Its been two days and I'm glad that I didn't overreact. I haven't received any new presents and I'm pretty sure that phone call was a wrong number. I was out with Lula looking for our newest FTA, a woman who smashed up her ex's house with his golf club. We had already brought in a couple of easy repeat offenders and had our early lunch… and a box of donuts.

We pulled up at her apartment building and I reminded Lula once again to let me do the talking. We had just reached the fourth floor when my phone rang. I answered and heard panting and then a voice whispered "We'll meet soon Steph." The call ended and we could hear a car alarm start wailing. As one we turned and booked it back down to the road.

Surprisingly the car was where we left it, no visible damage. I walked up and looked in to see the entire back seat was covered in photos of me. I cursed and angrily kicked the tire.

"Uh Steph?" Lula said looking over my shoulder. "Isn't that us at lunch? And at the office? And Oh My God is that blood?" I quickly looked where she was pointing and it appeared to be a photo of a bloody shirt but I didn't recognize it. I sighed as I pulled out my phone and reluctantly called Eddie.

"Hey Eddie, I need a favour. Any chance you can send someone to my location to dust for prints? I want to keep it quiet for now but I seem to have a new friend. They've left me some photos in my car and I'm hoping we can maybe identify them without getting me put on lockdown."

Eddie took a second. "I'll send someone but are you sure that's a good idea Steph? You tend to draw in the real crazies."

"I know Eddie, I promise I'll tell them if there's nothing here." We both knew exactly who Them was and I knew that Eddie would hold me to my promise.

I stood by the car until the crime scene car pulled up and Eddie and a woman climbed out. She gave a whistle when she peered in the window. "Oh this is tame compared to my usual." I told her. "At least this one left my car standing."

I watched as she dusted the handle and the inner door but apparently my stalker had worn gloves because there was no clear prints. Of course it could never be easy. I thanked her and then gathered the photos together. A quick flick through them showed shots of me from the last couple of days, a couple more of a male body parts but nothing identifiable and then a couple new shots of the same bloody shirt and a bloody knife. I took copies and gave Eddie the photos with blood and the male model and asked them to keep the personal shots quiet for now.

I dropped Lula off at the office and drove towards Rangeman. It looks like there's a victim out there and that officially made it serious enough to involve experts. I parked and waved at the camera as I entered the elevator and seconds later I moved through the 5th floor, nodding and waving at the familiar faces.

"Babe" I entered Ranger's office and saw the slight twitch of his lip in a grin. I felt the blush on my face and wondered why I had taken so long to get back to him before reminding myself that wasn't why I was there.

"So I need a favour." I told him and he leaned forward, raising an eyebrow. "I need you to promise not to go overboard."

Ranger was already around his desk and reaching for me. He held me still while his hands and eyes scanned my body for any visible injuries. "Whats happened? Are you in danger?" He questioned once he was convinced that I wasn't immediately in need of assistance.

I nibbled my lip nervously before just going for it. "I'm fine Ranger, honest. Someone has been calling me and just being creepy… and they left me pictures." I watched the anger flash on his face before his emotionless mask dropped down and he plucked my phone from my hands. He scrolled through the photos and I was thankful that I'd hidden the bloody photos and just left the close up male shots. He then pulled up my call list.

"You called Gazarra?" He questioned.

"I wanted to let the police know and I didn't want to worry Joe." I told him and he went back to his computer, pulling up some of his search engines.

"Number is for a burner phone and the photos aren't going to help with identification. Are these two calls and photos the only contact you've had with him?" Ranger questioned. I nodded, crossing my fingers. I mean technically not a lie, I just didn't give him all the photos right? He was already mad enough without knowing this guy was taking photos of me. "I'm going to set up a trace on your phone. We'll be able to hear your conversations, so if he calls back try to keep him on the line long enough for us to track him. I'm also going to put some men on you during the day, and nights you should stay here." Ranger said as he opened a drawer at his desk and pulled out the familiar necklace with a tracer and moved to put it on my neck.

"Ranger!" I interrupted him as I backed away. "You're not supposed to overreact! It's just some phone calls, he hasn't come near me yet and I'm not going to live my life in fear with an entourage of men in black. I'll agree to the phone trace, and the necklace but I don't need a bodyguard and I am staying in my apartment." I could see him getting ready to argue so I stepped forward and brushed a quick kiss on his lips. "I'll even carry my gun."

Ranger pulled me back in and swept me in for a deep kiss, that sent waves of desire through my body and my brain grew foggy. "You'll carry a LOADED gun and you'll spend an hour on the shooting range every other day so you'll be comfortable using it." He said firmly. I nodded, feeling dazed and he finished securing the necklace around my neck. Another kiss and he moved his lips down to my neck. "You sure you don't want to stay with me Babe? I can convince you."

I moaned and found my hands wound into his hair, holding him against my neck. "Ranger." I gasped, heat spreading through me. It would be so easy to let him lead me upstairs and spend my days safe and satisfied in his apartment until this threat was dealt with. But god knows there would be more threats down the road and I couldn't spend my whole life hiding from danger. I summoned the strength to extract myself from Rangers arms. "Uh uh. Nope. I'm going home." He stepped back and flashed a quick grin and I dazedly staggered back to my car.

Great, I had managed to give the police and Ranger enough to do some investigating but kept myself from being swarmed by overprotective males. Job well done.
