Chapter 1
"Hey dear can you go to Stormwind to grab me something from the fabric shop please" said my Mother
"Yea what do you need?" I asked
"Just some red fabric" Mother said
"The one with the soft underside?" I asked as I peaked my head around the corner. My mother nodded at me, I went over and I gave her a kiss on the check and told her I would be back shortly. She smiled for the first time in days.I put on my shoes and walked out the door. I passed by the barn, I wanted to see how my horse was doing. His lag was pretty cut up after something tried to attack him. My dad said it might have been a small dog, and he will be okay. After I checked on Dudley { my horse } I headed into the city. I swear I get lost at the same turn as I walk into Stormwind.
"The fabric shop this way , right" I thought as I walked right into somebody, " oh I'm so sorry" I said as I looked at the blonde haired boy. The boy was really nicely dressed in beautifully embroidered clothing with golden thread, with a brown clock over it. People of higher class don't come down this far into town. They normally stay in the higher class side town where the guards are regularly stationed. He seemed surprised that I didn't see him "No it's okay you didn't see me" he said as he chuckled
"You look familiar, do I know you from somewhere?" I asked as I was looking at him for a little while. "I look like a lot of people," he said as he laughed nervously. He stuck his hand out for a handshake "Llane you can call me Llane" he said.
" Llane" I said as shaked his hand
"It's nice to meet you" I said as I walked past him. He looked down at his hand,
"Wait, aren't you forgetting to tell me?" he asked as he turned around and started following me.
" No not that I know of" I said as I walked down though town, wondering if he was ever going to stop talking.
"Oh you know your name? Or something I can call you by…" he said as he's trying to catch up to me
"My name is not important" I said as I looked over my shoulder. He stopped for a minute, it looked like he was thinking of something.
"Wait up Athal" he said as he was trying to catch up to me
" What did you just call me?" I asked, turning around sharply coming face to face with the blonde haired boy. The boy looked away and said " Athal it means guest or stranger, I didn't mean it as an insult. Sorry'' as he looked at the floor. I looked at Llane and sighed "It's fine, I just got my elvish mixed up." I continued walking down the street as the boy kept walking with me. I walked into the fabric shop " Hey kid it's a little in the week to be seeing you again" the shop keeper said. I giggled and rolled my eyes, and got the fabric that was at the bottom of the shelf. Happy some were still there. The fabric I was looking for was in higher demand for mages because of its magic repelling properties. I got to the amount of fabric that my mom needed and walked to the front to pay
"Is this all?" The shopkeeper asked. I smiled and handed him his money,
" Oh no kid it's in the house, I know you and your family are not doing so well" the keeper said.
"Are you sure? I don't want to take it from your shop, I know this kind of fabric is kinda expensive to make." I ask as he gave me the fabric. He smiled and said
"I know how much a funeral costs, kid, your Brother was a good person". We gave my brother a hero's Barrier, he died because of one little mistake in communication so did other great soldiers the King just blamed on the Horde like it was not his fault. I was thinking to myself as I walked out of the shop to see that Llane was still there. Does he just follow people for fun or?
"You're still here," I said, a little confused. He smiled
,"I had to lead some people away from us, I didn't want you to get hurt," Llane said as he turned to let me pass. My brother had the same outlook that Llane had, he was always happy and proud of all the achievements him and his colleagues got. Always looking out for others but not himself.
"So do you just like to follow people for fun?" I asked as I walked towards the flower shop.
"No you just are interesting to me and i'm just walking around" he said as he walked beside me. We walked down the street , we walked into the flower store. I walked to the left of the flower stand
"Where are they?" I whispered
" What did you say ?" he asked as he turned his head.
"Just some flowers that my brother liked," I said as I looked around.
"What kind of flowers?" Llane asked as he followed me. I pointed at an elvish flower on one of the stands. The flower was a light blue on the inside with a bark black underside. The flower was of medium size and softly smelled of elder trees.
"It's like this one but yellow and orange with a reddish stem." I said as I continued to look for the flower I was looking for.
"I know what flower you're talking about," he said as he checked over his shoulder. We looked for what felt like forever
"FOUND IT" Llane shouted across the store
"Really!" I shouted running towards him. He was holding the yellow flower with a soft smile.
"May I ask you, why is the flower warm?" he stammered out
"Mages use them for fire magic, the flower will set itself on fire to keep it warm in the cold months. My brother just liked the way they looked." I said as I walked to the front of the store. Llane seems to be confused on how the flower sets itself on fire.
"So it has magic," Llane asked as I nodded. Llane hums in approval, we walked down though town into the nicer side of town. I noticed that Llane put his hood on, also the guards were more on the lookout
"What did you do?" I whispered as we stopped to let the guards though
"I didn't do anything" he said as he pulled down his hood further, he grabbed my wrist and wove me though town avoiding all the guards, out to the front gates
"Okay what the heck is going on?" I asked as I ripped my wrist out of his hand. He looks at me as he takes off his hood as he looks at the floor.
"Sorry I panicked," Llane said
"Panicked?" I nearly shouted but
"My family is kinda a big thing, I don't get out much" Llane said as he rubbed the back of his neck. I softly put my hand to my face and sighed
"I can tell you don't get out much" I said with a blank expression on my face. Starting to regret going into town, I started walking home Llane followed with a smile on his face. We walked into my home town, he seemed amazed. I laughed at him. It seemed that he was telling the truth. He watched the kids run around along with the fishermen pulling up the nets. I watched him as we walked through town and slowly came up to the cemetery. We stopped at the gates. I opened them and walked in not noticing that he wasn't following me any more. I walked towards the back of the graveyard, with a sigh I put the flowers down. A gravestone might for a hero, relit the Lavender candle and fix the picture my mom put down a few days ago. I looked down at the picture as I cleaned it off from all the dust it gathered up as I held the frame in my hand releasing that it was the picture that my mom got before he got deployed for the first time.
