Chapter 39 - The Confidence with Fairy Dust
"I've been thinking about having a party," said Bean as she lay on her bed. "I've wanted to start one since they were invented four years ago!"
"A party, huh? I'm down for that," said Luci.
"That sounds cool," said Elfo, but he then bore his usual worried expression and said, "But…I don't think your dad will be happy about a party in the castle."
It was evening, and Bean, Elfo, and Luci were all hanging out in Bean's room. Bean was banished to her room after calling her father, King Zog, and uber tubby. The trio spent the beginning of the evening just lying about and talking about whatever came to their minds. Bean would lay up from her bed and look over at Elfo. "Oh, who cares what he thinks? Do you know how awesome it would be for me to throw a party in the castle?" She said an excited grin would appear across her face.
"Ok, but how are you going to host a party with your dad around?" asked Elfo.
"Easy, I already have it planned out. My dad will get together with the Duke of Twinkle Town in a few weeks. The day he's going to leave will be on the weekend! It'll be perfect!"
"I don't know, Bean. I don't think this is a good idea," Elfo said worriedly.
"Oh, come on, Elfo, lighten up," said Bean, looking at Elfo with an annoyed expression. "I hardly ever get to do things like this. For once, I want to at least feel like an average teenager and not some princess that every guy in Dreamland is afraid of being with because of my tyrant father and stupid older brother."
"People are scared of your twin brother?" said Luci. "How could anyone be scared of that nerd? Doesn't he look himself in his room all day?"
"Tavish killed my first boyfriend," said Bean.
Elfo and Luci's eyes widened. "You're kidding…" said Luci, In disbelief.
"Nope," Bean said, shaking her head. "Tavish cut off my ex's head himself."
"NOICE!" said Luci.
"Well… that's taking the overprotective brother role a bit too far…." Elfo stated.
"And that's why I'm hoping he leaves with Dad. I won't have that asshole anywhere near my party," said Bean angrily.
"I don't know, Bean. Now that I know he did that, maybe It would be entertaining to have him around," said Luci, smirking.
"Or maybe we should play it safe and have the party somewhere else that's not the castle?" Elfo suggested.
"Ugh, Elfo, I want to have the party here at the castle. I'm going to invite as many people from Dreamland as possible," She crossed her arms. "Elfo, I want you to be there when we have the party, but I don't want you to bring the mood down with your overly cautious attitude."
"W-Wait, I can stop being overly cautious, I swear! This party is going to be amazing, Bean!" Elfo said frantically.
"Come to think of it," Bean scratches her cheek. "I wonder if Koga wants to come."
Elfo's heart would drop. "Koga?"
"Yeah!" Bean gleamed, and she hopped out of bed. "I gotta have him there! The party would be even better!"
"I mean, yeah, it would be great, and all but Koga is pretty anti-social, and you know he doesn't like being around a bunch of people, so maybe it's best that you do-"
"Elfo," said Luci.
"What?" Elfo replied, turning to face Luci. Luci points forward and sees that Bean already left. Elfo sighed sadly, resting his chin in both his hands. "Oh, man…"
"Tsk tsk tsk," said Luci, shaking his head. "Real smooth, Elfo."
"What are you talking about?" Elfo cast a scowl at Luci.
"You're so easy to read, you know that?"
"And what do you mean by, "I'm so easy to read" Huh?"
"You like Bean, that's obvious,"
Elfo's eyes widened, and his heart began beating. "No, I don't! I-I don't like Bean at all. I mean, sure, she has beautiful blue eyes and gorgeous white hair that smells like butterscotch…." Elfo would dawn a goofy smile on his face as he went on about his favourite things about Bean. He snaps out of his love-sick daze, "But that doesn't mean I have a crush on her!"
"Sure…" Luci said, with much doubt in his voice. "So why don't you tell her what you just said now?"
"NO WAY!" Elfo shouted. "I can't tell her all of that. It'll be awkward and weird; if I tell her how I feel, she'll turn me down, and the rejection would emotionally destroy me…."
"And that's exactly why I want to see it!" Luci laughed evilly. "But seriously though, you should tell her before she goes and starts confessing to Koga."
All this would do was make Elfo feel worse. "How in the world can I compete with Koga? That's impossible…"
"Maybe," said Luci. "Ok yeah, it'll be damn near impossible, but how about you go and show Bean that you're not a controlling and overly cautious guy? Just be laid back and cool."
"I'm just worried about her, ok? She can be pretty wild at times. It's not like I don't mind it, but I'm just trying to look out for her," said Elfo.
"I hate to break it to you, pal, but if you "Look out for her" too much, you'll probably begin to be controlling like her nerdy brother and loud dad," said Luci.
"Well…I…"
"Look, I got an idea on how to get you to chill out, Elfo. Let's go for a trip."
…
Elfo and Luci left Dreamland and walked on the dirt path heading to the enchanted forest. The two of them could hear the sounds of the forest fill their ears. It was as if someone was whispering in their ears. "Soo…why exactly are we heading into the enchanted forest?" asked Elfo as he and Luci stood at the forest entrance.
"What, you don't wanna just go for a walk and talk?" asked Luci.
"I don't mind going for a walk and talking. I find it strange that you want to go to the enchanted forest for some reason," Elfo said as he crossed his arms and gave Luci and suspicious look.
"Ugh, fine, I'll admit it. The reason I want to come to the enchanted forest is because I heard from someone that there's another way for you to get drugged out of your mind,"
Elfo raised a brow. "And what way is that?"
"Fairy dust!"
"Wait, what?"
"I heard that you can get the best high in the world if you take in fairy dust, AND it can even make you fly!" Luci said excitedly.
"Bull!" said Elfo.
"It might be. But there's only one way to find out!"
Elfo's eyes would gaze at the forbidden forest. Luci would whisper, "You know Bean would be impressed if she saw you fly…." Elfo's eyes widened a bit as he pondered on that thought. Then he gives in. "Well, alright. I gotta live a little, huh?"
"Exactly," Luci nods. "Come on, let's go!"
And so, the elf and the demon entered the enchanted forest. The forest still creeped out Elfo even though he had been in it before when looking for Koga. He couldn't imagine how terrible this place was when nighttime would arrive. Elfo would hear the sound of a twig breaking. He yelps and quickly turns around to see what it is. Luci would suddenly shout. "ELFO, LOOK OUT!" Elfo would scream and cover his face. "AHHH!" He screamed. "HAHAH!" Luci laughed. Elfo glared at Luci and was about to tell him off before a squirrel jumped out from the bushes and pounced on Elfo. The squirrel hissed and clawed as Elfo held it back. "LUCI, DO SOMETHING!" Elfo pleaded. Luci looked around and saw a long stick on the ground. He picks it up and swings it at the squirrel, but it jumps out of Elfo's hands, and Luci hits him straight in the face. Luci would repeatedly hit Elfo with the stick, and Elfo would shout, "STOP LUCI, YOU'RE HITTING ME!" Luci would reply, "I know! It's fun!" He laughed as he took another swing at Elfo, but he caught the stick and yanked it out of his hand. "Jerk-O!" He said as he tossed the stick away.
That's when Elfo heard something rustle in the bushes behind them again. At first, Elfo thought it was the squirrel coming back. But to Elfo's surprise, a small unicorn trots out from the bushes and stares at Elfo. Elfo gasped, clapped his hands together and said, "Awwww! Look at the cute unicorn!" He gleamed. The unicorn suddenly charged at Elfo, knocked him into the air, and ran into the forest. Elfo screams as he lands on the ground with a thud. Luci lets out a loud devious laugh and doubles over. Elfo closed his eyes in pain and said, "I hate you, Luci…" he groaned.
"That looked like it hurt. Are you ok little guy?"
Elfo opened his eyes, and floating above him, was an old-looking fairy with blond hair. "Oh wow! A fairy!" He said excitedly.
"Yeah, I'm a fairy. I've been one my whole life," said Sagatha. "So what brings you, fellows, out here? I don't remember seeing you two around here."
"Hi! I'm Elfo!" said Elfo cheerfully.
"Names Luci," He said, walking over to them.
"It's nice to meet you both. Well, I got some stuff I need to do, so I'll be on my way-"
"WAIT!" said Luci. "Can I ask you a question?"
"What is it?" said Sagatha.
"My elf friend and I came to the enchanted forest searching for a fairy-like yourself."
Sagatha crossed her arms. "Oh yeah? And why is that?"
"Can you get high off fairy dust?" Elfo asked.
Sagatha's eyes widen. She sighed and rubbed her head. "Oh boy, here we go again," She shook her head.
"So you can get high off fairy dust?!" said Luci excitedly.
"Yeah, you can get a good buzz going, but I don't recommend it," said Sagatha. "Once it starts, it'll last for hours."
"DO IT! DO IT, DO IT!" shouted Luci.
"Alright, fine. But don't say I didn't warn you," said Sagatha. She turned around and began fluttering her wings. Gold dust began falling to the ground. Elfo and Luci stood under the pixie dust and began inhaling it. The two stood there momentarily, waiting for it to take effect.
"I…I don't feel anything," said Elfo. He turns towards Luci, "Do you feel any-"Elfo's eyes widen. Luci was standing there with black fur all across his body and slit green eyes. "Whoa…"
"Elfo…you look…incredible…" said Luci. Elfo had long green ears and bright yellow eyes in Luci's eyes. Then, the area around them began to change. The darkness was gone, and the sun began to shine bright. The greyish and shady trees were now colourful green trees. The Woodlin creatures came out and started singing happily and gathering around Elfo and Luci.
"Luci, oh my god! This is amazing!" said Elfo, giggling. "I feel so alive!"
"Dude…my skin feels so soft…I feel so warm inside…" said Luci, feeling all over his body.
"And I feel…I feel light…" said Elfo, looking down at his feet.
"ELFO, LOOK!"
Elfo turned to Luci and gasped. Luci was floating slightly off the ground. "Luci, your floating!" he shouts. Luci was letting out childlike laughter. "OH, MY GOD! I'M FLYING! DO I HAVE WINGS?"
"YEAH, YOU DO!" said Elfo, pointing at Luci's back.
Luci gasped as he stared at the as he flapped his wings. "Oh my, I got my wings! HOLY SHIT!" He laughed as he began flying in the air. "I GOT MY WINGS! I GOT MY WINGS!"
"Wait, Luci! I wanna fly with you!" Elfo called out to him as he began flying in the air.
Elfo and Luci were soaring through the clouds, and the wind was hitting their face. Luci was flipping through the air, and Elfo placed his hands in the white clouds as he flew by. The sun in the sky opened its eyes, and it smiled at Elfo and Luci as they passed. "Hello Elfo and Luci!" He said to them all jolly-like.
"HELLO, SUN IN THE SKY!" said Elfo and Luci.
The sun winks at them as Elfo and Luci perform a nosedive into Dreamland. "BEAAAAN!" Elfo called out to him. "CAN YOU SEE ME FLYING!"
"Elfo?"
"BEAN?" Elfo could hear Bean's voice echoing in his head. "BEAN, WHERE ARE YOU?"
"Elfo, Luci! What the hell is wrong with you two?"
"What do you mean? We're flying!" said Elfo.
"Did these two retake Snakeroot?" said Koga.
"No…this isn't snakeroot…" said Bean. "Whatever it is, I want some."
Elfo and Luci were on the streets of Dreamland. Their eyes gleamed, and they were rolling around with their eyes spread out. "B-Bean…I'm flying! I'm flying!" He began laughing hysterically.
"My wings! I love my wings!" Luci cried.
"MY WIIINGS…."
…
Koga had carried Elfo and Luci back to the castle. He walks up to Bean's room, and tosses the two of them on the ground. "This is beginning to become a real bad habit…"
"Thanks, Koga," said Bean.
"Yeah yeah," He replied, annoyed. "Oh, by the way…I don't have to get haircut for it do I?"
"No no, of course not!" She replied, shaking her head no.
"Alright…then I'm down," said Koga as he walked off
Bean formed a big grin on her face and started giggling to herself. Bean sat on the bed, waiting for Elfo and Luci to wake up. It was an hour before Elfo and Luci came. Elfo was rubbing his head and repeatedly sneezing. "UGH! Oh my god…what happened?"
"You guys with the enchanted forest to get high off fairy dust," said Bean.
"It was freaking awesome," said Luci. "Waaay better than Snakeroot!"
"Ow, my head…" said Elfo. He then began sneezing. "UGH! That was horrible! I feel terrible!"
"I still can't believe you can get high off fairy dust, and you guys didn't invite me!" said Bean, crossing her arms at them.
"Well, you were so busy trying to kiss it up with Koga that Elfo and I decided to have fun ourselves," said Luci.
Bean blushed and glared at Luci. "I wasn't trying to kiss it up with anyone! I was talking to him about the party. And he said yes to going, by the way."
"Just make sure you two aren't going to do anything wild on the dance floor, ok?" Luci teased.
Bean's face was turning red as Luci teased her. "You know what…I'm going to the bar!" She said as she hopped off her bed and stormed out of the room. "If you dorks wanna come, better hurry up!"
Elfo let out a sigh. "Well, that was a complete waste of time…"
"What do you mean? It was fun!" said Luci. "And don't you feel a little more laid back now that you snorted fairy dust into your nose?"
"No, I feel like I'm going to sneeze out my lung!" said Elfo. A little fairy dust came from his nose as he began sneezing more.
"Oh well, I had a lot of fun! Come on, Elfo, let's go get drunk," said Luci as he and Elfo left Bean's room and walked down the halls.
"Soo…you want wings, huh?" asked Elfo.
"What?" said Luci.
"When we were high out of our minds, I did see the wings on your back."
"Oh yeah, we did share the same high, didn't we? Well, I can get wings, but…"
"Wait, you can? Then how come you don't have them?" asked Elfo.
Luci groaned. "It's because I'm a sub-demon. Sub-demons don't have wings. I'd have to upgrade to demon level four,"
"How do you upgrade to demon level four,"
Luci side glares at Elfo, getting annoyed by all of the questions. "Well, you have to go on long preciouls journey. A Journey where you have to pet a unicorn, and each that you do, you get bigger wings!"
"Wow, really?" said Elfo, his green gullible self.
"Heck yeah, man,"
"I always thought demons ate unicorns," said Elfo.
"Nah, we just eat children with cabbage on the side,"
"Oh…wow…ok…"
"Wanna know what they taste like?" asked Luci.
"Yeah…no…"
