GammaTron: The final day of Mega May…and to end it all…I go back to where it all began for me on Fanfiction. The original version of this story is one of my oldest tales, even getting a remake once before that became its own thing before petering out. I tried to do too much with no true plan. But this time? I planned. I made sure to have a plot and prepped. Even annoyed friends with questions. Hopefully, things go well for this. I hope you guys all enjoy this work and can give honest feedback on it.
Disclaimer: I do not own Megaman Battle Network nor Sonic the Hedgehog. They are owned by CAPCOM and SEGA respectively. I only claim ownership of the original characters utilized throughout this story.
Running…It's what he loved the most…it's what he did the best. And right now…it was what was needed the most. He had to do this…he had to run counterclockwise to this Q̢̨͝͝ù̸̢̡a͘͠ņ̛ţ̡u͜͞͏̧̛ḿ͏҉̸̕ ̸D̸̸̷̡͟i̛͜͞ą͟͜l̷͏́͜͜ and its rotation…He had to save everyone! He couldn't look back…because he knew he'd change his mind the moment he did. He raced hard against alien forces too difficult to comprehend, not that he cared since he did that before. How often had he done this? Running around at speeds thought impossible…all to save friends and family? To save the world itself? Perhaps too many times…far too many. But if he was able to do it just one more time…just one more time…it would all be worth it. *THUD!*
"GUH! Ugh…" a figure groaned, wrapped up in a blue fluffy blanket and having just fallen to the cold dark-blue and purple tiled floor.
The figure fumbled around inside of it until a blue glove poked out. It patted around before grabbing the fabric and pulled. The figure inside spun and landed on their back. They blinked slowly, gazing upon the dim black sky above filled not with stars by slowly changing neon green digital ones and zeroes. With another grunt, they got up and sat on the bed. They held out a blue gloved hand and a leather-bound journal appeared in a swirl of data. He held the other out as he opened the journal, causing a blue and pink pen to form in it. He clicked the top, letting the nub emerge.
''May 31, 20XX. Dreamt of that blue hedgehog again. Alien invasion happened. Still couldn't hear any names or see the faces of anyone there. Planet was apparently visited by them before-the aliens, I mean-before humans vivisected their emissary, causing the aliens to drop some sorta bomb on the planet and reverted everything and everyone on the surface into a primordial soup of sorts,'' he thought as he wrote, ''Worked together with the strange man the hedgehog fought in other dreams. Robot looked like Optimus Prime in a way…maybe I want to watch the cartoons again? The Optimus copycat scared the aliens off with one punch and the man double-crossed the hedgehog, using him as a power source. Robot was destroyed approaching a weird sundial-shaped doomsday device that could make black holes. The hedgehog ran counterclockwise to break it, but dream ended as it started breaking down…''
A soft yawn paused his writing before a soft voice spoke, "Mega? Wh…What's going on?"
"Huh?" The soft emerald eyes looked up from the journal to a pair of half-opened jade eyes, "Oh! Roll! S-Sorry. Did I wake you up?"
"You made that thumping noise?" Roll asked, "Thought a virus came in…" she rubbed an eye before seeing the journal, "...Hm? What's that?"
"Oh! Um…It…It's a dream journal," Megaman replied.
"A dream…journal?" Roll repeated, tilting her head.
"Um…It's a journal where I write about these dreams," Megaman explained, "They're…pretty weird."
"Weird?"
"I…keep dreaming about this…blue hedgehog," Megaman explained as he patted his helmet, "And not because of this. This has been happening since Lan installed HubBATCH into me."
"Really?" Roll asked.
"Yeah," Megaman replied, "U-Um…y-you can look…if…if you wanna…" he blushed as he looked at his lap where the journal was.
"Are you sure?"
"I trust you," Megaman replied.
"...Okay," Roll spoke before sitting down beside him, "Do you wanna pick one for me to look at?"
Megaman shook his head, "You can pick which ones you want to."
"Oh…" Roll blinked a few times before smiling, "Thank you, Mega."
She leaned in and pecked his cheek with a kiss, making his blush grow. She moved closer to him, her grey bodysuit pressing against his navy blue bodysuit. She reached down with a pink glove and opened the journal on his lap, moving it to rest on both their legs. She laid her head on his yellow armored shoulder with a small emerald-shaped armor piece on the bottom. As she started to read, Megaman tensed a little, feeling something wrap around him, before relaxing on looking down at the long blond fox tail with a white tip wrapped around him and settled on laying on his unoccupied leg.
'That's going to take time to get used to…' Megaman thought…his and Roll's hedgehog ears twitching on their uncovered heads.
Megaman glared up at the behemoth before him. A mishmash of bugs all cobbled together, constantly shifting and altering…and yet…they kept to a consistent state of a massive wolf, a jagged 'mane' of spikes jutting out of the back of its angular head. It was such an insane battle with this monster. Its body was both solid yet fluid as well, taking his best shots with Lan to no avail. It wasn't until halfway through the battle that they realized it was only taking actual damage when its mouth was open.
"Hub…That…that was our last BattleChip…"
Megaman grimaced. Because of course this would happen just as they were so close. All they really had now were his Buster and their feet to dodge. The beast howled as it let its claws rip off and shoot at him. Running it was. As Megaman began to dodge, his thoughts went to the dreams…the running in them…the speed…unnoticed, the dodging had caused him to start to go into a circle of deadly dodges. As he continued to run, he could feel Lan's frustrations with his own. This radiation kept increasing…this brat that led a criminal organization that nearly killed their friend Yai…that hurt so many people in Ameropa…that nearly crashed the plane they were on before they could get back home…slaughtering an entire network…to scarring Maylu and Roll by splitting them up with annoying ice…and now Lan was paralyzed, unable to do anything now except be a voice in his head.
Unaware to either of them, blue sparks began to leak out as Megaman picked up his pace. His emerald green eyes began to glow blue as more sparks fell from his body. Faster…they just wanted to go faster…to let it all out! The beast stepped back, seeing not a small blue pest but a large ring, one burying itself with each moment. The ring sped up, showing images of Megaman running as if each were a frame. As one, the twins let out a scream, unleashing all their pent up frustrations and emotions out into the air…with a massive blue pulse. The moment it hit the beast, it howled in agonizing pain as it was ripped apart as its bugs were destroyed.
The image flickered as a pause symbol appeared. A man in his thirties looked away from the screen, adjusting his glasses as he did so. He ruffled his reddish-brown hair before adjusting the orange and white long-sleeved shirt on him.
"Okay…This? This is the origin," he explained, rewinding to just before Megaman let out the pulse before tapping on a tablet in his hands and the feed zoomed out into a smaller window, showing several readings, "The energy in this pulse? Easily enough to power fifty cities the size of New York in the 1990s for two hundred years! That's why the amalgamation was destroyed so easily by the energy." He looked at a boy around eleven with brown hair and a blue bandana, "I don't know how you and Megaman did it, but that energy wave was amazing!"
"Thanks, Papa, but…" Lan pointed at his head…showing a pair of brown hedgehog ears twitching on top of them and then at his back to show a tiny hedgehog tail poking out the medical gown, "It doesn't explain these."
"Ah. R-Right…" the man blushed before tapping on his tablet and changing the screen, showing Megaman wearing a deep blue torso armor with collar and a helmet in two shades of blue with silver bands that turned into armor to cover his hedgehog ears and extended out back for three spikes to come out of the curve of the helmet and a fourth in the center of them all, "Well, that may be the fault of ChangeBATCH."
"The program that let Megaman get StyleChange?" Lan looked at the one who asked: a dark-red haired girl a year older than him with brown eyes…and a pair of dark-red fennec fox ears on her head and a fluffy fox-like cat tail over her lap.
"Yes, that, Maylu," the man replied, "The energy that Megaman produced while he was running went through ChangeBATCH and actually supercharged it to levels unheard of! Instead of simply affecting Megaman and giving him a new Style, the program was actually carried through the Pulse!"
"Meaning that the boundary between the two worlds, already weakened by my servers, let it go through and into the entire area affected aka the entire apartment complex," a boy Lan's age with silver hair noted sadly, his silver fox ears and tail drooping.
"Mmm…" Maylu scowled, narrowing her eyes at the boy until Lan put a hand on her shoulder and shook his head.
"That's exactly it, Sean," the man confirmed as he changed the image to a shot of space where a spot on the Earth was shown shooting a blue bolt of lightning into space, "All that power then shot straight out into space with no one knowing where it's going or what it will hit. But the point is…is that this also shows that you managed to create a place where everyone and everything was half 'real' and half 'digital,' which is why you kids got the supercharged ChangeBATCH inside of you and caused your transformations." He looked at another boy around Maylu's age with layered black and white hair…with a wolf's ears and tail in the same pattern as the hair, "It was honestly a good idea to make sure you all came to Seaside Hospital for radiation tests, Chaud. You managed to detain this…um…surprise you all have from the public eye."
"Hn," Chaud nodded, "Though…why animals? And why do the girls have a hybrid of two?"
"I…have no idea to be honest," he admitted, "This is something science has never had to deal with before. What happened at the Gospel HQ is something that should have been considered an impossibility. Honestly, I'd like to hear your method of leading to it, Sean."
"Um, well…" Sean began before seeing the glares Maylu and Chaud were giving him, "...Maybe later, Dr. Hikari?"
"Alright," Lan's father replied with a nod.
"So…What happens now, Papa?" Lan asked.
"Now? We're waiting for a vet to come," Dr. Hikari replied.
"...A vet?" Maylu asked.
"Well, you're all half-animal now. We need to see how far that is," Dr. Hikari replied, "See if you'll need shots or…"
"SHOTS?!" Lan yelped, preparing to run before Chaud tackled him and quickly pinned the brunette, "Ah! Lemme go! Lemme go! I don't want a shot, let alone multiple ones!"
"Oh Lan…" Dr. Hikari sighed in exasperation, facepalming.
"We don't even know if they'll work on us yet," Maylu noted.
"Still not wanting to take that chance!" Lan argued, trying to get out of Chaud's grip, "Owowowow! You've been lifting since Ameropa, haven't you?!"
"Lan, if you stop complaining and trying to escape, I'll make sure you get Megaman back," Dr. Hikari sighed.
"You're done studying him?" Lan asked, pausing in his struggles to look at his dad with hope.
"Yes. They're all good, but due to the ChangeBATCH's overload, they can't change out of these StyleChanges," Dr. Hikari informed.
"...Alright," Lan gave in, really missing him.
Chaud narrowed his eyes, but slowly let go of Lan and got off him. Dr. Hikari walked over to a briefcase and opened it, revealing two blue handheld devices that looked to open up with a push of a button. The third, however, was larger and rounded. It looked like a tablet, but with the same emblem on Lan and Dr. Hikari's outfits on the corner: a red circle divided diagonally with two small black triangles at the ends of the line, making the split circle look more like a pair of trapezoids.
"Huh?" Lan pondered, spotting the odd one out.
"The energy pulse fried your original PeT, Lan," Dr. Hikari explained, "And, after an incident while analyzing him, Megaman can produce that energy still and it would have fried the previous model, so I made you an updated PeT with a stronger casing, better wiring and hardware that should help prevent the systems from being fried. I call it the Plug-In PeT."
"Oh~!" Lan awed as everyone blinked and he was suddenly by Dr. Hikari, holding the PeT and turning it on, "Mmm…Come on, come on. Boot up already…"
"Huh? What the…?" Dr. Hikari blinked several times, looking back and forth between where Lan was now and where he had been on the other side of the large room the four were using for their stay in the hospital, "But you were…but now you're…Hmm…" he rubbed his chin in thought.
The PeT finally completed its boot-up and Megaman appeared on the screen, yawning before seeing Lan and smiled, "Hi Lan!"
"Hub!" Lan beamed, "Glad to have you back! How's the new PeT?"
"It's pretty comfortable! I even have a whole bedroom in here now instead of a bed I have to keep dismissing and reforming!" Megaman beamed, his hedgehog tail wagging a little.
"Great! Oh!" Lan realized before he became a brown blur and was over at Maylu and Chaud, giving them the other two, "Here ya go!"
"...Hikari…did you just run faster than I could blink?" Chaud asked.
"I did?" Lan asked.
"You did, Lan," Sean replied.
'That vet can't come soon enough…' Dr. Hikari thought as the two turned their PeTs on.
Roll yawned as she stretched, wearing a pink and magenta helmet with two gold pieces on the front that let out semi-transparent plug-shaped tassels with her hedgehog ears underneath armor, "Oh! Hi there, Maylu! Oh my goodness! You have ears and a tail like me!"
"Roll…" Maylu smiled at the NetNavi.
"So you were affected like the three of us were, Sir Chaud," an older, teenage-looking NetNavi with long silver hair in a near-black bodysuit with red armored over his torso/upper body, knee-high boots, elbow-length gauntlets, and a rounded red helmet with a small horn and black visor over the eyes like sunglasses…and a silver wolf tail and wolf ears beneath armor.
"It seems that we were both physical and digital at the time we were in there," Chaud explained.
"At least Gutsman and Glyde got Yai and Dex out before it could hit them," Maylu noted before they all flinched and covered their ears.
"What's wrong?" Dr. Hikari asked.
"Alarm going off on the first floor!" Maylu replied.
"That stupid vending machine again!" Lan growled.
"Someone unplug it!" Sean begged before, a few seconds later, they slumped and sighed in relief and exasperation, "Can I please sic a Virus on that thing?"
"No, Sean," Lan replied, "You might break it and make the bonus vend alarm go off and unable to turn off."
"Rats. Why do you have to be so logical right now…?"
"Friends have to look out for each other," Lan replied, patting his shoulder and earning a small smile from the fox-boy.
Maylu puffed up a cheek as she quietly fumed, giving Lan and Sean a look. She just didn't get Lan some days. This is the boy who caused all this to happen…yet he goes and befriends him?! She just wanted to go home and play on her piano, but no~! She's stuck here because she grew animal ears and a tail because of what he did due to a temper tantrum!
"AH! Maylu! Maylu! Your tail's on fire!" Roll panicked.
"Huh?" Maylu looked down to see the tip of her tail on fire with a pink flame, "EEK!"
"Not again!" Lan yelped as Chaud hit her tail with a fire extinguisher.
"Fifth time today," Chaud sighed.
"This happened before?!" Roll gawked.
"I keep telling the nurses to get her a keyboard so she can relax," Lan rolled his eyes.
"Are you alright?" Dr. HIkari asked, looking at the tail to see no damage to it, "Huh? You're…uninjured?"
"Y-Yeah…" Maylu replied, "They come out and it doesn't even hurt. I don't even notice until someone points it out."
"That's her third bed," Chaud stated, "And those curtains are the second pair they've had to bring it."
"They had to take all the wooden chairs and replace them with these foldable metal ones just to be safe," Sean added.
"...And what about you two?" Dr. Hikari asked, looking at Chaud and Sean.
"Nothing to fully note," Chaud replied, his nose twitching, "You had spaghetti last night."
"Oh, well…yes, I did. How did…?"
"You forgot to brush your teeth since you last ate," he replied.
"Hah?! You had Mama's spaghetti, didn't you?" Lan asked.
"Of course."
"Mmm…No fair," Lan pouted, "They won't let Mama bring curry…"
"Lan, it's a rule for hospitals to do things like that," Megaman sighed.
"But Hub~"
"No buts, Lan."
"Mmm…" Lan pouted.
"I did bring you all some change of clothes so you can walk around and not just stay in here. All pajamas, though. And I had to guess on you two, Chaud, Sean," Dr. Hikari noted as he held up four bags, "Haruka was the one who got your clothes, Maylu."
"I'll have to thank Mrs. Hikari for doing that when she visits," Maylu noted as she accepted her bag and went straight to the bathroom.
"So…any ideas on how to take these away?" Lan asked.
"At the moment, we'd have to recreate the circumstances that led to the breakdown of the boundary between the two worlds," Dr. Hikari replied, "But the chances of replicating the same thing that happened at the Grave Headquarters are extremely slim. For now…" he sighed as he rubbed the back of his head in frustration, "I'm sorry, but you'll be stuck like this."
"..." Megaman looked down at his feet upon hearing that, 'This is my fault…If I didn't get so worked up, then maybe that blue energy wouldn't have come out of me and hurt everyone here…'
Lan grumbled as he walked out of the hospital entrance, wearing a pair of blue pajamas with a soccer ball print on the left side of the shirt. His tail was tucked up into it and he had to wear a fluffy wool hat on his head to hide his ears. He needed a breather from it all. Being stuck with Chaud in the same room was annoying, especially for the three days they've been there already. And he wanted to get rid of that faint smoky smell out of his nose that was stuck in there since the first time Maylu caught fire.
"It sucks we're not allowed to leave the property…" Lan sighed, "I really want to get a burger…"
"I know, Lan," Megaman nodded, "...I'm sorry. This is all my fault."
"Oh not this again," Lan sighed, "Sean did the same thing that you're doing. This was something completely random and unexpected and no one could've known this would happen."
"But…"
"No buts!" Lan argued as he walked down a ramp to the sandy private beach for the hospital.
"..."
"I'm serious, Hub. No one expected this to happen. I mean…I kinda like it."
"Because of Maylu?"
"N-no!" Lan argued, blushing.
"And yet, you were having quite the dream about her on the plane," Megaman teased.
"Mmm…" Lan pouted before spotting something, "Hm?"
Sitting near the shoreline was a wheelchair. In that was a little boy, no older than six. He was wearing a set of orange and yellow pajamas and a pair of yellow slippers. He lightly kicked in it while gazing out at the sea with soft dark-brown/near-black eyes as the salty winds played with his messy chocolate-brown hair. Lan tilted his head as he walked over.
"Um…Hello?" Lan greeted.
"Ah!" the boy squeaked as he turned to look at him, "H-Hi…"
"I'm Lan, Lan Hikari," Lan greeted.
"Um…M-Mamoru. Mamoru Ura," the little boy repeated before seeing the Plug-In PeT, "Huh? Um…I've never seen a PeT like that."
"It's brand new and personally made by my dad," Lan explained as he held it up, "And this is Megaman."
"Hello, Mamoru," Megaman greeted with a smile.
"Oh wow! A NetNavi!" Mamoru awed, "He looks so cool!"
"I know, right?" Lan grinned, "He's the best."
"I'm not all that special…" Megaman argued with a blush.
"So…do you like NetBattles?" Lan asked.
"I love NetBattles!" Mamoru beamed, "Everyone's equal when NetBattling! It doesn't matter even if you're weak, like I am!"
"Hey! Do you want to battle with me?" Lan offered.
"Really!?" Mamoru gasped in excitement before frowning sadly, "Oh, but I can't... The doctor told me no battles. Too much excitement is bad for my condition…"
"Oh... I didn't mean to... I mean, I didn't know. Sorry about that…" Lan apologized.
"No, that's all right. You didn't know," Mamoru replied.
"Lan!" Maylu's voice called before they looked to see the red-head approach, wearing a pink version of Lan's outfit with a green hat resembling a lily pad on her head and a rose-red robe over it to hide her tail, "There you are!"
"Oh, hi, Maylu," Lan waved, "Mamoru, this is Maylu, Maylu Sakurai."
"Hey~! What about me?" Roll asked.
"And that's Roll," Megaman introduced, "Roll, Maylu, this is Mamoru Ura."
"Mamoru?" Maylu pondered.
"Aw~He looks adorable!"
"I-I'm not all that special…" Mamoru blushed.
"Mamoru? Oh! A nurse was looking for you," Maylu noted, "Something about a test…"
"Oh, that... OK, I'll go back now," Mamoru sighed, "Before I go though... Can we talk a little
Longer?" he looked up at them with big eyes, "You don't mind, do you?"
"No problem!" Lan grinned, "So…do you have a NetNavi?"
"Uh-huh, but…they have a really important job, so they can't be around all the time," Mamoru replied, "I hope I can introduce you to them!"
"Them?" Maylu repeated.
"Papa said they and…andro…andro-genius?"
"Androngynous?" Roll asked.
"Yes, that!" Mamoru smiled, "Thank you, Ms. Roll!"
"Oh he's just too precious…" Roll whispered, fidgeting now, 'I really wanna have that breakdown between the worlds again, minus the radiation, so I can just snatch him up and give him a hug!'
A rather strong breeze hit after that and Maylu yelped as she lost her hat while trying to push down her robe.
"Ah…" Mamoru gasped, seeing her ears.
"Ah…Uh, well…guess you know what we're in the hospital for…" Lan sheepishly noted as he took his own off.
"E-Ears?" Mamoru pondered, tilting his head.
"Tails, too," Megaman sighed, "My fault entirely."
"Mega, no. It was something no one was expecting," Roll argued, "No one is at fault."
'I beg to differ…' Maylu thought in slowly increasing anger.
"Um…M-Ms. Maylu?" she looked down at Mamoru as he fidgeted, "A-Are those really real?"
"...Well…Y-Yeah," Maylu replied, "Apparently, they're calling a vet to see how far this change is."
"C-Could I, um…t-touch one?" Mamoru asked, blushing.
"Mmm…" Maylu blushed before sighing as she sat down and leaned her head to let him better see them, "Just no pulling, okay?"
"They're really soft," Lan noted as Mamoru tentatively reaching out and lightly stroked one with a finger before slowly scratching the back of the ear.
"?!" Maylu tensed as she slumped against it, leaning a bit into the hand before purrs started to escape as her tail swayed behind her, "Hmmm~"
"She's purring?" Roll gawked.
"That's new," Megaman noted, blinking a few times.
"It's a good way to get her to calm down when she starts getting upset," Lan noted, scratching her other ear.
"Mmmm~" Maylu mewled, "Stop it~ No fair~"
Lan and Mamoru kept on petting and Lan began to tell Mamoru about how this happened. The six-year-old couldn't help but awe at the tale, especially with Megaman fighting a giant monster and blowing it up with blue lightning. Eventually, the two stopped and Maylu leaned against Lan's leg, panting a little with a blush on her face with her eyes half-opened.
"I have to go see Ms. Kara for my test now," Mamoru noted, turning his wheelchair around and showing a strange green emblem resembling a 'U' made from a circle, "It was really great to meet you, Ms. Maylu, Mr. Lan!"
"Hey, hey. None of that Mr or Mrs stuff," Lan assured, "It's just Lan and Maylu, okay? We're friends, after all."
"Really…Lan? Maylu?" Mamoru pondered before smiling, "Thanks!"
"We're up on the fifth floor if you ever wanna come see us. We're probably gonna be here for a bit," Lan noted.
"Okay! I'm on the second floor if you wanna visit me," Mamoru replied.
"Sure! We'd be glad to visit!" Lan beamed, "And maybe when your doctor says it's okay and your Navi is here, we can NetBattle!"
"?!" Mamoru froze for a moment, barely seen from the back of his wheelchair, "...Yeah. All right. I gotta go now."
"I hope Mamoru gets better soon," Megaman noted.
"Same here! He was just so sweet and adorable and ooh! I just wanna give him hugs for days!" Roll swooned.
"Yeah…" Lan agreed before kneeling down and gently shaking Maylu, "Maylu…Maylu, he left."
"H-h-huh? Whuzzat?" Maylu blinked a few times, snapping out of her stupor, "Wh-What? Ah!" she pouted, "No fair ganging up on me!"
"Sorry, sorry. It was just really cute and you really do have some soft ears," Lan noted, making her blush, "We should probably head back up to the room. Oh! And Mamoru's staying on the second floor if we ever want to visit."
"R-Really? Alright," Maylu replied as Lan helped her up before he grabbed her hat and gave it back to her.
"Guess these things aren't all that bad, huh?" Lan noted.
"M-Maybe…" Maylu muttered as she put her hat back on and tucked her tail back under her robe while Lan put his on, "W-We should get back before that veterinarian shows up to look at our new things. Plus, it's almost time for the nurses to bring our meals."
"Ech," Lan stuck his tongue out, "It tastes terrible…"
"You could always get something from the vending machine."
"And risk setting off that alarm for the bonus vend? No thanks!" Lan replied, cringing at the mere thought.
"Oh right…" Maylu cringed.
"Yeah…That is a bit of a pain," Roll cringed, "We've been doing a lot of training to deal with loud noises." she giggled, "Mega kept curling up into a tiny ball when we first started to do stuff to deal with it."
"Roll~!" Megaman whined, blushing.
"You looked so cute from the pictures Dr. Hikari took!"
"Oh, I gotta see those," Lan snickered.
"Lan, no! Roll, please don't show them!"
"Imma show 'em!"
"Roll, no! Please don't!"
"Um…Why are you scratching her ear?" the vet asked as he looked over Maylu.
"Preventative measures," Lan replied, scratching Maylu's ear.
"Oh, I see…" the vet noted, blinking a few times before finishing his examination on the red-head, "Hmm…I'll be honest, you four are an anomaly to all fields of medical science, but it doesn't seem that these are causing you any difficulty. There's no signs of pain, your bones are rather strong. None of you are even dealing with an issue with your center of gravity almost as if you were born with these. I would suggest being careful on seeing any mental changes in all of you, however."
"Huh?"
"The instincts of the animals you're now mixed with may start affecting your personalities," he advised, "You may not notice it yourselves, but others will. Especially with you three…" he gestured to Maylu, Chaud, and Sean, "You may start 'communicating' using tail movements instead of being verbal at times."
"..." the three nodded.
"Now then, you're all going to need to get some preventative shots for things such as rabies and…" he began before sweatdropping as Chaud and Sean barely tackled and grabbed Lan as he started to struggle with both and trying to escape, "...There's always one that hates the shots…"
"Hmm…" Maylu rubbed her chin before kneeling down to Lan, reached out, and started to scratch his left ear.
"?!" Lan froze before slumping with a small smile and closed eyes.
"Well, well," Maylu giggled, "Now I have a way to get you to cool it."
"Hurry with those shots," Chaud advised, "Start with him before he snaps out of it."
"Um…R-Right," the vet nodded.
"This data is amazing."
Dr. Hikari looked up from his computer to a man beside him. He had his brown hair spiked up with his eyes hidden behind a pair of red-rimmed sunglasses. Underneath his large lab coat was a red and yellow t-shirt with a '35' on it. Red, fingerless gloves were over hands that swiftly and gracefully danced over the keyboard of the monitor beside Dr. Hikari's, showing several charts, graphs, and lines of coding. Their owner moved back from it, exposing gray slacks and orange running shoes with zippers all over them.
"And this was all from what could be recovered from analyzing those kids and their NetNavis, Yuichiro?" he asked.
"Yes, Famous. It's also the data from scans we were able to get before the radiation overwhelmed it all," Dr. Hikari replied, "If we could manage to replicate it without the radiation, it may be possible to reverse the StyleChange for the kids."
"Hmm…a breakdown between dimensions…" Famous noted, "A 'Dimensional Area' perhaps?"
Yuichiro nodded, "A perfect name for the phenomenon that happened."
"Though there's another issue with them. Keeping them stuck in the hospital won't keep things secret. People will eventually talk," Famous advised.
"They'll talk if we send the kids to their houses and I have no clue where Sean could go," Yuichiro replied.
"...I have some property I haven't used in years," Famous noted, "Over in Green Hills."
"Green Hills? I haven't been there since high school. How's it looking?"
"Still pretty much large amounts of land. The property has a forest with a modest lake. With how far out it is, no one would really see them while they have those traits," Famous noted.
"Haruka has said that she's been feeling crowded in town lately," Yuichiro admitted, rubbing his chin in thought, "...Is it alright for us to use it until the kids are cured?"
"Of course," Famous replied, "In all honesty, you're more than welcome to keep it. I'll send you the paperwork later."
"Thank you," Yuichiro thanked.
"Though…I am worried about one thing," Famous noted.
"Hm?"
"What was with that energy pulse Megaman released? And why did it shoot off into space like that?"
"I'm…not sure, to be honest. Whatever it was, it was strong enough to destroy that pseudo-Cybeast and overcharged the ChangeBATCH to affect all of them," Yuichiro replied, "Of everyone that had been there, only two people and their NetNavis were able to avoid being hit because they were able to get out of range. Chaud and Maylu were unlucky because they were only a few feet away from it when the pulse went off." he looked at the photo taken from the ISS of the lightning-like beam of blue energy shooting into space, "As for why it did that…I'm unsure. I just hope it doesn't hit anyone."
A teaspoon filled with garlic powder turned, dropping its contents into a steamy mug of coffee, its cup gunmetal with the emblem of a round face with goggles over the eyes and a large mustache. A white gloved hand slowly stirred the powder into the drink, letting it dissolve into the black drink. A soft sigh escaped the lips of the hand's owner. His long pointed nose sniffed the drink and he took a sip, easily avoiding his large bushy orange mustache. The drink was spat out as several monitors began to beep and wail.
"Wh-What?!" the man gasped, adjusting his small blue circular glasses as his long arms covered in a red, white, and gold lab coat-like jacket zipped up fully shot out and began to type away at several keyboards, "An energy signature just shot by Mobius! Let's see…what's this? …Oh…Ohh…! Oh-hohohoho~! So that's where you've been! So you didn't die…you were knocked into another Zone!" he grinned widely, "It took you a whole year to figure out a way to send out a message, but you should've done better in hiding it! I hope you're ready…Sonic."
GT: I'll be entirely honest with you folks. Doing this project has been…honestly uplifting on my spirits. This whole month has been a ton of fun and excitement. I'll still be working on these stories that I've posted and you can expect more things to be drawn. Thanks to everyone who's enjoyed Mega May!
