Dust 'Til Dawn (Night)
When Ruby kicked a guy out a window, she expected his teammates to retaliate. What she didn't expect was what followed that.
When Torchwick and his goons exited the store to confront Ruby, a feral roar resounded through the area. Everyone present looked up to find a blue dragon with red wings flying down and landing between Ruby and her assailants. A closer look revealed that a person was riding the creature.
"Oh, what's this now?" Torchwick asked, annoyed.
"Nice to see you too." the person riding the dragon said to the man, dismounting the beast. Once they got a better look at the stranger, Torchwick and Ruby's eyes widened. It was a teenage girl. She had black hair ending in red tips, wore an orange and blue-colored uniform with a red cape flowing behind her, and had clear silver eyes. In short, she looked like a carbon copy of Ruby if she wore different clothes. The stranger looked at the aspiring Huntress, then gave a smile. "You want some help with this?"
"Um, yes." Ruby said, still in shock. She had never met someone other than her or her mother with silver eyes, let alone a doppelganger of her.
"Then let's get this started! Salamence, into the air! Then use Zen Headbutt!" the newcomer shouted, prompting the dragon to take flight. The beast's forehead began to glow bright purple as it rammed into one of Torchwick's men, sending him flying into a nearby building. Seeing that she was surrounded, the dragon's master started to laugh. "Now, Salamence! Use Incinerate!" The dragon opened its mouth, launching orbs of flame at each of the remaining grunts and knocking them all unconscious.
'Woah.' Ruby thought to herself as she dispatched a few more grunts. This girl, whoever she was, was incredible.
"Well, this has been fun, but it's time to cut our little encounter short." Torchwick said, aiming his weapon at Ruby.
"No!" the other girl yelled. Salamence flew in front of Ruby to protect her from the blast.
"Thanks for that." Ruby said to the dragon, who only gave a soft growl in response.
"He's running away." the stranger said, watching as Torchwick ran up an emergency ladder. "Salamence, can you carry us up there?" The dragon grinned before lowering itself.
As Torchwick stepped into his escape vehicle, he watched in exasperation as Salamence flew in front of the craft with Ruby and the mystery girl on its back. "Can you please deal with this!?" the man asked his benefactor.
As the black-haired woman stepped into their view, the gazes of Salamence and its handler hardened. "Ruby, jump onto the roof." the girl instructed. "You can shoot at the craft from there with Crescent Rose."
Before Ruby could ask how she knew the name of her weapon, their opponent blasted Salamence with a torrent of flames. The impact knocked the humans onto the roof with lightly damaged Auras. "Quick, defend using Incinerate!" the strange girl shouted. The dragon shot several orbs of fire from its mouth, colliding with the flame attacks coming from its opponent.
Ruby took the opportunity to shift her weapon into rifle mode and shot at the aircraft. The constant attacks from her and Salamence forced Torchwick and his compatriot to retreat. Just as the thieves made their escape, someone else arrived at the rooftop.
City Jail (Night)
"Do you two have any idea how much trouble you're in?" Goodwitch asked the two silver-eyed girls in the room. She had to admit, she didn't expect to see another person with silver eyes, especially one that looked so similar to Summer's daughter. Did she have another kid nobody knew about?
"We had to do something!" the unknown girl said. From the surveillance footage, Goodwitch knew that she had a dragon-like creature at her command. Where it was now, she had no idea.
"If it were up to me, you'd both be sent home with a pat on the back..." Goodwitch watched as the mystery girl put her arm in front of Ruby, as if anticipating the huntress' feint. "And a slap on the wrist." In the end, she decided against it. "But there is someone who wants to meet you both."
After Goodwitch finished speaking, Ozpin walked into the room with a plate of cookies in his hand. "Ruby Rose." the gray-haired man said as he sat down in front of the two girls. "Tell me, where did you two learn to do this?" he asked, bringing out a Scroll and playing footage of the battle.
"Signal Academy." Ruby said.
"To be honest, my big brother helped me with training Salamence." the strange girl admitted. "At first, it wouldn't even listen to me."
"Interesting." Ozpin said, thinking. "Miss Rose, you say that Signal Academy taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons in history?" Ruby and the mystery girl both rapidly put cookies into their own mouths. "It's just, there's only one other scythe wielder I've ever met with that skill."
Choking down the cookies in her gullet, Ruby shouted "That's my Uncle Qrow!" Ozpin did not miss the fond smile on the other girl.
"What made someone like you want to join a school for warriors?" the professor asked, already knowing.
"I want to be a huntress." Ruby said. "I only have two years left at Signal, and then it's off to Beacon!"
"And what about you?" Ozpin asked the girl's doppelganger. "Why did you decide to defend Miss Rose?"
"Heh, funny story." the girl said, sheepish. She got out a Scroll that was displaying a photo of Ruby's family, including Qrow and two boys with hair colors similar to Ruby and her sister. The only thing that struck out as odd was the date. According to the Scroll, the picture was taken a full five years in the future. "My name is Ruby Rose, and I'm from an alternate future." R!Ruby said, giving a humorless laugh.
Meanwhile, the Ruby from this timeline fainted from shock.
AN: I chose Salamence for Ruby because of its wing shape and the fact that two of her siblings have a last name that literally translates to dragon. Also, characters not from this timeline will have a "R!" at the front of their names to set them apart from their counterparts. Please Review and tell me what you think of this bizarre idea for a story.
