Chapter Forty-Six

The alarms were blaring as they raced each other through the facility with trudge on their tail lights.

This isn't good...

Akarii thought to herself.

"He's ganging up fast, Akarii!" said Yusei.

This isn't good at all...

Akarii huffed.

"We'll have to take separate paths." she stated,"Go in the opposite direction...he won't be able to follow."

"You mean like a fork in the road?" Yusei asked.

"Yeah." she said,"And either one of us who gets unlucky enough to have him riding our asses...we'll just have to ride faster!"

"I guess we have no other plan." said Yusei,"I'll try to draw him to me...get yourself out of here!"

"Yeah like I'm gonna do that." she huffed,"I'm ride or die, you know that! Besides...this is WAY too much fun~" she grinned.

"You know, I would feel a lot better if you DIDN'T die!"

"Well then...I guess I better ride~" she smirked.

He rolled his eyes and cut transmission. Following through with their plan they both managed to escape, but the sirens blared loudly.

"Crap, he's caught up already!" she pouted,"I thought for sure we'd lose him with that tactic."

"It's too dangerous if we stick close together like this!" said Yusei,"We'll have to split up from here."

"Got it." she huffed.

Akarii wasn't too thrilled with that plan but she had to have faith that Yusei would unite with her again.

"Let's run!" he huffed as he rode off in one direction,"I'll be back soon!" he stated. "I promise!"

Akarii twitched at those words...

She knew it was the best option they had... heaved a heavy sigh, and rode off in his opposite.

You better come back soon, Yusei!

Please...

Days had passed and she hadn't heard from Yusei.

I haven't seen him since we split up...

She thought to herself as she tinkered with her Duel Runner in an old garage unit that Blister had lent her. Yusei was of course supposed to be here with her...but he was still MIA.

Maybe I shouldn't have let us split up...

She thought to herself with a heavy sigh.

She was getting irritated as well, since Yusei was better at this mechanics business than she was.

They messed up my runner good...

She huffed in irritation.

Her communication systems were down.

She couldn't transmit any signals back to Satellite.

Crow must be so worried...

She sighed.

I need to find some way to call him...

Suddenly a high pitched humming began to sound through her system and she was filled with a little hope once again.

"Crow? Crow do you read me?" She spoke into the receiver," This is The Rose Bullet transmitting to The Bullet Do you read me!?"

It's been days since Akarii left again...

Crow thought to himself.

I lost all communications with her and I haven't heard from her since...!

he gritted his teeth and threw a punch into the wall.

Dammit...I knew I shouldn'thave let her go...

He sighed as he looked into his trembling hands.

She was so close to me...what if this time I really do lose her for good!?

Suddenly a radio shriek humming came from his communication transmission and garbled words spoke from it, that slowly cleared.

"Crow? Crow do you read me?"

"Akarii!?" he gasped.

"I repeat this is the Red Rose Bullet requestiong transmission to The Black Bullet, CAN YOU HEAR ME!?"

"Yes! Yes I hear you!" Crow beamed as he made connection through the radio air waves in their communication systems,"This is The Black Bullet connecting to the Red Rose Bullet, you are connected! Transmission granted!"

"Oh thank god!" he could hear her heave a relieved sigh,"I thought I would never connect!"

"Akarii, thank goodness!" Crow sighed,"I'm so glad you contacted me I was beginning to think I would never hear from you!" he laughed happily,"It's been days! Weeks! Where have you been!?"

"It's quite a long story..." she stated through his radio way.

"Nevermind that were you able to make contact with Yusei?"

"Yes I was." she stated,"But not long after I lost contact with him again." she sighed,"I haven't heard from him since."

"I hope he's all right..." said Crow.

"Me too..." she sighed,"I think he's going to try to find Jack again..." she stated,"I need to find Jack too...preferably before Yusei does."

"I wouldn't hold my luck on Jack, Rosie." Crow blinked,"He's changed since you last saw him."

"So I've been told..." she stated,"But that's just a risk I am going to have to take."

"Look Akarii, Whatever it is you need to get from the City get it fast!" Crow huffed,"...And then come home..." he sighed, his voice cracking as he held the receiver in his trembling hand."...Home is where you belong..."

"...I know Crow..." she said softly,"Thank you for being so patient with me...I promise you, this time, I will come back."

"You better..." he stated,"Contact me whenever you can."

"Got it." she said firmly,"over and out."

Crow heaved a heavy sigh as the radio connection cut itself off and he replaced his receiver.

You better come home this time, Akarii...

Akarii heaved a heavy sigh of relief as she replaced her receiver.

I managed to get my systems running for now...

she sighed.

Still...I would feel so much better if Yusei were here to double check my handy work...

She blinked as she looked out into the alley.

Where are you, Yusei...?

Suddenly she felt a burning sensation in her arm and let out a pained cry.

That stings!

She hissed as she looked on her arm for the source but other than some odd redness that she had no idea how it got there...there was nothing more.

Was she reacting to something?

A bug bite maybe?

Suddenly a pulse resonated from within her and within her arm and she let out another pained cry.

"Wh-What...?" Akarii blinked as her eyes quivered from trying to withstand the pain. She heard what sounded like the faintest of whispers resonating from within her.

But what was even more odd about it, it seemed to be coming from her arm. Like it was trying to tell her something.

"...An...underground...Duel Arena...?"

She blinked.

Something doesn't feel right about this...
