Chapter Forty

The rain...it was pouring that day...
"Haaah...haah...haah..." Kai's face...looked so...panicked.
He searched desperately for an escape. He held the girl close to him...too tightly.
"Big brother...it hurts...!" she whimpered and he would glance down at her with heavy breaths and try to crack a believable smile.
"Shhh...sh shh..." he said to her in a hushed tone,"I know...just a little longer okay?"
"Kai Rhodes! Kai Rhodes, you are suspected for theft and are under arrest! There's no where to run!"
The securities were relentless.
They never ceased their hot pursuit.
He held her tighter against him, panic on his face.
"Kai!"
"Over here!"
"Hurry!"
Kai gasped as the sound of three smaller voices called his name and he searched desperately for their source, finally resting on young Crow, Jack and Yusei who all hid themselves under a pile of junk, pleading and waving for him to join them.
"Ducklings~" he sighed with relief and hurried over,"Akarii first!" he stated as he handed her down to them and they helped pull her in making room for her to squeeze into their actually clever fox-hole sitiation that was a combination of a junk pile and a run down building of ruin. After she was tucked in securely he made his attempt to slide in as well.
"KAI RHODES!"
He gasped.
It was too late.
They were catching up and he didn't have the time to duck in without risking them all being captured.
"Kai, hurry!" she whined but he shushed her and gave her a tender smile.
"It's okay little sister...Your big brother will be back!" he said to me,"I'll come back for you...I promise!"
"No, Now-!"
"Shh sh..." he whinced and hurried to cover them all out of sight just before Securities arrived.
"Kai no-!"
"Shh!" Young Yusei hushed her and quickly cupped a hand over mouth while Crow held the girl close and Jack hovered over all of them...to work as a shield against being seen. They all waited silently, fear in their eyes unsure of what was gonna happen from there.
"On Your Knees, Scum!"
"AURGH!" Kai cried out as he was violently shoved to the gravel with a hand pressed on the back oh his head and both arms bent behind his back.
"It was just a few loafs of bread!" he huffed,"There are children STARVING out here, you ASSHOLES!" He barked,"And those cards were found here on the grounds of Satellite!" he argued,"Who are you to take away hope from us!?"
"Silence!"
The head security met Kai's face with an audible slap and the girl let out a shriek, that was muffled by the rough pressing of all of their hands as she was forced to watch this scene play out. Each one of them looked just as scared as she was. The man wore a gross smirk on his lips as he yanked her brother's hair back and foced him to look up.
"Theft is theft you little punk!" he scoffed,"now where's the brat you were carrying? I know you weren't alone!"
"You would mark a child!?"
"I said silence!" he scoffed as he slapped her brother again,"You think because you have a pretty face you can get away with injustice!?"
Kai let out a low growl, his red hair, much like his sister's, now wet with rain draping over and casting a shadow over his eyes amber eyes...
Eyes identical to hers.
"I'll mark anyone who breaks the law, and that brat you held is an accomplice, so hand her over!"
"Hmph..."Kai smirked as he spat blood,"...Over my dead body will I hand her to you dogs!" he gruffed.
"Hmm..." The head man hummed as he tapped a night stick like object against his palm before slamming it across the back of Kai's head, who fell with a pained cry before hitting the ground forward with a boot pressed roughly against his back while he grunted.
"Be careful what you wish for...Because...That could be arranged." the man whispered.
All of them let out a sharp gasp, though hers was more of a squealed cry that each of them muffled once more with cupped hands over her sound hole while she brokenly sobbed. Kai's amber eyes were fading but he shot them over in our direction and whispered words that no one could hear but they all understood.
"Shh..." he said to her...and glanced over to the boys that held her silent as he whispered,"...Take care of her, Ducklings...it's up to you now..." he grinned and held a heavy gaze on her trembling eyes,"It will be okay..." he said to her,"...I'll come back to you soon..." he said softly,"...I...promise..."
"Areas clear, sir." said one of the other officers and the man scoffed.
"Fine." he hissed, finally releasing his boot from her brother's back,"...Take him away."
"Yes Sir."
Her Brother Kai...at age 17 was pushed around and beaten during his arrest right before her eyes...
By Sector Security...in order to keep them safe.
It's been 10 years now since that day...
Kai...Are you okay?
"I'm okay, Rosie~"
Kai?
All she could see was white...
She saw her brother...approaching her unconscious body.
Why can't I move?
Kai?
Why can't I see you?
"I'll come back for you, Sis, I promise~"
She can hear his gentle voice.
Feel his gentle caresses on the back of her head, running down her hair.
"I'm coming back...I'm coming..."
She can see all the light fading...
Shadows are swarming around her body and a malicious grin is taking over his face...even his clothing is fading into black shadowy drapes, and his grip tighted around her neck.
"I'M COMING FOR YOU AKARII! HAHAHAHAAHHAHAAAAAAAAA~!
XXXXX
"AHHHH!" she let out a ghastly scream as she shot up from the cot she lay in.
It was a small blocked room.
I see.
This is a cell...
She thought to herself.
It's similar to what I had back at Arcadia...
She sighed and scratched at the markers that were now under my eyes, placed there as a symbol of her arrest.
Still though...
She blinked as she then gazed into her now trembling hands.
What was with that dream I had just now...?
She gulped and placed a hand over her throat...
A cold sweat running down her skin.
"Hey, newbie!"
One of the guards slammed on the door before it opened.
"It's free time now...get out and stretch your legs." he barked and soon left.
Akarii narrowed her amber eyes watching him go. Soon a commotion rose though...it seemed she wasn't the only one who caught attention. She crept closer to the door and peeked around the corner. Eyes widening in shock as she let out a gasp as to what was waiting just on the other side...
