Chapter Forty-Two

"The Chief!?" Jaime gasped.
"What does he want with her?" Asked Yusei with a firm gaze.
"I hate to tell you, Yusei..."Jaime whispered,"But it's never good...the last person who saw the Chief was Kai." he said softly,"...And he's never been seen again."
Yusei's eyes widened and Akarii let out a soft gasp.
"I'm afraid that's none of your business, scum!" the guard scoffed as he yanked Akarii up by the arm and she let out a pained yelp.
"Get your hands off her!" Yusei barked and threw himself at the guard to release her, only to find himself caught instead.
"He seems to have an interest in you too, punk!" he huffed while Yusei struggled.
"What!?"
"Come with me."
After being forcibly pushed and shoved they found themselves tossed carelessly to the floor at the feet of a rather large heavy set potato of a man.
"Akarii! Are you okay!?" Yusei asked, not caring about anything else at the current moment.
"Well well well.." he said with a heavy step,"It seems you're the talk of the trash~" the man who they presumed was the chief, scoffed and lifted the girl up by the chin.
"Don't touch her!" Yusei growled, though it clearly made no difference to this man how protective he acted.
"So you're the Rhodes brat." he scoffed,"Yeah, Rhodes...I remember meeting your brother..." he laughed and Akarii let out a startled gasp.
"What did you do to him..." she asked in a low muttered tone.
"What was that~?" the man cupped a hand over his ear acting as though he couldn't understand her even though she knew that he could.
"My brother!" she snapped,"What did you do to him!? Where is Kai!?"
"OOOOOH...right." he sighed,"Tragic really...he just wouldn't settle down and behave with the other garbage...so I...took care of him."
"You beast!" she growled and prepared to pounce, with no thought process at all about their massive difference in size and stature.
"Akarii STOP!" Yusei cried out catching her and holding her back before she could get a swing in.
She struggled ferociously against him while this man simply laughed in her face.
"My aren't you a fiesty little fire cracker..." He smirked as his lips curled into a disgusting smile,"I know how to take care of you too~"
"Don't even try it!" Yusei growled, shooting icy glares at the man who only seemed to be finding this amusing.
"Scum is scum no matter how you dress it up!" said the Chief,"Your brother was scum. You are scum. I'll treat you the same way!" he huffed,"Kai didn't have much spirit left...it was easy to break him."
Akarii shot glares of fire in her amber eyes just imagining the kind of hell this place must have put her 17 year old brother through...and what kind of man it turned him into in his years of lockdown and solitude.
"But you seem to have a little fire in you~" He smirked,"Tell you what...Because I'm such a nice guy~ I'll let you be my little slave for life~" he snickered,"What do you think, fire cracker~? It could be fun~"
"Disgusting!" Yusei growled as he held her behind him, standing protectively between Akarii and this man who otherwise seemed to go by "Chief"
"And You...Yusei Fudo." He huffed,"She's your little girlfriend is she?" he laughed,"You look like you're ready to bite my head off~" he laughed harder,"Yeah...there was some talk about you...it seems someone higher up thinks you might be hiding something."
Hiding something?
Akarii blinked and held her gaze on his arm.
Could he mean that mark Yusei mentioned before...?
At this moment that twinge of pain shot through her arm once more. This seemed to happen any time she thought of it.
She had no idea what it was...
"Very well!" he scoffed,"If you win our wager...I'll let the two of you go free~ What do you say?"
"I say bring it on Chief!" Yusei growled,"Anytime anywhere!"
The chief grinned with a crooked smile and laughed loudly as though he already won.
"Excellent~!"

The duel was played,albeit not fairly, with a gathering of refugee cards lended to Yusei as a deck.
It turns out every prisoner has a guilty pleasure.
However, even with the unwanted electro shock therapy, victory was Yusei's. Though the chief would disagree.
"NO! NO WAY!" the big man huffed," NOPE! This duel is off!"
"Say WHAT!?" Akarii huffed in her temper.
She wasn't the only one who felt a certain way about this.
"I'm the Chief around here!" he stated,"There's no way I could lose!"
"Considering that you cheated..." Akarii stated firmly,"You deserved to lose!" she huffed,"Besides that-What about your promise!?"
"Promise?" he blinked and shrugged nonchalantly,"What Promise? I made no such promise~"
"Say what!?" Yusei huffed and the rest of the remaining cellmates let out cries of disapproval.
"Hey, you lost little girl~" the chief smirked as he approached her,"Take her away to my...personal quarters~"
"You BASTARD!" Akarii huffed and struggled her way to fight against him.
"Akarii!" Yusei called out as he tried to jump in to rescue her but just as the guards grabbed him to pull him back, a certain authority startled the whole facility into submission.
"That's enough!" came a bellowing voice from above,"A Duel is a Duel, Chief, and you lost!"
"Wh-Who is that...?" Akarii whispered to Yusei, who didn't seem too comfortable in answering.
"That's Sector Security Director Goodwin..." he whispered back.
"I watched that duel from start to finish, and even with your cheating, you still lost completely." he stated,"Now stop acting like a disgrace!"
As Akarii blinked trying to comprehend the situation, a strong ringing came from within her and she started gasping from the pain in her head.
"Akarii!?" Yusei called to her, but her head began to fill with a strong, powerful, and unfamiliar voice.
The Power...
It growled.
The People Of The Stars...
She gasped as her stability began to familiarize itself again.
"Akarii!" Yusei called out,"Are you okay?"
"I..." she panted,"I think so...?"she sighed, as a burning sensation stung like and invisible wild fire on her arm...
What is that!?

Rex Goodwin walked out of the facility after having demanded the follow through of the deal that was made.
"To think that Rhodes's girl would wind up following her brother into such a place..." he said to himself,"Only unlike him...she'll be walking back out as an unconverted survivor..." he blinked, "I see...It seems some readjustments to the plan may need to be made..."
