Cap was walking in one of the higher crime areas of the city. It was something that the Avengers did when they weren't busy fighting super villains. They wanted to keep a presence in those areas to discourage criminal activities. At his insistence none of them were allowed to be on their own. Bucky was with him that night. Their conversation was about their younger years together and the trouble the two of them had gotten into. They turned a corner and noticed there was a young teenager walking not far ahead of them.

Cap looked at his watch and shook his head. It was well after midnight. A girl that age should not be out, especially in a neighbourhood like this. He looked at Bucky.

"I can't get how parents can let a teenager out alone at this time of night." Cap said.

"They might not even know she is out. They might think she is safe in bed." Bucky said.

They were starting to approach the girl when she passed an alleyway between two buildings and was grabbed and pulled in. She screamed.

Bucky and Cap sped over to the alley just in time to see the girl fling her attacker into the wall of the building across from her. She looked stunned by the fact she had been able to do that.

The girl looked between Cap and Bucky, who were standing in the entrance to the alley, and the man she had flung into the wall, who was on the ground moaning in pain. There was no denying that she knew the two men were Captain America and The Winter Soldier. She also knew that she couldn't be caught by them because they would take her back to where she was living, and she would be in so much trouble. She also couldn't believe she had just flung a man three times her size across an alley. How was that even possible? But she didn't really have time to think about that. She just took off running.

Cap ran after her, but she was running pretty fast. By the time he reached the corner, she had turned and he couldn't see her.

"You don't need to be afraid. I just want to help you get home safely." Cap called out, thinking if she had found a place to hide maybe he could coax her out. But there was no noise of anyone else anywhere on the street.

Bucky had picked the guy up from the ground and had pinned him to a wall. "You clearly picked the wrong girl to mess with and at the worst possible time, huh?"

"I'll never do it again! Please don't hurt me!" The guy squeaked.

Bucky grabbed him by the collar and dragged him toward where Cap was waiting. "Find her?"

"No. She ran pretty fast. By the time I turned the corner she was gone." Cap said.

"What are we going to do with this guy?" Bucky asked.

Cap looked at him. He reached into man's pocket and pulled out his wallet He checked the man's ID and showed it to Bucky.

Cap then took out his phone and contacted the police, who came and took the guy off. He had had no business being on the street.

"Who was the girl?" A cop asked.

"No idea. She looked thirteen, maybe fourteen. She had blonde hair and was tiny." Cap said.

"How did she get away?" The cop asked.

"We pulled him off her, and she took off. I went after her. But by the time I turned the corner, she was gone." Cap said. He wasn't sure exactly what they had just seen. The girl seemed to have super strength, but they had no idea who she was. Cap didn't see the need to tell the cop about that detail without more information.

"NO! That girl threw me!" The guy screeched.

The cop raised his eyebrow as he looked at the "You are claiming that a girl who, by their description, is a third of your size threw you?"

"She did!" The guy said.

"I think someone is getting drug tested." the cop said before thanking Cap and Bucky and heading off.

Cap and Bucky continued their patrol.

"So, we did see that right? She threw him ten feet away from her." Bucky said.

"Yes, we did," Cap said.

"A girl with super strength? Whom we know nothing about." Bucky said.

"We are going to have to try and figure out who she is, yes." Cap said.

They finished their patrol and headed back to the Avengers compound around six a.m.. Some of the Avengers lived there full-time. Cap and Bucky went into the kitchen, where Pepper was about ready to serve up breakfast as everyone was coming in from patrolling the city.

Everyone sat down and started to talk about things they had to deal with that night.

"We had an interesting interaction," Bucky said.

Everyone looked up at him and Cap.

"We were patrolling and noticed a girl, no more than fourteen, walking a bit ahead of us. We were trying to catch up with her and find out what she was doing out past midnight when she was grabbed and pulled into an alley between two buildings. We ran to the alley just in time to see this girl, who would probably weigh a hundred pounds sopping wet, fling a man three times her size across the alley into the building opposite her. And she looked genuinely surprised she had done that. She took off pretty quickly," Bucky said.

"I went after her, but she turned a corner. When I got there she was not on the street," Cap said.

"We called the police, and they took the guy in. But we didn't give the police the detail that this girl might have some enhanced strength," Bucky said.

"We need to find this girl," Nat said. "She is probably terrified."

Tony opened a laptop on the counter and pulled up some footage. They had all started wearing body cams after someone had accused one of them of some un-Avenger-like behaviour. He found the footage and fast forwarded to the time Cap had told him. Once he found the girl and found a good shot of her face he imputed it into a facial recognition software that they had access to. How they had access was unknown to most of the Avengers, and Tony preferred it that way. At this point everyone knew not to ask.

While the software did its thing everyone ate the breakfast that Pepper had made.

Soon after, Morgan came running into the kitchen, and Tony picked her up.

"Morning, Squirt. You hungry?" he asked.

"Yes!" She exclaimed excitedly.

He set her down and she climbed into her chair. Pepper gave her a plate of food as well.

"What you doing?" Morgan asked, pointing to the computer.

"Avengers things." Tony said.

"Do you have to go fight people?" Morgan asked with big sad eyes. Since almost losing her dad and so many other people she considered family, she was scared every time she overheard Avengers business being discussed.

"Not this time," Tony said, ruffling her hair a bit before looking at Pepper.

"In fact, I think Uncle Clint and Auntie Laura are coming today to take you with Nate, Lila and Cooper to go play mini-putt." Pepper said.

The little girl was excited and started to shove her food in her mouth to finish eating quicker.

"Slow down there, Squirt." Tony said with a smile.

She slowed down a bit.

The conversation quickly changed to a more child appropriate topic.

As everyone finished, they got up from the table, thanked Pepper and put their dishes in the dishwasher. Cap took the laptop and went into the office the Avengers shared.

Nat came in soon after. "Any luck?"

"Not yet," Cap said.

Tony helped Pepper finish cleaning up from breakfast as Morgan ran to her room.

"We need to keep Avengers business out of the kitchen, or any place Morgan could come into," Pepper said

"Yes, I agree. I'll make sure everyone else knows," Tony said.

"Thank you," Pepper said. "My heart broke a little seeing her sad face…"

"We will talk to her and hopefully help her be less worried about that kind of thing. At six." Tony said.

Pepper nodded

"Because it will take a lot more than a few villains to take me away from you two," Tony said.

Pepper smiled and kissed him. "Now, I'm going to go make sure she doesn't need any help getting ready." She went off.

Tony made sure the kitchen was fully cleaned before the Barton clan arrived.

"Hey, Stark," Clint said.

"Hello, all." Tony said.

"How was the patrol last night?" Clint asked.

"Nothing much happened for me," Tony said.

Morgan came running into the kitchen with Pepper close behind. Hellos were exchanged all around. After a short conversation Clint and Laura took their three and Morgan to go mini putting.

Tony looked at Pepper and smiled. "I'm going to go see if anything has come from the search."

"Should you sleep?" Pepper asked.

"I'm fine," Tony said with a smile.

Pepper shook her head. "The bags under your eyes say differently."

Tony scoffed. A small smile followed. "I'll check in and then go take a nap."

Pepper smiled and nodded. "Sounds good."

Tony went to the office. At that point, almost everyone had gathered in the room.

"What, an Avenger party without me?" Tony asked.

"I think we are all just curious about this girl with super strength," Nat said.

"Wouldn't be the first time we found a kid with abilities," Tony said.

"Sure, but he knew. She seemed genuinely surprised she was able to do that," Steve said.

"Yeah, a kid who didn't know and knows now. If the other side catches wind, she could be used against us. And right now she might not be a serious threat. But, in the future, with the right training, she could be," Banner said.

"Must protect the child," Thor said.

"From herself and others," Sam commented

"Oh, Pepper has instituted a new rule. I agree, too. Anything Avengers related can not be discussed in common areas when Morgan is around to walk in on it," Tony said.

Everyone agreed. They all understood Tony and Pepper's wanting to protect the girl from the fear that came with her dad being an Avenger and starting to understand what that really meant.

"What is the likelihood that this girl is actually in this database?" Banner asked.

"I don't know. A young teenage girl who is out in one of the most dangerous neighbourhoods after midnight on a school night. Strikes me as someone who might have had some run ins with the law." Bucky said

"We don't actually know th…." Banner started to say before the computer started to beep with a match.
