Jamie had been led back up the stairs and to the second level of the house where Eddie was. He now found himself in front of his and Eddie's door to their room. One of the guards opened up the door and shoved Jamie inside. The guard then abruptly shut the door.

"I found some tunnels under the basement… I think…"

He stopped short of finishing his conversation as he saw Eddie in the bed groaning. His eyes widened as the monitors beeped.

"Jess, honey? It's time, isn't it?"

Eddie whimpered and shook her head no. Rubbing her belly with her left hand, she pointed at Jamie with her right.

"No. I'm ok. It's just Braxton-Hick's contractions. It's still a little early."

Jamie furrowed his eyebrows and kept watching the machines. He watched as Eddie buried her face into the pillow and let out a scream. Shaking his head he kept watching the machines.

"I hate to break it to you Jess, but I don't think this is false labor."

As the machine's went back to its rhythmic pace, Eddie unburied her head from her pillow and looked down by her feet covered by the blanket and the sheet.

"Ben, my feet, I can't move them…"

Jamie got concerned, pushing back the blanket and sheet covering her feet. Inwardly, he felt his nose begin to flare.

"Who put the restraints back on your ankles?"

Eddie winced as Jamie carefully removed them. He could see the beginnings of rub marks against both her ankles. Jamie rubbed them and moved her legs slightly. His eyebrows shot up as he got a look at the sheet below Eddie. He felt all the color drain from his face.

"Ed, you're bleeding."

Now it was Eddie's turn to get concerned and turn pale.

"What? What's going on?"

Jamie's mind was in overdrive. He needed to get Doctor Matthews back in the room right now. Just as Jamie was reaching for the door handle, the door opened and in walked Doctor Matthews. It was as if she'd read his mind. He knew that just wasn't possible though.

"Erica, something's wrong. Jess was in a lot of pain and then there was a gush of blood… What's going on?"

Doctor Matthews frowned and pushed the blanket and the sheet back a little further. The frown stayed plastered on her face.

"This was what I was afraid of happening. She's had an abruption. The placenta has detached. Jessica is going to need a C-section."

Jamie paled once more.

"Where are we going to do that? We don't have any place really sterile to perform one. You'll have to walk me through it. It's been quite some time."

Jamie said the last part with emphasis in case the guards outside the door were listening. Doctor Matthews went up by Eddie's head and put a hand on her shoulder, trying her best to calm her fears.

"Jessica, I know this is really scary, but Ben and I are going to help you ok? I want you to keep breathing. Part of the placenta detached. What you thought was your water breaking was actually blood. You're going to need a C-section. I want you to lie still on your left side. Take a deep breath in and let it out slowly. There you go. That's it."

Swallowing, Jamie's mind was in overdrive. He went over to Eddie's side and took her hands in his and kissed both of them.

"I'm right here sweetheart. I'm not going anywhere."

He leaned down towards her mouth, and she whispered in his ear.

"Jamie, I'm scared."

Jamie then whispered in Eddie's ear.

"I know Ed. I am too. But you know what? I'm going to help Officer Lancaster bring our baby into the world safely. That's a promise. She's going to give you something to make you sleep now. I'll be right here when you wake up."

Now it was Doctor Matthew's turn to blow out a breath and look towards the dresser. She looked at the top drawer. She'd have to dig through it and find what she needed. Jamie looked up at Doctor Matthews and asked his question.

"How do you want to do this?"

Doctor Matthews kept the frown on her face but the wheels in her head were turning.

"I have anesthetic, but we have no Anesthesiologist. If we were in a hospital, this would easily be resolved in the operating room. But we're not."

Now the wheels were turning in Jamie's head.

"We have Chloroform, don't we?"

Doctor Matthews nodded her head slowly.

"Yes…"

Jamie nodded his head in agreement.

"Ok, where is it?"

Doctor Matthews pointed towards the bathroom.

"It's under the sink. Wash your hands first."

Jamie closed his eyes and then nodded his head.

"Right."

Opening them he went into the bathroom and opened the cupboard under the sink. There was the bottle he was looking for on the shelf. Glancing out the bathroom door, he saw Doctor Matthews trying to soothe a very nervous Eddie.

"It's ok Jessica. We'll get your baby out. We'll keep them safe. You have my word."

Jamie felt his hands shaking as he brought out the bottle of chloroform with him. Doctor Matthews pointed to a tray off to the side of the bed.

"Here?"

She nodded and went to go scrub in the bathroom. Jamie did the only thing he could think of, time was of the essence. Their baby's life as well as Eddie's was at stake right now. He wasn't about to lose both of them. As he was about to go for the door, Doctor Matthews came out of the bathroom and looked him in the eye.

"Open the top drawer. In there you will find a tray tightly wrapped in plastic and sealed inside a tv tray sized container. Pull it out and place it on that table next to the bed. Use an alcohol wipe to open up the door, get the guards to bring as many nurses as they can in here. We need a lot of help."

Jamie nodded and did what Doctor Matthews asked.

"We need more help in here! We need some more nurses! It's an emergency! My wife and baby are in trouble! Please!"

Jame kept the desperation out of his voice as best he could. But he felt like it was seeping through. It wasn't long before eight nurses showed up each taking turns at the sink in the bathroom and helping each other into surgical gowns and masking up and putting gloves on one another. Jamie felt a pit grow in his stomach. While everything else had been going on he hadn't noticed Eddie had been put under. She was asleep. He hoped that it wasn't too late.

She was so still. He found that the bed was completely flat, and Eddie was on her back. He sent up a silent prayer up above. He stood and tried to control his breath as a nurse handed Doctor Matthews a scalpel. He felt like he was holding his breath as he watched as Doctor Matthews made the first incision.

"Ok, skin to baby in less than 60 seconds. Through the muscle. Ok. Use those retractors and pull."

Swallowing once more, Jamie did what Doctor Matthews asked. He furrowed his eyebrows when all he could see was red. Three nurses began soaking up the blood with a bunch of gauze. He'd never seen a C-section before. Especially not one his wife was going through. Doctor Matthews looked at Jamie.

"Let's get this beautiful baby into the world. Follow my lead."

Jamie nodded again and let out a breath. It took another thirty seconds before two sets of hands emerged with a screaming little boy in tow. Jamie felt tears come to his eyes. He and Eddie had a son. Patrick.
