Chapter 7: The Day of May

May 1st

3:00 A.M

"Miru?" She asked.

No response.

Makato couldn't see their face due to the darkness outside the hallway. With no other choice, she slowly cracked the door halfway.

What felt like a baseball bat thrust straight into Makato's stomach, causing an unpleasant, sharp gag from her throat. She curled herself into a tight ball and held in her stomach from the excruciating pain, throbbing over and over. Before she had a chance to look at their face, her knees dropped and her eyelids grew heavy, collapsing right in front of their feet.

Ganondorf stared at her lifeless body and looked back at his fortune.

'Don't waste a single second.'

After crumbling the fortune and stuffing it back into his pocket, he grabbed her body over his shoulder and flopped her on the bed. Bravery with a slice of shame, filled him up, as he gathered the necessary tools for his plan. The potions he got earlier were all used against her just for the two hours of the moment. First, he made sure she drank the sleeping potion, and then the paralyzed. Finishing off, Ganondorf then stuffed her body in a brown flexible bag.

It was May.

And it was his chance.

Ganondorf left Makato's room with the brown bag in his hand. He closed the door behind and checked the hallways. Pitch black, but with the moonlight, shining between a few curtains. As he walked down the halls, he bumped into something very small and soft. He gritted his teeth and stared down at the two siblings. They looked up at Ganondorf with tired eyes, holding a snow cone coated in many flavors of fruity syrups.

"Good morning, Ganondorf." Popo greeted.

Nana tilted her head to the large brown bag that swung over his shoulder. "Are you giving out presents to the good little children?"

"We're pretty good, aren't we?" Popo asked his sister.

"Yes. We lied about five times yesterday so. . ." Nana nodded.

"It's trash. Not presents." Ganondorf answered.

"From, that witch's room?" Popo asked, confused.

"Yeah, we saw you coming out of her room with that bag," Nana said. "No fair if you give her a present and not us!"

"As I said, you pipsqueaks. It's trash. That's that." Ganondorf began to lose his cool with the kids, trying to convince them it was trash.

The kids licked their snow cones. "We don't believe you. Give us a present."

'Persistent bastards.' Time was ticking for Ganondorf. Killing them right now would only cause more problems.

"Heh," Ganondorf smirked, setting the brown bag down and pulling out two potions. "Congratulations. You two get lucky, magic juice."

"Yay!" Popo and Nana jumped up and down in excitement. They ditched their snow cones on the ground and took the "lucky, magical drinks" from Ganondorf.

"Bottoms up!" Popping the cork out, they clashed their bottles together and gulped it down. Five seconds later, they let out a loud yawn before drifting off to sleep on the ground.

Now that the distractions were in the way, Ganondorf picked up the brown bag and kept walking till he reached Bowser's room. Without knocking, he opened his door.

"Wake up or the deal's off."

Bowser snorted, leaving his room with a small bag of things.

"Hmph. Let's go." Ganondorf and Bowser snuck out of the mansion without brushing, showering, and eating breakfast. With that, the two left the Smash Mansion with the bag.

"How long will it take to get to Maple Forest?" Bowser said.

"If we get there by foot, till noon," Ganondorf said, walking ahead.

"We need a vehicle. Walking will only take forever."

"Hmph. You've got a point. Carrying her would only be trouble." Ganondorf paused his steps. "Wario has this special motorcycle with two sidecars locked away in the garage. We'll take that."

6:10 A.M

Ike woke up with a drowsy look, rolling out of his bed with an "I Fight For My Friends" tank and blue sweats. He stretched his arms and let out a yawn.

"May 4th would be the Spring Festival. . . huh. . ." Ike rubbed his neck, slowly getting up from his bed.

Miru soon woke up after Ike overheard what he had said. "Morning. . ."

"Hey. Wanna check the bathhouse we have in the mansion?"

"Oh, a bathhouse. Just like we have at home. Sure." Miru left his bed. "It's so early though. . ."

"Earlier the better. Fewer people too."

Both Ike and Miru grabbed the small buckets of their hygiene products, towels, and a change of clothes to the bathhouse. They both headed to Marth's room, in which he came out with the same mindset with a bucket of his things.

"Bathhouse?" Ike asked.

"You know it," Marth said.

Miru noticed Marth's sparkly indigo onesie, but never questioned his taste.

Pit and Link were also awake for the bathhouse and joined up with Ike, Marth, and Miru.

"Now, who complains every time we forget to invite him to the bathhouse early in the morning?" Marth asked the group.

"Roy." Everyone said at the same time.

The group of Smashers journeyed to Roy's room to wake him up for an early bathhouse.

They entered Roy's room, and snoring rang up in everyone's ears. As they got closer, they witnessed Roy wearing his red onesie, hugging his body pillow, and murmuring in his sleep.

"Creepy." Pit said.

Ike scoffed. "What isn't creepy about it? That's Roy we're talking about."

"Ice cream. . . Makato. . . what kind. . . would you like?" Roy grumbled. Drool trailed down to the pillow from the side of his lips. "Hahaha. . ."

"Who wants to wake him up?" Marth asked.

Ike walked up to Roy, lifting the mattress till his body slid down the ground.

"Ow! Wha. . . what the?" Roy shot his head up and looked toward the group of teen Smashers.

"What kind of dream were you dreaming, Mr. Frosty?" Ike leaned over with a distinctive stare.

"The fuck?! Talk about invasion of privacy." Roy squeezed his pillow to comfort himself from the fall.

"Come on, Roy. You love going to the bathhouse on an early morning." Link said.

"Fuck that. You guys ruined my day! I'd rather go by myself."

Ike didn't care whether he wanted to join or not. "Your loss."

The gang left Roy in his room as soon as Roy rejected tagging along with them.

He waited a few seconds, hearing footsteps tapping away. As soon as he couldn't hear them, Roy ditched his room and headed for Makato's room.

Roy made it to her room and gave a light knock. "Makato~? Wanna play some Street Fighter? Or. . . go get some ice cream? Almost like a date. . . but it's not so- -wait. . . that's too early. What am I thinking?"

No response…

"Yeah, Roy. It's too early. Probably sleeping. . . Maybe she can think about me when she sleeps. . . Ah, Roy, I'm getting a little flustered just thinking about that!" Roy walked away from her room, concluding in his head that she was still asleep.

The three female Smashers went by Makato's room, giving a couple of knocks to her room. All of them had their small buckets with their things to enjoy the bathhouse.

"Good Morning, Makato! Wake up! Early bathhouse time~!" Peach shouted at the door.

No answer…

"Oh my. What a sleepy head." Peach giggled.

"I mean. . . it's like six in the morning," Samus said.

"Perhaps we should check inside," Zelda suggested. Zelda then opened her room, to see an empty bed.

The girls walked inside her room, checking, and searching. Samus brushed her hands toward the shelves of glass bottles.

"She's not here," Samus said.

"Hmm. . ." Zelda left her room and that was when she noticed two kids sleeping in a blind spot in the hallways.

She bent over on her knees, seeing Popo and Nana hugging each other in their sleep.

"Popo, Nana. You'll catch a cold in the hallways. Wake up!" Zelda shook their bodies until one of the kids opened their eyes.

The siblings woke up from the sound of Zelda's calm voice. "Is it morning already?" Popo rubbed his eyes.

"Popo, what kind of question is that?" Nana stretched her stubby arms. "Oh, Popo, Ganondorf gave us lucky, magic juice! And we got super sleepy."

"We got super fucked up." Popo nodded.

"Watch your language, brat." Samus approached the kids with Peach following from behind.

"What about Ganondorf?" Zelda wondered. "Do you guys know something?"

"We saw Ganondorf holding a big brown bag with presents! Makato got a present first, so that wasn't fair." Nana explained.

"Let's go to the bathhouse!" Popo said to Nana.

"Yes! I need a soak!" Nana said. As the kids ran off, Zelda stood in place, meditating on what Nana said.

"Big brown bag? Makato got some kind of present from Ganondorf?" Zelda murmured.

"What's wrong Zelda? Are you ok?" Peach placed her hand on Zelda's shoulder.

"Makato's not here, though," Samus added. "And why would Ganondorf be carrying such a large bag?"

"She's not here. . ." Zelda muttered, still focused on her thoughts. "If my suspicions are correct. . . Ganondorf probably used that bag to take Makato."

"Why would he do such a thing?" Peach gasped. "I'm still confused about what's going on!"

"We need to check if Ganondorf is still here," Samus said.

"Yes."

Today's breakfast was served early. Unusual, but nobody questioned it.

Miru came downstairs toward the dining table and silently headed for an empty seat next to Marth.

Marth glanced over to Miru, setting his fork down. "What's wrong, Miru?"

"Princess Makato. . . does anyone know where she is?" Miru asked the table loudly enough to get attention from the other Smashers.

"I was going to ask the same thing." Zelda joined in the conversation. "And has anyone seen Ganondorf today besides the Ice Climbers?"

The table responded with heads being shaken.

"Only we did! We got lucky magic juice!" Popo and Nana raised their hands.

"What you drank wasn't magical juice. It was a sleeping potion." Zelda showed the empty bottle that was left near Popo's body when he slept.

"Bowser promised we'd gamble first thing in the morning!" Wario added, slamming his hands on the table.

"From what the Ice Climbers said, they saw Ganondorf leaving Makato's room with a. . . large brown bag of presents."

"Take out. . . the presents. And we'll have our answer." Miru tightened his fist, lowering his head.

"You don't mean. . ." Marth trailed.

Zelda nodded, continuing. "Makato. With Ganondorf and Makato's absence, I concluded: Ganondorf took Makato around midnight."

"What?!" Most of the Smashers said, still confused about the situation.

Some of them turned their heads to Miru, for he was the closest to Makato.

Miru's body trembled in despair as he tightened his fist. "I should have stayed with her. It's my fault I let the Princess out of sight."

"Don't be so harsh on yourself." Marth comforted.

"Yeah," Ike said. "It's not your fault."

Wolf crossed his arms. "I don't see what is there to gain by taking her."

Zelda and Link looked at each other before turning to the others.

"There was something to gain." Zelda started. "When Makato arrived here, later that night, Link and I decided to do some research on her. She's born into the-"

"She's a wizard of royalty in her family bloodline." Miru interrupted, looking straight at Zelda. "While most of her family is born with magic from the earth, like fire and water magic. Princess Makato has magic from the brain, giving her the ability to make potions."

"Y-yes." Zelda cleared her throat. "Exactly as you said, Miru. As we learned about Makato's family. . . bloodline, we learned there was only one thing that can block or weaken their magic. And that was the Golden Flower. It blooms only in May."

"And today is the 1st of May." Link said. "The website we were on totally exposed her. There were even some chilling texts about capturing them or selling them off. We even saw Makato's picture shown for a reward."

"The location to grab the reward was in Maple Forest. And whoever brings her there gets five crates of gold bars." Zelda said.

Everyone processed their thoughts from Zelda and Link's info.

Roy gulped. "So. . . last night, Ganondorf smothered her with a pillow, tied her up in some bag for some gold bars?"

"Unfortunately, that's my only answer. He's not here. And Bowser isn't. . . which is unusual." Zelda sighed.

"I know it has to do something with Mikoru. That bastard." Miru grumbled.

Ike shot up from the table, and all eyes went to him.

"We have to go to Maple Forest. And save her." Ike said. "Shouldn't be too far, right? Just a five-minute jog, right?"

"Um, Ike. If it was, Ganondorf would have been back by now without Makato." Zelda said. "Maple Forest is far from here."

"Oh shit, you're right."

"Mama mia. . ." Mario frowned. "Ok, as Smashers, we must help each other out. Peach, Kirby, Ice Climbers, Yoshi, Ness, Jigglypuff, Toon Link, and Lucas will report back to Master Hand and Crazy Hand while staying back in the mansion just in case Makato shows up. Lucario and Red with your Pokemon will search for Bowser. And the rest of us will go to Maple Forest and save Makato."

(oOoOoOo)

The sun was already rising from the mountains on the lone highway. With gas running out quicker than Ganondorf anticipated, they both stopped by a small gas station.

"Hey," Bowser nudged Ganondorf's shoulder and pointed to a fast-food area. "Let's eat before we hit the road."

"Seems your fatass can't wait three hours for a meal," Ganondorf said, putting the nozzle in the gas tank. His stomach didn't like the idea of waiting another three hours for breakfast as it gave off a rumble.

"Huh, who's the fatass?" Bowser arched an eyebrow.

"Still you." Ganondorf looked back at the brown bag. "We'll stop by McDonald's along the way. Whoever created that wanted page, I'm sure they want her to look presentable. . . So, we'll have to feed her."

After getting gas, it was back on the road until they could spot a few cars parked near a deserted McDiggity's. Leaving their belongings on the motorcycle, they headed in for some grub.

"W-welcome to McDiggity's." The young man in the cash register sweated in the sight of two cold-blooded villains.

"I thought this was McDonald's," Bowser said to Ganondorf.

"It's the nearest one we can find," Ganondorf responded, with his eyes glued to the menu. "I want one of each item on the menu."

"O-okay! That'll be. . . a lot of money."

"Really?" Ganondorf slammed a wad of cash on the counter. "Make it to go."

"Yes sir."

Once they got their food, Ganondorf and Bowser ate what they could fill up in their bellies, only saving the leftover fries from the bottom of the bag for Makato.

After their meal, they left the restaurant and walked back to their motorcycle that was parked on the side of the road, rather than in the parking lot. Ganondorf hopped on the motorcycle while Bowser buckled his seat on one of the sidecars. As the engine was starting, Bowser noticed the brown bag looking deflated.

"She's gone!" Bowser said, unbuckling his seat. Ganondorf made a quick turn to the empty sidecar to his left, also seeing the deflated-looking brown bag.

"Shit. That fucking bitch." Ganondorf cursed, leaving the motorcycle. "The potions I gave her, worn off two hours ago, but I didn't expect her to wake up so soon."

Ganondorf and Bowser began their search around McDiggity's.

Makato let out a weak breath and held the pain that lingered hours ago. "Where. . . am I?" Makato let out a cough as she adjusted her pink, polka-dotted nightgown. She stared at the new area she was in, seeing sand surrounding a thin trail of road. A few cactuses, and a small restaurant from afar. Makato sighed through her nose, peeking up from a couple of bushes.

"Miru. . . I was. . . too late. I'm sorry." Makato frowned. "It's May. I didn't think anyone would know that much about me."

The ground below her feet, vibrated gently before gradually it became more vibrant behind her. Makato turned around. And then she saw Ganondorf, standing above her.

Makato's face turned pale at his dark, yet sinister expression. "You. . ."

Ganondorf crunched his knuckles, allowing no options for her to escape. Bowser stood beside him, making this more intimidating.

"Princess Makato was it?" Ganondorf smirked. "Escaping isn't a smart choice, especially not knowing where you are. Now be a good little girl and get back into the motorcycle. I'll break your legs if I have to."

"Where are you taking me?" Makato, slowly got back on her feet with caution, keeping a stern eye on Ganondorf.

"Maple Forest."

"Ganondorf had the fucking nerve to take my special motorcycle with the two sidecars!" Wario screamed to the high heavens.

"So, Bowser must have gone with Ganondorf," Zelda said, nodding her head.

Sonic scratched his head, staring at the vehicles. "Can't I just run to the Maple Forest? I've never been there, but I know I can find the place."

"Sonic, if you do that, you'll only spoil the next chapter," Zelda said.

"Ah. . . um. Yes. Ok." Sonic decided to leave it at that. "Better to go in a group anyways. . ."

"Yeah, more the merrier!" Roy agreed.

"Let's just take my awesome race car." Captain Falcon pointed out.

"Hahaha. . . very funny." Ike rolled his eyes. "Go back to school and learn how to count. Look around! You think twenty-one of us can fit in your one-seater?"

"It is the fastest!"

"And your brain is the slowest, unfortunately," Marth commented.

Fox, Falco, and Wolf checked the starships. "We only have a one-seater as well. . ." Fox said.

"Let's take the big ship thing." Pit suggested.

"Oh, the Halberd?" Marth said.

The Smashers turned to Meta Knight for permission.

"Whatever it takes. . ." Meta Knight said.

"Then it's settled!" Mario said. "Everyone into the Halberd!"
