Chapter 58
→ Arwintar Nazarick-mansion / Arachama ←
In the early hours of her day, Arachama woke up and freed herself from the sleeping amount of daughters she had. Afterward, she relaxed outside in the cool air, covered by the thick forest and hedges around the mansion, and enjoyed a cup of tea. It was here when Enti sneaked in and into her lap. She rested her head on Entis and felt her oldest brimming with happiness. The stress of the coming day was already forgotten and she felt that she could take on the stacks of paper. Though a small bit of revenge was already prepared for Monga if he reached E-Rantel in a few days.
"Today I will take you with me, my little spider." she almost yawned and tightened her grip on Enti.
"I would love that, mom." Entis eyes, unbeknownst to the world, sparkled with joy.
"Then it is decided. Could you tell Yuri and prepare breakfast? I will slowly take care of my little family." she giggled as Enti jumped off her lap.
"Of course," Enti responded to her and sprinted off.
"Time to wake my children up." she mused as she walked back inside.
The entangled mess was still sleeping and sometimes movement was visible in the ball of arachne. She had to fight her inner self to simply go back and cuddle, but in the end, her grumbling stomach decided for her and she slowly, but steadily woke her children up. First was Arche, then Zesshi, and finally the twins, since the twins tended to be more rude in waking the others up.
After a group cuddling, where she had to wake Zesshi up again, the group chatted and moved towards the indoor garden or playground for the twins. As the twins played, Arche and Zesshi exchanged information about faith-magic and toxins. Arche knew a bit about toxins due to her past as a worker and Zesshi had learned a bit of information about faith-magic by reading documents in the Slane Theocracy out of boredom.
But the discussion came to a halt when Leinas came in and got into the discussion.
"You look better than a few nights ago." Zesshi smiled.
"I hope so, as I am slowly getting used to being undead. Hope it isn't a problem." Leinas teased.
"None at all. Haven't I told you that Yuri is an undead?" Zesshi inquired.
"No, you haven't…" Leinas deadpanned.
An awkward silence filled the room and Arachama sighed.
"I'm sorry," Zesshi mumbled and Leinas giggled.
"No problem. Though Yuri is helping me with my new nature. I just hope that Lady Arachama can help me with information." Leinas smiled as she looked towards Arachama.
"Of course. I can give you books on tactics, weaknesses, strengths, and more. Just come to me this evening or ask Yuri to give it to you. It will do so until Monga is finished in Roble. But he is a far better teacher than I am." Arachama agreed.
"That would be great, Lady Arachama." Leinas beamed and soon everything was going as usual.
After a short while Enti came to her again and sneaked into Arachamas lap. The breakfast was a short and easy affair, with Arachama listening to every discussion for a little. Afterwards, her personal hell demanded her presence and thus she used "Gate" to get to her office
→ E-Rantel / Ainz Ooal Gown ←
After a few days, Ainz had enough of traveling via carriage and decided to use "Gate" to travel to E-Rantel. Once there he found that Aracha had prepared everything for his arrival, even if she expected his companions and him to arrive a few days later. But it wasn't a problem and thus he could provide excellent services and quarters for the nights, worthy of Queen Calca and her entourage.
As the queen was settled within her suit, he looked over the reports Albedo had provided, though he remembered her frantically contacting him over some renovations in his office, though that was probably something minor and thus irrelevant.
He then observed a few of his banes being removed from the list of his concerns. Requests and documents, that weren't so important in his eyes, were now officially cleared of him earlier in the command structure. He sighed in relief as he found that a "Pigeon Poetry Approval Request" from one of the adventurers was amongst them. It would increase the free time he had, which he would ultimately spend with his women.
Then he found out that Nazarick was now running on more profits and wondered if he could press Arachama to look over the bureaucracy from time to time.
"But the price for that would be steep…" he shuddered, already fearing how he would pay once he came back.
But he stopped at that as a knock came from the door.
"Come in," he ordered as he placed his mask back on.
The squire of Remedios came inside and bowed.
"Good evening, Lord Ainz Ooal Gown." She greeted him.
"Good evening, Neija Baraja…" Ainz responded in kind.
"So she is moving fast and sending her squire to spy on me." Ainz thought and would have squinted his eyes.
"I am here to help you, as Queen Bessarez knows the difficulty of ruling and going to war at the same time," Neija explained and Ainz slowly nodded.
"So the queen knows as well," he whispered to himself.
"Indeed, Lord Ainz Ooal Gown." Neija reaffirmed.
While Neija smiled at him, the cogs in his mind were running into overdrive and he was going through potential contingencies, as his emotional suppression kicked in.
"What am I going to do?" he asked himself.
"That is forthcoming of her." he retorted and Neija nodded, unease in her face.
"How can I help you then, Lord Ainz?" she asked.
"Bring those documents to the table over there." he answered and pointed towards the stack containing the "Royal Sock Sorting Decree" and others. Neija did as asked while Ainz observed her.
"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer, isn't it?" he thought and decided to keep a close watch on Neija.
With all the work continuing, Neija supported him by sorting the paperstacks accordingly and they easily finished the stacks of paper.
Afterward one of the Homunculi Maids brought tea for Neija and the squire drank it slowly, trying to not be rude towards Ainz.
"That was a large amount of paper," she whispered seemingly to herself.
"It is. But my dear friend Aracha has almost cut the unnecessary ones out. So I saw a large amount of the stack over there for the last time." Ainz sighed and pushed a piece of cake over. Afterward, he dropped his mask and was surprised when Neija didn't recoil in shock.
She observed his face and he raised an eyebrow. After a short while, he looked into the window, as it was already dark, and saw that it was his Incubus-form.
"So I left it on." he thought and decided that it might help him.
"Why do you wear a mask, Lord AInz Ooal Gown?" Neija inquired.
"It has become a habit," he answered and Neija simply nodded.
"I see. Can I ask a question though?" Neija inquired.
"Of course," Ainz replied, remembering the first days Arachama pestered him for answers about Yggdrasil during the time of Nine Ooal Gown.
"How will you help Roble? I am just curious." Neija asked.
"While we speak, food supplies are rerouted and will travel to Roble. But before we deal with the threat the distribution is obsolete. Thus I will take more direct action." he answered, hinting towards the copy of his staff.
"Can I see it for myself? I know it might be too much, but I never imagined that Roble would get help or could deal with the demi-humans." she requested, looking towards the floor.
"So she wants to gather more information for Remedios, and might as well give them some. I hope that it will ease negotiations along the line." he thought and nodded.
"That sounds agreeable, as long as you don't run into my spells," he agreed.
"Then I shall serve you as squire for that time." Neija beamed and Ainz smiled.
"Then we have a deal," he said and held his hand out, which she shook.
"Yes, we have," Neija answered.
Not long after Neija was sent to her chambers as Ainz still observed the seat Neija had used.
"Why do I get memories in those situations?" he asked himself, already liking the prospect of having company in his future war against the demi-humans.
"But it just feels great to teach someone, just like I did back then for Aracha." he smiled as he returned to Nazarick.
Slowly Ainz went over the steps and found his way towards his bedroom, when he stumbled into "his" office. The shock was great as he frantically searched for his heavy desk.
"It is in storage, but while you do your stuff, it is MY office," Arachama exclaimed a heavy glare at Ainz.
He only raised his hands and went to his bedroom, Albedo following him to have a great time.
→ Underneath Re-Estize and other countries ←
While the overworld was in a lull and uneasy truce, underneath the entire known world, but especially underneath Re-Estize, all hell was loose. A gigantic war was unfolding beneath the feet of Re-Estize, Baharut, the Dwarven Kingdom, the Azerlisa Mountains, and the other nations. Only Roble wasn't within the conflict, as Bubonica had seized it without much resistance, thanks to plague monks in the labyrinth of ratways and her clanrats clearing the overworld under Lord Demiurge's watchful gaze. The skaven realm was a labyrinth, which was now filled with even more treachery and bloodshed as a war of unprecedented scales was waging on since Bubonica had made her move to secure her rule.
Clan Critz had unleashed a relentless campaign of subterfuge, assassination, and espionage against her. Under Sneak, Clan Critz operated with ruthless efficiency during this war, striking fear into the hearts of their enemies. He felt like his youthful vigor returned while ordering assassinations, espionage, and other underhand tricks.
In the depths of the skaven realm, Clan Critz's agents moved like phantoms, slipping past enemy defenses and infiltrating their strongholds with ease. Assassins stalked the tunnels, their blades ready to strike for the blood of high-ranking leaders and influential figures. No rat-men with any semblance of influence was safe from Clan Critz's deadly embrace. As the bodies of Clan Pestin's vassal clan leaders piled up, fear gripped the hearts of those who dared to stay beside Clan Pestin's rule.
Meanwhile, Clan Pestin found themselves attacked on almost all fronts. Clan Critz's relentless attacks on their supply lines left them without supplies, their mighty army now struggling to feed itself. Disinformation spread like wildfire, sowing doubt and discord among Clan Pestin's ranks. Even their most loyal servants began to question their allegiance as squeals and squeaks of betrayal filled the tunnels. Bubonica was moving around her new territory and judging hundreds of warlords, clan leaders, and more to judge their worth and loyalty, running out of patience to a dangerous degree.
But Clan Critz's success was not without its problems. While they excelled in the shadows, they failed on the battlefield. Despite their best efforts, they were no match for Clan Pestin's monstrous infantry and overwhelming numbers. Ambushes turned into bloody massacres as Clan Critz's assassins, clanrats, and slaves were cut down by the relentless tide of Clan Pestin's forces.
As the war escalated, the tunnels became choked with the corpses of the fallen, blocking passage and hindering further combat. Water sources were poisoned, food grew scarce, and disease spread like wildfire through both sides. Clan Pestin's plague monks, wielding foul magic and deadly poxes, inflicted suffering upon their enemies, turning the tide of battle in their favor. Even if Clan Critz managed to kill a few of them in battles, the tunnels were not usable due to infections. If they fought them near water, the water turned poisonous.
In the chaos of battle, even the most cunning and paranoid of Skaven could not distinguish friend from foe. "Accidental" and accidental ambushes became commonplace as paranoia and treachery consumed both sides. The clear lines of conflict, which once had been clear to all clans, were now blurred as Skaven turned on each other with reckless abandon, driven by fear, paranoia, neurotic thoughts, and desperation to new heights.
But Bubonica the cunning strategist, at least if someone were to ask her, had an ace up her sleeve. With meticulous planning and a few snorts of bluestones in her nose, she prepared pots of disease, poxes, and toxins to force Clan Critz into compliance and subservience. Positioned at every entrance to Critz-controlled areas, these deadly traps lay in wait, ready to unleash death upon any who dared to trespass. Clan Critz's assassins, once free in their movements and tactics, found themselves ensnared in Bubonica's deadly web, their bodies wracked with agonizing poxes, infections, illness, and death as they succumbed to the concoctions within her pots.
Amidst the unwanted chaos and carnage against his clan, Sneak knew that time was running out. With his forces getting smaller and smaller, and the gains of Clan Critz being outmatched by the ones by Clan Pestin, he turned his gaze to the surface, where another tool of his was doing his bidding. A man-thing under his control was the key to negotiations that could end the demise of his clan. But with each passing moment, Sneak's position grew weaker, he already had to put down a few possible threats to his authority. He hoped that a second offensive by the man-things against the beard-things could be a big enough threat to Bubonica to get as much as possible in negotiations.
All of this was ongoing, without the knowledge of the wider world.
→ Re-Estize Royal-palace / Barbo ←
Despite his relationship with his sister, which for all intents and purposes was close to not existing, Barbo found himself consumed by worry on the night Renner went missing. Every street and home of the palace and capital was searched through, every residence turned inside out in a frantic search for the kidnapped princess. The populace was in uproar and, surprising Barbo, even helped the soldiers during the search. Yet, despite their efforts, Renner remained elusive, likely in the clutches of Gazef Stronoff.
Barbo didn't need to ask his advisors to point out the amount of problems this situation presented. First and foremost was the questioning of his authority. As ruler, the safety and security of the nobles rested squarely on his shoulders, and Renner's disappearance cast doubt on his ability to maintain order.
Second, though he would not admit it publicly, Renner had proven herself to be a valuable source of information. Her absence meant that Re-Estize was now without a proper network within the ranks of their enemy. If he knew Renner properly, she might even sell information to their enemy in exchange for some benefits, but that wouldn't do.
And then there was the matter of Renners arranged marriage to his trusted friend, Philip. Without her presence, the marriage could not be fulfilled. That would cast a shadow of doubt over his integrity and thus the value of his word. All in all her disappearance, if prolonged, would damage his rule.
With these problems on his mind, Barbo dispatched his knights and soldiers to scour every inch of the kingdom in search of any trace of Renner or Stronoff. Yet, as if that wasn't enough, another problem was working on Barbo and his mind lately.
In the dark recesses of his vision, he glimpsed at beady red eyes and sometimes he witnessed the flicker of rat tails. Lurking in the shadows and corners of his palace were his new guards, who were ready to strike him down if he even dared to step out of line. Each morning brought a sense of unease to him, as he ventured out into the halls. But he only finds the phantom figures vanished before he can fully discern their form.
While all this assaulted the mind of Barbo, there was also the looming war with the dwarfs. He observed the commoners drilling from his position at the window. They prepared to do their duty to the kingdom and he was ready to sacrifice them for the greater good of the kingdom.
"Such a heavy duty I have to do." Barbo thought as he sighed.
As discussions unfolded among the nobles about the needed hierarchy questions were thrown out.
"What if the dwarfs agree to our demands?" one noble inquired, seeking to know of the contingencies.
"If they agree to our demands, it is a sign of their weakness. We must exploit that weakness to assert our dominance over those creatures," he declared, his tone annoyed.
"So it will be war regardless...?" an older margrave queried.
"Indeed," Barbo affirmed, his gaze lingering on the barracks where the commoners trained. "We cannot waste the call we made when we decided to call the levies," he added, the cheers of agreement from the nobles echoing in his ears.
→ RHK Hoburns ←
An awkward silence filled the second day of the attack. The enemy rat-men kept a respectful distance, as did the demi-humans. The garrison meanwhile prepared as much as they could. Arrows were placed on top of the walls. The number of sentries grew, and most of the archers also began to sleep on the walls. The normal soldiers and levies now used the weapons available and prepared to fight anything that wasn't human.
The chaplains were waiting and observing the enemy, assured by the large amount of supplies in the depots.
"Should we try to make a sortie?" one of them asked.
"No. They wouldn't be able to return to the safety of these walls. It would gain us nothing but weaken us." another one disagreed and with the grumbling approval of the others the sorties were not used.
"What else are we going to do?" asked the chaplain.
"We will wait and observe. Something isn't right here." another grumbled.
"The enemy is too cautious, too passive." another agreed.
"Check the cellars and look for cracks. Maybe there is tunneling?" asked the youngest.
"Yes. We will do that." the rest agreed.
Meanwhile, the besieger is relaxing and shifts are prepared. Large camps were erected amongst the ruined outer city. Demi-humans and ratmen feasted like never before and the demon Jaldaboath was observing all of this, a smirk on his face.
"So we are in stage two." the demon grinned.
→ Karak-Ar-Araz / Gondo ←
As another day broke on, and after he had drunk more kegs of ale than ever before, Gondo woke up with a slight headache. But that didn't stop him from his day. He started by bringing a new keg of ale to the statue, which the clan had erected for Gondoric. Small offerings were brought to the former clan head and Godoric saw that the offerings changed almost every day. He placed the keg onto the small altar before the statue and then prayed that his great-grandfather was proud of his clan.
Afterward, he, as well as other beardlings, met in front of a large hall. It was used to teach beardlings the first steps of runecraft and blacksmithing. The teaching itself was usually done by an esteemed elder, most of the time Belegar Klinkabearer, though other elders sometimes chimed in, to the amusement of the beardlings. Most notable for Gondo was that he seemed to understand runes without any problem like he had seen all runic arrays before. It bummed him a bit but also filled him with joy to know that he wasn't far behind. That wouldn't do for his future.
As soon as noon was reached, the lunch was distributed. It usually consisted of ale, bread, and meat. But today, due to good news amongst clan Ironspine, the beardlings also received some cheese.
But then Gondo was called into the clan's Hall. The statue of Gondoric was on one side, while the council of the clan was on the other side. Belegar signed for him to take a seat beside him and then the dark elf, which was now accompanying the clan, stepped into the hall.
"L-Lady A-A-Arachama wants you t-to know t-t-t-t-that the R-Re-Estize k-kingdom plans a war." Mare, as Gondo recalled, told them.
Immediately the other council members were hissing towards each other and Gondo led Mare outside. It took an entire evening and started to go into the night when the council had decided upon an action.
Belegar and Gondo went towards the council chamber of Karak-Ar-Araz, while messengers were sent to the other clans. It didn't take long until the chamber was filled with annoyed clan heads, shortkings, and the tired high king.
"We received news from a reliable source, that our neighbor will commit an oath-breaking, my dear kin!" Belegar shouted in outrage.
"Who is the source, dear friend?" Gongrimm asked.
"We have a messenger from our ally, Lady Arachama, inside our holds. This allows us to communicate with Nazarick." Belegar explained.
A small wave of grumbling filled the room and dissipated as quickly as it appeared.
"So they are planning to break their oaths of old." Gongrimm sighed.
"That leaves only one option. We need to prepare once more." the high king summarized.
Other clan heads, especially amongst the younger, disagreed and a shouting match ensued between the younger clan heads and most of the older ones.
It lasted until a thunder echoed through the hall and all heads turned towards Gongrimm.
"We sons of Grommelbart have drunk much from the font of misfortune. But it would be new to me if we cave in the face of adversity. We await the messenger, then we stay by our allies of Nazarick. If we go to war, then we will show them that we are, besides Nazarick, the worst thing they ever faced. We show them what true reckoning is." Gongrimm declared and even the younger ones looked at him in shock.
"He is getting more active. Either the other clan heads had run Gongrimms patience thin or he is glad that he has a chance to fulfill his oath." Belegar mused.
"What oath?" Gondo inquired.
"You're too young for that. But I guess it is a combination of both." Belegar told Gondo and nodded at Gongrimm.
"Clan Firebeard will help clan Ironspine during the coming hardship, as we have always done." Belegar declared his support and Gongrimm nodded.
"Clan Powdernose stands beside its allies and will prepare the war machines." Orgel Powdernose agreed, cracking his fingers.
Slowly, and with more hesitation, the others in the chamber agreed that war was inevitable and thus the dwarfs should prepare.
Just as Gondo was about to leave the chamber, Gongrimm came closer and Belegar held Gondo back.
"Can't wait to test my mettle again. Especially against oathbreakers." Gongrimm smirked.
"Yes. I have a few new runes I want to try out." Belegar agreed and both gave each other a friendly hug. Afterward, Gongrimm gave Gondo Off-Switch.
"Here Gondo. I was tasked with watching over it by my brother. Sadly he isn't able to reclaim it. Thus you get it." Gongrimm said to Gondo, who took the hammer and immediately observed and understood the runic array
"Quite terrifying actually." he heard Belegar whisper to Gongrimm.
"He has the personality of my brother. Should have seen him writing down notes upon notes by observing the anvil of doom your clan then had." Gongrimm laughed.
"How are the twins doing?" Gondo inquired.
"They are loud, need a lot of attention, and are already a menace. Overall they fill my clan and me with joy." Gongrimm smiled as he rubbed his eyes.
"But they are exceptionally good for Grolli. She is practically in a constant fight with the twin's mother over who should take care." he continued.
"That is good. But we also need to go and inform our clan. Maybe we should drink together soon?" Belegar threw in.
"We should. I am sure the twins' mother could use a distraction for Grolli and the clan could use a bit of peace." Gongrimm agreed and thus the group was moving out.
→ Nazarick "Arachamas"-office / Arachama ←
After Monga left with Albedo shortly behind him, Arachama continued her paperwork stacks. Luckily she only had another two before she could go home. Enti meanwhile came back and brought her another smoothie. So she worked, cuddled Enti, and drank another drink.
This went on for roughly an hour when the last of the papers was finished and Arachama cracked her shoulder.
"Mom, can we take something to eat? I am quite hungry." Enti asked, a pleading look underneath the mask.
"Of course. Can you contact Yuri while I bring the stacks to their place?" she asked and gave Enti the necessary scrolls, which the arachnoid immediately used. She placed the finished stacks of paper in the necessary bags and then into the correct shelf.
As she was finished and Enti back in her lap the mother-daughter duo teleported to the cantinee and got their steaks and fried crickets. They stuffed themselves for a while and then cuddled in the empty canteen.
As she realized that Enti was asleep, Arachama slowly, and steadily, cast "Gate" to bring them to her mansion. She got Enti into her room and covered her under a blanket. Then she looked around and found her other daughter still playing on the playground. Just as she entered, two rockets crashed into her and Arachama engulfed the twins.
"How was the day?" she asked Yuri, who smiled at the twins.
"As calm as ever, Lady Arachama," Yuri answered.
"So you were good girls?" she asked the twins, who eagerly nodded.
"Then you have no problem going to sleep?" Arachama asked as she scooped them up, to the twins' delight.
Meanwhile, the rooms to Arche and Zesshis bedroom were closed and a look to Yuri told her all she needed to know.
"So they were tired as well?" she thought and continued on her way.
"I let you deal with Leinas?" she inquired.
"Of course, Lady Arachama," Yuri replied.
Soon after the twins were washed and all three Arachne were in their pajamas, they cuddled in Arachamas bed. Not long after the rhythmic snoring of the twins made her lose her resistance and the eight eyes closed themselves. The last picture was of her egg in a baby bed.
→ Arwintar Imperial-palace / Jircniv ←
The day unfolded with a nice peaceful environment, which seemed almost out of place amongst the recent tedious two weeks that had characterized the last and would characterize the ongoing weeks. He felt a good sense of calm, offering a break from the chaos that had become all too familiar due to his future empress and his planning. It was a welcome oddity for Jircniv, who found some peace in the comparative stillness of the day.
One factor for this newfound peace was that the preparations for his impending nuptials with his beloved fiancee, Arachama, were finished. The process had not been without its fights, as they fought through a war of decisions and compromises. Yet, after countless debates and discussions, they finally reached an agreeable compromise, allowing them to relish the days before the wedding while the wedding itself was prepared.
Despite Arachama's commitment to adhere to tradition, she had also infused elements of her own into the wedding plans. While Jircniv agreed with her to respect the cultural heritage of Baharut, he couldn't help but be intrigued by the unique touches she had added. That would give their wedding something special and he was interested to see how it would influence the other nobles. It was an interesting situation, as he was excited about the future he would have with his future empress.
But Jircniv, to his despair, found himself barred from glimpsing Arachama's wedding gown. It was the topic of much tension and anticipation. His curiosity was always at its peak, but he knew better than to risk the wrath of his future empress by attempting to satisfy his curiosity. Her magical abilities were a great argument for her desire to surprise him. He instead would wait for her surprise and hoped that she was looking perfect, though that would be nothing new for him.
Though the wedding was of great concern for him he had also to rule his empire. That included the former war in the South, which left him a bit sour. But with his future empress plans he was quite certain that the threat would be dealt with within the decade. The trade, which had been interrupted, was now going smoothly and he would make sure that his empire would implement new strategies and contingencies if they were to face the southern tribes again.
As the afternoon had set in, Jircniv and Arachama decided to spend more time with each other, playing a few games of chess before retiring to the balcony to watch the sunset. The warmth of the night was embracing the couple and both relaxed further. Arachama nestled against his shoulder and he placed his head on hers. He could remain like this for the rest of his life, but he would first need to secure his future empress.
As the night had invaded the realm, Jircniv continued to hold Arachama and felt himself feeling tired. He signed for Tuare to bring a blanket and then covered his future wife and himself with it. Jircniv listened to the rhythmic breathing of Arachama before the rhythm brought his eyes slowly and steadily together. The last picture of the night was his future wife's hair before the sleep took over.
→ Secluded Area within Re-Estize Kingdom / Renner ←
As the day went on Renner's head also began to spin. They needed to make a few rests in between, but luckily they were traveling through a more secluded area within the kingdom and as such were barely seen. Renner also mused by herself, always thinking about the reward she would receive as part of the deal. She also, seemingly to the amusement of Stronoff, stared at the place where Climb would be visible if he weren't driving the carriage.
As the night set in they continued until she couldn't take any more of her motion sickness. Then they prepared a camp. Stronoff decided to take the watch, as Climb was driving the carriage and needed the rest. Renner herself just used blankets and used her father as a pillow.
The clearing was quite open and the sky was clear so she looked out and observed the stars. The glimmer hypnotized her and enticed her to sleep, but then Stronoff shouted and Climb jumped inside the carriage, closing the doors.
"What is going on?" Renner asked, still tired.
"A great amount of ogres. We will move away and then rest elsewhere, Princess Renner," he reported and Renner sighed.
She sat down beside Climb and slowly moved closer to him. Inch after inch she crept towards him. They drove the carriage for roughly an hour before Stronoff stopped it.
Just in time for her to give Climb a peck on his cheek and then giggle accidentally, before pulling a blanket over herself.
She looked at Climb and his bright red cheeks with glee and knew that the reward was well worth it.
