Kakashi couldn't sleep.
It wasn't the sound of the hard falling rain pit-pattering off of the slate tiles covering the roof of his small apartment. It wasn't the low hum of drunken laughter coming from the two bars down the street from his domicile, either. No, the same thing keeping Kakashi up tonight was the same thing that had been keeping him up for the last two months.
He rubbed his eye wearily and turned his gaze out towards the village he'd spent the better part of his life defending. It was a moonless night, with only the colored paper lanterns hanging along the muddy dirt streets illuminating the way home for those last few boisterous patrons taking heed of the last call that had most certainly been established by now.
The tatami mat shifted next to him, and he felt a soft tuft of long hair drape across his arm as its owner rolled over so that the two were now face to face, a warm, slow breath exhaling over his exposed left pec. He turned his eye upon the sleeping form next to him, and let out a small sigh as he slowly untangled their bodies, expertly maneuvering himself out of bed and stealthily making his way towards the kitchen.
She was why he had been losing sleep.
It wasn't that he was uncomfortable sharing a bed with another person. He'd shared more than one bed with either Sasuke or Naruto on many of their early missions, and at his seasoned age of 31, he'd slept next to - and with - his fair share of women, and he'd never lost a wink of sleep lying next to any of them. It was just this particular kunoichi that seemed to keep him restless.
He looked up at the clock hanging on the wall above the sink. 3:26 AM. Yeah, he wasn't getting any more sleep tonight. He sighed, grabbing a small apple out of a bowl on the counter before he quietly made his way back to the doorway of his bedroom. He stopped and leaned against the door frame, taking a bite of the fruit in his hand as he allowed his eye to roam over the woman sleeping peacefully in his bed.
If the moon had been in the sky tonight, it would have set those bare, alabaster legs of hers alight with a heavenly glow, he mused to himself, taking another slow bite out of the crunchy apple before letting his eyes drift up her body. His pale blue sheet was a sweaty mess, damp with both sweat and the heavy humidity from the torrential downpour outside. She had it scrunched up at her waist, slithering down her hip and back across, keeping those muscular thighs of hers hidden from view. Her slim midriff was exposed to just above her belly button, where a deep pink shirt was pulled up in an effort to cool its wearer off in the heat of the night. His breath hitched just a bit in his covered throat as she shifted once more, tossing one of those legs that just went on and on forever over the edge of the tatami, her other leg splayed behind her in a position that would make an acrobat proud. The silver-haired shinobi shifted on his bare feet, looking next towards her upper half. Her shirt kept her modestly covered at the chest, though the top two buttons had come undone in her sleep, leaving just a hint of the cleavage hidden beneath exposed to his lone charcoal-colored eye.
She shifted in her sleep again, tossing her head back into the pillow so that her neck was left completely displayed to his eye, which drank in every detail. Her throat was so pale and so small, he thought to himself. So small, but quite capable of thundering volume when angered or impassioned. There were a few small, barely-there scars, though nothing that could mar her appearance in his mind. His grey eye lazily drifted up to her face.
She had the face of an angel in his humble opinion, with heavily lidded eyes and her mouth parted in a small O shape as she breathed softly in her blissful sleep. Her right arm was tossed up over her forehead, her slender fingers pushing the hair back, exposing to him the part of herself she was most self-conscious of. Her left arm was stretched across where he had been lying just a few moments ago, her beautiful pink hair covering her shoulder as a small snore escaped her mouth.
It had been two months since Sasuke had abandoned the village, and two months since he'd stopped sleeping at night to allow Sakura a respite in the torment she had been enduring. He didn't question why she had felt so at ease coming to him that first night, her wide green eyes watery as she asked him if she could spend the night with him.
"I just can't sleep at my house, Sensei. Mom and Dad are both gone, and I...I can't be alone right now. Please?" She had asked him, turning those watery eyes into a puppy dog pout that not even the strongest shinobi alive could have denied. And he was far from that, he mused at himself as he took a last bite of the sweet fruit before turning and heading towards his bathroom, sliding the door shut behind himself.
He tossed the apple core into the small waste bin sitting beside his toilet before he turned the water on, giving it a minute or so to warm up before checking the water temperature with his hand.. A small sigh of relief escaped his masked lips as his overheated skin was soothed by the cool water spraying down. He turned his face towards the door, checking to make sure it was still closed out of habit before he quickly stripped everything but his trademark mask off, groaning quietly as he stepped into the shower with his back to the spigot.
He stood there immobile for a few moments, enjoying the slight sharpness of the water pressure hitting his shoulder blades and his spine. Before, he had never really taken the time to enjoy such a simple frivolity. He had always been too busy with one mission after another, or trying to keep his pupils from killing one another, or trying to keep Sasuke's curse mark from growing, or - so many or's.
Now, though, with all of his nights freed up, he had a lot of time on his hands to just enjoy things. He dipped his head briefly under the water, letting it splash down onto the gravity-defying spiked locks, the water weighing some of it down enough to slouch down over his face. He peeked out of the shower once more, ensuring that Sakura was still asleep before he pulled the mask down long enough to give his face a good wash and remove the five o'clock shadow that salted the lower half of his face.
He reached for his soap and let his mind wander once more as he started washing away the night's pungent, salty smell from his body. He didn't allow himself to think about the young kunoichi sleeping in his bed. He instead went over his schedule for the day looming ahead of him. At six, he needed to be in Tsunade's office for a meeting, and he'd promised a sparring match with Gai after he was done with that tedious task.. After that would be his morning stop by the cemetery, followed by -
A loud clap of thunder followed immediately by a loud shriek pulled him from his thoughts, and he immediately exited the shower, pulling a towel around himself before sliding the door open. No sooner had he done that when Sakura threw her arms around his wet chest, pulling herself close to him.
"It's just a thunderstorm," he calmed her, one hand going to her soft hair while his other arm draped itself over her shoulders. "It'll pass soon enough. Every storm does."
"I saw him, Sensei," she choked out through her tears, burying her face against his chest. The fact that he was soaking wet and covered only by a towel didn't seem to cross her mind, though Kakashi himself was quite aware of his precarious state of undress. He couldn't help but pull her closer as she continued, "H-He was covered in blood, and h-he had a snake c-coming out of his mouth!"
These nightmares had been what had pulled her into his bed two months ago, and they seemed to get worse and worse the more time passed that Sasuke wasn't safe in Konoha. He frowned, pecking the top of her head affectionately.
"It was just a nightmare, Sakura. It's okay now," he crooned gently, though he knew it was a lie. Nothing was okay now, and they both knew it. But maybe, he prayed to Kami, maybe for just the rest of the night, he could convince her that it was.
She sniffled, reaching a balled hand up to her face, wiping away a mixture of water and salty tears. Little things like that reminded him of those early days, when she'd been so young and so naive to the world and its pain. Looking at her now, Kakashi wished he could return her to that state of being, if only to spare her heart the pain she felt now.
Sakura was calming down now, though she wasn't pulling away from his body. She kept her face where it was, buried against the center of his chest as she squeezed him tighter, almost like she was trying to meld their bodies into one. The water from his hair dripped down onto her arms as he held her, his chin resting on the top of her head while he hummed softly to her.
There was no denying the fact that he wasn't holding a child right now, Kakashi realized with a small gulp as his member twitched. He was certain Sakura wasn't aware of what her body was doing to him - what it had been doing to him for weeks - but he was all too aware of how grown up she had become. She had the body of a voluptuous woman, and Kakashi was only a man, after all.
He could feel her curves pressed tightly against all the right places, and that scent of hers - slightly spicy, with sweet undertones of the cherry blossoms she was named after - was intoxicating to him. His eye drifted shut as he inhaled deeply, not realizing it as his hand drifted just a little further south until it met the bare skin of her lower back. He rested the pads of his thumbs on each dimple and took a deliberate breath, willing the stirring in his loins to stop before the young kunoichi noticed.
They held each other without moving for a few moments longer, until the loud buzzing of an alarm clock near the bed began going off. Sakura took a step back from him, a light blush creeping across her cheeks as though she had only just realized that he was clad in nothing but a towel. She turned away from him, taking a few steps before she turned back to face him.
"Finish your shower, Kakashi-sensei. I'll be fine," she reassured him as she made her way over to the table, turning off the alarm clock. Kakashi watched as she curled back up in his bed, kicking the sheet completely to the bottom of the tatami and then turned away from her, making his way back to the shower he'd so hastily exited.
The water was colder now, Kakashi realized with a sharp exhale of breath as the water hit his chest. Although, that was probably a good thing at this point. What had started as just a slight twitch had become a full-blown erection. He rested one arm against the white tiles and leaned the top of his forehead against his forearm, trailing the fingers of his right hand down the tight muscles of his abdomen before wrapping them around his throbbing dick.
He closed his eyes and visions of her blushed cheeks emblazoned themselves into his closed eyelids, making him groan. He bet her other set of cheeks would look lovely in that shade. He stroked a little quicker now, biting his bottom lip as he recalled those impossibly long legs of hers, splayed out on his tatami. He just knew they'd feel amazing wrapped around his core; squeezing tight, pulling him as close as their physical mass would allow...
Fuck.
He slid his thumb over his slit, moaning softly as he imagined Sakura's soft, small fingers replacing his own calloused ones. A glob of pre-cum oozed out, and he spread it over the head of his cock before sliding his hand a little faster, his breath hitching in his throat when he thought of seeing her knelt between his legs, those small fingers eager to please as she looked up at him with those big, green doe eyes of hers that seemed capable of melting the elite shinobi into a puddle at her feet. He could almost feel her short fingernails now, digging into his thighs as she took her prize into that warm, wet mouth of hers.
Another clap of thunder gave cover for a louder moan. His hand was moving at a feverish pace now, desperate to release some of the pent up sexual tension he'd been holding in for weeks - ever since that first hot night of the summer, when she'd worn one of his shirts to bed because her own pajamas were too uncomfortable in the sweltering humidity.
He couldn't say why for certain, but that was the night he'd stopped seeing Sakura as a fragile, small child and started seeing her for the woman that she had become seemingly overnight. She was filled out now, with a figure that turned the head of most men who looked her way and an ass that left little to the imagination as to what it looked like beneath that woolen pink dress of hers.
The mental image of her exposed ass, peach-shaped and tight, was all Kakashi needed to finally spill over, and he bit into his forearm with a growl, not wanting to alert the bright kunoichi that he was doing anything but innocently showering. His hips thrust, sending a string of cum against the tile. Another thrust, another string; this one landing mostly in his own hand as he used it to continue jerking more slowly now before he finally erupted one last time against the wall.
Kakashi stood there for a few moments, allowing himself to catch his breath before he quickly rinsed off and cleaned up, turning the shower off before he got out to begin getting ready for the day ahead. He didn't realize in his haste that he'd left behind a drizzle of cum that had fallen behind the bar of soap sitting on the shelf.
He flipped the light switch off and silently entered his bedroom again. The quiet sounds of Sakura's breath met his ears as he walked past the tatami. He urged himself on towards the closet, where he quietly pulled out a fresh uniform and his flak jacket before he walked back to the bathroom, dressing in the dark while Sakura slept on in bliss. He gave one last look at the bed, smiling at the way she was so relaxed in his bed before he crossed the short expanse of floor, his fingertips gently brushing the pink hair away from her face.
"I'm heading out now, Sakura," he murmured to her. One green eye opened to greet him, before shutting again as she drifted off back to sleep. At least one of them would be well-rested today. He pecked her forehead before sliding his bedroom window open, disappearing off onto the rooftops in the rain towards the Hokage's tower.
