Rising Storms
A Harry Potter and Percy Jackson crossover
Chapter 1:
Harry
In a small village, a small family was happily getting ready for bed. James Potter, a tall man with messy dark brown hair and hazel eyes hidden behind round glasses, laughed as his young son reached for his nose from his mother's arms. "It's time for bed, Harry. Say goodnight and let your mum tuck you in." He smiled at the fifteen-month-old.
Harry giggled, his eyes just as green and sparkly as his mom's, and waved his hand at his dad. "Night-night, Dada."
"Good night, Harry, sweet dreams." James kissed Harry's forehead. Then he looked up at Lily, his lovely wife. The wards suddenly shuddered, drawing their attention to the front door. "It's him, Lily! Take Harry and run! Take the portkey!"
James turned to fully face the front door, his wand sliding into his hand.
Lily ran up the stairs holding Harry tight to her chest. She had to get to his nursery to be able to leave the house. The nursery room was the only room in the cottage that had a one-way apparition point/portkey area. Otherwise, she'd have to run past Voldemort somehow. However, as soon as they entered the nursery, she heard a body fall.
Meanwhile, James was facing the Dark Lord Voldemort. "You are not welcome here, Voldemort."
Voldemort laughed. "Potter, are you sure that you wouldn't want to join me?"
"Never," James replied vehemently. He raised his wand, but Voldemort sent the killing curse at him. He knew he couldn't block the spell, so he dodged… but he tripped over one of Harry's toys and fell to the ground with wide eyes. His head hit the ground hard, and before his vision went black and his eyes closed… he heard Voldemort scoff and walk towards the stairs.
Lily heard the footsteps on the stairs, and the swish of a cloak, and she hurried to put Harry in the crib before turning around to block sight of her son. A minute later, the nursery door burst apart, and she was faced with the pale face and red eyes of Voldemort.
"Step aside, girl. If you do, I'll welcome you to my side." Voldemort stepped forward towards the redhead.
"No," Lily replied. "Please, leave Harry alone."
Voldemort shook his head. "Silly girl, I don't want to kill you. Step aside."
Lily pleaded again, using her wand to slice a finger behind her back.
"I'll ask you one last time: Stand aside, you silly little girl." Voldemort stepped forward again.
The blood from her finger dripped onto the floor behind her in a small pattern. "Please, kill me. Leave my son alone." She thought of her husband's dead body downstairs.
Voldemort glared at the muggleborn and raised his wand. "Avada Kedavra."
Harry watched his mom fall to the ground in front of his crib. Then his large green eyes looked up at the menacing figure before him.
Red eyes once again met green as Voldemort looked at his nemesis… the baby that was destined to obstruct his plans and possibly defeat him. He raised his wand and another flash of green before Voldemort's world exploded!
Some time later, a black-haired man with silver eyes came into the cottage warily and saw the body on the floor in front of the couch. The man rushed over to the body with a cry of "James!" He felt for a pulse and sighed in relief. "Thank Merlin! You're alive. Renervate!"
James slowly woke up, looking up at the man above. "Padfoot? What are you doing here?" His eyes looked around the room. "Why am I on the floor?" Then he saw the toy, the stuffed rat that Harry had thrown earlier that day, and he remembered his fall. "Oh," he said, sheepishly.
"Yeah," Sirius said, trying not to laugh. "Oh." He sobered up quickly. "I hear Harry crying, so I'm going to go check on him. You sit on the couch and rest. I'll bring Harry to you shortly." When James nodded, Sirius ran up the stairs to the nursery, seeing the destroyed door. His gaze fell on the pile of ash and robes and then Lily's still body. There was a small pentagram drawn with blood on the floor before Harry's crib, likely from the bleeding finger on Lily's hand, and Harry sat in his crib crying as he looked down at Lily. "Oh, Harry, pup," Sirius said.
Harry looked up at Sirius, his crying slowing down, and he reached up. "Pafoo!"
Sirius reached down and picked Harry up. "Let me get a look at you, Prongslet. Oh, yes, you got a little cut. Don't worry, pup, we'll get that looked at." He looked into the young green eyes. "Do you want to see your daddy?"
"Dada!" Harry said, looking at the doorway.
Sirius chuckled and carried Harry out of the room and down to where James was left. When James looked up at Sirius, Sirius shook his head and James nodded sadly. "Papa time!" Sirius said to Harry, handing the toddler over to his father. "I'm going to send for the aurors."
"Thanks, Sirius," James said, holding Harry tightly to him.
Sirius stepped to the next room, and sent a patronus to the head of the DMLE. "This is Auror Sirius Black requesting auror backup to Potter Cottage in Godric's Hollow. Lord Voldemort has attacked and killed Lily Potter. I need an arrest warrant and search for Peter Pettigrew, who turns into a brown garden rat, for being the Potter's secret keeper and betraying the family. Please bring Veritaserum."
A little while later, aurors stormed the cottage, wands out, and pointed at Sirius Black. "Sirius Black, you are under-"
"Woah!" Sirius exclaimed. "I called you here. Why are you trying to arrest me?" He looked at James in confusion. James shrugged. Neither of them could figure out why the aurors thought that Sirius needed to be arrested.
"You were the secret keeper!" one young auror yelled.
James looked at him incredulously. "Really? Do you think that I would allow him in here if he was the secret keeper?" The aurors looked at James in shock, as if they weren't aware that he was actually alive. "Sirius suggested that Peter would be a better secret keeper, while he played decoy, which would make everyone chase Sirius and let us stay safe. Dumbledore performed the spell. Besides, if Sirius betrayed us, he would have lost his life as he is Harry's oath-sworn godfather."
"But Dumbledore said," the young auror replied, confused.
"Dumbledore said that I was the actual secret keeper?" Sirius asked. When he got some nods, he continued, "When? When did he say this?"
"Just now," the head auror, Amelia Bones, said, looking contemplative. "Why would Dumbledore want you to be arrested?" she asked.
"Who knows," Sirius said, shrugging. He told them what happened that evening, and Amelia sent out her aurors while she got official statements.
"I'll let you know what happens next. Will you be staying here?" Amelia asked.
"No," James said. "Harry and I will be heading back to Potter Manor, where we would have been tonight if Dumbledore hadn't insisted on us hiding here."
They could see Amelia's thoughts turning. "Okay. I'll see you both soon. Oh, you can register your animagus forms now, since the war seems to be over." She smiled at the two men, who grinned back at her. "I hope to have you back in the ranks, James, but I understand if you want to take time to raise Harry yourself. Goodbye, boys."
