Chapter 62: Yumi and Makato

June 3rd

8:00 A.M.

Makato's POV

Knock, knock.

"Princess Makato! You bath is ready! Please wake up!" A girly voice called out through my door. Still wanted to sleep, I forced my eyes opened, glimpsing at the light that shined through my curtains. Ever since that day, I was to be watched and assisted by Yumi, one of Mikoru's soldiers. I didn't like it one bit. At least I was given more freedom than before. I'm able to leave my room and the castle, but only assisted.

"Coming!" I responded, slowly removing myself from the heavy blankets.

"I have your tooth brush and all the hygienes!" She called out.

I opened the door to see Yumi standing right in front of me, carrying the bath utility and a couple of towels. For some reason, she wasn't like the other Dark Knights.

"Ready to bathe?" She asked me.

". . .Yes." I got a head start walking while Yumi closed the door for me. We were greeted by other soldiers that walked on the same hallways as us.

"Good Morning Lady Yumi and Princess Makato." A Dark Knight said.

"Morning Lady Yumi and Princess Makato. May Mikoru watch over you." Another soldier greeted.

I didn't respond but Yumi sure did with a bright smile. She's a bit taller than me, that's for sure. She's always smiling around me. She's always smiling. It was strange. But for some reason, her smiles brought some hope into me. Just a tiny bit. And I couldn't help but to smile.

"Ah!" Yumi gasped at me. "You smiled, Princess!"

I blushed and faced away. "No, I did not."

"You're lying!" She laughed.

Yumi's POV

I continued to laugh, I hate this bitch. Mikoru doesn't need need to marry her! I'll show her. . . not to mess with me.

(oOoOoOo)

Makato's POV

"And we're here!" Yumi said as we both arrived at the bathing area.

Did I mentioned she takes baths with me?

Yumi's POV

Sometimes I want to drown her to death.

(oOoOoOo)

Normal POV

Usually Yumi would help Makato clean the places that weren't really possible for her to do on her own.

"Let me wash your back, Princess!" Yumi offered whether she liked it or not.

"Oh, thank you," Makato moved her long hair out of the way so Yumi would scrub her back.

"You have such nice skin! Lord Mikoru would love it a lot." Yumi complimented her back.

"Heh, I don't really give a flying crap." Makato grinned to herself. Yumi popped a vein, irritated from her answer. 'You son of a bitch! You don't deserve him!'

"Ahaha! Don't say that! He's going to be your husband!" Yumi faked her smiled. Her emotions transferred into her scrubbing and Makato responded with a yelp.

"Hey! You're scrubbing too hard!" Makato exclaimed.

"Oh! My apologies!"

They both had the same question in their minds. 'When will this end?'

(oOoOoOo)

10:30 A.M.

"And today's breakfast will be," The chef of the house placed Makato's food first, "cinnamon scones with a peaches and cream omelet. With a glass of warm milk for the Princess. And for the Lady Yumi, a cranberry orange muffin with a low fat greek yogurt. And a side of orange juice."

Makato stared at her food, unpleased. "Unacceptable." Makato pushed the plate of food away from her and crossed her arms. Yumi eyed her actions and arched a brow.

The chef frowned, "Excuse me? What may be the problem, Princess-?"

"I don't want a cinnamon scone! I want a cinnamon roll! Don't give me such a sweet omelet! And I like my eggs scrambled! No, don't give me eggs. I want a strawberry crepe with whipped cream instead!"

"Deepest apologies, Princess! I will give you what you wished for!" The chef bowed and grabbed the plate of food.

"Princess, shouldn't you be grateful for what the chef had gave us?" Yumi said.

"The chef can eat the food then." Makato glanced at the chef.

"Oh no! I-I can't do such!"

"I don't want it. Make me what I want."

"Y-yes! Right away!" He then hurried to the kitchen without tripping on his loose laces. "I do love cinnamon scones. . . hehe." He murmured at the end.

"There," Makato faced Yumi. "At least someone is grateful."

Yumi's POV

This always happens! Lord Mikoru came by to see Makato with no food. Then he would yell at me.

"Yumi, where's her food? Who said you could get your meal first?! I better not see this again!" Mikoru then walked away. I couldn't explain myself, plus. . . SHE didn't even say a single word! Only to look innocent! Ugh! I hate her so much!

The day between us would usually end with a stroll around Mikoru's future utopia. Makato would watch the horizon from the balcony. Oh, how much I wanted to push her off to her death! I'll punish her, without Mikoru knowing. . .

Lunch hours came. . .

2:00 P.M.

Normal POV

Makato requested to have her lunch in her room, which Yumi didn't mind one bit. Yumi carried her tray of food to her room and onto the small table right in front of her bed.

"Today's meal will be a hot chicken parmesan sandwich and a side of clam chowder. . . no bacon. And your drink is a raspberry sparkling tea."

Makato nodded and took a bite of the sandwich first. It was very delicious indeed that she didn't noticed Yumi as she finished almost half of her sandwich. Makato eyed Yumi without hesitation. "You can leave now. I would like to eat my lunch privately."

Yumi cracked a smile. "Heh, I'm afraid I can't do that, Princess. When you're done eating, I would like to speak to you afterwards. So, I'll wait."

". . .I'm a slow eater you know. Just tell me now." Makato set her sandwich down to get Yumi's full attention.

"Ok, I'll be brief about this. . ." Yumi pulled out her staff from her back. Makato noticed the change in her voice. It sounded very hateful and discouraging. "Ever since you meddle into Lord Mikoru's life, I've grown to hate you. And I want you dead. But Mikoru wants you alive." Yumi pointed her staff at her. "But I guess I can give you some pain, lots of it. So that you'll know, not to mess me." Yumi swiped her staff right on Makato's table as it crashed against a wall.

"Oh, the food. . ." Makato turned her head toward the mess Yumi made.

"You wouldn't want to eat the food once I tell you this." Yumi smirked. "I've added some poison that would make your insides vomit to death. I'm only just exaggerating the death part. . . . Yea. I can't let you die. . ."

Makato had this shocked look on her face. And just when she said it, she began to throw up. It felt like her gallbladder was shivering up over and over again. Just how much poison did she put in her meal? Loud coughs and hacks. Yumi watched. She enjoyed her suffering.

"Ah, Princess. You should probably get a potion for your stomach. . . or. . ." Yumi came in with a hard kick to the Makato's stomach. ". . .The pain will be coming over and over again."

Saliva and food shot out from her mouth as she collapsed on her acidic remains. Yumi placed her shoe on her head and fondled it, messing her hair. "Why must it be you?! I don't get it! You're better off dead!"

Makato kept coughing but she didn't speak. Yumi growled and stomped on her head. "Answer me!" Yumi released her foot from her head to calm herself before she gave her a concussion. She sighed and used her staff to summon the waters to clean the room and Makato. "Water!" Yumi only did that so Mikoru wouldn't suspect her. Makato however, kept on puking, so Yumi took her to the restroom.

(oOoOoOo)

"Hurry up!" Yumi yelled at the princess. She only responded with coughs and hacks.

"I guess I should get you some medicine, wait here." Yumi said. She faced her back and was about to leave the restroom. Makato didn't say anything, but to only crack a peek over her shoulder. She muttered the word "fool", enough for Yumi to catch. She quickly turned around and that was when she knew, she fucked up.

Makato roughy clenched Yumi's neck, just how she did to Samus.

"Ah! How are you still moving?! Impossible!" Yumi growled.

"Hehehe, I ate the poison you threw inside of me. . . Everything else, was just an act. Even the vomit." When Makato meant herself, she meant her dark side that was one with her.

"Thank you, Yumi. For being honest with me." Makato lifted her body off the ground, still squeezing her neck. Yumi became terrified, seeing her purple, sharp eyes. "Now. . . I can treat you, like I did to Michelle. . ."

'She played me for a fool! I'll show her, not to mess with me!' Yumi grabbed her staff from her back and commanded an attack. "Nullify!"

Makato felt her dark side fleeing from her attacks. "Ah! What?!"

"Heh," Yumi felt sweat slowly coming from her forehead. "Never. . . underestimate me. Fire Dragon!" A dragon appeared from her staff and Makato just had to release her. Even so, it was too late when the dragon attacked her with raging flames, making her crash against the wall. Her body was on fire as she screamed.

"Yumi. . . stop this-" Makato cried out.

"Don't tell me what to do! I had enough of your bullshit! Die!" Yumi summoned a wind dragon to ignite the flames even more. Before the wind dragon could reached her, a voice commanded her to stop.

"Yumi, enough."

'That voice! No. . .'

She turned her hair to see her lord standing right in front of the door. 'Lord Mikoru! He saw me! She even told me to stop! Damnit!'

"Forgive me. . .Lord Mikoru." Yumi trembled before his scary presence.

Mikoru walked into the restroom. He grabbed her hair and yanked it, furious. She groaned. "Yumi, don't make me end your useless life. I never gave you the permission to poison my wife and to abuse her. Here you thought I would never know about this, but you're dead wrong. As long as you have the Dark Knights symbols initial on your body, my eyes are your eyes. Get out, before I change my mind." Yumi did as told and quickly left. Once he heard the sound of the door slamming he sighed. "Honestly, not even a simple task. . . Maybe Jacob could be her replacement. . ." He spoke to himself. Mikoru stared at Makato, helpless, still burning from the fire.

(oOoOoOo)

'I smell something sweet. . . ' Makato opened her eyes and stared up at the ceiling before her eyes. She realized she was in her room again. Yumi wasn't there with her however.

"Yes, it's your favorite." A voice spoke. Makato had millions of chills in her spines when she saw Mikoru sitting on her bed at the far end, near her feet.

"Mikoru!" She stared at him, then at the cinnamon roll, loaded with cream cheese frosting, that was on a plate that HE was holding. Makato groaned from the sight of it.

"I have one bun here. Won't you share it with me?" Mikoru smirked. Makato eyed him as if he was in third grade that couldn't tie his own shoes.

"You wish. . ." Makato answered, laying back on her bed. A growl from her stomach screamed at Makato, rejecting her answer.

"Oh well, I guess I will be eating this alone. . ." As Mikoru slowly lifted the sweet bun to his lips, Makato couldn't watched him devour her dessert.

"No!" Makato cried out as if it was the last thing on earth. She lunged her body toward him to take what was hers. To take it without asking. Mikoru was a little surprised from her actions, raising the cinnamon bun up before her fingers could touch the tips of the sweet frosting. She failed, landing on his lap. She quickly removed herself from that position and sighed.

"The things you would do for a cinnamon. I can't even imagine. . ." Mikoru shook his head in disappointment. "Fine, have the whole bun. . ."

Makato's eyes lit up and her hands were reaching for the sun.

"But. . . I want you to sit on my lap." Mikoru didn't let her take it till she agreed so.

"You're crazy!" Of course she didn't want to do that. But her stomach hated her answer. Makato tried to fight her hungriness. "I rather starve then sit on your lap."

"Okay." Mikoru bluntly said, "I can always revive you, so in that case. . ." Mikoru took a bite of the cinnamon roll and Makato's heart had a fracture. She almost wanted to cry.

"Ah, don't finish it!" Makato whined. Mikoru stopped and patted his thighs. "Sit, I'll feed you."

"But you said-!"

"Oh boy! I can't wait to finish this cinnamon roll!"

"Ok! OK!" Makato positioned herself as Mikoru's chair. Mikoru grinned and ripped a tiny piece of the sweet bun to feed her. "Say ah~"

"'Ah' hope you shut up." Makato murmured and she opened her mouth to eat. Mikoru placed a piece of bun gently in her mouth.

"Good girl."

Makato's POV

I guess some things would never change. Nor would they erase, no matter how hard you try. There was. . . a gap between us. And that was when cinnamon rolls became my favorite dessert.
