders. "I don't care Miu those Karate jerks could cripple me for life." He drew her closer with each word.
Miu's heart began to race for some reason. It got so intense she started to blush a little. "If you are really sure, I'll give you a map before schools over."
"Thank you Miu, you're a life saver." Then he realized what he was doing and let go like something bit him. "Sorry I got carried away for a moment." He better leave this part out when he called Renka later.
After school Kenichi waived bye to Izumi Yuka. She was the only other member of the gardening club. Then he was approached by Daimonji the Karate clubs main enforcer.
"Hey Shirahama, just wanted you to know. I'm going to give your final goodbye. Look at the bright side you get a whole two weeks to get your affairs in order." The brutish leg breaker gave his target a pat on the back that laid him flat. Then he walked away laughing.
That was when he found new resolve to learn so he didn't die. He pulled out the map Miu had given him. One glance at the complicated route and his jaw dropped. 'Sprinting, flips, and jumping how was he supposed to do this? Oh well, he supposed he should just get started.'
The sun had set before he found Ryozanpaku, breathing heavily. A massive wooden double door acted as a barrier to his progress. He tried, but couldn't budge it. He screamed in frustration. That was when a massive elderly blonde guy appeared.
"Hey young man, what are you doing on our doorstep?" The guy pushed open both doors with ease.
The teenager was shocked as the man moved his obstacle with ease. "Uh I'm Kenichi Shirahama, I was sent here by Miu Furinji. She said I could learn martial arts here."
"Oh you my grandaughter's friend she mentioned you were coming today I'm Hayato Furinji. Well come inside we need to get the paperwork out of the way." The old man lead the way to the front of his house.
Miu came out wearing an apron smiling. "Hi grandpa glad to see you found him. Kenichi what took you so long? The others have been waiting." Then she bowed politely. "Welcome to my home."
The boy returned the bow. "Thank you for having me."
The elder smiled as he was showed respect as well. 'Seems like a good kid.' He thought to himself. "Well Kenichi I believe your main interest was Karate. I'll take you to our resident master Shio Sakaki. I should warn you he doesn't take students usually."
"Thank you sir I appreciate it." The flat refusal he had received when he got there was discouraging.
Hayato eased his mind though. "Told you, but don't worry Akisame will begin your training he's a great teacher. You just have to sign some things which Kensei will handle."
Kenichi's spirit lifted at that statement. He couldn't wait to tell Renka about all the people he met today. She would be thrilled to hear he would start training seriously in martial arts. She always worried about his inability to properly defend himself.
