Star Gazers
Chapter 11: Battle of New York
Rosalie opened her eyes as she looked at her surroundings.
The view of the palace was in full view from the small village; the smell of a nearby waterfall filled the air.
The warm sunlight cast a golden reddish glow upon the small balcony that belonged to a grand room of a royal palace.
"Where am I?"Rosalie murmured.
Suddenly, an infant's cry was heard, earning Rosalie's attention.
Rosalie then saw she was in some kind of nursery room that looked sort of grand.
She slowly made her way to the cradle and saw an infant inside it.
The infant appeared to be rosy-cheeked with a tuft of light brown hair. She was wrapped in white swaddling clothes and covered with a red blanket.
Who was this baby?
Rosalie suddenly backed away when she heard someone approaching.
The female infant started gurgling as a woman picked her up from her cradle and placed her in her arms.
The mother smiled as her daughter started playing with the curls of her hair.
Despite not knowing where she was or who were the people in front of her, Rosalie couldn't help but smile at the sight.
However, the scene suddenly changed, Rosalie found herself in some kind of dark hallway and saw showing shadows of dangerous-looking beings as the infant's crying was heard in the background.
"Guards! Guards! My child!"
"Somebody help her!"
Rosalie gasped in shock as darkness suddenly engulfed around her and she was later consumed in it.
(Stark Tower)
Loki made his way to the balcony of Stark Tower while Rosalie met Erik on the roof with the Tesseract.
Erik looked up from his computer and took notice of Rosalie's presence.
"Rosalie, didn't think I'd see you here."Erik responded.
"Greetings, Dr. Selvig."Rosalie replied as Erik continued to type."Is the Tesseract almost ready?"
"She'll be running in a couple of minutes."Erik admitted as he turned his gaze to the Tesseract inside the machine."Then, she will show us the beauty, the truth."
Rosalie glanced at the city below.
Everyone was going about their daily routines.
No one seemed to know what was going to come.
Loki held his sceptre as he went to next Rosalie to look at the view of New York City.
"It's almost time, Loki."Rosalie complemented.
"Indeed, my dear."Loki agreed with a hint of pride."Soon this world will be grovelling beneath our feet."
Rosalie simply nodded at Loki.
Suddenly, Tony flew in, wearing his iron suit, and hovered above the tower, aiming his hand blasters at Erik.
"Shut it down, Selvig!"Tony ordered.
"She can't stop now! She wants to show us something!"Erik explained, looking up at Iron Man."A new universe!"
Rosalie moved to grab her pistol, but Loki placed his free hand on her shoulder to stall her.
"I'll take care of him."Loki declared.
Without hesitation, Rosalie did as told, turning on her heel and marching inside.
The part-time historian stood across from the bar, back to the seating area situated just behind her.
Soon both Loki and Tony stepped inside as well.
Loki came in from the balcony while Tony came from the landing strip, completely void of his suit.
Tony made eye contact with Rosalie, who just looked at him with a blank expression.
"Please tell me you're going to appeal to my humanity."Loki assumed.
Tony shook his head and paused, making eye contact with the God of Mischief from across the room.
"Uh, actually, I'm planning on threatening you."Tony declared.
Rosalie silently watched as a large smirk appeared on Loki's face.
"You should have left the armour on for that."Loki stated, gesturing to Tony with the tip of his sceptre.
"Yeah… it's seen a bit of mileage. And you've got the uh, glow stick of destiny."Tony complemented as he slipped behind the bar."Would either of you like a drink?"
Loki chuckled and passed the sceptre off from his right hand to his left, shaking his head in amusement.
"Stalling me won't change anything."Loki responded.
"No, no, no, threatening."Tony reminded as he moved his hands to the shelf where his alcoholic beverages were."No drink, you're sure?"
Tony brought his attention on Rosalie.
"What about you, Rosebud?"Tony asked as he picked up a glass cup."I happen to have that Baileys Irish cream liqueur you like so much. Or you're more into whisky today?Want an Eagle Rare 10?"
Rosalie just looked at Tony with a dull expression, showing utter disinterest at his respond.
"Oh well. I'm having one."Tony replied with a shrug and brought his attention on Loki."So, Reindeer Games, what's the catch? Just what do you intend to do with Rosebud? We all sort of wanna know why you turned her into one of your personal flying monkeys like you did with Barton."
Tony took out a tumbler as he looked at Rosalie.
Rosalie's face was utterly emotionless.
Grey and made of stone like a gargoyle above the church door.
To more clearly, her face presented a viper that was ready to wipe out anyone in her way.
"Cause I don't really see her as someone that is eager to betray or hurt her own teammates."Tony clarified.
Loki smirked at Tony.
"You consider Agent Breisgau not dangerous?"Loki questioned."I don't recall that to be true from the files I received of her record."
Tony arched his eyebrows as he placed a tumbler on the bar top.
"I see you've done your homework."Tony answered with a hint of sarcasm."So you intend to use her as some kind of marionette doll and make her do things against her well?"
"Not entirely, Man of Iron."Loki answered as he slowly began to circle Rosalie."Agent Breisgau is a smart, lovely and capable woman. She's so different from the other mindless female creatures that surround your planet. She had proved herself to be my Queen. thing I still desired which all my power could not give me. A woman worthy to be my mate for eternity."
Tony glared at Loki as he took a crystal decanter filled with Old Scotch.
"When you say making Rosebud your so-called Queen, you actually mean making her your personal sex slave against her will."Tony assumed."No offence, Reindeer Games, but I don't think you're her type of guy and I thought you figured that out when she slapped you. How about a drink instead?"
Ignoring whatever tactic the billionaire was attempting to use, Loki grimaced and turned tail to walk towards the window to look at the view of New York City.
Rosalie's gaze followed him but her head stayed facing forward.
"The Chitauri are coming. Nothing will change that."Loki stated arrogantly and turned around to look at Loki."What have I to fear?"
"The Avengers."Tony replied nonchalantly.
Tony opened the stopper out of the decanter.
Loki gave Tony a puzzled look causing the billionaire to roll his eyes a little.
"It's what we call ourselves, sort of like a team."Tony admitted as he poured himself a drink."Earth's Mightiest Heroes type of thing."
"Yes. I've met them."Loki sneered and glanced at Rosalie."And I happen to have one."
Tony gives Loki a fake smile.
"Yeah, It takes us a while to get any traction, I'll give you that one. But let's do a head count here."Tony complemented."Your brother, the demi-god."
Loki hissed lightly at the mention of his older brother.
"A super-soldier that is a living legend who kind of lives up to the legend."Tony continued."A man with breath-taking anger management issues and a couple of master assassins. And you, big fella, have managed to piss off every single one of them."
Tony gestured to Rosalie, who gave him a blank look.
"And no doubt, Rosebud feels the same way deep down."Tony declared.
"That was the plan."Loki remarked smugly.
Tony made a fake wince.
"Not a great plan."Tony declared as he picked up his tumbler and takes a sip from it as he moved away from the small bar."When they come, and they will come, they'll come for you."
"I have an army."Loki pointed out.
"We have a Hulk."Tony admitted.
"I thought the beast had wondered off."Loki commented.
"You're missing the point."Tony retorted with a frown."There is no throne; there is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it's too much for us, but it's all on you."
Tony walked closer to where Loki stood.
"Because if we can't protect the Earth, you can be damned sure we'll avenge it."Tony admitted sternly."And you can be damned sure that if something does happen to Rosebud, all of us, though especially the super soldier, will tear you apart. She's an Avenger too. You mess with her, you mess with all of us."
Tony took another sip of his Old Scotch as Loki slowly stalked towards him.
Rosalie reached for her pistol, but a subtle flick of Loki's hand stopped her from doing so.
"How will your friends have time for me when they're so busy fighting you?"Loki questioned coldly.
The Gungnir does quiet whirring sound as Tony's eyes widened.
The tip of Loki's scepter hit the center of Tony's chest pinging right against the Arc Reactor, but nothing happened.
Loki's cruel smile fell into a look of confusion.
Lifting the Gungnir and dropping it forward again, the same thing happened.
"This usually works."Loki murmured, not understanding why Tony didn't fell under the Mind Stone's influence.
"Well, you know performance issues."Tony remarked sarcastically and pulled a face of false embarrassment."You know, not uncommon. One out of five-"
Tony was cut off as Loki's right hand shot out and grabbed him by the throat.
Using anger to power the throw, Loki tossed Tony a few feet to the left, where he fell to the floor.
Loki smoothly sauntered towards Tony.
Rosalie suddenly felt a splinting headache hit her mind and held her head as her cold electric cobalt eyes were slowly reverting back into their spring blue colour.
The part-time historian rubbed her head as she was suddenly free from Loki's influence.
Before she could wonder what happened, Rosalie's eyes widen in terror when she saw Loki strangling Tony by the throat.
"You'll all fall beneath me!"Loki growled.
Then Loki hurled Tony out the window and sent him plummeting towards the sidewalk below.
Anger started to rise within Rosalie upon seeing the God of Mischief throw one of her friends to his death.
"You sneaky son of a..."Rosalie started.
Suddenly, a door on the other end of the room opened and out shot something red, shiny and jet powered.
Rosalie quickly ducked down as the object shot out and knocked Loki down before it sailed after Tony.
A relieved smile appeared on Rosalie's face when Tony suddenly rushed into view, wearing a brand spanking new Iron man suit.
Loki's eyes gleamed with rage as he went on his feet and glared at the superhero in front of him.
"And there's one other person you nearly pissed off!"Tony exclaimed."His name is Phil!"
Loki prepared to raise the sceptre, but Tony reacted quick and hit him with a shot from his repulsors.
Rosalie quickly made her way to Tony without sparing a glance at Loki.
"You okay, Rosebud?"Tony questioned.
"I'm fine now."Rosalie answered."What about you?"
It was at that moment, the Tesseract's energy beamed into the sky.
Both Tony and Rosalie looked up and followed its bright light as the beam then forms a vortex which opens up another portal.
Dread fills Rosalie's stomach as her eyes widen in horror.
This was it.
This was the war that Nick and Phil desperately tried to avoid.
Not a second passed when the Chitauri Army spilled from the vortex and into New York City.
"Good lord."Rosalie muttered in shock.
"Right, the army. I'm gonna go take care of that, Rosebud."Tony responded and motioned to where Loki lie on the ground."Think you can handle him?"
"With pleasure."Rosalie answered with a smug look.
Tony blasted off into the sky while Rosalie took out her pistol and aimed it at Loki.
Loki jerked his head up, just in time to see Rosalie aim her pistol to his head.
Thinking quick, Rosalie does a jump back as Loki attempted to blast her with his sceptre.
The part-time historian then fired her pistol at Loki, hitting his armour, but neither of the bullets damaged him.
The God of Mischief smirked at Rosalie.
"You should remember your toys don't hurt me, darling."Loki reminded.
Loki unleashed another attack with his sceptre towards Rosalie.
However, Rosalie pressed the black wristband attached on her right wrist to activate a small yet bright grey bird-like shield to block Loki's attack from hurting her.
Instead of looking annoyed, Rosalie gives Loki a rather smug smirk.
"I know, greasy hair."Rosalie remarked."That's why I prepared a few surprises."
Rosalie then removed the shield and tossed it towards Loki and he was sent hitting the wall with a satisfying thump.
Loki's head snapped up in surprise and glared at Rosalie, who pressed her wristband to summon the small shield back to her.
"Don't look so annoyed, dear."Rosalie sneered with a hint of sarcasm."We, female Midgardians, have more common sense and tougher than we appear."
Rosalie moved herself out of the way as Loki shot green fire flames at her with his free hand.
Eventually, the part-time historian had to make a run to the balcony.
A shocked look appeared on Rosalie's face upon seeing people running for their lives as the Chitauri attacking them with blasts from their weapons, sending cars and other debris from buildings flying at them.
"Marvellous, isn't?"
Rosalie turned to glare at Loki, who looked entirely please of what was occurring.
Loki's grip on the sceptre tightened, his Asgardian armour starting to form around him, preparing him for the battle.
"Loki, you should stop this now! You don't have to do this!"Rosalie protested."They're innocent people down there!"
"And?"Loki scoffed.
"This is not a war!"Rosalie snapped angrily."It's a massacre!"
Just then, Thor landed before Rosalie, in between them, cracking the stone beneath his feet from the impact.
"Loki!"Thor shouted."Turn off the Tesseract or I'll destroy it!"
"You can't!"Loki taunted."There is no stopping it. There is only the war!"
"So be it."Thor replied grimly."Lady Rosalie, leave now!"
Rosalie quickly moved away and headed back inside Stark Tower as Thor started fighting against Loki.
She took the elevator to head out of Tony's home to go out and help as much people as she could.
It was terrifying.
Loki holding the whole of New York City hostage with an alien army with innocent people caught in the crossfire.
The soon as the elevator took her to the exit of Stark Tower, Rosalie detached her pistol from her belt as she made her way into the city that was getting destroyed.
After a few minutes and passing a damaged café, she arrived to a street part of New York, where the Quinjet appeared to have crushed in.
To her relief, she saw Natasha, Steve and Clint coming out of it without any injuries or wounds.
"Hey!"Rosalie called out.
Natasha, Steve and Clint turned around and saw Rosalie rushing towards them.
"Rosa."Natasha responded with a relieved smile.
Rosalie and Natasha share a quick yet tight hug.
"Are you okay?"Natasha asked.
"Yeah. I'm fine, Nat. A little shaken, but I'm fine."Rosalie assured and glanced at Clint."Good to have you back, Clint."
"The same with you, Rosa."Clint chuckled.
Rosalie gives Clint a small hug as well before her attention went on Steve, who wore his Captain America suit.
"Hey, Cap."Rosalie greeted.
"Lady Canary."Steve responded with a small smile.
Steve opened his arms and embraced Rosalie as soon as she got close enough to him.
The four heroes brought their attention to Stark Tower that showed the opened portal above it.
"We've gotta get back up there."Steve declared.
The group started running and came to a halt as they heard a giant creaking sound echoing through the city.
They all stared up at the portal to see a Leviathan coming out of the portal.
As it got closer to the ground, Chitauri started jumping from it.
Rosalie's eyes widen in pure disbelief.
"Cher seigneur."Rosalie murmured.
Captain America contacted Iron Man.
"Stark, are you seeing this?"Steve questioned.
"Seeing, still working on believing."Tony replied."Where's Banner as he shown up yet?"
"Banner?"Steve said in confusion.
"Just keep me posted."Tony insisted.
Steve, Rosalie, Clint and Natasha jumped out of the way as a blast came close to where they were standing.
They all crouched down behind cars to assess the damage and the best plan of attack.
"We've got civilians trapped."Clint informed.
Rosalie tried to peer over the taxi to see if the Chitauri had grabbed any hostages in the direction Clint had indicated, only for Steve to pull her back down when Loki, on some sort of flying chariot, flew overhead.
"Loki."Steve retorted with a glare.
Steve glared after the God of Mischief as he went on a spree of blasting anything and everything around him.
Cars were smashed to pieces, people fleeing as fires sprang up for his efforts.
It was clear they were terrified.
"Enough assessing."Rosalie insisted sternly as she stood up from where she was."We need to get into this fight. Innocent people are being injured."
Steve nodded. "They are fish in a barrel down there."
Both Captain America and Lady Canary looked back to the side, hearing thumps and crashes, to see more Chitauri soldiers had landed just a few feet away from them on the other side of the overturned cars.
Natasha quickly stood, two pistols in her hands, firing at them and managing to take out one or two.
Clint ducked low and made his way to another overturned car, readying his bow and arrow.
"We got this."Natasha declared, knowing the super soldier and her best friend were torn between helping to get the trapped civilians."It's good. Go!"
"You'll secure them?"Rosalie questioned.
Natasha gives Rosalie a nod.
Steve turned to Clint as well, wanting to make sure he and Rosalie weren't about to leave them outmatched.
"You think you can hold them off?"Steve asked.
"Captain."Clint started as he began pulling a trigger on his bow that seem to spark a mechanism on his quiver that selected an arrow for him."It would be my genuine pleasure."
Clint stood with his bow and arrow already aimed and released, shooting one of the Chitauri right in the head.
Natasha quickly moved to her feet as well to help him causing Steve and Rosalie to take that as their cue to head out.
Steve looked to Rosalie for a brief moment to make sure she was on board, and she nodded quickly, the two of them turning to make their way down the bridge.
The Chitauri seemed to realize they were moving targets and began to try and fire at them, but they were both incredibly fast.
Steve was the famous soldier that fought in WWII while Rosalie was one of S.H.I.E.L.D's most talented spies/assassins.
They rolled across the top of the bus and jumped off the back of a flipping vehicle before landing in a crouch.
Rosalie did her best to keep her eyes trained on all of her surroundings, keep her attention keen and sharp in case she heard any cries from civilians who might have been trapped or were injured.
Regardless, the terror and despair she was seeing in front of her, she had to be strong inside and out in times. Especially, in time of difficulty.
That was what her Great-Aunt Peggy taught her and having listened to her stories of her experience in WWII when she was younger.
She was Lady Canary.
A soldier fighting to save her home.
Steve and Rosalie took off running towards where the police were setting up a block.
"They can't get involve in this fight."Rosalie complemented with a frown."They should be evacuating the surrounding area."
"My thoughts exactly, Rosa."Steve responded.
The duo were finally close enough to the police officers that they jumped into the air, Steve landing on top of the police car while Rosalie landed on the hood.
"We need men in these buildings."Rosalie stated."There are people inside that are about to run right into the line of fire."
"You take them through the basement or through the subway."Steve insisted."But whatever you do, you must keep them off the streets. We need a perimeter as far back as 39th..."
One of the officers scoffed at Captain America and Lady Canary.
"Why the hell should I take orders from you two?"the police officer questioned.
When Chitauri soldiers jumped down, Captain America and Lady Canary immediately sprung into action.
Rosalie ducked a Chitauri soldier willing to kill her with his rifle, but she quickly overpowered him and took out her small yet sharp dagger to stab him by the neck.
She then turnsx behind her to kick the Chitauri soldier heading behind her and jabbed her dagger through his chest.
Steve slammed them to the side with both his fist and his shield and then turned to give to the officers a look.
Both Steve and Rosalie then looked at the police officer with questionable looks.
"I need men in those buildings!"the police officer ordered as he pulled himself to his feet and began to turn to his men, ordering them as he went."Lead the people down and away from the streets! I need a perimeter as far back as 39th!"
After they quickly looked around to make sure that the civilians were taken care of, Steve and Rosalie both decided to head back to Natasha and Clint, who were beginning to be overrun by the Chitauri.
Steve used his shield to slam into the Chitauri soldiers with all his might, using both his fist and shield to knock them down and away from Clint.
Rosalie took out her whip and wrapped it around a Chitauri's neck, strangling him before stabbing him at the back.
She then used her pistol to shoot down the Chitauri soldier that attempted to kill Natasha with his rifle.
Rosalie scoffed as she moved her dagger to the floor to drip away the blood of the Chitauri soldiers soaked in it.
"They're not human, but…"Rosalie started.
"Just stick with it, Rosa."Natasha replied.
Steve, Rosalie, Natasha and Clint suddenly ducked to the ground, when a bolt of lightning struck down from the sky, targeted the Chitauri soldiers and blasted them in a massive shockwave.
They watched as the Chitauri convulsed and dropped to the ground, moments before Thor landed.
"What's the story upstairs?"Steve asked.
"The powers surrounding the cube is impenetrable."Thor stated grimly.
"Thor's right."Tony declared."We gotta deal with these guys."
"How do we do this?"Natasha asked.
Rosalie looked around at her companions and smiled, catching Steve's.
"As a team."Rosalie admitted.
"I have unfinished business with Loki."Thor warned.
"Yeah, get in line."Clint grumbled, looking at his arrows.
Rosalie glanced between Clint and Thor with a pointed look.
"I know the feeling, but it's going to have to wait."Rosalie commented.
Steve nodded at Rosalie.
"Loki's gonna keep this fight focused on us and that's what we need."Steve exclaimed."Without him these things could run wild. We got Stark up top, he's gonna need us..."
Suddenly, Bruce drove up to the group on a small motorbike, getting off and looking around the city with a grimace on his face.
"So, this all seems horrible."Bruce stated.
"I've seen worse."Natasha and Rosalie answered in unison.
Bruce winced, understanding that the spies' words, at least, had come from when the Hulk had chased them through the base earlier.
He'd managed to get in contact with Director Fury moments before he'd seen the portal open.
"Sorry."Bruce apologised.
"No."Natasha replied, shaking her head."We could use a little worse."
"Stark?"Steve said, contacting into the comm."We got him."
"Banner?"Tony assumed.
"Just like you said."Steve answered.
"Then tell him to suit up."Tony ordered."I'm bringing the party to you."
Before the others couldn't even speak those words to Bruce, they saw Tony fly out from behind a building, leading the largest of the Chitauri army, the leviathan creature, right behind him.
"Crap."Rosalie muttered.
Whatever Tony had done to get it to follow him the way it was, clearly only made it angry.
Natasha shook her head in disbelief.
"I...I don't see how that's a party."Natasha replied.
The group watched in horror as Tony seemed to try and both avoid the Leviathan's attacks while also keeping its attention, swooping up and down the street.
However, the leviathan followed every move he made, ending up barreling right into the street and into the buildings with every move.
Steve and Rosalie glanced at Bruce.
"Now might be a really good time for you to get angry."Steve suggested.
Bruce gave the group a smile as he looked over his shoulder.
"That's my secret, Captain."Bruce admitted."I'm always angry."
The group watched as Bruce morphed into the Hulk before their eyes, letting out a roar before he launched himself at the leviathan.
They watched as it began to fall.
"Hang on!"Tony stated.
Iron Man then proceeded to shoot the Leviathan to try and get smaller bits falling to the earth.
Hawkeye grabbed Black Widow and hid her under him to protect her from the blast while Captain America grabbed Lady Canary and covered them both with his shield.
Once the Leviathan crashed, the Chitauri stopped and turned towards the group to growl at them.
The Hulk growled at the Chitauri soldiers as he, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Thor, Black Widow, Captain America and Lady Canary formed a circle with their backs facing each other.
The Avengers were officially assembled now.
The group watched in horror as more of the Leviathans came through the portal.
Iron Man glanced at Captain America.
"Call it Cap."Iron Man insisted.
Captain America nodded before turning to the group.
"Alright, listen up. Until we can close that portal, our priority's containment."Captain America declared."Hawkeye, I want you on that roof, eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash."
Hawkeye nodded as he looked at Iron Man.
"Want to give me a lift?"Hawkeye suggested.
Iron Man nodded. "Right. Better clench up, Legolas."
Thor, Black Widow, Captain America and Lady Canary watched as Iron Man and Hawkeye flew up in the air.
Captain America glanced at Thor.
"Thor, you gotta try and bottleneck that portal."Captain America ordered."Slow 'em down. You got the lightning. Light the bastards up."
Thor nodded as he began to swing his hammer causing him to fly off.
Captain America turned to Black Widow and Lady Canary.
"We stay here on the ground, keep the fighting here."Captain America stated and glanced at the Hulk."And Hulk?"
The Hulk turned to Captain America.
"Smash."Captain America ordered.
The Hulk grinned and jumped away from building to building to smash the Chitauri soldiers that he spotted.
Captain America, Black Widow and Lady Canary fought the Chitauri on ground, doing their best to hold off the growing forces.
Though Captain America was holding against the alien soldiers, both Black Widow and Lady Canary were getting worn out from the fighting.
The two women were expert soldiers and master assassins, but both of them were just human beings.
"Captain, none of this is gonna mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal."Natasha stated.
"Our biggest guns couldn't touch it."Captain America reminded.
"Well, maybe it's not about guns."Black Widow commented.
Lady Canary notice her best friend were gesturing to the chariots racing above them.
"You wanna get up there, you're gonna need a ride."Lady Canary clarified.
"I got a ride, Rosa."Black Widow answered."I could use a boost though."
"Are you sure about this?"Captain America asked.
"Yeah."Black Widow responded."It's gonna be fun."
Lady Canary backed away as Captain America held his shield ready as Black Widow ran up to it and jumped up where she grabbed onto a passing Chitauri chariot.
"That's my best friend."Lady Canary praised proudly.
"Looks like it's just you and me, Canary."Captain America admitted.
Lady Canary gives Captain America a smirk.
"No problem."Lady Canary assured smugly and took out her whip."I'm in the mood for bigger fun."
Captain America chuckled at his partner's respond before the two of them got back to dealing with the Chitauri soldiers that were slowly approaching.
Lady Canary jumped up on a over-flipped car to grab a Chitauri soldier by the neck before using her pistol with her free hand to kill it.
She immediately ducked down to avoid the staff of a Chitauri soldiers that attempted to impale her through the stomach.
Lady Canary whacked the staff out of the Chitauri soldier's grip with her whip before unleashing a bullet that hit his throat.
Captain America threw his shield to take care of the further away enemies and used hand to hand combat if they got to close.
Hawkeye suddenly contacted Captain America and Lady Canary.
"Captain, Rosa, the bank on 42nd past Madison."Hawkeye informed."They caught a lot of civilians there."
"We're on it."Captain America answered.
Captain America glanced at Lady Canary, who nodded at him.
"Let's go."Lady Canary insisted.
The duo ran down the street, heading straight for the bank by using one of the windows.
As soon as they were close enough to see inside the bank they made sure they took stock of the situation.
There were dozens of citizens crouched together, tense and scared while three Chitauri soldiers aimed their guns at the humans to keep them in line.
One of Chitauri was crouched down next to something that looked like a bomb that was making the charging noise.
"Steve-"Lady Canary started.
"I know!"Captain America answered.
Captain America lifted his shield, crashing through the window, immediately throwing his shield at the one working on the bomb.
Lady Canary followed, jumping in right after as he went for the two remaining Chitauri soldiers who turned their weapons to him.
Captain America ducked behind a desk and kicked it at the two soldiers, Lady Canary slid onto her knees under the Chitauri fire, reaching the civilians and quickly looking around to see if any of them were injured.
The part-time historian saw some were bruised or had scrapes.
However, all the civilians appeared relatively fine despite being scared.
Rosalie looked over her shoulder to see Steve facing one Chitauri soldier, the other two down for the count and back to the people.
"Alright, everyone leave no!"Rosalie demanded as she gestured people to run and they quickly began to move for the doors, evacuating the building while Steve kept the Chitauri soldiers busy."Hurry! Get of here!"
Rosalie brought her attention back to the fight behind her and saw a Chitauri soldier had gotten up and managed to attack Captain America from behind, ripping off his helmet.
Immediately, she took out her dagger to stab the Chitauri soldier that held Steve from behind and shot one that was approaching by.
Steve looked over at Rosalie as the remaining Chitauri scrambled to pick up the ticking bomb.
He raced over to her and grabbed her around the waist just as the Chitauri threw the bomb in their direction.
"Hold on tight!"Rosalie instructed.
Rosalie wrapped her grappling hook around a nearby lamp post as Steve held her by the waist with his free hand and the two of them swung out just as the bomb went off.
Steve's shield took most of the impact of the bomb, but the force of it sent them flying out the window and to the solid ground below.
A light scoff escaped from Rosalie's mouth, ignoring the dirt on her face and her hair that looked a bit messed up.
Rosalie brought her attention onto Steve, who looked a bit worn out at what just occurred.
"You okay, Steve?"Rosalie asked.
Rosalie helped Steve back on his feet.
"I'm fine, Rosa."Steve answered."But this fight is getting a bit overwhelming."
Rosalie placed her hands gently on Steve's face as she looked at him in the eyes.
"Hey. We're the Avengers. The heroes that have been hired to work together to save the world."Rosalie explained with a determined expression."Regardless, of the losses and chaos we face, we must always have hope and never give up."
Steve didn't know why he did it, but he leaned down and kissed Rosalie quickly before he pulled away as he ran back into the battle.
A stunned look was on Rosalie's face as she moved her hand to her lips.
Captain America had just kissed her.
However, Rosalie then notice several civilians gawking at her and make her remember where she was causing her to ran back into the battle to join Steve.
Natasha took down the Chitauri on the chariot that she was flying into the air to try and get to the portal.
Loki was still flying around on his chariot, and once he spotted Natasha, he was determined to stop her.
Natasha saw the God of Mischief following behind her, aiming at her with his sceptre and trying to hit her.
"Oh, you."Natasha retorted with a hint of annoyance.
Natasha flew by one of the buildings, trying to get away from him, when she spotted Clint on the roof.
"Hawkeye!"Natasha called out.
''Nat, what are you doing?''Clint questioned.
''Uh...little help?''Natasha requested.
Natasha made her chariot duck down, missing the blasts from Loki.
Clint smirked as he saw Loki while he aimed his bow towards him, ready to shoot his arrow.
"I got him.''Clint murmured smugly.
With his skilled and precise aim, Clint shot an arrow out straight toward Loki.
It was guaranteed to hit him, but Loki was smarter than that and caught the arrow before it even hit him.
Loki smirked at Clint's foolish attempt.
But back over on the building, Clint smirked at what was coming.
Less than a few seconds later, the arrow that was still in Loki's hand blew up in his face, sending him off the chariot and back onto the Stark Tower balcony.
Loki took a moment to be able to sit back up around all the shards of glass.
The God of Mischief threw his head back, just in time to see the Hulk jumping at him.
Loki was thrown through the glass windows and into one of the walls, falling to the floor, breathing for help.
Loki groaned at the pain of being slammed into the wall and he looked up angrily to the Hulk.
He stood up quickly before the Hulk could even do anything.
''ENOUGH!''Loki yelled out.
The Hulk stopped running, looking Loki up and down, confused by his outburst.
"You are all of you beneath me!"Loki snarled arrogantly.''I am a God, you dull creature! And I will not be bullied by-''
Gotten immediately fed up of Loki starting monologuing about how great he was, the Hulk decided it wasn't worth listening to and grabbed Loki's legs, throwing him repeatedly into the floor like a rag doll and breaking the hard ground beneath him.
After a couple of throws, the Hulk released Loki, who now laid in the dents he had made, cuts over his face and obvious bruises forming.
The Hulk began to walk off, scoffing as he looked back at the God of Mischief lying on the ground, gasping for breath.
''Puny God.''the Hulk scoffed.
Once the Hulk was out of sight, Loki started wheezing in pain and was overall shocked not being able to process what had even happened.
Thor had joined Steve and Rosalie on the ground, the three of them battling more Chitauri soldiers that came their way.
Steve threw his shield while Thor threw his hammer, using them to take down a soldier or two.
Steve turned around, seeing Thor catching the hammer, only to see an energy blast from a Chitauri coming straight at him, his shield a few feet away.
However, Rosalie tackled the Chitauri soldier with a kick on the face and then slashed him on the throat with her dagger, killing him.
Thor grinned as he turned to Steve and Rosalie.
"You ready for another bout?"Thor asked.
"What?"Steve joked."You getting sleepy?"
"I can close it!"Natasha shouted through the comm system."Can anybody hear me? I can shut the portal down!"
"Do it!, Nat!"Rosalie ordered.
"No, wait!"Tony interrupted.
Steve glanced at the sky, unable to see Iron Man flying anywhere in the area.
"Stark, these things are still coming!"Steve warned.
"I got a nuke coming in!"Tony admitted."It's gonna blow in less than a minute."
Thor, Steve and Rosalie's eyes widened at the new threat.
"What?!"Rosalie gasped in shock.
"And I know just where to put it."Tony assured.
"Stark, you know that's a one way trip."Steve warned.
Thor, Steve and Rosalie then didn't hear Tony give a reply.
The three of them stood together as they watched the billionaire fly into the air holding a missile.
With all of his speed and the strength he got, Iron Man flew up, past Stark Towers and into the black hole of the portal into space.
Iron Man let go of the missile and watched as he began to float away from it.
He was getting weak as the missile continued to fly through the air, but he was going to stay awake for as long as he could.
When the missile finally reached the Chitauri's space station, all of the Chitauri on Earth shut down instantly, just leaving their lifeless bodies lying all through the streets.
All the Avengers were looking up at the portal anxiously, but Iron Man was nowhere to be seen.
Natasha stood at Stark Tower, glancing at the sight above her head.
"Come on, Stark."Natasha whispered.
"Close it."Steve ordered.
Natasha moved forward, shutting the thing with Loki's sceptre.
Loud noises from the explosion within the portal sounded even down on Earth and just as it began to close out, the suit of Iron Man began to fall out.
"Son of a gun."Steve murmured with a smile.
"He did it."Rosalie remarked.
"He's not slowing down."Thor stated.
Thor began to spin his hammer, ready to fly up to catch him.
Just as the God of Thunder was about to take off, the Hulk jumped through the air, catching Tony and falling to the ground with him lying on his stomach.
Steve, Rosalie and Thor all ran to where the Hulk had landed just as he threw Tony off of him, having him land on his back.
Thor rolled over the armour then ripped the mask from Tony's face only to see his eyes shut in peace.
The glowing light on his chest from his arc reactor was gone which meant Tony had sacrificed himself to save the world.
The Hulk suddenly let out a loud roar causing Tony to wake up and the arc reactor to kick back in again.
Tony screamed and let out gasps while Steve, Rosalie and Thor all sighed with relief.
"What the hell?"Tony muttered.
The Hulk let out another roar, but this time it was one of victory.
Tony looked back and forth at each of them, still taking deep breaths.
"What just happened?"Tony questioned before looking at Steve, Rosalie and Thor."Please tell me nobody kissed me."
Rosalie simply chuckled and shook her head at Tony's reply.
"No doubt Pepper would take that news well."Rosalie joked.
"We won."Steve remarked.
Tony let out a relieved sigh as his head fell back.
"Alright, hey!"Tony said happily as he opened his eyes again, trying to forget what just happened."Alright, good job, guys."
The group looked to each other with wide smiles.
"Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day."Tony suggested."Have you ever tried shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is, but I wanna try it.''
"We're not finished yet."Thor reminded.
This caused Thor, Steve, Rosalie, Tony and the Hulk to all to look up at Stark Tower.
They had almost forgotten about the war criminal behind this event.
"Loki."Rosalie muttered.
Thor nodded at Rosalie.
Tony looked back at Thor.
"Then shawarma after?"Tony suggested.
A groan of pain escaped from Loki's mouth as he struggled to get up from where he was currently stuck in the ground.
His whole body ached from the Hulk having thrown him around like a rag doll, but he tried not to let it show as he pulled himself up some stairs and into a sitting position.
Loki was just about to push himself up off the ground when he sensed people behind him. He winced slightly before turning, his eyes landing on the people before him.
There was Tony Stark (Iron Man), the Hulk (Bruce Banner) standing behind him while scowling at him.
Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Rosalie Breisgau (Lady Canary) were next to the Hulk.
Then there was Thor and Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) who was holding the sceptre.
Finally, there was Clint Barton (Hawkeye), who had an arrow pointing at his face using his bow.
Rosalie gave Loki a small smirk as if to silently tell him that he was done for, but he already knew that.
Loki sighed and looked over at Tony.
"If it's all the same to you, I'll have that drink now."Loki requested.
(In my opinion, seeing the Hulk beat up Loki is still one of the best moments in the whole MCU. Too bad now writers don't do Marvel movies based on the comics. The whole problem boils down to one thing for both films and comics are bad writing. If a story and characters are written well, people will enjoy it and want more. It's rare in the comics, but even more rare on screen now.)
Anyway, the Avengers had defeated Loki and saved New York! Also, we gotten an Rosteve (Rosalie x Steve) moment;)
But as I said before, this story is far from over!
