When All Was Lost...
Chapter Forty-One

"Yusei!"
The ash haired male gasped as he was greeted by the arms of the all too familiar red headed duelist.
She was a bit smaller than him so a scene like this made them look like a couple of reunited lovers and encouraged a wave of whoops and hollers.
"Akarii!? What are you doing here!?" he was shocked to see her, running two gloved thumbs over the markers under her eyes, "I see...Sector Security caught you..." he gasped, "What about Rally and the others!?"
"It's okay." said Akarii, "I was caught when I escaped to the city."
"Escaped to the city!?" Yusei blinked.
Did she follow me!? Why!?
"How did you managed a feat like that!?"
"I...got some help from an old friend..." she smiled sadly.
Thank you, Crow...and I'm sorry.
"Wellllll Yusei~ you did't tell me you had a cutie stashed away~" a provocative tone of a light haired gentleman teased at the two.
"Say what?" Akarii blinked a few times to try and understand the situation.
"Akarii, this is Jaime." said Yusei, "He's my, uh...cell mate..."
A playful whistling soon followed from a much taller man and cheering from an older fellow.
The awkwardness could be read on Yusei's face as a sweat drop trickled down his marked cheek...
It was clear these guys didn't quite get the note.
"Yeah right...more like my kid sister..." he corrected.
"Oh...well if she's not your girlfriend, then...Can I date her~?" Jaime grinned pointing to himself before he was met with Yusei's boot to the gut.
"Bad move, buddy..." Yusei's tone forewarned and Akarii couldn't help but let out a giggle.
She was relieved to be reunited with Yusei again...
Nice to know she had a friend in the facility.
It turns out the commotion was because Yusei and Bolt Tanner, had a duel shortly before he made his way to her. Yusei had won, making quite a name for himself. Turns out the old man was whose deck he used to do so, someone Yusei had met on the Transport to the Facility and originally was bunked with until he was made to move in with Jaime.
They sat together backs to the wall while they filled each other in on their entire situation.
"I see...so you found Jack?" she asked.
"Yeah..." said Yusei, and we dueled too."
"And how'd that go?"
"Well...I woudn't call it great..." he said to her.
Yeah...Akarii had a feeling of that.
In fact she sensed there was something even more to it...
Which was why she was so determined to make it back to the city...to make it back to them...
"Infact it was strange...like a sudden storm of power...just swirling around us and then..." he blinked and looked down on his arm, "And then some kind of mark appeared..."
"A mark?"
A sharp pain twinged in her arm and she grunted, covering it with her other hand...
Okay...that was random...
"It was glowing...and burning...whatever the case...it's gone now..." he blinked as he took notice of Akarii's sudden drop in color on her face while holding on to her own arm.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Uhh...yeah, Yusei..." she sighed as the pain dialed down, "I'm okay..." she leaned back against the concrete wall, Amber eyes facing out the high window...hand reaching out...out of her reach.
"...So this is the facility, huh?" she blinked quickly trying to change the subject...so as not to worry him, "This was... where my brother was taken...?"
"...Most likely..." sighed Yusei, watching the girl as her eyes distanced themselves to what little memories of her brother she actually had. It was so long ago...about 10 years now...
She closed her eyes and suddenly a flood of flash images rushed in.
I've had this happen before!
She thought to herself.
Every time my memories rush back into place...!
Only these weren't her memories...
She saw Kai.
What is this...?
xxxxx
"Rosie...Rosie..." he was panting weakly...
He looked exhausted...constantly calling out her nick name over and over...
"Urrgh...Let me OUT!" he roared, "LET ME OUT! LET ME OUT! LET ME OUT!" he was screaming...yelling...throwing himself all around the cell trying to find a way to break out.
"She's just a kid! She needs me!" he screamed, "She's not ready to be on her own! She's not strong enough...She has nothing and no one! I'M RESPONSIBLE FOR HER!" he screamed, "I'm...responsible..."
His body fell limp...shallow breathing...he was weak and malnorished...and tired.
Suddenly...something changed about him.
"...What?"
He was talking again...
To himself?
"Who are you? You...can help me?"
Whatever this was that Akarii was seeing...it filled her with chills.
"Yes...anything. Power...just give me power...to protect her...Yes...I'll give anything...even...my soul..."
It was here when everything started to fade to black. ...
Shadows were forming around him...

And Akarii was gasping for air.
"Akarii!" Yusei's voice broke through the darkness, ripping her back into reality, "Akarii, breathe!" he spoke with panic, holding her up right.
"Ahh...Yusei...?" She called to him, her vision readjusting to the present.
"Are you okay!?" he asked, "You look like you had panic attack..."
"I...I saw Kai..." she mustered...
"Kai?" the shocked voice from the door way startled them both as Jaime stood there with a look of realization, "I thought you looked familiar..." he said to her, "...Are you related to Kai Rhodes!?"
Akarii's eyes widened...but just as she was about to respond they were soon interrupted by the guards.
"Rhodes, Akarii." they called her by name, "...The Chief would like to see you..."
