When All Was Lost...
Chapter Thirty-Nine

"I'm in!"
She spoke in a hacker voice through the receiver as she slipped her way into the pipeline.
This is the way Yusei got out...
She thought to myself.
So this is the way I'm going too!
"Nice job!" Crow's voice came in like static on the other side,"Don't let up though Security is still on your ass!"
"Crow, what's wrong on your end?" she asked,"I can barely hear you!"
"It's the pipeline." he hissed back,"Reception won't be that good in there...just don't worry about it!" he krackled,"Focus on your speed and don't let up!"
"I'm on it!"
Though it wasn't long until she heard those sirens blaring.
"STOP THE RUNNER!" The officer cried,"YOU'RE UNDER ARREST!"
"Don't let up Akarii! Not an inch!" Crow rang out,"keep going!"
She let out a huff and revved her engine again to speed up.
"You punk..." Trudge growled,"You won't escape me!"
Bet!
She thought to herself and focused full speed ahead.
The path ways through the Pipeline were long and winding. Full of many twists and turns. She could see now why Crow told her to make sure she didn't lose momentum. One slip up here and she'd be joining the dead. The Sector Security scum bag remained hot on her trail. All she could do was weave and maneuver while maintaining her speed, if not...going faster somehow.
I need to lose him!
She thought to myself.
Easier said than done.
Despite the turns in this set up...it was still only one only way she could lose him is by remaining faster than him and hoping to make her great escape once back in the city.
I only hope they aren't still looking for me...
She sighed.
Her escape from Arcadia was still pretty fresh.
But it is also them that makes her finding Jack and Yusei again all the more important...
No matter what it takes!
"Crow! I think I can see the exit!" she said through the receiver, though the static over powered his connection
"Th-kssh Grt-ss...Keekrsshhp going!"
"Crow!?"
The siren behind her was getting louder.
Shit he's catching up!
She thought to herself and fiddled with her systems.
Gotta go fast...gotta go faster!
At last she could see a light.
"The lights of the city!" she said excitedly,"Crow, I'm almost there!"
Though all she could hear was relentless hissing.
"THERE'S NO WHERE TO RUN, SATELITE SCUM!"
I see my friend is still in pursuit.
If I can just slip out before him...and make a quick turn somewhere...I can lose him!
She thought to myself.
Then I gotta keep a low profile for a while until I find Yusei again at least...
"I can't believe you punks think you can just slip away through the pipeline like this!" he huffed,"And that you're foolish enough to try it again!?" he scoffed,"You're reckless, if nothing else!"
She snickered.
"...Reckless, huh?" She called back to him and she could feel him audibly gasp. This must have been the first time she said anything to him at all...guess he never expected to be out classed by a lady.
"Yeah..." she laughed,"I've been called that once or twice~!"
"Why you..." he gave a low grumbling growl,"You have no idea what you're dealing with you piece of shit!" he huffed,"You're MINE! GET BACK HERE!"
"Hmmm...nah. No thanks." she laughed and revved it up faster.
The goaline was in her reach.
"N-No...WAIT!"
"See-Ya~" she beamed and slipped out in his sights.
She was gone
Trudge's Runner came to a screetching stop as he watched the girl slip away from his grasp.
"Dammit..." he huffed to himself and sighed,"I can't believe she got away...Ah well...not for long." he said as he pressed a button on his runner to release a signal to the higher ups.
"Looks like she's their problem now..."
xxxxx
"Crow I did it!" she called to him as she came to a stop after losing her pursuiter at last,"I made it out...I'm in!"
"Th-shhhhtsss grthsss-"
"Crow?" she blinked. It was clear outside, there shouldn't be a problem with the signal...
"Krii-Gshh...RUN!"
"Run?" she blinked, suddenly the sound of blaring sirens echoed around her.
NO!
She thought to herself.
Securities! They're jamming the signal!
"TRESSPASSER FROM SATELLITE! YOU ARE UNDER ARREST!"
NO!
She cried it internally trying to make an escape. But it was too late. She was surrounded.
"There's no where to run now..." said the helmetted officer,"Turn yourself in and give up!"
Akarii was quickly yanked off her duel runner. Helmet removed, red hair flying as she is shoved to her knees in the gravel with her arms bent behind her back.
She gritted her teeth in frustration as she glared at each one of them.
"The report came in from Officer Trudge." said the officer,"Your Duel Runner and Cards will be confiscated...You are off to the Detention center!"
"No-NO I CAN'T uggh!" she cried out.
She tried to struggle but that only increased their lock on her and she finally huffed in defeat.
I...Can't believe this...
This...can't be it...is it?
She clenched her teeth and shut her eyes tight to fight back the sting of dust and tears.
I failed...

"Akarii? Akarii? No...NO...Akarii!? DAMMIT!" Crow huffed as he tossed his head set against the wall.
"What happened!?" asked Rally who watched from behind with Tank, Nervin and Blitz,"Is Akarii okay!?"
"I knew I shouldn't have let her go!" he heaved a heavy and frustrated sigh.
"What do you mean, Crow!?" asked Rally,"What happened to Akarii!?"
Crow looked back at the boy who held such high concerns for her.
It seemed Rally took a real fond liking to Akarii while she was there...he blinked back sadly and averted his gaze.
"Akarii is..." Crow bit his lip,"I..." he sighed,"...I lost her..."
"What!?" Rally's eyes went wide as he gasped,"Akarii!" he cried out looking toward the monitor that they were using to keep connection with her...now only displayed a jumbled image of warp and static vision.
"No..." Rally sighed, leaned his head down, pulled his yellow beanie over his eyes as he cried.
