Numair crafts his marriage in reverse and mostly by accident.

"Magelet, is this about the boy, the Magpie or the horses?" Mutely, she held up her necklace for him to see. The badger claw. There was a tiny metal ring, warped enough that it was no longer a perfect circle, also tied to the leather strap. A charm had once hung there and now did not. Set in an AU four years after ROTG.

Numair was silent for a long moment. "You said that the notion, however laughable it may be, that I don't find you attractive doesn't bother you 'anymore'". The smile slid off of her face like a shutter slamming shut. "I guess that is what I said."

Numair reunites with Daine in the Grimhold Mountains where a village is in need of assistance to fight back the dangers of the windswept north. In their effort to offer aid they'll find out if they're the heroes they've been made out to be, and be forced to confront fears that have built year by year. Post-RotG AU where they have not become romantically involved.

Set between the prologue and first chapter of ROTG (because I don't feel there is enough written during this time). This will be a series of one shots about Daine and Numair realizing they are in love. I am not sure how many chapters this will be yet.

[AU] This is a story base in modern times. Daine is a wildlife expert that never thought much for the human race and neither did she bother to involve herself with them unless it concerns the animals. However she will find that Fate has something more install for her life than she could imagine.
