"Dropped out of College and got a job as a Bike Courier, hehe, mostly just to piss off my parents. I was just someone you would never notice, just a guy delivering packages to folks you would never know. Then one day a package found me.
Thousands died, 5 square blocks. Smashed into rubble and at the centre was me.
By my side was a young boy, Hadrian. He lost his relatives to a bastard who finds killing fun. I found him when I was delivering a package which was arranged for me to pick up which exploded causing the both of us to go unconscious. But we were alive.
Alive, but changed and nobody could have seen what was coming.
Back then Empire City was in quarantine, it had gone to hell, other people with powers started showing up and it was our job to sort through it all. To find out who had given me that package, and why.
Hell even my best friend turned his back on me to try and get powers of his own.
But in the end we found the man responsible, Kesslar. He explained everything through a vision of the future. The Beast is coming. A monster only Hadrian and I could defeat. Provided that we are strong and ready to face it. A month later, we met Lucy Kuo. She somehow knew about the Beast, in fact she had come to help us prepare. Claimed a friend Dr. Wolfe had worked on the Ray Sphere prototype and he could amplify our powers. All we had to do was go down with her to New Marais.
We need those powers, the Beast is coming, and we will be ready" Cole narrated with a firm tone.
Standing next to Cole, wearing a red shirt and a black unzipped jacket with black pants which had red stripes on its side and a red lightning bolt necklace hanging from his neck given to him by Petunia.
"I'm sorry but I couldn't find a green one to match your eyes but I hope you like it" The voice of Petunia Dursley echoed through Hadrian's mind.
It is, thank you Aunt Petunia Hadrian thought
Hadrian sighed leaning on the railings of the boat which was docked, his once messy black hair was now unnaturally spiky hot red revealing a thin lightning bolt scar and the glasses that once sat on his nose were nowhere to be seen. With a sigh Hadrian looked at Empire City with his hair flowing through the wind as he thought about his current situation.
"Never expected to get wrapped into this huh?" Cole teased despite the tense situation.
"Cole I will bitch slap you" Hadrian threatened raising his hand which was then lit up covered in red electricity.
Cole laughed and patted Hadrian on the back but Hadrian could see that Cole was as tense as he was
"You should relax lightning bolt" A voice joked and both Hadrian and Cole turn to see Zeke walking towards them.
"We will relax after we get in, get some new powers and are prepared to fight the Beast" Cole stated, Zeke sighed before smiling with eyes lit up with excitement
"Come on guys you deserve to relax, were going to New Marais" Zeke suggests with a bright smile on his face
"We need to be back here and ready when it shows up Zeke" Hadrian stated
"Trust me Hadrian, you both will be ready when your done working with Doctor Wolfe" Kuo stated walking towards the trio
"Work? Hah. Easy Kuo. When we get there we will be about the 3 B's, that's beer, boobs and mechanical bulls" Zeke says, causing Cole to cover his mouth trying to hide his amusement while Hadrian cracks a small smile. Kuo sighs annoyed at Zeke's behavior.
"Gentlemen, I don't think you understand the scope of what is going on here" Kuo stated, annoyed.
A loud roar echoed through out the area and explosions can be seen off in the distance
"What is going on?" Kuo asks confused
Screaming can be heard as a shape began to take form off in the distance
Both Hadrian and Cole's eyes widen in realisation
"No, no, no… no!" Cole exclaimed as he and Hadrian jumped off the ship landing onto the dock with red and blue electricity lashing at everything around the area.
"Uhm, Magrath, Potter we had a deal. This boat is leaving" Kuo informed the duo over their phone which was strapped on their shirt/Jacket
"Relax we got time for this" Cole states
They both run towards the Beast and a large gate blocked their way
"Quarintine's over!" A civilian exclaimed happily
"It's Magrath and Potter, help us!" A civilian pleaded
Cole throws a large bolt of blue lightning which destroys the gate allowing the civilians to get to the ships and they both continue to run towards the Beast. As they continue a giant piece of a building smashes into a nearby ship causing it to sink.
Damn it Hadrian cursed as he sees people jump off of the ship as the two continue to run towards the destruction.
Both reach the end of the dock and see a large man covered in molten lava destroying nearby buildings.
"Cole, Hadrian, you have to stop him" Kuo informed the two as the stopped and saw the Beast destroying the area
"Let's do this" Hadrian growls angrily as his body sparks with red electricity
Cole nods and they both raise their hands firing a barrage of red and blue bolts of lightning towards the Beast catching it's attention.
The Beast turns towards the direction of the attacks and sees Hadrian and Cole.
"Yeah, right here man!" Cole yells out, the Beast then throws a statue towards the two causing them both to be sent flying back when it crashes into the dock.
"Cole, Harry. Get up man" Zeke encourages as the both of them struggle to stand.
The statue near them began to move and the both of them found themselves staring directly at the Beast.
"The Beast" The duo mumbled to themselves in shock
Both shake their heads and growl in anger causing electricity to spark off their body and they both raise their hands and fire off large bolts of lightning.
"Kesslar told us about you, we are not going to let it happen!" Cole yells.
The Beast roars and throws a ball of fire towards Cole and Cole rolls to the side avoiding the ball of fire.
Hadrian puts his hands together and red electricity began to build up before firing a large beam of electricity causing the Beast to stumble back from the force of the attack
"Nice one Harry!" Cole yells
"We gotta keep it up!" Hadrian yells out
"I know!" Cole yells firing off another barrage of lightning bolts
A wave of energy explodes from the Beast causing everything near him to float
"Oh not good!" Hadrian yelled
"Don't forget to fly Harry!" Cole yelled
Hadrian nods and his body is covered in electricity while electricity bursts from Cole's hand allowing him to manoeuvre in the air with less difficulty.
The Beast roars at the two and they both narrow their eyes in anger.
Cole raises his right hand up while the other allows him to maneuver in the air and he begins to fire a barrage of lightning bolts at the Beast while Hadrian flies towards the statue which is now floating in the air and sends a surge of red electricity into the statue causes it to fly directly towards the Beast. The statue smashes into the Beast causing it to crash into the water canceling it's anti gravity ability which causes Cole to fall onto the dock.
Hadrian descends slowly and lands on the dock beside Cole
"That's what I'm talking about!" Cole cheers as the both of them high five each other with large smiles on their faces.
A giant hand then emerges from the water and the Beast stands up revealing that half of its face and large portions of its body was destroyed.
"Shit!" Hadrian cursed as he glared at the Beast.
"Now! Bring down the lightning!" Zeke yelled over Cole's and Hadrian's phone
Cole nods and raises his arms before bringing them down causing lightning to come from the sky striking the Beast and soon the rest of the Beast's head explodes causing it to stumble back.
The beast groans as it falls into the water with its hand sinking into the water.
"Hey good job man, but get back to the boat. Pears breaking up!" Zeke stated
"Nice work you two, that was impressive" Kuo says amazed as they both run to the end of the pear.
Both Conduits continue to run towards the end of the pear with it slowly collapsing behind them.
"Wooh, come on man jump!" Zeke yells and the both of them jump off the end of the pear as it falls and a wave of energy surges through the area causing the both of them to remain floating in the air.
The Beast emerges from the water grabbing both of them.
Cole raises his hand and begins to shoot at the Beast while Hadrian yells in pain as his power drains from his body.
"Come on, come on! Yeah come on! Come on!" Cole yelled as the bolts hit the Beast in the face
"Give it everything you got!" Zeke yells
Cole raises his arms before bringing it down summoning a lightning strike causing it to explode releasing the both of them into the water
"Cole! Harry!" Zeke yells out in fear.
"The Beast had drained us. Broken our powers. It felt like the end. Heh, I almost wish it was… The Beast had just put itself back together. And now Empire City. Is dead.
Our ship ran for it, fleeing south to New Marais.
People kept their distance whether from respect or fear, I don't know. Either way we were alone.
Others kept busy acting out their routines as if they would make right again, heh. But I knew better.
We were given powers to defeat the Beast. We were strong. We were ready. We had fought it with everything we had. But it wasn't enough. That needed to change.
The next day we went to work. We both helped Zeke create a device to help focus our powers. Hell, he will do anything to be friends like we used to be.
Agent Kuo gathered intelligence on the Beast. Town after town was lost as it travelled down the coast. She also used her contacts to requisition a smaller boat. New Marias was in lockdown, they wouldn't let anyone in. We were going to have to sneak in through the swamp.
I don't know if you ever let someone down… Got your ass kicked or just straight up failed… But those are the moments that define us. They push you further than you ever thought possible and force you to make choices. No matter what the cost" Cole narrated.
