When All Was Lost...

Chapter One

1

"Hmph...what trash...about to pass out already..."

"Stop...stop it!" She cried through the rain as the man on his knees fell to the concrete, with a splash to the muck

"I'm...so sorry...Akarii..."

"Stop it- Let him go- LET MY BROTHER GO!"

"Akarii, come on! We HAVE to go!"

"NO!"
"Akarii!"

Akarii...

Akarii...?

Akarii!

Her amber colored eyes shot open, reflecting black flames within them-

"Sir- theres been a change detected in the subject's body!"

A woman's voice cut through the piercing pain in her head. Her eyes were open, body awake, but it seemed her mind hadn't quite caught up yet.

"What sort of change?" a man's voice spoke out in response- almost panicked.

"Hard to say..." the oman responded in kind, "But by the looks of this wave pattern here...it seems she could definitely be going through some sort of mental distress maybe?" she states ith the rapid clicking of keys in pursuit.

"I see..." the man said softly.

"What should I do, Sayer, sir?"

"...That's enough for now." he stated,"Perhaps it's time we put this one to ork for us..." he said softly, "While she's shown no sign of any substantial psychic power...her instinct and intuition are beyong what you ould expect ofnormal humans." he pauses, "Aside from that..she's clearly showing intense reactions to something...we should find out what."

"Very well, sir. Consciousness is beginning to show in her eyes."

"Good." said Sayer, "Once our subject can walk...Take her to her room, will you?"

"Yes, Sayer."

xxxxx

Akarii groaned ith a cool damp rag over her eyes once she as brought back to her shared room.

"Rough treatment, huh?" Akiza Izinski. A bergundy haired, voluptuous beauty who has been Akarii's room mate amongst the rest of their brothers and sisters in this place that Akarii has heard called, The Arcadia Movement.

"Give it time Akarii...the treatments will get easier."

"I swear it's been years...and they still haven't gotten any easier." Akarii groans. she was certain she's been under their care for a few years now...The concerning part if it however...was she couldn't remember exactly when that was...or how she wound up there...and when she tried...her headaches got a whole lot worse.

"Hmm..." Akiza hummed softly, "Well, Sayer says that you have been making a lot of progress." she said softly, "Do you remember anything from the treatment?"

"Not really..." she said softly, "I was dreaming, I think."

"Dreaming?" Akiza blinked, "What about?"

"...My brother..."

"Oh?"

"There were...other guys too." she said softly, "And...black fire..."

"Black fire?"

But before Akarii could elaborate further, both she and Akiza were startled by Sayer's sudden entry into their room.

"Good evening ladies~" Sayer says with a charming smile that always gave Akarii the most uncomfortable of chills...

"Good evening, Sayer." Akiza hummed. Unlike Akarii, she actually enjoyed Sayer's company...
"Surely you have heard tell of the Fortune Cup tournament they will soon be hosting?"

Akarii peeked a bit from below her cloth. Somehow, something about that dueling tourbament made something stir ithin her...though, she couldn't quite touch on what it was...except that it was a familiar feeling...

"Well apparently, a large number of duelists with amazing skills will participate in this tournament." his eyes narrowed, "Sector Security is everywhere around that place..." he muttered, "I can't let them go about their business without any oversight, now can I?"

Akarii's eyes narrowed.
Sector Security...they left a painful disgusting twist of knots in Akarii's stomach.

Kai...

My Brother...

"As you know, Akiza has been invited to take part in this Fortune Cup." he stated, "So, Akarii, as per your skillset, I am going to need you to infiltrate the rear of the event hall, as Akiza's support, you see."
"As per her skillset?" Akiza questioned.

"...My skillset?" Akarii sounded just as confused as she sat up. This headache was killer...

"But of course. You remember, don't you, Akarii?" Sayer stated, "You of everyone here have had more run-ins with sector security given how often you have infiltrated them-"

"Did I do that?" she questions while her eyes narrow.

Yes, the image seemed to be coming clearer to her now...

"That's right...I did do that..." she said softly.

But...did I really do that alone?

I could have sworn there was someone else...someone...

She tried to think back further...bue it seemed the closer she got to the answer, the more intense her headcahe got.

"Akarii, are you all right?"

"She is just tired, Akiza." he said softly, "I will see to Akarii, for now, you just worry about the preparations to give those fools a real taste of your power."

"...Yes, Sayer." she said softly, "Everything will go as you wish."

"All right, Akarii. Your field training starts now." he stated, "Go. Find out what you can- and report back to me."

"..Yes...Sayer."
