"So tell me about this guy you're dating." Stephanie-Kathleen's cousin- said.

Kathleen put her arm around her shoulder. "Steph, we don't have to talk about that now. With Aunt Janet…"

Stephanie held her hand up. "Please Kat. I have done nothing in the past few days but worry about my Mom. I need a distraction."

"Okay."

"Let's go down to the cafeteria. They said Mom's tests are going to be for a while."

"Sounds good."

They walked to the elevator and got in. Kathleen pushed the first floor button and they rode in silence until the elevator dinged and the door opened. They went to the cafeteria and bought some soup, some iced tea, and a couple of bowls of vanilla pudding. They grabbed a table near the window.

"Okay. So spill it." Stephanie said and took a spoonful of her soup. "What's he like?"

"Well he's amazing. When I told him about Aunt Janet he was so kind and comforting."

"He sounds nice."

"Yeah, he is. Our relationship is nearly perfect." She took a spoonful of her soup.

"Nearly perfect?" Stephanie raised her eyebrows. "What does that mean?"

Kathleen sighed and leaned back in her chair.

"Angela."

"Angela? Who is Angela?"

"She's his boss and his best friend who he has been living with for the past seven years!"

"Whoa! Wait just a moment! They live together?!"

"Well yeah. He's her housekeeper."

"Okay. So-what's his name?"

"Tony."

"Okay Tony has been Angela's housekeeper for seven years."

"Yes."

"And they became friends."

'Best friends. Which okay I can see how they could and would become friends."

"But? I know there's a but in there!"

"But, I have had this feeling for a while that there is more to their relationship."

"What do you mean?"

Kathleen's face took on a far away look as she remembered the night Tony took her out to a fancy restaurant just so he could spy on Angela and her date.

"KAT! Out with it!"

"Okay, okay. Well there was this one time I went over to the house because Tony was going to fix us a romantic dinner. But he said the sauce wasn't any good-even though it looked fine to me- and instead we went out to a very fancy restaurant."

"Okay, that doesn't sound so bad."

"Well hold on! Anyway while we were there he was so distracted. He kept getting up from the table and when he was actually at the table he barely paid any attention to me. "

"OOH that doesn't sound good!"

Kathleen rolled her eyes. "You can say that again!"

"Okay, so what happened?"

"I finally told him I wanted a little honesty. That was when he told me that he brought me here so he could get a look at the guy Angela was dating."

"He was spying on her?"

"Yes! And he dragged me along with him!"

"Oh Kat, I'm sorry. So that's why you think there is more to their relationship than just a friendship?"

'Well yeah. I mean he acted so worried and concerned about her. I asked him if she was more than just his boss and he said that she was kind of more than that."

'Okay, but you said yourself that they are friends. Maybe that's all it was . A friend looking out for another friend."

Kathleen shook her head. "No, because he then said that he didn't care if he saw Angela's date and that he was with me. So I tested him."

"What did you do?"

"I looked around and pretended I saw him. I said: "Is that him?" She smirked. 'You should have seen the way his head whipped around,"

Stephanie started laughing. "Good for you cuz! So what happened next?"

"I threw my napkin on the table and told him to call me when his whiplash healed and walked out."

'Well I don't blame you one bit for being upset."

"Oh I wasn't upset. I was pissed!"

"But, you're still together."

"Yeah, we talked it over and he apologized and I decided to give him another chance. And our relationship is going well except for Angela."

"That damn Angela." Stephanie smirked,

"Yes, that damn Angela!" Kathleen laughed.

"Jonathan, do you have any threes?" Mona asked.

He didn't answer her. He was too busy looking at the front door.

"YO KID!" She threw some popcorn at him.

He turned around. "Grandma! Knock it off!"

"Well pay attention then!"

Jonathan rolled his eyes. "Fine. But aren't you curious about what is going on with mom and Tony?"

"Of course I am. But staring at the door isn't going to make them come home any faster. After all you know what they say: A watched door never opens!"

Sam laughed. "That is not what they say!"

Mona shrugged. "Whatever. My point is they will get here when they get here."

"I know you're right Mona. But I'm with Jonathan. I'm dying to know what is going on!"

"I know you are. I am too. But believe me soon we won't have anything to worry about."

Sam and Jonathan exchanged glances. Mona knew something. They were sure of it.

"Grandma is there something you're not telling us?"

Mona smiled.

"There is! Okay Mona spill it!"

"Okay. Okay. I guess I should tell you. Tony finally admitted it." She grinned like the cat who ate the canary.

"He admitted what?" Jonathan asked.

Mona looked up at the ceiling. "Please give me strength! What do you think? He told me that he loves Angela!"

"He did? You mean that he really and truly loves her?!" Sam squealed.

"Yep!"

"Oh that's great!"

'Yeah, it's about time!"

"Well hold on there is more."

"What?"

"Well he told me that he went to Kathleen's to break up with her but before he could she told him that she had some news."

"What news?"

Sam felt a cold chill through her body. "Oh please don't tell me she is pregnant!" She groaned and dropped her head on the couch cushion.

"That is what I thought. But it was about her Aunt. "

"What about her?"

'She had a stroke."

"Oh really? Wow that's awful. Poor Kathleen."

"Yeah, Tony said she was devastated. And he also said he couldn't break up with her then."

Sam sighed. "Yeah, I can understand Dad not wanting to hurt her more than she already is."

"I do too. But what does this mean for mom and Tony? Is Tony just going to stay with Kathleen indefinitely?"

"It means we have to wait a little bit longer." Mona told them.

Sam and Jonathan didn't like hearing that but they knew they didn't have any other choice.

"Okay. We'll be patient." Sam said.

"Yeah, I guess."

"Okay good. Now I'll ask again. Jonathan, do you have any threes?"

"Angela! Are you okay?" Tony walked over and knelt down in front of her. Her lip was bleeding.

"Oh my God. You're bleeding." He took his handkerchief out of his pocket and gently wiped away the blood.

"Does it hurt? Do you need some ice?" He caressed her face with his hand.

Linda rolled her eyes.

"No, I'm okay."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

Tony stood up and turned to Linda.

"HOW DARE YOU?!"

"How dare I? No, how dare you Tony!"

"You had no right to do that!"

'Oh yes I did! This bitch is making the moves on my friend's man. And if you thought I was just going to sit back and let her.."

"I told you you have this all wrong!"

"Oh really?" She smirked and crossed her arms.

"Yes. Angela is my friend. She is my best friend. And if I want to have dinner with my best friend that is my choice! You don't own me and neither does Kathleen!"

Angela wasn't sure how to feel. On the one hand she loved how Tony defended their relationship. But to hear him say once again that all they were were friends broke her heart.

"Oh so you think sneaking around Kathleen's back is okay?"

"I am… You know what I-no we- don't owe you any more explanations!"

"Oh yes you do! "

"No, we don't and this conversation is over!"

"You have a lot of nerve Tony! The woman you love is going through a horrible and emotional time and here you are two timing her!"

"The woman I love is not going through a horrible and emotional time. The woman I love is sitting right here!"
