This is a work in progress. I normally don't post before I have a story fully drafted, but I was curious about the response to this idea. It probably has been done, but this is my take on the whole newly discovered child storyline. When Sean told Frank about the DNA hit to a cousin and said Erin or Jamie had a child, I figured why not Jamie? Although this one is not going via the ancestry site either.

Sergeant Jameson Reagan mindlessly played with the gold band around his left ring finger as he sat in his office reading through the report in his right hand. Even after one year of marriage, the ring sometimes still felt foreign to him. Funny enough, whenever he ever took it off to work on his beloved Chevelle or go a few rounds with the punching bag, he felt decidedly naked without it. One thing was for sure, he was meant for married life. His wife and former work partner, Eddie Janko, was his soulmate and he would always want her by his side.

He had to shake his head sometimes when he thought about the fact that he could have had this years ago when they both first began to have feelings for each other. Instead, they buried those feelings, preferring not to mess with a great work partnership. Although, maybe it was best that it worked out that way. The friendship and trust they built through the job went a long way to solidifying the deep connection they had now.

Jamie glanced at his watch and stood, gathering the files he needed to start roll call in the next five minutes. He'd just turned to head out of his office when his wife suddenly appeared in the doorway, looking like she was ready to clock out at the end of a very long tour. That was the only issue he had with their life right now - their opposite schedules. Eddie was working the night shift as a result of getting moved off his squad after their nuptials while Jamie remained on the day shift. It was either that or one of them getting transferred to a different precinct all together. It was hard, they were like ships passing through the night, but they were handling it, all for the chance to work out of the same house. Yet he longed to have her next to him in bed at night. Somehow, someway, he'd find a solution, he was working on it. Until then, this was their life.

"Hey!" Jamie smiled.

"Hi," she replied with a tired smile of her own.

"How was tour?"

Eddie leaned up against a file cabinet and let out a long sigh. "Long. What is up with people? They were a little more cray cray out there last night."

"Full moon? Maybe that mercury retrograde thing you mentioned once?" Jamie hypothesized with a playful expression.

"Whatever it is, it needs to stop," she grinned.

Jamie smiled wishing he could kiss her. "I left you a breakfast burrito in the fridge," he offered instead.

Eddie placed her hands over her heart and batted her lashes. "You know the way to my heart, Reagan."

"And it almost always involves bacon. I know. Go home, get some rest," he said and walked by her, close enough to let his hand subtly caress the side of her arm.

"I will. Have a good tour," she wished him.

"That's the plan. I'll see you later. And no offers to pick up Witten, okay? I got plans for the time we actually get to be home together," he whispered with a wiggle of his brows.

"Don't tease a girl, Reagan, 'cause like you say, talk is cheap. But I'll be waiting," she laughed.

"Get outta here," he laughed.

"Bye," Eddie waved and headed to the locker room.

Jamie smiled and shook his head, clearing his head of any inappropriate thoughts of his beautiful wife before going in to deal with a room full of beat cops.

Something was definitely going on with people, like Eddie reported earlier. Maybe it was the early spring weather sending people out in mass to act out after being cooped up all winter? Who knew, but Jamie had gone out on patrol with one of his rookies and had encountered the same nuttiness.

He was working on the paperwork for their felony collar and was now also tasked with manning the desk for the remaining two hours of tour. His head bobbed up and down as he acknowledged the passing officers while putting the final touches on his report. Jamie paused from signing his name when someone on the other side of his desk cleared their throat. He frowned when he looked up, only to find a visitor who barely cleared the edge of the desk.

The boy of nine or ten, Jamie guessed, looked up over the top of the desk with big hazel eyes and neatly styled sandy brown hair. Jamie leaned over the desk to get a full view of his face with a friendly smile stretched across his own. Funny, the kid was a ringer for how he looked at that age. "Can I help you?"

"I'm looking for Jameson Reagan," the boy said.

Jamie's eyebrows shot up into his brow in surprise. "Thats me, Sergeant Reagan," he said while pointing to his nameplate. "What can I do for you? What's your name?" he asked and looked around the desk for an accompanying adult. No one else was around. "Are you here alone?"

"Yes," the child responded with a bob of his head.

Jamie dropped his report and walked around the desk. He stood in front of the boy who was dressed in a private school uniform and bearing a large colorful superhero backpack. He stooped down to the boy's eye level, worried they had a lost child in their midst, but he remained confused about why he would ask for him. "What's your name?"

"James," he responded.

"Nice to meet you, James," Jamie said and extended his hand to shake the boy's smaller one. He was impressed by the firm grip he gave in return. "But what's your full name?"

"James Reagan Davenport. I think you're my dad."

I assume most can guess how this all happened? :)

Edit made-Thanks to the reviewer who corrected my math between seasons 1 and 10 for the age of the kid.
