Hello, Blaster the Hedgehog with another story. This time it's a crossover between Naruto and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (the original one, not the 2019 reboot). This fic is inspired by a story on Wattpad called "Naruto soldier of earth and time" written by mickol93.

Now, I'm in the middle of watching Naruto on Netflix, so forgive me if I get anything wrong lore wise. This will be an AU starting from the very start in Naruto when he fails to graduate from the Academy for the 3rd time.

Now throughout this fic, the dialogue from Modern Warfare: Remastered will be modified a bit to fit the story, but it'll nevertheless remain in line with the original. Also, I'm gonna change the way some of the weapons were handled in the game. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but I feel like Call of Duty does have a thing when it comes anachronisms.

With that out of the way, I don't own Naruto or Call of Duty

"Prologue"

March 27, 2001 – 21:30:07

Hidden Leaf Village, Land of Fire

Naruto Uzumaki

Ninja Academy Student

Naruto was running through the forests on the outskirts of the Village Hidden in the Leaves. He was upset. He had failed the Academy's graduation exam for the third time. Guess the phrase "third time's the charm" didn't work after all. But not only that, he discovered something tragic; the reason why the villagers hated him for his entire life.

He had discovered that not only did he have the infamous Nine-Tailed Fox, the chakra demon that had attacked the Leaf 12 years ago, but the Fourth Hokage, who sealed the fox inside of Naruto, was his father.

This had shaken him to his core, and when the Third Hokage had discovered him in the area of the Hokage Tower where many scrolls of Forbidden Jutsu were stored. Naruto had confronted him about this, and some very harsh words were spoken to his surrogate grandfather.

Flashback:

"Naruto," Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage said. "What are you doing here?"

Naruto didn't respond and had his back turned on him.

He had somehow managed to break into the Hokage Tower and enter the wing where the scrolls of Forbidden Jutsu were located. From there he searched for a specific scroll that his sensei, Mizuki, had tasked him with as a make-up graduation exam. This was a lie.

Naruto had learned the Shadow Clone Jutsu from the scroll, and he managed to make about 10 solid clones of himself before dispelling them as to not get caught. But as he was about to leave with the Forbidden Scroll, something caught his eye. A set of scrolls that had been labelled by the Fourth Hokage. Among them was a letter addressed to Naruto from the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze. Naruto opened the letter with the blood seal and began to read it. He was about halfway through the letter when he started tearing up. In the letter was Minato explaining why he sealed the Nine-Tailed Fox inside of him, how he met his mother, and how he had hoped he would be viewed as a hero.

Just as he finished reading the letter, Sarutobi entered in.

Naruto just stood there as tears fell down his face, with Minato's letter slipping out of his hand.

"Why?"

Sarutobi was taken back a bit when he asked that in a soft voice.

"Why did you hide this from me, Old Man?" Naruto asked. He turned around with tears falling down his face.

Sarutobi knew immediately what Naruto had found. "Naruto, you must understand-"

"Understand what?! That I wanted to have a demon trapped in me my whole fucking life?! That the Fourth Hokage was my father?! That I had a clan that had been pretty much destroyed?! How could I possibly understand that?! I just found out the whole reason why my life has been an absolute fucking hell and you FUCKING hid this from me!"

Naruto was panting from his outburst, with more tears falling down his face. Sarutobi was shocked at Naruto's use of curse words, but that was the least of his worries. He attempted to approach the blonde boy.

"Naruto, please. Let me explain," Sarutobi pleaded.

Naruto, however, just backed away and screamed, "Get away from me! You lied to me all my life! I FUCKING HATE YOU, YOU SENILE, OLD, SON OF A BITCH!"

Sarutobi just stopped and felt his heart stop at that statement. He knew he fucked up. Naruto used this as an opportunity to escape. He put up the hand signs and yelled out, "Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu!" 50 Naruto clones appeared and began to attack Sarutobi. However, it was only a distraction for Naruto to slip out.

He ran back to his run-down apartment to pack up whatever belongings he could bring, but not before sending good-bye letters to the very few people who cared about him in the village.

Flashback ends:

Naruto just kept on running, hoping to outrun any search parties out looking for him. He kept running until he tripped on a tree root and fell. But he didn't try to get back up. He just laid there on the ground and cried.

"I can't take it anymore," Naruto said between sobs. "I just wanna die!"

Unbeknownst to Naruto, a hidden figure in the trees came out and approached him.

"Now why would you want to do that?"

Naruto heard the voice and searched around for where it came from. He then saw a man wearing a vest similar to what chunin and jonin wear, some sort of camouflage, and a beanie hat. He was also wielding some sort of weapon. The man kneeled in front of Naruto.

"What's wrong kid?" he asked.

Naruto then proceeded to tell the man everything that had happened to him so far. The man felt bad and put his hand on Naruto's shoulder, which in turn lead Naruto to hug him tight. However, the moment was interrupted by the arrival of Mizuki.

"Well now, isn't this a touching sight. The Nine-Tailed Demon Fox made himself a friend," Mizuki sneered.

The man glared at Mizuki and said, "So you're the bugger that tricked this kid into stealing a powerful scroll?"

Mizuki didn't phase and dropped his façade, "Why yes I did, SAS, and yes I know about you. But unfortunately, now that you know my plans, I'll have to kill you. And then once I kill the fox brat, Orochimaru will reward me greatly."

"Well sorry to tell you this mate, but that ain't gonna happen," the man told Mizuki.

Just as Mizuki was prepared to attack, 3 loud, rapid bursts sounded, and Mizuki ended up with 3 holes in his chest.

Naruto just cowered in fear and covered his ears from the thunderous bursts. A few seconds later, he opened his eyes and saw the corpse of Mizuki in front of him.

"Bugger," the man said. He then turned to Naruto, "Sorry you had to see that kid. It was either him or us, and it sure as hell wasn't going to be us."

Naruto, however, didn't seem phased. The man thought of something to help the kid out; give him a new purpose.

"Hey kid, why don't you come with me?"

Naruto looked up to the man with a surprised look. This strange man that he just met 10 minutes ago, killed a would-be attacker to protect him, and most important of all comforted him when he was being upset.

"R-really?" he asked.

"Sure thing. My men are about 4 miles to the Southeast from here. They're waiting for me to return, and I'm sure there's enough room for one more on our ride home."

Naruto though about it and had decided. "Okay, I'll come with you."

"Alright then," the man said. Then he realized something, "Oh, bugger, now what kind of gentleman am I if I didn't catch your name?"

Naruto looked a bit sheepish, "Oh, yeah. My name's Naruto Uzumaki."

"Captain John Price, British Special Air Service," Price introduced himself. Price and Naruto then headed to the Southeast to where the captain's men were located.

Meanwhile in Leaf, chunin Iruka Umino was hopping from tree to tree as quick as he could trying to find Naruto. He had messed up bad.

Flashback:

"Naruto?" Iruka asked, knocking on the blonde's apartment door, through trying not to break it down, considering how run down his apartment was. Trying his luck at the door, he turned the door handle, and surprisingly it was unlocked.

Iruka had a bad feeling about this. He was trying to make it up to Naruto for failing him during the graduation exams. He figured he could treat him to so ramen from Ichiraku's. When he entered the apartment, the lights were off. Iruka approached with caution.

"Naruto?" Iruka asked wearily. He checked the living room/kitchen, he checked his bedroom and bathroom when suddenly he spotted a note on Naruto's desk, right next to Naruto's iconic orange jumpsuit. He picked it up and read the note.

To whoever finds this,

I'm gone. I've had enough of this village who hated my all my life because of the demon that's inside me. I hope you're happy that I'm out your life. Don't bother trying to find me. By the time you read this note, I'll be long gone.

Naruto Uzumaki, the Nine-Tailed Fox

Iruka was in tears when he finished reading it.

"Naruto," he whispered. He knew he had to find Naruto and fast. He ran out of the apartment and went off to go look for him.

Flashback ends:

"Naruto, when I find you, I'm gonna apologize and make it up to you," Iruka thought. He knew he had to be fast. He had heard rumors that someone broke into the Hokage Tower and stole the Forbidden Scroll. He didn't think it was Naruto, but he had to make sure. He then saw something laying on the ground. He landed on the ground and went to inspect it. It was then, he realized that this was the body of Mizuki.

"Mizuki!"

Iruka saw that his body had three holes in his body. He then noticed 3 brass cylinders nearby. He had heard about the West's firearms, but Shinobi Elemental Nations and the Western governments usually stayed clear of each other out of respect. He then came to a horrifying conclusion. Some soldiers from the West must've taken Naruto. He had to hurry. Not far behind Iruka was a team of ANBU Black Ops who came to dispose of Mizuki's body. The Hokage had determined that Mizuki had tricked Naruto into stealing the Forbidden Scroll to try to give to Orochimaru, using Naruto as a scapegoat. Once the body was taken care of, they then proceeded after Iruka to find the blonde kid.

Captain Price and Naruto were near a clearing in the forest when 5 additional soldiers came out from cover. One of the soldiers came up to Price.

"Captain Price, it's good to see you sir," said one of the soldiers. He then looked at Naruto, "Who's the kid, sir?"

"He's a kid who needs a better life, Gaz. I'll tell you more when we get back. Call in the chopper."

"Yes sir." Gaz glanced at Naruto and then turned around to call in the extraction chopper.

"ETA on the chopper is about 5 minutes, sir," Gaz informed Price. Price then turned to Naruto, "Okay Naruto, stay close to me." Naruto nodded.

About 5 minutes later the helicopter landed, and everybody boarded. Not too far away, Iruka saw Naruto entering the helicopter.

"NARUTO! Stop, please!" Iruka yelled. He picked up the pace to try and reach him.

"Ok, we're all aboard! Let's go!" Price told the pilot. The pilot nodded and began to take off.

Iruka just froze and looked up at Naruto who gave his former teacher a sad look from the helicopter window and just turned away. The helicopter flew off, carrying away the Fourth Hokage's legacy. Iruka fell to his knees as tears fell from his scarred face, not carrying if anyone saw him cry; even though ninjas were to never show emotion. Sarutobi showed up a few minutes later.

"Naruto," Iruka cried softly, "Come back. I'm so sorry." He took off his headband and turned it so that the metal forehead protector showed his reflection. "I was going to give this to him; to let him know that I passed him."

Sarutobi walked up to him and put a hand on Iruka's shoulder, "I should have paid more attention to him. I had thought he did fine and made some friends at the Academy, but I was so horribly wrong."

"In a way," Iruka said sadly, "I was sort of the only friend he ever had. And now he thinks I hate him. But I never hated him. I never saw him as the fox, I saw him as Naruto Uzumaki."

Sarutobi sighed, knowing that he had failed at fulfilling Minato Namikaze's dying wish.

In the village, there were letters sent out to the five people who actually cared for Naruto.

Dear Konohamaru/Hinata/Old man Teuchi and Big Sister Ayame/Iruka-sensei,

If you're reading this letter, then I'm long gone from the Hidden Leaf Village. I have found the reason why the villagers hated me all my life. It's because I'm the container of the Nine-Tailed Fox that attacked the village 12 years ago, and that the Fourth Hokage, my father, sealed it inside of me. I've had enough from the villagers who hated me. You were among the only few people who didn't see me as the Nine-Tailed Fox. You saw me for who I was: a sad orphan who just wanted to be loved. And after failing the graduation exam from the Ninja Academy for the 3rd time, I couldn't take anymore hate from the villagers.

Konohamaru, even though you're 4 years younger than me, you were the first kid that saw me as a rival, a friend, and even an older brother. I hope you grow up to be a better ninja than I would have become and surpass your grandfather and become Hokage.

Hinata, I knew you had a crush on me, and I'm sorry if I never said it to you in person, but I love you. I realize that Sakura was a bitch who wouldn't give a damn about me, but you would. I know how your father and the rest of the Hyuga clan would've reacted if they saw you with me. Even though I'm gone, I want you to promise me that you won't give up and never back down.

Old man Teuchi and Big Sister Ayame, you were the only ones who gave me warm meals when the other villagers wouldn't sell me anything. I guess you can say you guys were the closest thing I had to a family. Old man Teuchi, I hope you continue to make excellent ramen. Big Sister Ayame, I hope you take care of your dad, and keep me in your heart.

Iruka-sensei, I know you probably hated me for what I carry inside of me. I'm sorry for all the pranks I did. You probably wouldn't believe me, but you were the only teacher who didn't actively try to sabotage me in the Academy. All the other teachers tried to make me fail, and shown all the favoritism towards that bastard, Sasuke. But you don't have to worry about me anymore, because I'll be long gone by the time you finish reading this letter. You can probably sleep easier now that your class clown is gone, just like the rest of the village.

I don't know if I'll ever come back. I highly doubt it. Even if I did come back out of my own free will, the village would still hate me. So don't try and look for me. I hope you work to make the Village Hidden in the Leaves better than the one I left.

Your big brother/Love/best customer/delinquent, dead-last failure of a student,

Naruto Uzumaki

The recipients of these letters grieved in their own way. Konohamaru was crying in his bed, cursing his grandfather for driving away his big brother figure. Hinata was in her room, crying that she never got to confess her love to Naruto, clutching his orange jacket. Teuchi was holding his daughter, who was crying her eyes out for losing who she considered a little brother. And finally, Iruka was in a bar downing a 5th saucer of sake for being a failure of a teacher.

But this was just the beginning of Naruto's long journey.

And that concludes the prologue.

Now before you ask, yes, I altered the timeline a bit, where Naruto met Konohamaru a year earlier than he did in the original anime/manga. Also, I made Naruto sort of aware of Hinata's crush on him, but he would be aware of how the Hyuga clan would react to him.

Speaking of Hinata's crush, I support the NaruHina, but I've also read a few fics where Naruto has a harem. So let me know if you guys want Naruto to have a harem, or just be shipped with Hinata.

Next time:

"It's the FNG sir. Go easy on him sir, it's his first day on the regiment."

"Right. What the hell kind of name is Soap, eh? How'd a muppet like you pass Selection?"
