Chapter two: Meeting a Maiden
"The power you wield is strong. its potential, infinite. But remember stranger, that you are mortal."-?
After a plentiful rest in my rented inn room, I supplied myself with breakfast and made my way to the guild, ready for a day of questing. Once I had entered the guild however, the guild receptionist called me over. "Hey 'radiant prince' Zed! got a special quest for ya!"
'Excuse me?'
Despite my confusion at her words (and strangely joyous tone), I found myself walking towards her location. Once I had gotten close enough, I questioned her on her choice of words and on her strangely happy mood. And got an unexpected answer, it seems the child I saved yesterday was her ('maya', if her name tag was to be believed) sister, who had run away and went missing a few days before my arrival.
'That explains her mood, I just thought she was tired'
She explained that the nickname she called me by was originally from her sister ('Saya' she called her), who I guessed must have got it from a combination of my attempt at an overly polite demeanour and the design of my blades. A guess that proved true when I prompted maya for an explanation. Once that whole deal was dealt with, Maya proceeded to pull up a quest form and laid it on the counter in front of us, she explained that the guild had gotten a request specifically calling for my aid.
It was from the old man running the apothecary, he wanted me to check up on his granddaughter who lived in Planeptune. According to himself the natural theme of Leanbox was so ingrained within the hearts and minds of its people that few had access to phones and other such technology. leading to a lack of communication between family members who lived on different landmasses. Thanks to his old age he could not visit her and after hearing of my deed of rescuing young Saya, he got the idea of requesting me to go visit her in his stead.
The request came with a description of said granddaughter: long peach-coloured hair and similarly coloured eyes. 'Not much to go off of...' Deciding to accept the old man's request, I politely took the piece of paper from Maya's hand, said goodbye and went to go give the old man a visit.
When I arrived, the old man was outside his home, as if he were expecting me, he had a smile on his wrinkled face and his eyes were lit up in mirth. "Greetings, old man, for both our sakes I shall get straight to the point, why did you send me that request?" If possible, his already wide smile, widened further. "it's as I wrote on the request, boy. This body of mine is too weak and too old to visit my granddaughter without issue and my lack of any communication device prevents me from contacting her, you seemed like a perfectly good and capable young man, so I sent that request." "While I appreciate that you think good of me, to trust me with something like this seems a little odd."
"Boy, you do not live for as long as I do in this kind of world without gaining the ability to read people like books, you're a good kid, I know I can trust you. by the way don't call me old man, the name is Ban." 'It seems I underestimated him, how interesting...' "Very well, Ban I shall complete your request"
"Very good boy, here take this letter and give it to my granddaughter when you meet her, it should explain the situation." "if I may be a bit nosey, why are you and your granddaughter an entire landmass apart?" "Compa, that's her name, wanted to become a nurse, she loves to help people Ya see, but there are no advanced medical schools in Leanbox. to get the education she wanted, she had to move to Planeptune."
"She seems like a wonderful young lady" "That she is boy, but don't be getting any ideas, she may be in her mid-teens, but she's too young to be romancing boys." The aura Ban produced was something I'd never expect from such a nice old man, it was almost suffocating "I-I w-won't" "Good, now then, Planeptune should be in boarding range within the next hour, best make Yer way to the Basilicom."
"Do you happen to have a compass I can borrow?"
"Aye, here Ya go boy."
"Thank you, goodbye."
Before I left Ban's home however, he grabbed my wrist and placed a note in my open hand "I've written the address of her home on that paper. good luck, boy." I nodded my head before leaving, this time without interruption. Using the compass he gave me, I chose a direction, in this case south, then ran with all my might, if I was quick enough, I could reach Planeptune and get this request done as quick as possible.
/
Fortunately, I had managed to reach the Basilicom in time, in no small part due to my discovery of my ability to form a wing out of the same orange-gold energy my swords were made of. The wing boosted my speed, gave me the ability to fly and looked cool in my ever-humble opinion. While I would normally question how exactly me creating a wing was possible, I didn't exactly have the time to.
The southern Basilicom had a bridge that lowered when the landmass of Planeptune came close enough. Due to arriving just as the landmass was in range, I was able to witness the event in its entirety. It was impressive, the giant bridge and the entirely new landmass were beautiful. Once the bridge was lowered, I showed the Basilicom guard my adventurer card and was allowed passage.
Planeptune appeared to be incredibly technologically advanced, as the library book told me. There were even glass tubes high above that I saw people going through, though what exactly they were standing on was unknown. There seemed to be an overall white and purple colour scheme. the light colours adding a sense of calm to the area.
After finding a local and asking for directions, I arrived at a two-story house and promptly walked up to the front door and knocked, trusting that Ban's information was correct. "Coming!" a seemingly female voice rang out; it seemed his info might be credible. The occupant of the house opened the door, revealing themself to be indeed female and matching Ban's description. Once her gaze landed on me, her admittedly attractive face morphed into one of confusion. Obviously confused on why a stranger was knocking on her door.
"Hello, miss, my name is Zed, do you happen to be related to an old man called Ban?" I asked the young lady, deciding to get straight to the point. Her face changed again, this time from a face of confusion to one of happiness "Yes, he's my grandfather, why do you ask?" I sighed inwardly in relief; it seems I had gotten the right person "He sent me to check up on you, his old age and lack of technology prevented him from visiting in person."
She then pouted
"i told him to get a phone!" I inwardly laughed at her response "Regardless, you seem in good health." She nodded "Would you mind if we continued this conversation inside?" She nodded... again. Then we both went inside, walking until we reached what I assumed was the living room and sat down on some chairs.
"So, Zeddy, how do you know my grandfather?" she asked cutely. Ignoring the childish nickname, I told her how I met Ban "He sent a request to the guild for some herbs, I just so happened to undertake said quest. when I met with him to deliver the herbs, we had a chat, mostly about me being in the village as I had only recently been staying there recently. We seemed to hit it off quite well. At least well enough for him to deem me trustworthy enough to visit you in his stead." I explained
She smiled at my explanation "My grandfather was always great at reading people; you must be someone really special!" she replied in a joyous tone I smiled at her response, she was incredibly adorable "Maybe, I wouldn't know." Her face looked confused at my statement "What do you mean by that?" she asked curiously. Seeing no harm in telling her, I decided to inform her of my lack of memories. As I talked, I could see her previously happy demeanour change into a one more sombre.
"that's terrible Mr Zeddy, from the sounds of it you have amnesia!" Something about her sad face looking at me in pity made my insides twist in disgust.
'I need no pity'
"there's no need to feel sad in my stead, miss. I've made nothing but pleasant memories since I woke up with my condition." I explained, deciding to pat the young lady's head in an attempt to comfort her as well as get rid of that damned look of pity.
"If you say so..." she replied, her face slowly changing from the saddened look it previously held to a more neutral one. Apparently not minding my action, or maybe just not caring.
'i feel like there's something I forgot to ask...wait!' "By the way miss, what's your name?
"My name is Compa!" she replied in a cheery tone, her once saddened look quickly forgotten. "So then, Compa, tell me about yourself, you know so much about me, yet I know so little about you." I say teasingly. "W-well, I'm currently training to be a nurse and I'm good at maths." she replied in a Shakey voice, clearly affected by my teasing. After taking a moment to compose herself, she continued.
"However, the nursing school as well as all other educational facilities have been closed temporarily due to the monster outbreak."
'Monster...outbreak?'
"What monster outbreak?" I asked the statement elicited a confused look from Compa, it seems this 'monster outbreak' was common knowledge "Eh? haven't you noticed the surge in monster sightings? it's been happening for the past few weeks!" I tilted my head in confusion. "...no...?" She shook her head before continuing her explanation.
"because of the increase in monster sightings, all schools have shut down temporarily, as most of them are located outside of villages and would require people to travel. it's also the reason why the guild has been easily letting civilians become adventurers. Since adventurers fight monsters, they're in high demand at the moment." she explained. as if it were common knowledge, and to be fair it probably was.
"So, the increase in monsters makes it too dangerous for most to travel to school?" "yep" she confirmed, with a smile on her face. "Are you an adventurer Compa? I asked, curiously. She smiled again before answering "Not yet, but I was going to go sign up before you arrived." 'well, isn't that convenient.' "How about I come with you? I haven't been an adventurer for very long, but I'm no slouch in a fight." "Sure!" she responded.
And so, we went to the guild. Compa got herself signed up and I reported Bans request to the guild receptionist (Miu, her nametag read). one of the few pieces of technology Leanbox actually had was communication devices for the guilds to keep in touch with each other, so by notifying one of the guilds in Planeptune of my completion of Ban's request, they could then contact the guild in Leanbox about said completion of the request and notify Ban. then I would receive my payment.
Said payment was a thousand credits, which I literally couldn't hold, my pockets weren't that deep. Luckily the guilds in Planeptune provided the futuristic equivalent of a wallet (for a small fee, of course) which I quickly placed all my funds into.
Once she was registered, Compa picked out a quest, it was a Doggo extermination request, apparently an area called Virtua Forest was overrun with the creatures. The journey there was uneventful, Compa and I merely walked from point A to point B. When we arrived, the area was just as I thought it would be... a forest with an overabundance of Dogoo's mindlessly bouncing about.
"Well, Compa, shall we dance?"
"EH? DANCE? b-but there's monsters over there."
"i mean fight the monsters... you don't get out much, do you?"
"Don't be a meanie!"
I laughed at that; it seems she could be a little childish. "As you say my dear~" I retort teasingly. Before I summoned one of my blades. When the blade had fully formed in my hand, all the monsters' gazes turned to me. it seems I was their primary target. 'Well, I suppose she deserves a demonstration' "Watch closely my dear, this is how an adventurer fights." With each swing of my blade, the horde of monsters thinned out more and more. within a minute they had all been slain, leaving nothing but credits behind.
"That was amazing Zeddy, you really showed those monsters who's boss!" Compa cheered, amazed by my performance "Was my performance really that impressive? I thought they were the weakest type of monster?" I questioned, according to the guild, Dogoo's were easy to kill, so much so that even a novice could handle them
"Dogoo's may be weak individually, but they're dangerous when in large groups, and you just killed like a hundred of them!" she explained. 'Interesting, it seems my blades are more noteworthy than I thought' "I'm sure you're exaggerating Compa, at most there were 50." My reply didn't seem to do anything to dissuade her.
Since the area was now Dogoo-free I decided to properly take in the sights, without all the monsters parading about, Virtua Forest was surprisingly beautiful. There were trees littered about with fields of lush grass, a place such as this was a strange sight on a technology-based landmass like Planeptune.
"Compa, since we have completed our quest, how about we do some sightseeing?" I asked. Her face instantly went red in embarrassment, did she misinterpret my words? "u-um, sorry Zeddy but I don't think we know each other well enough to go on a date." Her response was so unexpected that I couldn't help but laugh, which Compa saw as me taking rejection badly.
"E-EH? Zeddy are you okay?" she asked. "I'm fine Compa, and I that wasn't what I was referring to, I just wanted to do a bit of sightseeing before we headed back." She looked relieved at my explanation 'i don't know if I should feel insulted or commend her for her honesty'. so, we explored Virtua Forest... and fell down a hole
'Wait...WHAT'
While exploring, a sinkhole opened up below mine and Compa's feet, thinking fast I grabbed Compa by the waist and summoned my wing, using it to slow our decent until we reached the ground. Wherein I placed my companion on the ground feet-first and surveyed my surroundings. The hole we fell down was surprisingly clean-cut, as if someone had intentionally dug a massive hole and covered the top. Apart from the above light, there were crystal-like structures littered around us that seemed to emit their own light as well as what appeared to be an entrance to a cave. Said cave seemed to share the same light-emitting crystals as the hole we fell into.
After she seemed to regain her bearings, Compa decided to speak up "Zeddy, I think that's a new dungeon!" she said "Should we explore it then? I'm sure the data we could collect would be useful to the guild."
"YES!" she replied instantly. Hearing that doing it could help people in the future, Compa's eyes lit up in determination. 'we're heading into a barely lit cave, and she's excited?'
Despite not knowing what exactly a dungeon was, I felt as if the cave was meaningful in some way, as if an important part of something was concealed within it. Acting upon those strange feelings, Compa and I entered the cave. Its interior was lit up via crystals and was blueish black in colour. As we went further and further in, we encountered a variety of new monsters. Including a small creature with a halo and wings, blue ghost-looking creatures and even what looked like a short chubby man with glasses (of the three the last one was what concerned Compa the most "the other two were cute but that one looks creepy"-she said).
As we went deeper, the same feeling that enticed me to enter the cave got stronger. Up until Compa and I reached a giant stone door. The pull on my psyche indicated that what I was searching for was behind it. However, there was a reason I hesitated in opening the door in front of us, there was something dangerous on the other side, I could feel it.
"Compa, prepare yourself, whatever is behind this door is no pushover."
What happened next nearly traumatised me, Compa nodded her head in confirmation... and pulled out a giant syringe...let me repeat that
A
GIANT
SYRINGE
"What is that"
"Silly Zeddy, it's my weapon!" she cheered
'Excuse my language, but what exactly the fuck?'
"Why do you have a giant syringe? And where did you get it from?" I said in the most even tone I could muster
"Well, I am a nurse-
"What has that got to do with anything?"
-and as for where I got it from... well... that's a secret~" she giggled
'Note to self, don't upset Compa...ever'
Shaking off my newfound fear of upsetting my companion, I decided to ask the all-important question
"Are you ready, dear Compa?"
She nodded her head
And so, I placed my hands on the stone door and pushed. Despite being made of stone the door opened easily to my might and revealed to us what exactly laid within the rooms' walls. The beast was big, easily twice my height. And appeared as an amalgamation of man and spider, it wielded a giant sword and-by the look of its muscled physique-knew how to use it. "that's a Guard Vermin! It's a super strong monster!" Despite Compa's worried face, I smirked "If it's strong, good. fighting those other monsters was starting to get boring."
I summoned one of my blades into my right hand and pointed it at the beast as a sign of a challenge. "How about a sporting match?" Then I dashed forward, aiming to slice my foe.
*CLANG*
However, the beast blocked my frontal assault with its own larger blade. Thinking quick I summoned another blade to my vacant left hand and struck once more, the sound of my blade slicing into its exoskeleton being reminiscent of clashing steel. To my surprise my attack barely scratched it, a thin, shallow line was all my action had going for it. My act seemed to of pissed off my foe however, as it retaliated by swinging its own massive weapon at me and-to my surprise it swung fast causing me to only partially dodge its attack, leaving a cut on my left shoulder.
"Tch!"
Despite being shallow, the wound hurt, enough to distract me from my foe's next move, as one second, I was on the ground in front of my adversary, the next I was in its grasp, its humanoid upper half's strong grip halting any struggle I tried to make.
Before Compa could shout in concern however, I summoned two swords behind me and mentally commanded them to start slicing at the beast's fingertips. Despite barely harming it, the beast did loosen its grip to a minuet degree. presumably out of surprise. Its reaction gave me an idea. Thinking quickly, I ordered Compa to strike the monster, intending to split its attention enough to break free of its grasp.
Fortunately, my plan was successful as the monster focused on Compa. She stabbed the beast with the needle of her syringe (despite her attack doing even less than what mine had done), causing our foe to loosen its grip enough for me to pry its hand open and escape its clutches.
'The lower half is covered in a thick exoskeleton, but the upper half is human-like tissue...' Immediately after being freed, I launched myself off of the monsters 'arm, summoned and grabbed one of my blades and thrusted it into one of the monsters' eye, my blade piercing the soft tissue like a hot knife through butter.
Its screech was deafening
-before I summoned another blade and pierced its throat, turning its high-pitched screech into a low gurgle that stopped quickly after it had begun. To my astonishment the monster bled from its wounds, before the body stopped moving and disappeared into familiar binary code. Leaving credits and a strange looking item behind. The second the monster was gone; I felt a pair of arms wrap around me "We did it Zeddy! we defeated the big bad monster!" It seems Compa was ecstatic at our hard-fought victory. Not wanting to spoil her fun, I returned the hug with vigour, tightly wrapping my arms around her shoulders.
"Yes, we did, you did well Compa" I said, before exiting the hug and patting her head. Causing her to preen at the attention. Compa then picked up the Credits the Guard Vermin left behind while I inspected the other item it dropped.
The second my hand grazed the strange object's surface my vision went pitch black.
Inside Zed's mind
"Hello there. Stranger. You handled the Guard Vermin excellently." a mysterious voice said. Where was I? What was that voice?
"Who are you?" I questioned "I am Histoire, I know all the worlds' history, and am in essence the worlds' everything." the now named 'Histoire' answered.
Knows all history and is the worlds' everything? Who the hell was this person? "i can tell that you are sceptical, stranger, but I must politely ask you to please listen to what I have to say." I decided to nod my head in confirmation, despite not knowing if she (judging by the tone of voice) could see it.
"As I said, I am Histoire. I was sealed away by a servant of darkness and my link to the Goddesses was severed. My link to the world has also weakened but I can feel that after my sealing, darkness begun to spread." 'Compa did mention that there was an outbreak of monsters, and judging by how tough that Guard vermin was, what she says has some merit'
"Noble stranger, I ask that you find the three other key fragments spread across the other three Landmasses, and free me from my seal." 'i do not want to believe the words of some random voice I knew nothing of, but her words ring true... if it's for the good of the world, I have no choice'
"Very well Histoire, I accept your request."
"T...ha.n..k..y...o...u"
Then I awakened
/
I was in a bed instead of the cave, a very, very, very pink bed.
As I sat up to get off said bed, I noticed that my injury had been bandaged, the white material was wrapped very tightly around my shoulder, a bit too tightly if you ask me. 'No wonder my arm is numb'. As I attempted to loosen the bandages however, a hand grasped my own
"Zeddy, you're awake!"
When I looked at her face it showed relief, she must have been worried when I suddenly passed out after touching the key fragment. "Indeed I am Compa, apologies for worrying you." She smiled at my apology before her face went stern. "Do you have any idea Why you passed out?" I then explained myself, from what the mysterious object was, to my meeting with Histoire. Despite how crazy I might of sounded, she seemed to take what I said seriously.
"So, you're going to try and rescue miss Histoire?" she asked. "Yes, if unsealing her can help us discover why Monsters are rapidly increasing in number then I'll do my best to do so, I already have the key fragment for Planeptune, so it hopefully shouldn't be all too difficult to get the others."
She started to pout for some reason. "You don't have to do it by yourself." 'Does she...' "Would you like to come with me, Compa?" I asked. My question seemed to ironically be the right answer, as when I asked Compa's face lit up. "of course! we're a party after all!" 'a...party?' Ignoring the foreign term, I decided to discuss a plan of action, looking for any suggestions from my alleged 'party' member.
"If the other key fragment locations follow the one we found, we should look for strong monsters in dungeons spread across the three other landmasses. with any luck they should drop them like the Guard Vermin did when defeated. We could ask the guild and the Basilicom for any leads."
Compa nodded in agreement before speaking up. "That reminds me, Zeddy while you were sleeping, I reported our finds to the guild, now they can stop others from stumbling across big meanies like that Guard Vermin." I pat her head to praise her opportunistic thinking. 'Wait a minute...' "Where are we?" She giggled before replying. "we're in my house silly! I didn't want you cramping your muscles by making you sleep on my couch. So you slept in my bed." 'i suppose that explains all the pink' "Thank you Compa."
Although I was comfortable in her bed, I didn't want to become a burden, but even though I felt perfectly fine, she wouldn't let me leave. "You still need rest in order to properly recover!" She said. And so I spent the night at Compa's house.
"Zeddy wake up! There's a shooting star!"
…. until she interrupted my short-lived slumber. 'What happened to needing my rest?' So, I (begrudgingly) sat up and walked to the window my companion was looking out of. True to what she said there appeared to be a shooting star. It was surprisingly smaller than one would expect.
That gave me an idea
"Compa, we might be able to see it better at a closer range." She smiled at my suggestion "Well, something like this is rare, right? So why not.". with her agreeing to my idea, we left the confines of her home and towards where we saw the shooting star.
Until it acted strangely
Unlike normal shooting stars which grazed past the sky in a trail of colour, this one seemed to be heading for the ground. As it got closer and closer towards its destination, I was able to get a better look at what our 'shooting star' actually was. And to my surprise, instead of a rock or some random item,
It was a human.
A young-looking female human.
One that wouldn't survive a fall that huge.
And so, I tried to prevent it.
Running towards where she would land, I jumped and caught the falling girl in my arms, using my now summoned wing to slow our descent. Once we had reached the ground, she began to stir and as her eyes began to open, she spoke.
"Are you...an angel?"
I felt my heart clench at her innocent tone.
"Rest now, little one, I'll take care of you."
She smiled slightly at my words and seemed to fall asleep, judging by the slow rise and fall of her chest. "Compa, this one is in need of medical attention!" At my call, Compa appeared at my side and began inspecting the young girl I was holding. "she's wounded, there are cuts and bruises everywhere, the closest hospital is miles away, so for now I'll need to treat her at my house." Nodding at her words, we made our way back to her home, wherein I laid our patient on Compa's bed and left her to do her work, believing in her skill as a nurse.
In the meantime, I decided to go back to sleep, resting on the couch Compa had in her Livingroom downstairs.
So it is you who has inherited my power. Alone in a foreign world and without memories to guide you, what were those fools thinking.
When this is all over, I expect thanks
!
'What was that, who was that?'
That voice, its words. are they true?
'If its words are to be believed than that means something must have brought me here. But the question is why? Why me? Out of Billions of possible and more than likely better options, why me?'. 'And why was I brought here? Was it to solve the monster problem?' It was too convenient an option for my liking, but it was the only one I could think of.
My world view was shaken, my purpose in life, unknown
What did I leave behind? Who lost their son, their brother, their lover, because of some mysterious being's actions.
My body was shaking, out of anger and out of sadness.
But no matter how much I wanted to scream in anger, no matter how badly I wished to weep at my circumstances.
I knew I could do nothing to change it, crying and lashing out in anger would not help my predicament. To help myself calm down I decided to change my focus. 'That girl, I hope she's okay'. I was interrupted in my monologue by a shout, its tone suggesting a female speaker.
"Bandages...too...tight... gimme...scissors...must...continue to make...witty comments." The noise echoed from upstairs, and considering it sounded nothing like Compa, it must have been our patient. 'But why does she sound as if she's being suffocated?' Her shout had made me curious on her current state of wellbeing, so I decided to go upstairs and check up on her. And what I saw was quite befuddling.
She was awake and seemed to be doing okay (in the sense that she was alive.) judging by her lively tone. Except for the fact that she looked very uncomfortable, being completely covered in bandages and stretching her hands outwards as if to try and grab at something, which was probably something to cut her out of her current problem.
Compa was there as well, and seemed to be the reason the lady was in her current bind. "Hold still, I need to properly secure your wounds!" Her voice sounded serious, though she seemed to be unaware of her patients' current issue. Being the kind soul I was, I decided to step in before her patient died of suffocation. "Compa, while your dedication is admirable, I think our patient is acting like this because you tied the bandages too tightly, look her face is even starting to go blue."
True to my words, our patients' face started changing colours. Thinking quickly, I grabbed a pair of nearby scissors and started snipping at some of the bandages and stopped when I could hear regular breathing instead of needy gasps. "Thanks mister, for a second i was scared I was gonna get an early game over there." she stated. "it's no problem, how are you feeling?" "Well apart from nearly suffocating, I feel fine, though come to think of it, where am I?" "For that answer, I think it would be better to have Compa here explain." I pointed to Compa, who was looking at me as if I had destroyed all her hard work, which technically I did.
I then left the room, letting Compa answer her questions, seeing as it was her home that we were in. After a few minutes of waiting, Compa and our visitor came down to the living room. "Zeddy you're not going to believe this, but Nep-nep over here has amnesia just like you!" Then she went on to explain it in full. Neptune-the girl we found, lost her memories similarly to me, though the cause is unknown. Despite a lack of memory however she somehow remembers having a dislike for 'eggplants' (whatever those were) and has recently discovered a love of pudding, thanks to being handed the treat by Compa when she asked for food.
"Oooh what's that? Dibs!" It seems Neptune's interest was captured by the key fragment, which was left on the living room table. As soon as she picked it up, she started talking to herself. "what's that Histy? this is one of those key fragment thingies? yay key item obtained!" 'Histy? Is she talking about Histoire?...wait...is she talking to herself?' "Say, 'Zeddy' was it? Where did ya find this?" Neptune asked "Before I answer that, do you know anyone by the name 'Histoire'?".
"yessiree, she's a voice inside my head who told me to collect the four key fragments to free her from some prison-y thingy". Discounting her strange wording, it seems Histoire had enlisted Neptune's help in freeing her from her seal as well. Now knowing this I decided to inform Neptune of where exactly we had found the key fragment as well as the large monster that had dropped it.
"So, you're sayin' that a strong monster dropped this here key fragment after being stabbity stabbed a bunch?" Ignoring her yet again strange wording, I nodded my head. Then Neptune's eyes lit up, it seems she had an idea. "What if there are exceptionally strong monsters on each landmass and we need to beat them up to get the key fragments?" She had gotten to the same conclusion that I had, it seems.
"you might be right Neptune, though I don't think we should be so hasty as to leave Planeptune just yet." It was then that Compa decided to join in "Zeddy's right Nep-nep, the people here still need help!" Neptune nodded her head in agreement before responding. "Geez Compa, I'm not heartless, we'll help deal with this monster problem of yours first, then we'll go get the other fragments-"
'It seems she read Compa like a book'
"-besides I have no idea how to get to the other landmasses in the first place!" she finished with a smile
'Or not'
"Well regardless, I think it would be best to get you signed up at the guild, that way we can do quests to help the residents of Planeptune as well as build trust with them, people are more likely to give information to those they trust after all."
""Great plan Zeddy."" they both replied
And so, we made our way to the guild.

The fated have met, the page turns.
And the witch begins to move.
