Kiera Levin

The Tennants were able to make a stop in New York City.

For a nice change of pace, they ended up booking into a fancy hotel and were currently in the lobby to get a room.

"This hotel has everything!" Ash said excitedly as she looked at a leaflet. "An indoor pool, a mall, a full day spa -"

"Remember, Ash, this is just for one night, so don't get too excited." Grant gently reminded her.

Dan looked around and spotted a Sumo Slammer themed kiosk for the new game coming soon nearby. He never really got into that franchise, thinking it was a bit too cartoonish for his liking, which was a shame as he was obsessed with all things Japanese. He much preferred the likes of Danger Quest, as that was more interesting with its lore, creatures and characters.

Grant was able to get keycards for their room and so they all headed to the elevator.

They exited on the tenth floor and entered room 10D, which was pretty luxurious for a four star hotel. There were three beds, a large widescreen TV with a DVD player, a whole bathroom and an outdoor balcony.

"Wow, this place sure knows how to please its guests." Dan said as he sat on the bed closest to him, bouncing slightly

"And all this space…." Ash said with relief, spinning on the spot. "I call dibs on the shower!" She then dashed through her bag and grabbed shampoo, a brush and a couple of towels before heading right into the bathroom.

"Why don't we take some time to chill and relax?" Grant suggested as he looked through the counter and grabbed candies, drinks and a bag of nachos.

As soon as Ash finished having her shower, all three took this chance to relax and munch on candies and have drinks with water and apple juice.

"If you don't mind, I'd like to explore New York. It's not everyday a West Coast kid travels to the East Coast, especially to the City That Never Sleeps." Dan said before he took the last nacho in one bite.

"Sure, but take Ash with you. This city can be rough to those that weren't born in it." Grant replied.

And so, after their break, and after Ash changed back into her clothes, they left the hotel and started exploring the city.

They made sure to visit Time Square, stand at the foot of the Empire State Building and see the Statue of Liberty before Dan decided to have some fun and go to an arcade called Total Zone, glad to have change from his allowance to play some games.

Inside, there were many kids playing many different arcade machines.

The two split up and Dan ended up playing a baseball game, but when the digital pitcher threw the ball and Dan was about to swing, the words 'GAME OVER' flashed on the screen.

"Are you kidding me?" Dan snapped angrily. "It just started!" He then looked at an employee who was walking by. "This thing ate my tokens up!"

"Read the sign, buddy." The employee said. "It says play at your own risk." He then walked off.

"This place is nothing but a ripoff!" Dan shouted after him.

"You're right." A voice chimed in from behind him.

He turned to see a girl his age, barely taller than him. She had short and spiky black hair, brown eyes and wore a grungy black vest over a black sports tank top, revealing her thick arms, and black jeans. For some reason, she looked familiar, yet he couldn't understand why.

"The games here are rigged to eat up tokens, therefore, they stink." She further explained.

"Though not as bad as his breath. Talk about sewer mouth." Dan remarked, waving his hand in front of his mouth, which made her laugh.

"That was funny." She grinned. "Here, you owe me one."

She placed her hand on the machine next to her and electricity shot from her hand and into the machine, causing it to spew out a mountain of arcade tokens.

"Whoa." Dan said, very intrigued as Ash showed up behind him, looking at the girl with intrigue. "How'd you do that?"

"I have some tricks up my sleeve." The girl shrugged.

Dan knelt down and grabbed as many tokens as he could.

"Uh, Dan, are you sure you should be taking those? They aren't technically ours." Ash said cautiously.

"Think of all the kids who got ripped off from this arcade, Ash." Dan pointed out as he stood with a handful of tokens.

"Thanks." Dan said to the girl. "My name's Dan."

"I'm Kiera." The girl replied, glancing over to Ash with some interest.

"Want to go play some air hockey?" Dan asked.

Kiera looked past him, seeing a couple of thuggish teens that stared her down.

"Uh… I gotta go." She replied before walking off.

"What's her deal?" Ash asked.

"I don't know." Dan replied before the thuggish teens shoved past them after Kiera, which they knew wasn't good.

Kiera kept walking until a half-bald teen stepped in front of her with some tough looking cronies.

"Long time no see." The half-bald teen said. "Where are you going, freak? Home to recharge your batteries?"

The two that followed after Kiera held her by the arms to keep her from running away.

Both Dan and Ash peeked to see what was going on and the former frowned.

"Time to give those punks a lesson about bullying." Dan spat in contempt before he hid back behind the arcade machine and turned into Velociraptor.

His skin turned blue and grew his helmet as his eyes. He grew his tail and his feet turned into black orbs along with his fingers turning into claws.

"How's your little hangout? Still trashed, as I left it?" Kiera asked the thugs.

"Yeah." A bald teen with goggles said. "And you're gonna pay. You can't take us all alone, freak."

"I can, moron." Dan spoke out, attracting everyone's attention.

"Ha, ha, ha, little early for Halloween, dude, isn't it?" The half-bald teen said, sounding nervous.

"This isn't a costume, punk." Dan replied.

He then sped right up to the bald teen and formed a tornado to lift him up in the air, making him scream in panic before Dan stopped, making the teen fall and then smacking him really hard with his tail, launching him into a random arcade machine.

"Whoa." Kiera said, very impressed.

Dan then sped off from sight.

"Where'd he go?" The half-bald teen said before he disappeared, thanks to Dan, Then one of the teens that held Kiera disappeared.

They then showed up with the bald teen, knocked out as well.

The remaining teen was backing off, wanting to get out of there before he's dealt with, but Dan appeared right behind him, his visor moving to reveal his face.

"Trick or treat, loser." Dan remarked, making him scream and run away.

"See ya." Dan then said to Kiera with a wave before zooming off. Kiera smiled appreciatively at Dan's actions.

"Are you sure it was a good idea to go alien on them?" Ash asked Dan later on when they're outside of the arcade, Dan back to his human form.

"They're street punks, they would've done all kinds of bad things other than bullying Kiera. They needed to be taken down a few pegs." Dan replied.

Kiera then appeared, exiting the arcade.

"Hey, did you see what that speedster did to those losers?" She asked Dan.

"Yeah, his name's Velociraptor. I happen to know him." Dan replied.

"Sick, you actually know one of the aliens that have been helping people all over the country." Kiera said in amazement. "Hey, I was wondering, would you like to have a tour of the city?"

"Our grandpa is waiting for us at a hotel." Ashley said for her and Dan, but he felt like he had to be with Kiera for some reason.

"Actually, you go back to the hotel, Ash, I'll spend some more time with Kiera."

"But grandpa -"

"Don't worry, I know how to take care of myself. Besides, I won't be alone. I'll be fine." Dan reassured her, leaving her to sigh.

"Alright, if you say so." Ash said before she turned and headed back to the hotel.

Both Dan and Kiera were walking through the streets, the latter giving the former a surprisingly extensive tour of the city.

"I was wondering, how did you get your powers?" Dan asked.

"I was actually born with them. I inherited them from my dad. Not only am I like an energy sponge with electronics, but I can also form a shell by absorbing various materials like rock, metal, wood, plastic, you name it." Kiera explained.

"Nice." Dan said, thinking about how handy such powers can be.

"Come on, now that I've given you a tour, I'd like to show you where I live." Kiera then said, which made Dan curious.

Meanwhile, Ash made it back to the hotel and entered the room they were staying in.

"Hey, where's Dan?" Grant asked worriedly as he was watching TV.

"Um…. He's just made a new friend…." Ash replied before starting to explain what happened.

Dan and Kiera entered an abandoned subway station, where the former was surprised to find a sofa, a mattress with a few pillows and blankets, some clothes, a TV with a games console and an ATM machine.

"You actually live here?" Dan asked for confirmation.

"Yeah, all by myself since I moved to New York a few years ago." Kiera replied as she and Dan sat on the sofa.

"But what about your family?" Dan asked, perplexed as to why she was on her own.

"Unfortunately, my dad died when I was little. Afterwards, my mom decided to start dating people. It felt so much like a betrayal to dad that I couldn't take it and so I ran away and have been on the road ever since. I was just nine years old." Kiera said with sadness in her face and voice.

"I'm sorry. I thought my dad didn't want to be with me and my mom for the longest time. But I met him a week ago. It turned out he did, he just had to leave for our safety. Not that he's the questionable sort, if you know what I mean." Dan said.

"Yeah. There are times I miss Bellwood… and my mom." Kiera replied, making Dan's eyes widen.

"You're from Bellwood?" Dan asked. "I'm from Bellwood myself!" He then remembered missing posters when he was nine years old. That was why she seemed familiar. "You're Kiera Levin. Your mom has been looking for you ever since you ran away!"

"Really?" Kiera asked, sounding bitter.

"Yeah." Dan nodded. "I even met her. She always seemed so sad, all on her own."

"What?"

"Yeah, she told me that after you ran away, she stopped dating, feeling like it was her fault that you left her." Dan explained.

Kiera now looked incredibly guilty and sad, seeing that she made her mother fall into a depression.

Dan wanted to move on from the depressing subject matter, seeing that the mood had soured somewhat.

"So why did that gang go after you?" He asked.

"They kept messing with me, so I decided to trash their hangout under the 39th Street bridge." Kiera replied. "By the way, how come you're in New York?"

"Me, Ash and our grandpa are on a road trip throughout the country for the summer." Dan explained. "Had some insane things happen from the start."

"Yeah? Like what?"

"Well, we dealt with mutant animals from a mad scientist, helped save a cryptid's eggs from animal traffickers, dealt with some bounty hunters, and that's just the tip of the iceberg."

"And if I remember correctly, a lot of those incidents involved all of those hero aliens that saved people." Kiera pointed out.

"Yeah, that's how I befriended Velociraptor. He saved my life." Dan said, not wanting to reveal that he was actually Velociraptor.

"Nice." Kiera grinned. "Say, I'm getting hungry. Why don't we go and get something to eat?"

"Sure." Dan shrugged as Kiera grabbed a box by her feet and pulled out some cash.

They made their way to a nearby grocery store and started looking through the aisles.

"I hope you're not into exotic cuisine. I already have to deal with that with my grandpa." Dan shuddered.

"Oh, don't worry, I like regular foods. Fries, burgers, fried chicken, etc." Kiera said, which relieved Dan.

They were in the back of the store, picking up some nachos when they heard laser fire at the front of the store among screaming.

"Listen up! As long as you cooperate and let us take your belongings and money, you'll walk away from this unharmed!" A male voice shouted.

The two crept and peered down the aisle to see at least four men with bandit hats on with laser guns in their hands, pointing them at the people that were only shopping.

"Crap, we have to do something." Dan said quietly.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. I can be able to have a shell of whatever material. What can you do against four armed men?" Kiera questioned his sanity.

Dan smirked as he decided he'll just have to reveal his secret.

He activated the Omnitrix, which baffled Kiera, who then looked shocked when Dan ended up transforming into Diamondhead.

"What was that?" One of the criminals said, as they heard and saw the flash of light from Dan's transformation.

"I'll tell you later." Dan told Kiera, who got out of her shock and formed a rock shell from absorbing the floor.

The two then charged out. Dan grabbed Kiera and threw her right at one of the criminals, knocking him out right away, though he made a stray shot that nearly hit one of the hostages.

Dan sprinted as fast as he could and fired a few crystals at the guns at two of the other crooks, knocking them out of their hands, allowing Kiera to charge at them and take them down.

Dan then spotted the remaining criminal, who was about to grab one of the hostages, but Dan slammed his fist into the ground, forming a crystal shield between them, blocking the criminal before Dan grabbed his gun and smashed it as he glared down at the criminal.

"It's not nice holding hostages, you know." He shook his head.

Kiera then stepped up behind the criminal, tapped him on the shoulder and then punched him right in the face, taking him down instantly.

All the hostages looked at them both with relief and gratefulness, saying their thanks for saving their lives.

They then found a way to tie them up and told the hostages to call the police before they left.

They ran all the way to Kiera's hideout, during which, the Omnitrix timed out and Dan turned back to normal.

"So… you can turn into the one called Diamondhead?" Kiera instantly asked after she got rid of her rock shell and when they made it to her hideout.

"Yeah. And not just him. This device is called the Omnitrix and it houses DNA of various aliens. I can turn into ten of them." Dan explained.

"Then you can turn into Velociraptor?" Kiera asked.

"Yep."

"That's so awesome! Turn into another one right now!"

"I can't. I can only stay in a certain form for a period of time until it times out and has to recharge." Dan explained, showing that the Omnitrix was now red instead of blue.

"Well, why don't you hand it to me and I can figure out how to get rid of the timeout?" Kiera asked, a hungry look now in her eyes.

"I can't. This thing is stuck to my wrist. Literally." Dan shook his head. He then noticed a change with Kiera. She was silent and had a thoughtful look.

"Kiera, are you alright?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I was just thinking…" She said with a growing smile. "...imagine what you could do with all that power in your watch!"

Dan looked at her with an uneasy expression as he asked "What do you mean?"

"C'mon! You never thought about using your aliens to get back at bullies? Make some money? There are endless possibilities!"

Hearing her talk this way made Dan back away from her a bit.

"That isn't a good idea. The Omnitrix isn't some toy. It's supposed to be the most powerful object in the whole galaxy. If it got into the wrong hands… many innocent people would get hurt if not worse…."

"Come on, Dan! You've got all that power! Nobody would mess with you anymore!"

This made Dan look down at the Omnitrix.

"I have a responsibility to use it for good. I can't use it for selfish gain! Besides, I'm still figuring out how it works!"

"I can use my powers to figure it out." Kiera said, approaching Dan, who backed up against the wall, frowning at her.

"That isn't a good idea, Kiera…." He warned her.

She now started getting frustrated as she said "C'mon! Just lemme take a look!"

"No." Dan said firmly, making Kiera's face contorted with anger.

"Just let me see it!" She growled.

"I said no!" Dan exclaimed.

Now in a blind rage, Kiera lunged at Dan and tried to pry the Omnitrix from his wrist.

Dan pulled his right arm to the side and hit Kiera on her back with his free hand and then kneed her stomach, making her lose her grip on the Omnitrix. Dan then pushed her away and punched her in the face, knocking her back onto her back.

"You need to be put down!" Dan said, seeing that the Omnitrix had finally recharged and felt like he could face her with any of his aliens, well, excluding Brainiac.

So he simply slammed the dial down and turned into Magmus.

"You think you can scare me, hothead?" Kiera said as she stood back up, forming a metal shell by absorbing a metal pipe.

"No, but I will burn you up if you keep this up!" Dan warned her, igniting his hand.

Kiera ignored his warning and charged at him.

Dan flipped over her and kicked her in the back, making her smack into the wall, but she soon turned round and punched Dan in the chest and he was thrown back, crashing through the TV and ATM machine.

"Please stop this, Kiera! You don't have to do this!" Dan shouted, hoping that she would listen to reason.

"Maybe not! But I want to!" Kiera snapped back as she got back up on her feet and swung a fist at Dan, who deflected it, but she then made a kick that shoved Dan back and then she flipped over him and grabbed him from behind.

"GET OFF ME!" Dan snarled as he tried to grab her, flailing around.

Kiera's hand then grazed the symbol on his chest and she decided to try and absorb its energy, causing energy to travel up her arm, which caused her to scream before she was launched all the way through a gap, landing behind a railing that Dan couldn't see through as it boarded up.

Dan now grew worried that she got hurt, but before he could walk up and see if she was okay, a fireball blasted him against the wall.

Dan looked to see that Kiera had absorbed Magmus' DNA and now her right arm, chest and head were like Magmus', the rest still looking human.

"Thank you, Danny boy, for this extra boost of power." Kiera said, chuckling maniacally.

"Kiera, please! You're going too far!" Dan begged.

"Am I? I can finally get back at anyone who calls me a freak!" Kiera snapped back, forming a fireball and threw it at Dan, who caught it and then threw it back at Kiera, who was launched back again.

He knew that she was going to get back at that gang and he's gonna need help to stop her.

So he then formed a vortex of fire and then used it to transport himself out of her hideout.

Kiera got back up to see that Dan was gone.

"Wimp. Now to get some revenge." She snarled.

Dan was able to get out onto the street and soon turned back to normal when the Omnitrix timed out.

Dan sprinted through the city back to the hotel.

"Dan, what happened?" Ash asked, looking worried upon seeing the tense and frantic look on his face.

"It's Kiera… she's become power hungry…." He said, starting to explain what had just happened and about Kiera's family.

"Dan, I've never told you this, but I knew Kiera's father." Grant revealed after Dan finished his explanation.

"You did?" Dan asked, surprised to hear this.

"Yes. His name was Devin. He and I worked together before I retired. He was my best friend. Devin was a good man, talked at length about how proud he was to be a father and that he wanted his child to do great things. And to hear what his daughter's doing, I'm worried."

"Being on her own and being bullied must've caused her to change for the worse." Ash said. "And if she absorbed Magmus' powers, she's now even more dangerous."

"Which is why we have to stop her. And I think I know where she'll be." Dan said gravely.

Under the 39th Street bridge, Kiera started throwing fire everywhere, making the gang that bullied her back away in fear.

"Ah, Kiera, we can work this out." The bald teen said.

"No, we won't." Kiera said menacingly as she approached them, brandishing her fiery arm.

Dan, Grant and were in the Star Angel, heading for the 39th Street bridge, but they were in the middle of New York traffic.

"I hate New York traffic!" Grant ranted as he honked the horn.

"We have little time." Dan said as he saw that the Omnitrix had finally recharged. "I'll go ahead and try to stop Kiera."

He turned the dial on Four Arms and slammed the dial, turning into said alien.

He then exited the RV and leapt on top of a double decker bus and a truck and other vehicles to get to his destination.

Back at the 39th Street bridge, the gang were all now pinned under a large pipe.

"So much for your little gang." Kiera remarked victoriously.

But then she turned back to normal as her fire extinguished at the rock detached from her skin.

"What the -?"

She was cut off when she heard something land behind her, turning to see Dan as Four Arms.

"You've run out on Magmus' powers, Kiera." Dan coolly told her.

"Then you'll just have to give me the powers of this form, Dan." Kiera said.

"You can forget it." Dan refused.

"Well, you don't have a choice." Kiera spat before lighting up her hands with energy and walked right up to the gang. "I still have enough juice to fry these losers, anyway."

Dan had to stop her from harming, if not killing them. So he had to grab her with his arms and lifted her up, making her shoot up at the bridge itself.

However, this allowed her to absorb Dan's arms, causing her skin to turn red and grow in size. She laughed maniacally as she grew a third arm, which was large and bulky, that she used to punch Dan in the face, making let go of her and back up.

She landed on her knees and looked up at Dan as her left eye morphed into two yellow ones and grew two more arms.

Kiera then ran up to him and punched him with a second large and bulky arm that just grew out, which he blocked, though he skidded back as he dug into the ground.

"Oh, this is gonna be fun." Kiera chuckled as she cracked her fists.

"If this is your idea of fun, you really need counselling." Dan remarked before they locked fists.

"I'm gonna take all of your alien powers!" Kiera said right before she was slammed up against a wall. But then she was able to grab him and threw him against the wall.

He got back up quickly and kicked her in the chest, but his leg was grabbed and she threw him at another part of the wall.

At this point, the Star Angel arrived and parked. Grant and Ash exited as Dan backed up and threw Kiera back with his two lower arms and then ran up to her.

Grant and Ash made their way down under the bridge and lifted the pipe up so that the gang could get up.

"I suggest you lot to leave." Grant told them and they didn't argue as they ran for it.

Kiera grabbed and wound up Dan until she threw him into a wall again and then pounced on him.

Dan was busy holding her fists back when the Omnitrix now started beeping and flashing.

"DAMMIT!" Dan roared.

Knowing he had little time left, Dan used all his willpower to kick Kiera off him then bolted right to her and punched her repeatedly in the face so hard that she started bleeding and was launched back into a column of the bridge, which fell down around her.

Dan took deep breaths as he turned back to his human form.

He walked up to Kiera as she groaned, turning back to normal, a cut on her cheek still present from when Dan punched her.

She looked up to him and asked "Now what? You gonna turn me in?"

"I don't know. You seem like a good person, yet you craved power." Dan said.

"I just… I just don't want to be seen as some freak. I wanted nothing more than to prove people wrong." Kiera explained.

"Which you did." Dan pointed out. "Back at the store, all those people looked at you as a hero. You did help save them, after all. And I saw a lot of myself in you. You're clearly not a bad person. You've just… gone through so much."

"What do you know?" Kiera mumbled as she looked away, her eyes welling up.

"I know that your dad used to work with my grandpa." Dan revealed, shocking Kiera, who looked over at Grant, who nodded to confirm his grandson. "They were partners. Grandpa said your dad, Devin, was his best friend and was a good man. Don't you want to make him proud? Don't you want to use your powers for good, to have people look at you as a hero? You can join us and do just that."

Kiera looked up at Dan, her lips quivering as Dan held his hand out.

"You just need a second chance. What do you say?" He asked her.

That was the breaking point for her and she finally broke down, crying her eyes out in a sad sob.

Dan, now full of sorrow for her, knelt down and hugged her, which she leaned into. Dan looked over at Grant and Ash, who walked up to them.

"Kiera, I'm sorry about what happened to you, I really am. In fact, your dad told me that if anything happened to him, that I would help take care of you." Grant told Kiera, who looked up to him, tears trickling down her face. "And Dan's right, you need a second chance. And we can help you learn to use your powers for good."

"Plus, it wouldn't hurt to have another girl on the trip." Ash pointed out.

After a few more minutes of crying, Kiera looked at all three Tennants and made a decision.

"You're right. I was so concerned about myself that I never considered thinking about others. And dad would've hated what I've done with my life. I want to make up for that." She said, which made all three Tennants smile.

They now have a new member of the team, one they'll make sure to treat as family.

There you go, a genderbent Kevin that actually takes up the offer to do good.

Like I said, this is a far offshoot in the Omniverse, so there's differences.

And for reference for Kiera's voice, imagine Hailee Steinfeld.

Also, the dialogue between Kiera and Dan after saving those people and when Dan offers her a second chance is to be credited to B.E.A.T.N., I just tweaked it a bit.
