Pallet Town
We begin in the region of Kanto more specifically in Pallet Town where a trainer who had woken up on time got ready to retrieve his first ever Pokemon!
Inside the Oak Residence
His bedroom was pretty simple. There was a wooden bookshelf that sat against the right wall, next to the door that leads to the closet. A desk that was positioned against the back wall, below the window. And finally, his bed against the left wall nearer the door. On the bookshelf, there sat one half of a Pokè ball sat upon it, next to an alarm clock, and a television set, sat underneath the top shelf. Some books neatly stood together, on the shelf.
Speaking of Gary, the boy climbed out of bed, ready to start his journey as a trainer. He got dressed, wearing a long purple shirt, gray pants, brown boots with black straps, and a yellow yin and green yang necklace, that usually sits next to the TV. He thoroughly combed his brown hair, picking up his half of the Pokè ball, as well as his bag. Place the half piece into the bag and set out downstairs, towards the kitchen.
Inside the kitchen is a nice table, a couple of wooden chairs and kitchen appliances such as a toaster, microwave and oven. Gary pulled open a cupboard, found the loaf of bread. He had decided to have toast for breakfast this morning. After finishing his quick breakfast, he washed his plate, then went to brush his teeth. When he was done, he grabbed his bag, stepped outside, locked the door, and left for his grandpa's lab.
Gary walked down the dirt road, with a forest area on the left side. Up ahead, down the road, and off to the left, stood a gate leading up towards Oaks lab. An opening of the gate and a few hundred steps later, he was at the door, and knocked.
Oak's Lab
"Hey Gramps! Open up! It's me, Gary!" Gary shouted happily through the door, and stepped back when he heard an old voice saying he was coming.
Professor Oak, an old man wearing a lab coat with gray hair, who also happened to be Gary's grandpa, opened the lab door for his grandson. "Well, good morning, Gary my boy," he greeted with a smile.
"Hey, gramps," says the young trainer, ready to receive his starting pokemon.
"You're on time, I see. That's wonderful," Professor Oak commented, and led his grandson inside. The lab is made of two floors, inside the entrance is a hallway painted white, alongside the metallic flooring. Some doors lined the hall, and to the left, is a chest of drawers, and a stairway to the second floor of the lab.
Professor Oak led his grandson to the large research room upstairs. Upon entering, there are several machines that occupied most of the room. However, the most important one to Gary, was the machine in the middle of the room. It came up to Gary's chest in height, with a glass like dome on top of it. And within it, sat three pokèballs labeled with a sticker of fire, grass, and water on them. One would be his first Pokémon.
"You're the 3rd trainer to arrive here to receive their Pokemon. The other 2 trainers had arrived earlier, and picked up their chosen Pokemon. I believe that would make your pick much easier, as it was the one Pokemon you wanted, my boy. When this Pokemon has accepted you, then your journey has begun, Gary," he spoke with the wisdom of someone in his age group.
Gary had at first, looked at his grandfather in shock at hearing two other trainers had beaten him here and already claimed their Pokemon of choice. However, he gained a smile when understanding the last part of his grandpa's words. Breathing out a sigh of relief, he set his sights on the Pokè ball with a water droplet sticker stuck to it. As the glass dome opened, he reached in and grabbed the ball.
"Thanks grandpa! This is just the Pokemon I wanted, after thinking it over for quite a while," Gary clicked the button, and pointed the ball away from him. "Come out, Squirtle!"
In a bright red light, the tiny turtle Pokèmon, Squirtle, appeared. "Squirtle squirt!" it exclaimed, cheerfully, before looking up at its new trainer.
"You'll be coming with me on a journey of a lifetime, to become the strongest trainer. A Pokemon Master. Are you with me, Squirtle?" he asked, with a confident smirk.
The water type returned the smirk and nodded. It too showed not only its own confidence, but a serious side too.
"Then it's decided. Gary, you take good care of Squirtle" Professor Oak said with a smile. He then handed over a Pokèdex, after his grandson returned his starter Pokèmon into its pokèball.
"Thanks. Just you wait. I'll become the best trainer ever from the Town of Pallet, and make you proud! See ya gramps!" Gary said, and left the lab.
Outside the Lab
After leaving the lab, and making his way down stairs, thinking of how he should go about his journey, he failed to notice that by the time he had gotten pass the gate, someone had run into him. Luckily he was still standing, and was going to round on the person. Only to see that the person was seated on the ground.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!" Upon seeing that it was none other than the loser, Ash Ketchum, who had just arrived late. "Well, well, look who finally had arrived," he snickered at Ash.
"It's not funny, Gary. My alarm clock just stopped working," the boy now known as Ash tried to explain, while standing back up..
This caused Gary to smirk. "That happens to be 'Mister Gary' to you. Show some respect. Well, Ashy-boy, you snooze you loose, and you're way behind from the start." he taunted the raven haired kid, while taking out his starter's Poke ball, and twirling it on his index finger. "I already got my starter Pokèmon and you don't."
"Which one did you choose, Gary?" Ash asked, hoping that he hadn't taken Squirtle.
A black car then pulled up to the side of the two boys, and it was filled with cheerleaders cheering for Gary. "None of your business! If you'd have shown up on time, you'd know I've got the best Pokémon from Professor Oak! It's nice to have a grandfather in the business isn't it? See you, Ashy-boy!" Gary smirked, then walked past Ash, to the car.
The boy had his door opened by his driver in which Gary slid onto the seat surrounded by his chanting cheerleaders "Gary, Gary, he's our guy!"
As the car pulls on down the road, heading towards the exit of Pallet Town, Gary watches Ash disappear from view, from the rear view mirror.
"Where to Master Gary?" the driver asked, keeping his eye on the road ahead.
"To Viridian City," Gary responds, looking forward to seeing what the Kanto Region had to offer outside of Pallet Town.
"Right away sir," the driver responded, and drove them out of Pallet Town.
Viridian City
It didn't take long for Gary to reach Viridian City. Once they had found a suitable parking space, near the west point of entry to the city, Gary had gotten out of the car stretching his legs.
"I'm going to catch some pokèmon. I shouldn't be too long," he nonchalantly says.
Outside Viridian City
He wandered the path, west of the city. Looking around, he mentally went over what he remembered about Pokemon hanging around cities and towns.
'The grass was pretty tall, that came up to his waist, a perfect place for wild Pokemon to hide in, such as Rattata, Nidoran, Mankey, Pidgey and Spearow,' he surmised. Pushing some grass out of the way, he spotted a Nidoran male.
It noticed Gary as well, and stood its ground, preparing to attack. Growling out a challenge. One that Gary smirked, and threw out his starter's ball in response.
"Alright Squirtle go!"
Squirtle jumped out the ball, landing on his feet ready to battle. "Squirtle!" His eyes brimming with as much confidence as its trainer.
"Use tackle!" Gary called out, causing the tiny turtle to crash into the nidoran male.
It rolls back to its feet, shaking the hit off. "nido ni!" Nidoran got into a lower striking position, and charged at Squirtle with a horn attack.
"Squirtle, counter attack with a tackle!" Gary called out quickly, wishing to keep on the offensive.
The two pokèmon collided, and struggled against each other for dominance. It soon became clear, when Squirtle won that clash, knocking down Nidoran. Before Nidoran could get back to his feet, a Pokè ball had been thrown, connecting with his head. The ball shook 3 times, before a clicking sound was heard. Signaling that the Pokemon had been caught.
"Good battle, Squirtle. I knew you could do it," Gary said, returning a smirk to his smirking Squirtle. "Come on. Let's catch some more."
Gary had stayed on the route putting in the work with his Squirtle and newly acquired Nidoran male. Soon, catching a Rattata,Spearow, Pidgey and Mankey. He also took the time to get friendly with his Pokèmon.
"Good job, Rattata. Those Spearow didn't know what hit them!" He looked to the sky, and saw that the sun was beginning to set. Turning back to his Pokemon, he said, "You have all done enough training for the day. Time to go to the pokèmon center." With that, he returned his 6 mons, and headed back to the car.
Once he arrived, he told the driver to take them to the Pokèmon Center.
