I don't own Disney's The Owl House. I do, however own the OC known as Danielle Hopkins. Hope you all enjoy my story on this lovely show.
Chapter Five
It has been a full week since Danielle and Luz have been on the isles in the Demon Realm. A storm was brewing tonight as Danielle helped King set up a little lesson area as he wanted to teach her and Luz about demon kind. Unfortunately, King ended up somehow with a sock stuck to his snout at one point, which Luz was recording on her cell phone.
"And here we have the most fearsome creature in the world, the King of Demons," said Luz, watching King as she recorded him. "Facing his natural enemy, the ducky sock!"
"Where are you now, ducky sock?" shouted King, tearing the sock off and stomping on it, as Danielle giggled a little.
"So, why'd you call me and Danielle here again?" asked Luz, staring at King.
"Oh, yeah," said King, climbing atop a table. "Human Luz, Human Danielle, you two been so obsessed with witchcraft that you haven't learned anything about my kind."
"Will we be learning about your kind?" asked Danielle, lifting the cover of a book.
"Yup," replied King, staring at Danielle. "Also, I am the King of Demons."
"That's a title," said Danielle, looking at King. "I'm talking about your race in general."
"Er… well… I haven't seen any others like me. Anyway, prepare yourself for..." said King, tearing a tarp off the bulletin board and donning a beret. "Demons 101. Demons like me are grim tricksters of the twilight, creatures of sulfur and bone."
"And cute little paws," said Luz, zooming her camera in on King before Danielle leaned into her.
"Don't forget the cute little toe beans," said Danielle, a slight smile on her face.
"And cute little paws and… toe beans. True," said King, before holding up a pen he borrowed from Luz. "We live only to create chaos and misery. Our only weaknesses are purified water and passive-aggressive comments. Sometimes."
"Oh, you guys are sensitive," said Luz, still staring at King.
"Nothing wrong with that," said Danielle, intently listening.
"Even demons have inner demons," said King, before tearing off a picture to reveal another. "The most powerful demon of all is the Snaggleback. He's a…"
"Bad boy!" said Luz, playing around on her cell phone.
"You got to show me how to do that," said Danielle, staring at Luz's cell phone.
"Wait, you don't know how to do this," said Luz, before pumping her fist. "Yes! I…"
"Luz, Danielle, pay attention," said King, staring at the girls. "This information could save your life someday."
"Sorry King," said Danielle, turning back to face King.
"No, no. I am so paying attention. This is my paying attention face," said Luz, nodding. "Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm."
"Uh-oh," said King, hearing thunder and lightning. "Looks like it's gonna rain."
"I love the rain," said Luz, standing up and heading towards the front door.
"Hey, wait," said King, staring at Luz.
"Is there something different about the rain here?" asked Danielle, looking at King.
"Yes," replied King, standing next to Danielle at the front door.
"Well, at least a good book will get me through this," said Danielle, leaning against the doorframe.
"I always love feeling the first few drops in my hair," said Luz, bending down to talk to a flower. "I bet you do too, little buddy. What?"
"Oh my gosh!" said Danielle, seeing the flower wither. "Is the rain acid?"
"Boiling rain!" shouted Eda, running towards the Owl House. "Everybody inside now!"
"Huh?" said Luz, as Eda grabs her and hightails it back inside.
"Aah!" said Danielle, as Eda barreled into her and crashed into the living room. "Ow!"
"Phew! That was close," said Eda, before looking at the girls. "But the important thing is you didn't get hurt."
"Yep," said Luz, lying painfully on the floor before a cup hits her head. "Not hurt."
"Speak for yourself," said Danielle, taking a book off her. "That hurt. Almost thought that it was acid rain there. What about Hooty?"
"I agree," shouted Hooty, opening the front door. "It can still hurt me."
"Alright alright," said Eda, conjuring a barrier over herself and walking back out.
"So, barriers are set in place when this happens?" asked Danielle, watching Eda cast a spell before King placed a bandage on her and Luz. "Thanks King."
"Look, now we're boo-boo buddies," said King, before placing a bandage on his snout.
"Aaw," said Danielle, finding King's gesture cute.
"Oh, my gosh, I love you so much," said Luz, squealing before looking at Eda casting a spell. "A boiling rainstorm on the Boiling Isles. The weather here is so fun."
"Yeah, we don't have weather," said Eda, still casting the spell. "We have plagues, gorenados, shale hail, painbows."
"It's like a rainbow but looking at it turns you inside out," said King, explaining what a painbow is.
"Those are not fun," said Danielle, staring at Eda.
"So, until the boiling rain stops, no one is allowed outside tonight," said Eda, staring at the girls and King.
"Not a problem," said Danielle, looking at Eda.
"And if the rain doesn't get you, the Snaggleback will," said King, opening a book and showing the picture of the Snaggleback. "They wander the rain, feeding on boiled tourists."
"It better stay outside," said Danielle, staring at the picture. "I have a bat with its name written on it if it enters the house."
"Yikes," said Luz, backing away from Danielle.
"Well, whatever the case, this force field spell should protect the house from boiling rains and made-up demons," said Eda, staring at King.
"Hoot! Well, hurry it up with that force field," said Hooty, staring at Eda. "That rain is getting closer to my precious stucco."
"Yeah, yeah. I got it," said Eda, finishing the spell and casting it around the house.
"Wow! Someday I'd like to be as cool as Eda the Owl Lady," said Luz, watching Eda walk back to the house. "Magical, sassy, surprisingly foxy for her age. Hey, why do they call you the Owl Lady, anyway?"
"'Cause I'm so wise" said Eda, pointing at her head.
"'Cause she coughs up rat bones," said Hooty, looking at the girls.
"I think it's 'cause she gets distracted by shiny objects," said King, staring at Eda and the girls.
"Aw, shit, today's the…"
"Mija!"
"Sorry."
"It started off with one voice, now it's two," thought Danielle, mentally groaning.
"No, I don't," said Eda, before King started clicking the pen, making it light up. "It sparkles and shimmers. It shines and delights. I must have it for my nest..."
"You have a nest? I want a nest! Nest party!" said Luz, before helping Eda up with Danielle's help.
"You okay there?" asked Danielle, staring at Eda.
"Ugh," said Eda, tiredly. "That force field really took it out of me."
"Uh-oh. Moving a little slow. Age finally catching up to ya?" said King, screaming as Eda pulls the beret over his eyes. "Darkness!"
"This is perfect," said Luz, watching than following Eda. "Since we'll be stuck in the house all night, Eda won't have any excuse not to teach me… I mean us a spell."
"But don't you wanna finish our lesson?" asked King, staring at Luz. "I was gonna let you scratch a demon's tummy. Me!"
"Oh, uh, sorry, King," said Luz, turning around to face King. "But… magic."
"I didn't realize I hurt King there."
"Don't worry King," said Danielle, picking King up after seeing him sad. "I know how to multitask. And I'll make sure you get those scratchies."
"Okay," said King, really wanting Luz to listen as well.
"Now where do we start?" asked Danielle, before hearing Eda gasp.
"Sparkle thing," said Eda, staring at Luz's pen.
"Oh, this?" said Luz, holding her pen out before Danielle grabbed it. "Hey!"
"Seriously?" asked Danielle, before seeing Eda watching the pen intently as she moved the pen about before it was lunged at. "Are you part cat?"
"Nope," said Luz, grabbing the pen back. "Teach me one spell, and I'll give you your sparkle thing."
"Don't worry, King," said Danielle, sitting down next to King. "We'll get to your lesson."
"I hope so," said King, looking at the floor.
"If you want a witch's staff like mine, don't make me repeat myself," said Eda, gasping as she wakes herself up. "Witch's staffs have power embedded into them."
"Gimme!" said Luz, flexing her hands.
"Luz, control yourself," said Danielle, looking at Luz as she scratched King's belly.
"Yes," said King, enjoying the belly scratches. "This was part of our lesson. Petting a demon's tummy. Mine!"
"But before one is earned, every witch needs to know how to cast spells on their own. Now..." said Eda, creating a spell circle. "Tonight I will show you how to create... light."
"Beautiful," said Danielle, staring at the light spell.
"Yawn! Who needs another boring spell lesson when you could be learning all the fun ways a demon could kill you," said King, grabbing one of his drawings. "Look how teethy. Bite, bite."
"Be quiet," said Luz, staring at King then back to Eda. "I need to focus."
"Luz!" said Danielle, glaring at Luz.
"What?" said Luz, staring back at Danielle with a slight glare of her own. "I said I need to focus."
"Focus?" said Danielle, staring at Luz. "You are brushing aside King's lesson just to get a magic lesson from Eda. King's lesson are just as important as Eda's. You don't see me brushing aside King's lesson, now do you."
"Ugh," said Luz, covering her ears. "Stop harping on me, will ya!"
"If you would just listen…" said Danielle, only for Eda to put her staff between her and Luz.
"Enough!" said Eda, staring at the girls.
"She started it!" said Danielle and Luz, pointing at the other.
"Teenage girls…" said Eda, deeply sighing. "I have two teenage girls under my house."
"I'm going back to my magic lesson," said Luz, before facing Eda. "Now, you were saying."
"Ty mały…" said Danielle, turning away from Luz.
"Uh fine… now, humans think magic is made out of thin air, but that's stupid. Everything comes from something," said Eda, staring at the girls. "Let me ask you, you two. Where do you think magic comes from?"
"Uh, from the heart?" said Luz, looking at Eda.
"The heart and imagination," replied Danielle, as she pulled King into a cuddle. "Here, let me give you some more scratchies. Will that help?
"I guess so," replied King, slumping in Danielle's lap, sadly.
"Don't worry, you can still teach me and I'll pay attention," said Danielle, running her fingers through King's fur gently.
"I know," said King, leaning into the touch while slightly wagging his tail.
"Actually, you're both right on the first part," said Eda, taking a scroll out of her hair and showing the picture. "It comes from a sac of magic bile attached to a witch's heart."
"Oh, gross," said Luz, staring at the picture. "Can I keep that?"
"What about imagination?" asked Danielle, staring at Eda.
"That is a good answer," replied Eda, yawning before pointing at her head. "Got to know what you want your magic to be."
"There it is," said Danielle, liking what she heard.
"Now, everything depends on the spell circle," said Eda, making a big spell circle. "The bigger the circle, the more powerful the spell."
"But how can I, little ol' Luz, do magic if I don't have a magic bile... sac?" asked Luz, staring at Eda.
"You know, I'm not actually sure," said Eda, wondering herself.
"What?" said Luz, staring at Eda.
"I know witches did magic differently in the past, but I never bothered to figure out how," said Eda, snorting before looking at the girls. "Don't worry. You'll figure it out. Now, I need to lie down."
"Okay," said Danielle, seeing Eda try to fall asleep.
"That's it? Wait! I need to see you do the circle thingy again. I'll record it on my phone this time," said Luz, pulling out her cell phone. "Smile! You're on camera. One more spell won't kill you."
"Luz, let Eda sleep," said Danielle, staring at Luz. "It's not like she can't… aah!"
"That shut her up," thought Luz, flashing the camera on Danielle.
"Fine. Now, you see, the... spell circle is really key because…" said Eda, drawing a spell circle before falling down. "Ooh, boy."
"Eda!" said Danielle, rolling Eda over onto her back. "Now look what you done. You should have just let her go to bed."
"Oh, my gosh. My obsession with spells knocked out Eda," said Luz, a little frantic. "I'm a monster."
"You're not a monster," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "Just someone that wants to learn magic. You just got to…"
"Ugh, you can be so boring sometimes," said Luz, leaning backwards on to the floor.
"Bap! Yep. She's out," said King, slapping Eda's face. "Bap! Just making sure."
"Let's get Eda up to her room then we can continue King's lesson," said Danielle, looking at Luz and King.
"We could just… right right, her room," said Luz, seeing Danielle glare at her before lifting Eda up some. "Here we go."
"Great, I get the caboose end," said Danielle, lifting Eda's legs up as Luz laughed a little. "King, that doesn't help."
"Hehe," said King, giggling as he climbed on top of Eda.
Positioning Eda as best they could while King sat on her, Danielle and Luz head on up to Eda's room. Wasn't easy as at times, Luz would lose her hold somewhat on Eda. Finally reaching Eda's room, Danielle and Luz position Eda in her bed before heading back downstairs.
"Alright then," said Danielle, grabbing some of the books. "Where do we start King? King?"
"…" said King, staring at Luz.
"I get it," said Danielle, leaning down and placing a hand on his back. "You want Luz to learn to."
"Exactly," said King, as he grabbed some of his drawings.
"This is all she does," said Luz, trying to draw a spell circle before grabbing her cell phone. "Why you gotta be so cryptic, Owl Lady?"
"Now, you see, the spell circle is really..." said Eda, on the recording.
"Hey, you know what's really cryptish? Let me tell you about the most spine-chilling demon," said King, placing his notepad in front of Luz. "Smoochy-pie the Sweetie Baby! He's... Well, he's a lot more threatening than his name implies."
"Not now, King. I want to figure out this spell," said Luz, looking from King to her cell phone. "But if I don't have a magic sac, what's the point? I'll just be twirling my fingers around un-magically forever. Hey!"
"Look, you recorded Eda's little lesson on magic now it's time for…" said Danielle, holding Luz's cell phone as she tried to grab it back.
"Give it back!" said Luz, trying to wrestle her cell phone back as she and Danielle tumbled to the floor.
"No! You need to…" said Danielle, only to see and hear King sigh and looking away. "King… are you okay?"
"Why do you want to learn magic so bad, anyway?" asked King, staring at Luz.
"I was a nobody back home," replied Luz, getting into a sitting position. "But becoming a witch is my chance to be someone. Do you know what it's like to have no one take you seriously?"
"Danielle," said King, staring at Danielle.
"Uh well, look I'm glad you're helping me learn about demons and such as that will help me search for my mom," said Danielle, sitting down and leaning against the couch. "But if there is something that requires magic down the road then I have to learn it."
"If I help you learn that spell, could we finish our lesson?" asked King, staring at the girls.
"Are you sure?" asked Danielle, looking at King. "I can put it off till tomorrow."
"Positive," replied King, looking at Danielle.
"Oh, yes, yes," said Luz, putting her cell phone away. "You can teach me about demons all week if you help me learn this spell."
"You better keep your promise," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "I'll make sure of it."
"Well, she said witches used to do magic differently, so there has to be a way, right?" said King, drawing before showing the girls. "And I have a theory. Every day I notice Eda sneaking drinks of this special elixir, see? Then she always gets a boost of energy, see? I think that's where she gets her powers. And I know where to get some."
"A magic booster, probably," thought Danielle, looking at the picture.
"Really?" said Luz, staring at King.
"Sí," replied King, looking at Luz.
"Thank you so much," said Luz, pulling King into a hug. "You're a prince."
"King," said King, staring at Luz. "I'm King."
"Slow down," said Danielle, following King down the hallway. "The elixir is not going anywhere."
"Wait in the kitchen, please," said King, peeking from the stairwell.
"Okay," said Danielle, heading toward the kitchen and sitting at the table. "Wonder if I can learn to make this elixir."
"Soooo…" said Luz, sitting down at the table. "What's your deal?"
"What are you talking about?" asked Danielle, looking at Luz.
"Do you not see it?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle. "To me, you act like an uppity rich person."
"Look, I'm sorry. Things just haven't been right since mom left," said Danielle, sitting down. "I've had to deal with my Uncle Ken dying months later, almost losing Skye, a custody battle between dad and grampa, being sent to St. Joan of Arc Catholic School…"
"St. Joan of Arc?!" said Luz, shocked. "I heard they still use rulers as discipline and other stuff."
"Hey, it hurts," said Danielle, rubbing her hands. "That school didn't really change much."
"Why was there a custody battle between your dad and grampa?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Grampa thought dad wasn't taking care of me properly," replied Danielle, looking outside. "I lived with my grandparents for almost a full year and attended that school… and I hated it. The school, that is."
"…" said Luz, listening to Danielle.
"Grampa had his rules that I had to follow. Very set in his ways," said Danielle, looking at her hands. "Girls wears dresses and skirts, not pants and shorts. Girls don't play baseball or hockey, take up ballet. No Japanese cartoons or the likes, stick with American shows. No food that isn't American or European, all that other stuff is no good. You can see where I'm going at."
"And your grandma?" asked Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Gramma made it bearable," replied Danielle, sighing. "Same thing with Daisy."
"Daisy?" said Luz, confused.
"A sable rough collie," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "Everyone in my family has a dog besides me and dad. We have a cat named Skye."
"What kind of cat?" asked Luz, curious.
"A 10-year-old Balinese," replied Danielle, looking at Luz. "Found her and her siblings back one day after getting off the school bus alongside another litter of kittens. That was an interesting experience."
"Bet it was," said Luz, before seeing King in the doorway. "Oh, hey King."
"Didn't want to interrupt your little talk there," said King, walking over with an elixir. "But I got the elixir."
"Oo baby, come to mama," said Luz, eyeing the elixir.
"Pfft," said Danielle, seeing Luz put a bib on.
"Wow. I can't believe I'm about to learn magic. Real magic. This is historic," said Luz, about to drink the elixir only to lose hold of it due to a loud thunderclap. "Golden elixir. Gone! This is awful."
"Who even needs a light spell when we have tons of lamps?" said King, only for the lights to go out. "Hooty controls the house lights. He probably just fell asleep."
"Hoot! Hoot!" shouted Hooty, from the living room.
"Hooty!" shouted Danielle, running towards the living room with Luz and King. "What is that?"
"I don't know," replied King, staring at the growling beast before them as it leaves deep scratch marks on Hooty before it flees. "I don't recognize it."
"Hooty! Are you in there?" asked Luz, tapping Hooty's beak before checking his eyes. "Whatever did this escaped into the rain. What could survive that?"
"Hooty! Oh, these look bad," said Danielle, touching the scratch marks. "Whatever demon that was, escaped into the rain. Are there demons that are immune to boiling rain?"
"No," replied King, staring up at Danielle and Luz. "Oh, my gosh. The Snaggleback! It feeds during the rains. It must have stumbled across our house and seen us inside."
"This has become a nightmare," said Danielle, hearing the beast howl before going outside and seeing it jump through an upper floor window.
"This is terrifying," said Luz, before looking at King. "So why do you look so happy?"
"Because this could be a lesson," replied King, staring at Danielle and Luz. "This would be a great way for you two to see a wild demon up close and personal."
"You want to go toward those creepy sounds?" said Luz, looking at King. "No way!"
"What if Eda gets eaten?" asked King, looking at Luz. "She's upstairs and defenseless because you knocked her out."
"Right then," said Danielle, inhaling deeply before staring at Luz and King. "But we're not going in unprepared. Armor up, you two. We're going to save Eda."
Slowly creeping back into the Owl House, the girls and King search a nearby closet. Grabbing some pillows, the girls duck tapes them around King and themselves. Grabbing a bat that was in the closet as well while Luz grabs a hockey stick, Danielle finds some purple lipstick only to see Luz using bandages on herself. Heading on up, the girls and King enter Eda's room and sees it's in disarray with Eda missing.
"Oh, my gosh," said Luz, running over to Eda's bed. "Eda!"
"She got snaggle-backed," said King, looking at Eda's bed.
"King! You're the demon expert. We need your help," said Danielle, holding one of the pillows.
"I'll go get my demon book," said King, about to leave only for Danielle to grab his arm. "Weh?"
"You're not going out there by yourself," said Danielle, looking at King. "I wouldn't be able to live with myself if you got hurt or eaten."
"Okay," said King, looking at Danielle.
"Come one Luz," said Danielle, grabbing Luz's arm. "You're coming too."
Leaving Eda's room, the girls and King venture down the hallway. At one point, Luz trips and steps on a slip of paper without noticing it. Hearing rustling in a nearby storage closet, Danielle kicks it open and brandishes her bat. A squeal was heard behind some jackets which Danielle slowly parts with her bat.
"Snaggleback?" said King, recognizing the demon. "Wow. You are a lot shorter in person."
"I don't think Snaggleback took Eda," said Danielle, leaning towards Luz. "He's much too short."
"You're right," said Luz, agreeing with Danielle.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," said Snaggleback, stammering. "I-I just needed a place to hide from the rains."
"Then why did you break down our door and take…" said King, only for Danielle to bend down and touch his shoulder.
"It wasn't Snaggleback here," said Danielle, looking at King. "It's something else."
"Then what…" said King, only to hear a crash and a shadowy hand to grab Snaggleback from the ceiling.
"Oh, no! A twist!" shouted Snaggleback, being pulled towards the ceiling.
"Snaggleback!" shouted Danielle, grabbing Snaggleback's hands and pulling him free. "I got'cha!"
"Thank you!" shouted Snaggleback, nuzzling into Danielle.
"Oh, my," said King, seeing the door open and the beast growling outside it. "Stay back. Hey, hey. I am the king of demons, okay? And as such, I demand…"
"I don't think it cares," said Danielle, throwing an exploding potion at the beast then hightailing it out of the storage closet with Luz, King and Snaggleback.
"Run! Run! Run!" said Luz, scared.
"Aaah!" shouted Snaggleback, being grabbed by the beast.
"Snaggleback!" shouted Danielle, grabbing Snaggleback's hands again. "Let him go!"
"Yeah, I don't think Eda will."
"Eda?!" said Danielle, confused as she talked out loud. "What you talking about?" "Huh?" said Luz, staring at Daniell, confused.
"Thanks… but I don't think it's going to let go this time," said Snaggleback, looking at Danielle.
"No," said Danielle, looking at Snaggleback while King clung to her leg. "No one gets left behind!"
"Good bye," said Snaggleback, letting go of Danielle's hands and being taken away down the hall.
"Noo!" shouted Danielle, tears in her eyes.
"Come on!" said Luz, pulling Danielle along while holding King as they head back to Eda's room.
"No no-no-no," said Danielle, slumping down on the floor. "Snaggleback."
"Danielle," said Luz, seeing Danielle in such a state.
"What's that?" asked King, seeing the piece of paper on Luz's shoe. ""Keeps the curse at bay." "An elixir a day, keeps the curse at bay.""
"Curse?" said Danielle, looking at King.
"Curse?" said Luz, looking at King. "Wait, what are you trying to say?"
"I was wrong the whole time. That's no Snaggleback," said King, looking at the girls. "That creature is…"
"Eda?" said Luz, seeing the beast bust in and recognizing the face.
"Aw shit," said Danielle, inching away from the beast. "That's what the voice meant."
Eda snarls and stalks closer, raising a claw to swipe at them. The girls screams and hold each other. Their cell phones falls out of their pockets which causes the camera to go off when it hits the floor. The flash blinds Eda, making her scream. The girls takes the distraction to grab King and hide on the balcony. Eda screams, and it echoes loudly. She stalks the room, sniffing. The girls have their hands over each other's mouth while King has his on his head. Eda seems to smell them, growling and sniffing closer to them. Luz grabs a nearby can and throws it. Eda growls at the sound and chases it.
"Oh, man. Did you see her eyes? They were like…" said Luz, snarling. "What happened to her?"
"Has this happened before?" asked Danielle, staring at King.
"Yes, but she always keeps it in control. The elixir I gave you doesn't give Eda powers. It prevents her from turning into that thing," replied King, pointing in the direction Eda went while looking at Danielle and Luz. "She's turned into a nightmare and it's all my fault. I'm so sorry, you two. I-I just wanted our lesson to continue and I forgot that Eda turns into such a creature. I don't have many friends, and no one even pays that much attention to me. I thought maybe if I taught you, finally someone would care about creatures like me."
"Well..." said Luz, taking out her pen. "Let's finish the lesson."
"Good idea," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "Eda's turned into some kind of demon, and we need to save her. So, who knows more about demons than the best teacher in the world?"
"Thanks you two," said King, grabbing the pen then hugging the girls before grabbing some leaves on drawing on them. "Let's see. She was bigger, covered in feathers, and had giant black eyes. Demons with black eyes are usually sensitive to light."
"Well, her beast form looks owl-ish," said Danielle, listening to King. "That does make sense."
"That's it. Light!" said King, pointing at Luz's cellphone. "Luz, use your human wonder rectangle."
"I can't," said Luz, grabbing her cell phone. "My camera's all blasted."
"Mine's not," said Danielle, grabbing her cell phone. "Great, the charge is dead."
"Then... what about that light spell?" asked King, thinking back to the spell.
"You saw me. I can't draw circles in the air," replied Luz, looking at her cell phone. "I'm not like Eda."
"...spell circle is really key..." said Eda, on the recording before it glitched.
"There's a pattern in the spell circle," said Luz, looking at the pattern.
"It looks just like the constellation that day," said Danielle, looking at the pattern.
"Really?" asked Luz, staring at Danielle.
"What? Where?" asked King, staring at Luz's cell phone.
"It looks like this. Here," said Luz, grabbing some leaves and handing one to Danielle before drawing it and tapping it. "There."
"Oh, my goodness," said Danielle, staring at the orb of light in front of her and Luz.
"It's beautiful," said Luz, staring at the orb of light. "Oh, my gosh. I just did magic. We just did magic! We just did magic!"
"Yes, we did!" said Danielle, excited. "Whoo-hoo!"
"We're not going to stop anything with something that small," said King, before hearing distant screeching and cowering in the girls arms. "What do we do now?"
"The bigger the spell circle, the bigger the spell," said Danielle, remembering Eda's lesson. "I'm not going to like this part but we're going to have to part for a bit."
"I'm listening," said King and Luz, staring at Danielle.
After telling King and Luz how the plan will go, the girls and King quietly leave Eda's room. Stopping at his room for a split second, King grabs a couple of crayons and gives it to the girls while Luz gives him her pen. Coming upon the end of a certain hall, the girls starts drawing the pattern on the wall before nodding to King to start his part. Quietly leaving the girls to their work, King heads towards the living and spots Eda sniffing a book.
"Oh, what lovely thing do we have here? It's just so dang shiny," said King, clicking the pen and gaining Eda's attention. "Oh, my. Oh, dear."
Eda stares at the pen's light, cooing. She screeches and lunges for it. King runs as Eda follows him. King ducks down a hallway as Eda slides on a pile of books and papers before crashing into a wall, and gasps when the girls tosses a blanket over her head. The girls finishes drawing the pattern on the wall before slapping it to activate. Blinding light is produced making Eda scream. Seeing Eda transform back with very little of the beast still out, the girls carry Eda back upstairs to her room. King meanwhile, goes to the kitchen and grabs a very long straw before heading back up to Eda's room. Seeing Danielle pouring some of the elixir that she found into Eda's mouth, King hands over the straw. Placing the straw in the elixir and placing it in Eda's mouth while leaving the elixir on the floor, the girls takes out a notepad and starts drawing the pattern over and over, activating each one and leaving the room covered in small floating spheres of light. Eda wakes up not long later, gasping before drinking more of the elixir and the rest of the beast parts vanishing.
"W-What happened? Oh, I have the worst headache. And my mouth tastes like roadkill," said Eda, gagging and regurgitating a giant owl pellet which breaks revealing Snaggleback.
"I'm just gonna... lie here for a minute," said Snaggleback, not wanting to move after what happened to him.
"Hmm? I was looking for that," said Eda, grabbing the elixir on the floor.
"Actually, we found an extra one in your closet," said King, walking over to Eda.
"King? King! You stole my elixir?" said Eda, pointing at King. "I ought to break every bone in your…"
"Shh!" said King, whispering while pointing towards Danielle and Luz. "Over there."
"Wow," said Eda, seeing the many floating spheres of light around Danielle and Luz as they activate another one. "How are they doing that?"
"I don't know, but they did it all on their own," said King, staring at the lights then Eda. "Hey, I, uh, kind of messed a bunch of things up back there. And I just wanted to say I'm sorry."
"Well, you better be. I got a long list of disgusting chores with your name on it. But it's not entirely your fault," said Eda, as Danielle and Luz walks over with a sphere of light in their hands and showing Eda. "I haven't been completely honest with you guys. When I was younger, I was cursed. I don't know exactly how it happened, all I know is that if I don't take my elixir... Well, that's why people call me the Owl Lady. No one likes having a curse, but if you take the right steps, it's manageable."
"Whoa," said Luz, staring at Eda.
"Well, if it's been placed on you, there should be a way to remove it," said Danielle, sitting down on the nest. "But if it's been with you for a long time, it may be too entwined with your being and removing it could cause your death."
"Huh… never thought of that," said Eda, staring at the girls. "Well, it's all under control, and as long as no one steals my elixir… King… then I'm fine. But, hey, look at this. Humans doing magic. Good on you, you two."
"We had some encouragement from a great teacher," said Luz, staring at King.
"Oh, you," said King, smiling.
"I even figured out a variant already," said Danielle, showing the original than the variant. "I placed an outer circle around it."
"Wow," said King, looking at the pattern. "Already?"
"Yup," replied Danielle, petting King. "Heck, you two can learn it too. As a backup, in case something happens where you can't use magic or a start to learning magic."
"Yes!" said King, excited. "My first step to becoming all powerful again."
"You make a good point there," said Eda, tapping the pattern and activating it. "It has its uses."
"Yes! An early start would be good should Belos try to petrify Eda again."
"What?!" shouted Danielle, startling everyone. "Uh…"
"What was that about?" asked Eda, looking at Danielle.
"Might as well," replied Danielle, looking at Eda. "I've been hearing a voice in my head since I got here. Strangely it sounds like a slightly mature Luz."
"Hey," said Luz, staring at Danielle.
"And someone else," said Danielle, gripping Eda's bed. "So, there is basically two voices in my head."
"Maybe coming through the Portal Door did something to you," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Wait, if that's the case, then why not me yet?"
"Who knows?" said King, staring at Luz.
"What did it say that it startled you?" asked Eda, looking at Danielle.
"Belos petrifying you," replied Danielle, looking at Eda.
"This is not good," said Eda, concerned. "Try and get as much info from that voice as much as you can."
"Uuuh… … Byeeeeeeeeee!"
"Sounds like I won't for a while," said Danielle, sighing. "I think it went away for a bit."
"Dang," said Eda, snapping her fingers.
"Hey, hey! Is anyone there?" shouted Hooty, gaining everyone's attention after regaining consciousness. "Hello? Hoot? I'm on the floor. It's cold!"
"That voice," said King, annoyed and walking towards the door. "That horrific voice!"
"We'll take care of him. You stay in bed," said Luz, picking up Snaggleback. "Come on, you goopy fella. We'll set you free now."
"Ow, ow, ow," said Snaggleback, as they left the room. "I think my tail was digested."
As the girls and King left her room, Eda slumps back in her bed and drifts off to sleep. In her dream, she ends up seeing her old bedroom door from when she was a kid still living with her parents.
"No, not this memory again," said Eda, as the door opens with a wavering shadow in it. "You! You're the one who cursed me, aren't you? Who are you? Who…"
A squeak was heard. Turning around, Eda sees a French door in front of her. Though by looking at it, neither door matched the other. The right door had some snake designs that looked like it shifted into different animals with a stained glass depicting the Light Glyph. The left side however, was a little more ornate. Celestial patterns adorned it which glowed quite nicely. And just like the other door, a stained glass that depicted the Light Glyph was on it.
"What the…" said Eda, about to open it only to wake up gasping. "Something is going on and I don't like it."

(Set the prior night)
"Why are you guys looking at me like that?" asked Danielle, cutting her pizza slice.
"You're using a fork and knife to eat a pizza," replied Eda, staring at Danielle as she bit into her slice.
"So," said Danielle, looking at everyone.
"You can eat it like this you know," said Luz, biting into her slice. "Mmm, so good."
"I know that. I was just…" said Danielle, sighing before placing the fork and knife down and grabbing her pizza slice before being stared at again. "What is it now?"
"You're holding it backwards," replied King, staring at Danielle.
"The crust is my least favorite part of the pizza unless its cheese stuff," said Danielle, biting into the crust. "So, it goes first… mmm, King, let go off my face."
"Cheese stuff?" said King, looking at Danielle. "As in there is cheese in the crust?"
"Exactly," said Danielle, getting King to let her go. "It's not that hard."
"Teach me," said King, wagging his tail.

(Set this night)
"Aah! King! No!" said Danielle, as she tried to dry King off after a bath. "Now I'm wet."
"Ha!" said Luz, drying off Snaggleback with ease. "I got the easy one."
"You get him on the next one," said Danielle, finally grabbing King with a towel. "Got'cha, you little furry!"
"No, you don't," said King, squirming out of Danielle's hold.
"King, get back here!" shouted Danielle, running after King out of the bathroom. "King!"
Owl Pellet #11
(Set after King's bath)
"Ah, know that that is over," said Danielle, entering the bathroom and stripping down. "Time for my shower."
"Eep!" squeaked Luz, letting herself be known.
"Luz!" said Danielle, shocked as she sees Luz, who was bare as well. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I'll just…"
"Okay, now that is just unfair," said Luz, staring at Danielle's body.
