Vibrant lights beamed into the sky and a buzz of energy filled Inkopolis Square as the song Color Pulse, composed and sang by Off The Hook, played live. On the stage overlooking the streets and the Turf War lobby, Pearl and Marina were up front, singing for all of squid-kind to hear, as energetic Inklings enjoyed the colorful concert.
Pearl's rapping voice was something no Inkling could forget, neither were Marina's back-up vocals when she sang while spinning those disk tracks. Judd and Li'l Judd, Inkopolis' top Turf War cat judges were dancing alongside the Inklings and the Octolings living in Inkopolis.
In the streets, the golden-haired squid girl Saya Stacy was dancing and humming to the music, enjoying every moment of the evening concert. It may not have been Splatfest season, but the performance was amazing. Saya twirled around and closed her eyes, becoming one with the rhythm.
Just then, she felt a buzz in her pocket and pulled out her phone, seeing a message from someone she knew; "Behind you. Love, Parker."
"Yo."
Saya turned around, seeing her web-slinging boyfriend in his superhero outfit, hanging upside down from a web connecting to a building. Nobody else seemed to pay attention to the red-haired squid interacting with the Inkling girl, but there were a lot of red Inklings in the city. If anyone saw Parker, they'd assume it was a different red Inkling.
However, Parker was special. For the past couple years, after being bit by a radioactive spider, he'd been swinging around and taking down bad guys as Spider-Squid. He'd told Saya during one of their dates and she didn't seem to mind what he was doing, Parker was a kind and brave squid boy, and Saya loved him.
"Enjoyin' the night?" Parker asked.
"Who wouldn't be, babe?" Saya replied, staring into his blue eyes, "Besides, you're my number one squid, and its not every day when you get to date a superhero."
"You wanna grab a bite or do you wanna watch the concert?" Parker quipped, "We got all night to be with each other. After all, I love you, Saya."
Saya walked closer towards her boyfriend and reached up to caress his face in a gentle manner. "You are so cute, Spider-Squid." The Inkling reporter in-training said with a smile, "And I think I have an idea for what we can do tonight?"
And then, in a move that had only been done in a superhero movie trilogy, Saya kissed Parker while he was hanging upside down. And while everyone partied and savored the show, the web-slinging squid and his girlfriend performed the upside-down kiss made famous in the universe designated as Earth-96283, home of the 2000s Spider-Man.
A couple Inklings saw it. One squid took a picture, and another made a d'awww expression. The scene was very heartwarming. Even the Villager, who was visiting from the Animal Crossing universe, loved the sight.
'Wow.' The Villager thought.
Meanwhile, outside Inkopolis Square, a tan Inkling with green hair sat under a tree as he made out with a slender Octoling girl in a crop top and a short skirt. The girl was Agent 8 of the Squidbeak Splatoon and the Inkling was Makerboy10, often known as Alex. He and Agent 8 had been dating for a while. In fact, they were very happy together as far as everyone else was concerned.
"Your tentacles are so smooth." Agent 8 said to Makerboy, gently caressing his head.
"And you have very gorgeous eyes and very smooth hips." Makerboy told the Octoling.
However, little did they know that a large spider, surrounded by a radioactive aura, had escaped a facility and was perched on a tree branch just above the couple. In fact, the spider was ready to pounce, its legs twitching with each passing second.
Makerboy sat back against the tree with Agent 8 in his lap, holding her in a gentle manner. Agent 8 planted a kiss on his cheek, then she looked up at the stars with her boyfriend, smiling dreamily as she took in the gleaming beauty of the evening. Makerboy leaned back with a content smile, quietly counting the stars in the night sky.
"Isn't this a wonderful night?" Agent 8 asked.
"Great night to chill." Makerboy nodded, "And there is so much beauty to take in, especially in the stars. I think I can see a star in your eyes, Agent 8."
Agent 8 giggled and nuzzled her head against the sweet Inkling with a catlike purr. "Was that an attempt to flirt with me?" She asked, "I don't have stars in my eyes, you have to be teasing me."
Makerboy cupped her face gently, unaware that the spider was moving. "Eight..." He said, "I'm not being literal, but you are one of the most attractive sights in the universe on par with the stars. You are gorgeous as the ocean, as sweet as the sunset, and are as pretty as the stars of the night. My heart is for you, Agent 8, and you're too stunning for me to forget."
"You're so kind, MB10." Agent 8 remarked sweetly, "And I think you're just as cute as the stars too."
Makerboy pulled out his phone and snapped a photo of the starry night sky, then he turned the camera towards him and Agent 8 together. Agent 8 flashed a peace sign and Makerboy snapped the photo, right as the spider touched his shoulder and crawled towards his hand.
"Kiss me..." Agent 8 whispered.
"I love you..." Makerboy cupped her cheeks, and kissed her deeply. His palms moved to cup the Octoling's shapely hips, just as the spider touched his hand. And then, the arachnid made its move, sinking its fangs into Makerboy's hand.
"Ow!" The Inkling cried, he pulled up his hand and shook it, wincing with pain and unaware that the spider's bite was something far more than just a bite.
"ALEX!" Agent 8 cried, "A-Are you okay?"
"Just... got bit." Makerboy stammered, "I'm fine."
"Oohh, look at the little spider." He heard his Octoling girlfriend remark. Makerboy watched as Agent 8 gently picked up a glowing spider from his hand, then the humanoid female octopus placed the arachnid onto a flower, and it crawled away while Makerboy nursed his hand.
"Shit." Makerboy quipped, clutching his bitten hand, "Can this night get weirder?"
Agent 8 shushed him gently, then she took Makerboy's hand and began to nurse it, making the Inkling's heart pound a little. Agent 8 kissed it, then she hugged him, making the fresh squid feel a little better. However, he was starting to sweat in the forehead. Makerboy reached up, wiping some drops from his noggin.
"Man, I'm feeling tired." Makerboy commented.
"Dear, are you okay?" Agent 8 asked with concern, she placed the back of her hand up to her Inkling soulmate's forehead, "You... feel feverish."
"Just tired." Makerboy repeated, "I... just need to get some sleep and I'll be okay. Damn, I don't know how hazardous that spider bite was, but I can feel something nasty."
Agent 8 hugged him. "No, it'll be okay." She assured him, "I can keep you company until your fever goes away."
"You can spend the night with me if you want." Makerboy said, slowly rising to his feet.
"I'll sleep with you tonight." Agent 8 held his arm and gave him a puppy dog eyes expression, "Anything to make my Alex feel better. You just need to take it easy, and the fever will go away in the morning."
Makerboy scooped his gorgeous Octo-girlfriend into his arms, bridal style, made sure he had his phone, and then walked away through the grassland back towards Inkopolis. Makerboy struggled to stay awake, holding Agent 8 very close to him, while an aching sensation pounded his sinuses. And little did he know the spider's bite was changing him...
