Chapter 55: A Birthday's Resonance
Outside of Smash Mansion
7:21 P.M.
Makato and Cloud headed back to the Smash Mansion at a very late hour. They both stood near the door for a little while. Cloud then decided to open the door. As he opened the door, Makato saw a bunch of people with bright smiles on their faces, only looking right at her.
"Oh, she's here! Ok!"
"Ready? 1. . . 2. . . 3. . ."
"HAPPY-!"
"MERRY CHRISTMAS!" Kirby cheered. Interrupted by the foolish puff ball, everyone raged at the Kirby.
"You idiot!"
"It's Happy Birthday! Not Merry Christmas!"
"Looks like we have to knock some sense into you!"
"Die!"
Makato noticed the large, colorful banner, 'Happy Birthday'. "Wait, what's going on?" Makato asked Cloud. "Is there a birthday party, for you?"
"Not quite." Cloud answered with his monotone voice. "It's for you. You were set up, so they can make this. What they call a surprise."
Makato's eyes widened. "This is. . . all too much. I never asked for this. I'm guessing Miru told you all. Looks like I can't stop you. . ."
Distracted from Kirby's inappropriate behavior, Michelle clasped her hands together to get the Smasher's attentions. "Guys! Let's do it again. 1! 2! 3!"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAKATO!"
Giant applauses, screams, noisy kazoos, party poppers, and cheers were the aftermath.
"Thank you. 'This is all very surprising. . .'"
"Let's eat!"
"Party!"
"WOO!"
"Yea!"
"Awesome!"
"I can't wait for cake!"
"NYA HAHAHA!"
So everyone partied like it was 1999. Loud music. Colorful party lights. A disco ball, rotating every so often. Balloons and streamers reflecting the joyful smiles and happiness in the mansion. The food was a success, being served from the dining table. Lots of chattering everywhere. Non stop fun.
However, something evil and cruel awaited the Smash Mansion. Not to mention, Niho.

"Party surprise, a success! Am I right?" Marth laughed. Ike arched an eyebrow. "Um, I think you mean surprise party and yea. . ."
Ike stared at the girls that were all gathered around Makato. "What's bothering me is the girls are all hogging her."
"Ooh~! Jealous, huh?" Marth snickered.
"Don't make me spill this fruit punch on your easy-to-stain clothing." Ike said, referring to his prince outfit.
Marth laughed again. "Hahahaha! You wouldn't dare." Marth then said with a cold voice. Ike smirked and nodded his head, tipping his cup to a 30 degree angle. Roy slapped Ike's back very hard as his greeting. "Hey, guys! Let's party!"
Ike lost his balance as the sugary drink splashed onto Marth's royal outfit. "OH MY GOD! WHAT DID YOU JUST DO-?!" Marth screamed in terror.
"Hey! It wasn't me! It was this redhead!" Ike pointed to Roy.
Roy was confused. "Huh? What's going on? Hey, Marth, you got a little stain on your shirt-."
"BITCH, I KNOW! NOW IT'S TIME FOR YOU GUYS TO GET STAINED-!" Marth grabbed the sheath of his sword and drew out his Falchion in a very swift manner. Ike handed his punch over to Roy and patted his shoulder. "Well, I gotta go."
"Hey, hey!" Roy forcefully handed the fruit punch back to Ike. "I'm not going to die!"
"It's your fault! Take your punishment!"
"No! It's your fault for holding that stupid drink!"
Roy and Ike started to argue, regardless of their future deaths. Marth raised his sword, getting prepared to slice them. Before he did strike, Robin came out of nowhere, tapping Ike's shoulder. "Ike, can I borrow you for a sec?"
Ike turned to the white-haired teen and shrugged. "I don't know."
"It'll be quick, I promise."
Ike followed Robin to a less crowded destination during the party. Ike noticed one of his hands were occupied with a small bag. Robin faced Ike and handed the mysterious bag to Ike. "I wanted to give this to you."
Ike took the bag and checked what was inside. A familiar looking case from the jewelry store. The mercenary then opened it and was surprised to see what it was.
"The Forever Necklace!"
"Ah, you know about it then?!"
"Well, I was in the store. . . Wait, are you confessing to me?" Ike stared at Robin cautiously. Robin made a giant grin across his face.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's very funny!" He bursted out.
". . .So, you are-?"
"No!" Robin exclaimed. He cleared his throat. "I just wanted you to give the necklace to someone important to you, in your life. Nothing more. Nothing less."
Ike really thought the necklace was a gift for Makato. Now that it was confirmed, Ike smiled. "I appreciate it, Eagle."
"Really, no problem."
"Oh, I should give you something in return." Ike grabbed a little greeting card from his shirt.
"No, no! You don't have to give me anything."
"Come on. That necklace was expensive, at least let me give you something." Ike handed the card to Robin without warning. "Here."
"What's this?" Robin scanned the card.
"A. . . greeting card." He couldn't say it was a gift for Makato. "Keep it, if you want."
". . .Thank you, Mister Ike."
'Why a poem, when I can give her a necklace?' Ike smirked.
8:35 P.M.
"Ok, Makato-chan you'll need to sit on this chair." Marth lead Makato to a throne-like chair that was highly decorated with shiny golden pearls and crystals to know its superior.
"What are we doing?" Makato asked, being forced to sit.
"You'll see." He smiled, walking away right after. The crowd gathered around Makato. Some sat, others stood. Master Hand and Crazy Hand watched from the background. Mario tapped his wireless microphone to test if it was working properly.
"Testing, 1, 2, 3. Ok! This is the time to give out words for the birthday girl, words of encouragement, funny stories to share, etc. The time is now! Is there anyone who would like to go?"
The audience was silent. No one opened their mouths nor did they move. Makato watched the crowd, expecting something or someone to say something. It was a weird and awkward atmosphere.
Mario cleared his throat once more. "It seems I wasn't clear enough. . . It's now the time to say something, unless you're all shy. . ."
"Um, can you give us an example?" Someone then asked.
"Example?" Mario arched an eyebrow.
Peach waved her hand from the crowd which gotten everyone's attention. "I'll go! Mememememe!"
Zelda and Samus glanced at each other, both raising their hands as well. "Then we'll go too."
Mario sighed in relief. "At least someone knows. . . Ok then. You three can go."
The three of them walked over to Makato face to face. Peach grabbed the microphone away from Mario and began her speech.
"Happy Birthday Makato! It's been great having you ever since you came. I enjoyed my days with you! Shopping, eating, playing, gossiping, all of that! Let's continue in the near future!"
Makato was touched from her words. "Peach. . ."
Zelda took the microphone from Peach. "Makato, you're such a sweet girl. Your presence made me so joyful and happy. Happy Birthday!" Zelda handed the mic over to Samus. The bounty hunter tapped on it and cleared her throat.
"Happy Birthday, Makato. Thank you for being a great friend. There were some good times and bad times between us. But, in the end, I'm glad we made up. . . .I don't know what else to say." Laughter rose from the audience as it slowly turned back into cheering and applauding. Samus roughly handed the microphone back to Mario.
"Thank you, Peach, Zelda, and Samus."
Mario nodded happily, "Thank you, thank you."
"Mine turn!" The cheerful angel flew over to Makato, giving her the most tightest hug ever. Ike, Marth, and Roy twitched from his unexpecting actions.
Finally releasing her, he took the microphone away from Mario. "Happy Birthday, Makato! You see what I did there? That was Palutena's Blessings upon you!"
"Thank you, Pit!"
"Yea right!" Someone shouted.
Just when Pit returned to the crowd, Marth approached the angel. Lowering his voice, he then asked the angel, "Why did you hug her?"
"Why not?" Pit answered with a grin. "Just a blessing. Is it wrong?"
"I don't know about your religion but. . ." Marth sweat dropped. "Makato kinda has a. . . lover now."
"It's not Mikoru is it?"
"No, that wouldn't make sense! It's someone in this house. . . Can you guess?"
Pit closed his eyes and began to think of the mystery guy.
"Uh. . ."
"Pit, you should know by now. Stop being so dense. Here, I'll give you a hint." Marth checked to see if he wasn't watching them. Luckily, he wasn't. "The one who ripped your wings off."
Pit made a loud gasp in return. "You don't mean Ganondorf?!"
"No, no! Besides him." Marth shook his hand. Pit crossed his arms and sighed. "Well, I don't know anyone who would rip my wings off, besides Ganondorf. . . . Unless. . .!" Pit opened his eyes widely. "Ike! Yea. . . but," Pit shook his head. "That's impossible. He's mean and ruthless! Why would Makato date a guy like him? That's not possible. . ."
"Ahahaha. You'll figure it out sooner or later. . ."
During some chatter, Ganondorf stomped over to Mario and swiped the microphone after Yoshi that went. Everyone was surprised, shocked even, to see Ganondorf in the flesh, ready to say something to Makato.
Makato kinda leaped out from her throne, now wanting to leave. But she didn't wanted to be rude at the same time. Small drops of sweat teared down from her face as she stared at Ganondorf. She knew that he wasn't here to say something fun or exciting.
Words to bring her discouraged perhaps.
Ganondorf spoke in his deep and loud voice. "Little Girl."
"Makato." She corrected him with a hint of anger. Ganondorf laughed his 'I don't care' laugh. Everyone watched, unable to speak. Ike's eyes were only on Ganondorf's evil looking body.
"You were just a tool. No. . . A lottery to get a jackpot from the bank. Unfortunately, I lost it all. . . Many times I tried to take you, but failed."
Ganondorf stepped forward to Makato that was still sitting on the throne. "Now listen," He started, "What I did was stupid in the past. And I just wanted to say. . . I'm. . ."
Makato was surprised from his words. Was he going to apologize?
Ganondorf smirked and said with a loud voice, "I'm not going to give up! So you better watch out! Hahahahaha!" Dropping the microphone, he walked away. Everyone stared at his back, watching him leave.
"O-okay. . ." Makato scratched her head in response. Mario grabbed the microphone and shook his head. "Anyways, who's next?"
Miru raised his hand as he walked over to Mario, Taking the microphone, he faced Makato. He took quiet steps toward her and stopped, so that he was face to face with her. This caught Michelle's attention.
"Makato, Happy Birthday. Thank you, for being in my life. I enjoyed being your guinea ever since we were little kids. Especially being a little, blue bird. Honestly it was hell, but thank you. . ." Miru paused, swallowing as if there was something stuck and sticky in his throat. The crowd laughed right after. "Thank you for being my friend. And. . . thank you for helping my family. . . If it weren't for you, I wouldn't even be here. . ."
"Miru. . ." Makato couldn't help but to get up out of her seat to embrace him. Understanding his feelings. Miru hugged her back and everyone clapped.
"Aww, I wanna a hug. . ." Pit pouted. Roy turned to Pit who was right next to him. "But, dude, I see what you did there. Getting a free hug. No one thought of that till now." Roy snickered. Pit smirked and nodded slowly. Tifa watched from afar. Hearing the word, 'childhood friend' reminded herself that she too also had a valuable childhood friend. Turning to him, Cloud looked back at Tifa with a blank face.
"Cloud, don't you want to hug. . .?" Tifa murmured.
"Want what?" He asked, not hearing what she said. Tifa blushed and shook her head. "It's nothing. Forget I said anything! Hehe."
More Smashers said their thoughts and compliments to the birthday girl.
"Stay fast!" Sonic made a thumbs up to the potion princess.
"Show me your moves!" Captain Falcon quoted his same quote.
"Stay alert." Meta Knight spoke in his deep voice referring to the crazy bird race car driver.
"Woof!"
"Quack!" The dog and duck cuddled in Makato's arms for their way of saying thank you. Whiskers De Pablo just meowed.
Marth walked up to Makato. After he gave his praises and stories about her, the prince leaned in to Makato's ear, hoping for no one to hear but her.
"I would like you to call me 'Big Brother' from now on, just when no one's around." Marth smiled beneath her ear. Makato face went red.
"Okay. . ."
Roy did the same just like Marth but with a different request. "Tell me everything about your break-up with Ike when it happens."
Makato wasn't sure if he was being funny or not. While the audience present their own stories and praises to Makato, Mario watched Cloud, talking to Sonic. The plumber cleared his throat and mumbled something that even concerned his own health.
"Ever since he showed up, I've been losing my Italian accent. Damn him!"
Robin went up after Lucina, being handed the microphone. He stood in front of the potion princess.
"Makato, thank you for the time when you helped me with my memories. I'll never forget."
Makato smiled and nodded. Robin kept on talking.
"The dinner with your father was fun. The other time when you were a boy was hilarious. The Garden at the Hot Springs, oh. . . It's best if I didn't mention that. Hahahahaha. . ."
The crowd sweat dropped.
"Eagle talks too much." Ike said angrily.
Marth agreed. "He talks too much."
"He needs to stop talking."
"He needs to stop talking."
"Stop mimicking me." Ike eyed the prince.
"Aren't you going to say something?" Marth asked.
"Hm?" Ike wasn't really understanding his question.
"You know? Go up to Makato-chan?"
"I'm the kind of guy who keeps their mouth shut. I prefer not to talk. I'm not a public speaker. I speak using my actions. I don't-"
"Ok! Ok!" Marth placed his hand over his mouth, muting the rest of his words. Marth released his hand away from his mouth and crossed his arms. "Maybe she wants you to say something. At least one word." Marth turned his head to the princess. "See? You see that look on her face? She's concerned."
Ike stared at Makato and she did looked a little flustered. "Oh, you're right."
'I need to use the restroom. . .' Makato didn't know when this would end.
Mario clapped his hands loudly for attention. "Ok guys! How about one more so we can continuing partying?!"
Marth nudged Ike so he could go up and make a speech. Slowly Ike raised his hand. But before Mario took noticed, Kirby swiped the microphone away from the plumber.
"I wrote a song!" Kirby chirped, showing his paper that was written with lyrics to Makato. In his other hand, he held a jukebox.
Ike put his arm down in a slow fashion. "Well, too late for making a speech."
Kirby continued, "Using an accompanist with the beats of 'Worth It' by Fifth Harmony."
"Cool, let's hear it!" Makato said.
Most of the Smashers gasped loudly in horror.
"Oh God! Kirby's singing?!"
"This is bad!"
"He's going to assassinate her!"
"Get the ear plugs!" Mario put earmuffs on Makato including himself. The rest of the crowd, tried to cover their ears. The beat started to play very loud. No one could hear themselves. The bass shook the grounds of the mansion. Kirby slid his cool black, sleek shades and added a pink hair wrap on his bald pink head for the purpose of his lyrics. He began with a very scream-like voice while the sax played in the background.
"I'M TIRED YALL BITCHES IN THIS HOUSE! YALL GONNA MAKE ME LOSE MY MIND! WHERE'S THE FUCKING POTIONS?! WHERE'S THE FUCKING POTIONS?! WHAT WHAT THE FUCK?! Give it to me I'm- I DIDN'T GET NO SLEEP CAUSE OF YALL! YALL NEVER GONNA SLEEP CAUSE OF ME! I DIDN'T GET NO SLEEP CAUSE OF YALL! YALL NEVER GONNA SLEEP CAUSE OF ME! Give it to me I'm- I DIDN'T GET NO SLEEP CAUSE OF YALL! YALL NEVER GONNA SLEEP CAUSE OF ME! I DIDN'T GET NO SLEEP CAUSE OF YALL! YALL NEVER GONNA SLEEP CAUSE OF ME! WAKE UP!"
The 30 second song finally ended. Kirby removed the head wrap and the shades and said with a cheerful voice, "That's my mixtape!"
Makato wasn't able to hear the song, but clapped anyway. She removed the ear muffs and handed them back to Mario. Before she knew it, everyone was on the ground like sardines. One thing they had in common was their bloody ears and eyes.
Makato began to panic a little, confused.
"Mario, why is everyone laying on the ground? Are we playing Heads Up-Seven Up?!"
Mario sweat dropped. "Not quite. . ."
"Fufu!" Michelle giggled from the balcony, somehow not affected from Kirby's dreadful singing. Thankfully, the audience slowly started to get up back to their feet, one by one.
9:30 P.M.
"Fighting Mikoru by midnight! Winning potions by daylight!" The Smashers sang.
"Well, we got one pinata! A giant Kirby one!" Luigi showed the giant, Kirby pinata to everyone. It was bigger than an average pinata. While other Smashers helped to hang it on the giant ceiling, Robin studied the pinata.
"A giant, Kirby pinata. . . 900 HP. So 50 damage a swing will do! A 75% chance of crit is most wonderful! This might work. . ."
The pinata was finally set up, swaying slowly from the high ceiling, being connected with a long, durable rope. Lucina continued to watch Robin making disturbing eye gestures at the pinata.
Robin stretched forth his hand. "Everyone! Follow my lead! I've got the perfect plan to destroy this thing!"
Lucina sweat dropped. "Robin, it's just a pinata. . ."
"Lucina, we're dealing with an enemy greater than Garon."
Luigi showed the bat to everyone, especially to the little kids. "Everyone, we'll be using this bat for the pinata." The little Smashers formed a line, very excited to get some candy. Kirby wasn't offended from the pinata. Which, surprised Ike a little.
Ness swiped the bat from Luigi. "Since it was my idea, I get to go first!" Link grabbed Ness from the back of his shirt, before he could destroyed the pinata. "Whoa there, Makato gets to go first."
"I do love candy, but I would rather much watch." Makato shook her hands in declination.
"Well, you got her permission. But you need a blindfold first."
Ness spatted out laughing. "What in the heck is a blind fold?"
Everyone was finally settled. The kids made a line, bouncing up and down with excitement. Luigi made quick rules on a sheet of paper. "No cheating! No using PK stuff! Only the bat!"
"Yea yea!" Ness swung the bat blindly. "I'm no kid!"
Toon Link crossed his arms, not deciding to take part in the long line. "You need to be fast in order to get the main prize: the Kirby Pinata corpse! The main corpse always contain at least 75% more candy."
Ness gripped onto the bat firmly, using his five senses. He made the first swing crying out, "PK SWING!" All his strength into that swing, he felt the body of the Kirby being brought to justice. Candy exploding everywhere, the line of kids broke free like a swarm of flies, scattering away from a thunderous sound. Everyone celebrated.
"Minus 30." Robin said not surprised. It was only Ness' imagination that made him hit 30 damage onto the Kirby.
"Harder than I thought!" Ness smacked the piece of cloth out from his face to the ground, stomping back to the end of the line. It was then Pikachu's turn to make a move.
"Hey, isn't there where you have to spin three times?" Pit scratched his brown fluffy hair.
Marth tapped Ike's shoulder. "What kind of pinata did you guys get?"
"Those really sharp and durable cardboard kinds of pinata." Ike answered bluntly. "It'll take a gun to destroy it."
"Pit was right! You are ruthless!"
Ike didn't say anything but to watch the pinata.
Robin kept on calculation everyone's hits from the pinata that were not scientific. "So far, we got 30, 20, 15, 22, 23, damage!"
"Stop with the calculating!" Roy said.
Snake overheard what Ike said about guns being able to eliminate the pinata.
"Guns, huh?" Snake pulled out his missile launcher bazooka thing, aiming it at the Kirby pinata. Ike almost choked on his spit from Snake's actions.
"I didn't meant literally-!"
A giant explosion was made at the Kirby pinata, instantly catching on fire. Everyone turned their heads to Snake. The little kids began wailing over their burnt candy.
"Waaaa!"
"NOOO!"
"SNAKE! SNAKE SNAAAAAAKE!"
Snake blew the rest of the smoke from his gun. "The more you know, Ike. The more you know. . ."
"Shut up. You freaking blew up Kirby."
A giant commotion of fighting and arguing grew against Snake. Zelda watched Makato and her happy expression.
'The Golden Flower Goddess, and what if the threat. . . comes now?'
Everyone just said, 'fuck the pinata!' and head straight to the main part of this party: The birthday cake.
In the dining room, the lights were out for this very moment as every single guest and Smasher surrounded the birthday girl. Makato sat on a chair with the cake in front of her. Seventeen colorful candles were placed onto the monster-size birthday cake. Master Hand and Crazy Hand took some pictures to remember this very day, because hands DO NOT have brains. The type of cake was very unknown, for it was decorated with assorted candies, gummy bears, gummy worms, oreos, whipped cream, cherries, bananas, strawberries, cookies, and many colors of frosting.
"What kind of cake is it?" Falco couldn't help but to ask.
"It's chicken flavor, what did you expect?" Ike said.
"It's not chicken flavor! It's pure chocolate I bet!" Ness exclaimed.
"I'm betting on vanilla." Samus said.
"Ice cream cake!" Toon Link shouted.
"If it was, our heated bodies would have melted the cake." Meta Knight said.
"If you ask me, it looks more like a regular cake." Marth said.
"What is a regular cake to you?" Roy asked the prince.
"The one with a regular flavor of course."
"Wouldn't it be nice to live together. . ." Pit shook his head.
"Who made this cake?" Miru wondered.
"The Cooks, of course. . ." Zelda said.
"Aren't you in the Cooks?" Marth asked.
"Can we SHUT UP AND SING HAPPY BIRTHDAY?!" Someone yelled. Everyone looked toward that person and it happened to be Kirby, nibbling some parts of the cake, while everyone argued what kind of cake it would be.
"Stop eating the cake!" Pit shouted at Kirby.
"Guys, it's a-!" Kirby was about to spoiled the mystery cake till he was thrown by the mercenary.
"Let's just sing. . ." Link sighed.
"Whoa, whoa. If we're going to sing? What key?" Peach asked the crowd.
"I don't speak music." Roy said.
"Ok, we'll sing on the key of F minor 7th flat 5!"
"What does that even mean?!" Lucas cried.
"Just follow my lead." Peach winked, specifically at Cloud, which woke him up.
"Ok, F minor whatever, what kind of style?" Mario asked.
"The regular style!" Marth answered.
"What's the regular?" Roy asked.
"The regular song that everyone knows of course."
"Wouldn't it be nice to live together. . ." Pit shook his head once more.
"Let's just sing." Miru said, getting bored of standing and staring at the only light.
Peach raised her hand in the air, showing three fingers. "On my mark! One, two, three!"
"HAAA-PEE BIIIIRTHDAY TO YOOOOUUUU! HA-PEE BERTH-DAY TEW YOUUUUU! HA-PII BURTHDAY, DEAR MAKATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! HAVPPY BIRTHDAY TO YEWWWWWWW! AND MANY MOREEEEEE~! Olay!" The song ended with a roar of applause and screams and cheers.
"Thank you everyone. . ." Makato was about to blow the candles out but was stopped by a giant 'WAIT!'
"You have to make a wish." Mario said. "Then you blow out the candles!"
"Or you can publicly speak out your wish." Robin said smiling.
Makato closed her eyes and made her wish out loud. "I wish days like this would never end."
And then she blew out the candles. Clapping appeared once again. Mario cutted the cake in equal parts, so nobody would get the biggest nor the smallest piece of the cake.
"Oh! This cake is all of the above." Ike noticed the inside of the cake.
"I feel sick. . ." Marth covered his mouth. "I haven't eaten much. . ."
"Hahaha." Ike let out a laugh. Taking two giant bites of his cake, the mercenary went back to get some more while Marth complained about his upset stomach. When Ike arrived at the cake, he noticed that only a fourth of the cake was gone! Now seeing the little, pink puff ball for fifths.
As if he would count Kirby's cubes of cake.
Ike took a cube of cake, getting some of the red velvet and some lemon that were fused in. The party so far was noisy and obnoxious and obviously crowded. While slowly eating his cake, Ike wandered around the mansion, just at least some feet away from the party. Walking around with a plate of cake in his left hand and a fork in his right hand.
He passed by some Smashers who were doing the same thing. He met Zelda along the way and waved his fork. Zelda nodded her head and made a gentle smile, continuing to pass him. Ike stopped his feet, now seeing Makato walking the opposite direction. She looked up, now noticing his stuffed face. Ike quickly swallowed and cleared his throat. "My Bae. . ." He muttered, walking toward her. He stopped right in front of her, only a few feet from her.
"Hello, Ike- -wait, what?" She answered.
"I said, hello, Makato." Ike smirked. "Where are you going?"
"Just going to the restroom." Makato fiddled with her hair.
"Oh, okay."
". . .If you excuse me." Makato waved him good-bye and walked by passed him. He turned his head, only seeing her back. Ike could only wished he would say something to Makato during those 'specials words' to Makato. Slowly, Ike turned around and followed her, hoping to get that chance back.
"Oh! Ike! You were. . . waiting for me?" Makato asked, arriving out of a guest bathroom. Ike released his plate and fork on a nearby mini table. "You must think I'm not nice guy."
"What are you talking-?"
"I didn't give any stories. . . about in you, in front of everyone. Even Ganondorf."
Makato placed her hand over his arm to mute him for a second. "Ike, honestly, I wasn't expecting you to come up and talk."
What she said surprised Ike a little.
"So much happened between us. It's better if it was kept to ourselves."
"Yea, you're right." Ike sighed, still a little disappointed.
"We're not in the public eye anymore." Makato sort of regretted the words she said. "Maybe you can. . . say something-"
"I will." Ike interrupted, getting on one knee. He held her hands firmly, while staring at her ocean blue eyes. Ike felt the heat of her hands and the trembling. She was more to be embarrassed than shy, Ike thought.
"Happy Birthday, Makato. Meeting you was one of the greatest things in my life. When I first saw you, it was love at first sight. I wanted to deny it at first, but somehow, I couldn't. It was fun getting to know you. I'm proud to be the one to save you from those kidnappings. . . many times. . ." Ike paused, wanting to burst out laughing. Make note, kidnapping is NOT funny.
"And it wasn't anyone else. . ." Ike slowly got up back onto his feet and placed his hand on her chin. "Being with you, made my day. . . 'Specially when we ate cinnamon rolls together."
Makato blushed even more than ever, letting out a laugh to keep her face from exploding. Ike smirked from her reaction and laughed as well.
"You took my heart, during the Mario and Sonic War. . . I've been ignoring my feelings towards you, hoping it was just a bluff." Makato spoke.
"Now you don't have to ignore them."
"Ike. . ." Makato smiled.
Ike released her hands and pulled her in for a hug. He moved her footsteps as they ran against a wall. Makato was taken back from his surprise but kept her balance, hugging him back. Breaking the hug, Ike smiled at her and walked away, just like that. Makato didn't have the time to react to his actions, but he came back seconds later, dragging Marth and Roy's corpse, presenting her.
"You guys like to play 'I Spy' don't you?" Ike smiled his 'you're gonna die' smile.
"Hehehe." They both nervously laughed in sync.
"Marth, Roy. . ." Makato stared at them.
"We were just wondering where you guys were." Roy choked out.
"Sure sure." The mercenary crossed his arms, staring down at them. Marth got up and dusted himself.
"Let's all have fun, together!" Marth clasped his hands. "Right now, the Cha Cha Slide is playing!"
"That sounds fun!" Makato gleamed. "What's a Cha Cha Slide?"
The three guys stared at her, as if she was crazy. "You're kidding right?"
The potion princess stared back at them. "What?"

The birthday party began to wine down to an end. Just leaving the mansion as it is, most head back to their comfy bedrooms. Cloud and Tifa made their way back to their home. Robin wanted to give Makato's gift in private before he left. He was lucky to meet her, walking down the hallway.
"Oh! Makato! I wanted to give you this. . ." Robin caught up to Makato and handed her something that looked like a happy birthday card.
"Robin, thank you very much!" Makato took the card and opened it. It was written like a poem.
Secret admire,
I've been watching you.
I tried the running man last night,
Sadly, impossible.
Because every night, you fly me to the moon
Holding hands, I hope tomorrow is mine.
Just being with you made me know,
Life is not just filled with happiness
Nor sorrow
I'm lost in thoughts, all alone when you leave me.
I tried to be a smooth criminal,
But couldn't, for the ocean's gray waves swept my sad-ass kokoro- -
AKA, heart.
Together we ride on the moon river,
And never forget, those two drifters
You and, meeeeeeheeeheeeheeeeeeeee~!
Ike was walking down the same hallway as well, but stopped and made a quick hiding spot. He saw Makato holding a familiar paper that looked like the gift Ike gave to Robin. It then hitted him.
Robin gave that card to Makato.
Makato was in tears before she knew it. 'This poem, moved me, in such a way. It sounded like a love letter. . .' Makato faced Robin. "This means so much to me. . . thank you so much."
'She actually liked it?!' Ike questioned his own mind. He knew for sure that the poem he wrote would be just nonsense, but she actually liked it! It was very weird, Robin gave it to her. . . And it was basically a love poem.
Was Robin confessing his feelings, using the poem after he read and analyzed it that it could be somehow a. . . love letter?
Robin smiled. "Such words can change a heart, you know? But I am not the one who wrote this."
"Wait, you didn't write this?! . . .I'm confused."
"To explain it, he was too shy to give it to you in public, So I became his messenger!" Robin lied.
Ike was frustrated, yet guilty. 'No, I gave it to him. It's not mine anymore. Why. . . Robin?'
"Who wrote this?" Makato asked, wanting to know.
"You'll see." He winked. Robin then waved good-bye, walking away. "I got to go now. Lucina is waiting for me. . . Bye."
"Wait," Makato faced her eyes at the back of his hair. "Thank you for giving me this."
". . .You're welcome." Robin was out of sight right after. Makato glanced back at the letter. "I wondered who wrote it?" She continued to walk down the hallway. Ike watched her back and sighed, holding the Forever Necklace inside his shirt.
"It's best if I don't approach her. Just her words, made my day. . ."
10:59 P.M.
Everyone should be asleep at this quiet, night hour. Makato wanted to sleep in her sailor uniform, except without her hat being on her head.
"Oh, what a day!" Makato decided to change into her pajamas instead, so she wouldn't at least catch a cold right after her birthday party. Makato got up from her bed and noticed something new on her desk. An envelope with a golden 'T' sticker. . . Recognizing the symbol, she gasped loudly.
"Mother!" She ran toward her desk, grabbing the letter, carefully opening it.
Makato, My Sweet Child,
I just want you to know how happy I am that you were able to send a letter to me! I've missed you so much, even I forgot to mail you! I heard what my husband said about you while he was there. I will confirm, 85% of the Faithful Knights were gone. It shall be well. I also sense a war coming up. A possible attack upon the Village of Niho is unquestionable. Thank you for sending your potions to us. They will be a very great use. Something has been bothering me ever since you mentioned a woman named Michelle. I have never heard such name before! She is not my friend. I do not know any woman named Michelle. I believe you are being watched. Which could maybe link to the 85% of the Faithful Knights' disappearance. Which she could be linked to Mikoru somehow. How could she even know your name and your location when only your father and I know? I sense a great danger upon you! Please, please be careful around her! She might be the enemy!
Queen of Niho,
Rosalinda Tachibana
A sudden knock rang through Makato's door at this late hour.
"Makato, sweetie! It's auntie! I want to see you! I got a very special gift, just for you!"
'I could even feel Mother's worries through this letter. . . I understand everything. . . Who is that woman? My suspicions were quite right. . .'
"Makato? Hello?" She called out. The way she sounded, Makato knew she wouldn't be asleep at this hour.
Makato turned to the door. "I'm coming! Just a sec! 'I must expose her. . . But first, I must prepare my army. . .'"
Walking away from the door, Makato brought out a crate that was labeled 'Stone Soldier'.
A/N: Thanks for reading! What might happen at this night? O_o What is Michelle planning? Find out next time~! Till next time!
