Lori could hadly contain her excitement on seeing Mayor Davis, the one in charge of her hometown. On the other hand, she felt a little nervous too, and worried that she was in trouble because of her new superhero work, and she heard that being a superhero would count as being a "vigilante" which is... not really legal under the Constitution.

Alas, Lori couldn't possibly turn down a personal invitation from Mayor Davis himself, and was dropped off by her father.

He wished her good luck before he drove off and Lori took a breath before slowly walking into the Mayor's home. Many security guards patrolling the place recognized her as the new hero and stared at her as she was walking by.

These guards looked intimidating with the shades and black uniforms that make them look like those spy movies or bodyguards from the Godfather. But it was a good thing the mayor herself is a very nice and easygoing person since Leni is one of her model citizens for the whole city.

Two tough-looking members of her security force were right outside her office door on either side of it with their arms crossed and wearing sunglasses to look as tough and intimidating as possible.

"ummm, I'm Volcano Girl." Lori greeted in a sheepish tone of voice. "I have an appointment with the mayor."

Both guards didn't say anything to her in response, but the guard on the right touched the button on his ear communicator, and said: "Miss mayor, Volcano Girl is here."

"Perfect. Let her in, boys."

"Copy that."

"You have permission to step over the threshold." The guard on the left said as he and his buddy stepped out of the way for Lori to get through.

Lori opened the door and saw the mayor sitting in her desk and looking rather serious. "You.. wanted to see me, Mrs. Mayor?" Asked Lori

"That I did, Volcano Girl. Please. Sit down."

"Sure thing." It was silent for a brief amount of time, probably almost a minute and Lori was desperately waiting to hear about the reason why she was here in the first place.

"Now then, Volcano Girl, I wanted to... congratulate you on a job well done for keeping everything peaceful and great in my city." Davis immediately went from hardened to her usually cheerful demeanor, much to Lori's relief.

"Thank you. Even though I am literally a vigilante and not a police officer, or a federal agent, shall I go on?"

"Oh, many comic book superheroes are vigilantes, and they don't really get in trouble... mostly."

"Fair enough."

"Wait..." Mayor Davis looked at Lori's face a little closer, and it was like she recognized her, and immediately did. "Lori Loud?"

"Ssssh! Not so loud!" Lori quietly screamed. "It's my secret identity, and I don't want to put my family in danger because of it."

"Oh, right. The superhero code." Davis recognized. "I'm so sorry, Lori. I forgot about that."

"It's fine, but... how did you know it was literally me?"

"I know a face when I see it and the sound of their voice when I hear it. Plus, there is only one person I know that says 'literally' most of the time."

"Oh." Lori looked slightly embarrassed about her dead giveaway.

"You." Mayor smiled as she pointed her two fingers at her playfully.

"Right. Gotta be more careful with what I say." The teen girl sighed to herself.

"Don't worry, Lori. Your secret is safe with me. After all, your sister Leni has made great contributions as a model citizen of Royal Woods. And i can expect you to do the same as the superhero for Royal Woods, Volcano Girl."

Lori smiled gratefully at the mayor's kind words, and was right to trust her in any way possible in any situation. "Thank you, Mrs. Mayor." said Lori. "I'll do my best to keep the city safe from any danger and any crime that tries to plunge it into literal chaos."

"Perfect. All you have to do is swear to it, and i'll let you go on your merry way, Lori."

"What do you want me to say?"

The mayor got out of her chair and pulled out a small book and placed it on her desk. "Now, repeat after me." the mayor raised her left hand, and Lori speculated that she did the same and placed her left hand on her chest and raised her right hand next to her head. "I, Volcano Girl,"

"I, Volcano Girl,:

"The newest superhero of Royal Woods,"

"The newest superhero of Royal Woods"

"Swear to protect the city and it's wonderful citizens at any cost." The mayor finished

"Swear to protect the city and it's wonderful citizens at any cost." Lori repeated the final phrase.

Mayor Davis smiled. "And you are all set Lori. That is all. Keep up the good work" she said. "Thank you so much for coming to my office and keep the citizens safe from any danger and do your best to rid this city of any crime and villainy."

"I will, Mrs Mayor." Lori smiled. "I'll see you later, i guess."

"Though i do have a question." said the mayor before Lori could walk out the office door. "Who was that crazy golf villain that was looking for you?"

The fire girl looked uncomfortable as if Davis had asked a rather personal question. But ultimately, she said: "Patty Putter." in a flat voice. "She wanted revenge on me for beating her in the golf tournament a little while ago. I tried to talk to her, and try to persuade her that i was sorry and never meant for any of this to happen, but she wouldn't listen to me."

"Oh Lori, baby, don't be too hard on yourself. You want to know the hardest part about being a superhero?"

"Keeping your identity a secret from everyone in the world?" asked Lori

Davis laughed and said: "No. You can't save everybody."

"Yeah, I got that." Lori sighed

"And don't worry about it. it's best to just leave those kind of people alone. Some people can never change."

"Got it." Lori said.

As Lori walked out of the mayor's residence, she wondered on whatever crime needs to be stopped next and took a walk around the city (in her civilian attire so any bad guys hiding wouldn't notice her.) It was looking very nice and peaceful in the neighborhood she was walking through and then, the sound of a woman screaming was heard in a nearby alley. "My purse!" Lori gasped and followed where that shriek came from. There was a mean-looking mugger trying to snatch a purse from a poor lady and Lori hid behind a dumpster to transform into her new superhero identity. When she transformed, she came from behind the trash can and saw that the mugger had successfully taken the poor lady's purse

"Now to finish you off so there won't be any witnesses." he pulled out a bowie knife to possibly stab the woman to death. Before he could strike the killing blow however, Lori stepped up and gripped the man's left wrist, making him looked surprised.

"Why don't you literally pick on somebody your own size?" said Lori before kicking the brute in the face, knocking him to the ground. The teenage girl picked up the stolen purse that the mugger dropped and gave it back to the woman. "Here you go. Are you ok?"

"Yeah. Thanks to you." said the lady.

The man slowly got back up, growling in anger.

"Get out of here! Get somewhere safe!" Lori told the lady, and the bystander did just that, she ran away to a safe place away from the upcoming fight.

"You just made a big mistake, lady." said the mugger, wiping the blood from his nose. "Now you're going to suffer."

Lori readied herself in a battle pose and said: "bring it on." She waited for the man to make the first move and he charged at her with a fist in his right hand, but he missed and Lori shot fireballs at his shoes, making him freak out and prance like an idiot.

Then this gave Lori the perfect chance to give him a painful uppercut to the face and knock him to the nearby dumpster, rendering him unconscious. It didn't take long for some officers to check out the commotion. Lori explained the whole story and the officers happily cuffed the stunned brute. "Thank you, Volcano girl." said the first officer. "You have done it again."

"All in the days' work." Lori happily replied.
