Finally, they arrived at a large, intricately carved door, which Foreteller Ira opened with a wave of his hand. The door swung open, revealing a spacious and elegantly furnished office. Bookshelves lined the walls, filled with ancient tomes and scrolls, while a large wooden desk dominated the center of the room.
Asukazen: (In his mind, growling in frustration) What is this request anyway? If it doesn't suit my needs, I will simply stick to the original plan. You better not disappoint, Foreteller. I've had enough of this world.
He gestured for Asukazen to enter, closing the door behind them with a soft click. The room was bathed in a warm, golden light, emanating from the various lamps and candles scattered throughout the space.
Foreteller Ira sat in his private meeting room, deep in thought as he devised his plan. Gaining Asukazen's trust and admiration would be crucial for his scheme to succeed.
Foreteller Ira: (Muttering to himself) Boost his ego, make him feel valued... Yes, that should do it. I need Asukazen to believe that I see him as more than just another Keyblade wielder. Only then will he become my eyes and ears, my unwitting pawn against the other Foretellers.
He thought about the dangerous mission he would present to Asukazen. It was a mission that held the potential for great peril, and Foreteller Ira knew that it would appeal to Asukazen's desire to prove himself.
Foreteller Ira: (Thinking) Yes, yes, that's it. I'll use his desire for admiration and recognition to my advantage. Asukazen is a key figure in this paradoxical reality. He and Blizzard shouldn't even exist in our world, but they are here, and that gives me leverage. If I can make him trust me, make him believe I am his mentor and confidant, he will be more willing to share information with me.
The key to his plan was to keep the young man intrigued and eager for more, to make him feel like a vital piece in a larger puzzle. By doling out bits and pieces of knowledge, just enough to pique Asukazen's interest without revealing the full picture.
Foreteller Ira: (Nodding in his mind) Correct, I will drip-feed him the details, just enough to keep him engaged, but never too much that he questions my intentions.
With a sense of satisfaction, Foreteller Ira finalized his plan. Well aware of the risks, but the potential reward was too great to ignore. Asukazen would become his proxy, his loyal agent, without ever suspecting the true nature of his mission.
Foreteller Ira: Listen carefully, Asukazen. Three new worlds have suddenly appeared among the universe, I want you to explore one of these worlds, unlock its Keyhole, and collect as much Lux as possible. But be cautious. The number of Heartless detected in these worlds is greater than anything we've seen before. The darkness there is exceptionally corruptive.
Asukazen listened intently, trying to discern if the Foreteller's words were genuine or part of some manipulation. He remained open-minded in his tone, even though inside, he was still cautious.
Asukazen: Worlds that are somehow connected to my reality? I find that hard to believe, Foreteller Ira. You want me to explore one of these worlds and unlock its Keyhole, but how can that be possible when everything from my previous reality was destroyed, utterly annihilated by the very events that brought me and Blizzard here?
Foreteller Ira quickly tried to come up with a legitimate explanation, something that could make Asukazen believe the Foreteller's words, something that would align with the Master of Masters' teachings about the theory and the formation of two separate realities.
Asukazen: So, forgive me if I'm a bit hesitant to accep-
Ira interrupted Asukazen, his voice firm and authoritative.
Foreteller Ira: You are correct. Your reality, the universe you knew, was indeed destroyed. However, the paradox that brought you and Blizzard here has created a rift, a tear in the fabric of existence itself. These new worlds are not remnants of your old reality, but rather, they are reflections of what once was, twisted and distorted by the forces that brought you to our realm.
The Foreteller took a deep breath.
Foreteller Ira: Unlike most of the worlds in the cosmos that are at a fixed level of danger, the sensation of dread and darkness keeps increasing every day in these three realms. Such a phenomenon has been categorized as highly abnormal.
Asukazen: And what of it? Why such interest in us? Why not leave the exploration to a more experienced Keyblade wielder?
Foreteller Ira: Think about it, you and Blizzard have a unique perspective, a connection to the paradox that brought you to our reality. Tell me, did you and Blizzard have a family, a home in your previous world? What could have possibly caused the destruction of your entire reality?
Asukazen hesitated for a moment, his expression hardening as he contemplated how much to reveal.
Asukazen: There were... two individuals, Xalvador and William. Blizzard and I had a long, shared history with them. They were both Keyblade wielders in our reality, but something changed. Xalvador... (he paused, struggling to find the words) I don't remember much, but I'm certain that Xalvador was the one who caused all of this, somehow. And William, according to Blizzard, was charmed by Xalvador, seduced by the promises of darkness.
Foreteller Ira paused, taking a moment to process the existence of Xalvador and William, these two individuals who had apparently brought about the destruction of an entire reality.
Foreteller Ira: How unfortunate, for an entire universe, perhaps billions of lives, to be lost to the machinations of two men consumed by the soothing promises of darkness. It's a tragedy beyond measure.
Asukazen weakly nodded, unsure if he detected genuine sadness or mere indifference in the Foreteller's tone.
Foreteller Ira: Thank you for sharing this information with me. Do you know anything else about these two individuals, anything that could help us understand the nature of the threat they pose?
Asukazen: Xalvador... How could I ever forget him? His thick, long white hair flowing down his back, those piercing purple eyes with orange irises, a pale skin, that confident, calm smile... It's like a nightmare come to life.
Foreteller Ira: I understand this is difficult for you, Asukazen. If you're not comfortable sharing more, we can return to the matter of the mission I have in mind for you.
Asukazen: Y-Yes.
Foreteller Ira: Your skills and abilities are essential for this future mission. But as I mentioned earlier, it won't be easy. The darkness in these worlds is potent and corruptive, and the Heartless are more numerous than ever before. I don't want any of you to take unnecessary risks, but you and Blizzard, you've endured the darkness more times than I can count. That's why I suggest you go without your Chirithy.
Asukazen: (pretending to be shocked) What?! I had no idea Chirithies could be corrupted by the darkness. Why was I never informed of this?
Foreteller Ira: I apologize for the oversight on our part. It's a fact that all Keyblade wielders should be aware of, especially those who venture into the most dangerous and darkness-infested worlds.
His was buzzing with doubts and suspicions, and he decided to test Foreteller Ira's knowledge, asking a question that he already knew the answer to.
Asukazen: This is troubling news, I have a question for you. Imagine a scenario where a Chirithy were to be consumed by the darkness. What would happen then?
Foreteller Ira thought for a moment, his expression pensive beneath his mask, then responded with a calm and knowledgeable tone.
Foreteller Ira: A good question. If a Chirithy were to fall into darkness, it could indeed become a nightmare, a Nightmare Chirithy to be precise. Nightmares are corrupted Chirithies, and they pose a significant threat to not only their Keyblade wielder but also to other wielders as well. They become much more powerful and destructive, driven by the darkness that engulfs them, and are on a level of danger that surpasses even a 'Rank B.' I'm sure you can already imagine the potential for disaster.
Asukazen: Nightmares? But... they look so harmless. How could they turn into something so dangerous? Are you saying that thousand of wielders could have their Chirithy turning into a nightmare at any moment?
Foreteller Ira chuckled softly, trying to ease Asukazen's apparent concern.
Foreteller Ira: Not to worry too much, Asukazen. The conditions for a Chirithy to turn into a nightmare are complex. It's not just a simple matter of falling into darkness. There are other factors involved. Chirithies who have a bond by a stronger connection with their Keyblade wielder and who remain vigilant against the darkness are less likely to be affected.
Asukazen: I see. It's just... they look so... Especially in their behavior towards us. It's hard to imagine them becoming something so dangerous, especially thousands of them.
Foreteller Ira smiled, seemingly amused by Asukazen's concern.
Foreteller Ira: Rest assured, your Chirithy is loyal and dedicated to guiding you. Just remember to keep your heart strong and your connection firm. That will keep the darkness at bay.
Asukazen's somber face concealed a whirlwind of emotions inside him. He couldn't help but think about the words Foreteller Ira had just spoken about Chirithies turning into nightmares. He wondered if this Chirithy was on the verge of becoming one, considering how distant and cold he had been towards it.
Asukazen: (Hesitantly) A Nightmare... it's hard to think about, but I understand the risks.
Foreteller Ira: Just remember, you and Blizzard have a strong will, and that will serve you well on this mission.
Asukazen: (In his mind) Maybe this is what I need. A voyage to these three worlds could help me grow stronger, and I can show Foreteller Ira that I'm capable, even without relying on my Keyblade. And if I'm away from this annoyance, this artificial Dream Eater for a long while, it might be better for both of us. I can't let my emotions get in the way. And who knows, maybe I'll stumble upon Xalvador and William. If I can end them once and for all, it would be one less burden to carry.
Asukazen's heart felt heavy, burdened with the weight of his past and the uncertainty of his future. He knew he was on the verge of breaking, but the idea of going on these expeditions provided a chance, a chance to escape the suffocating depression that this world had brought upon him.
Foreteller Ira then glanced at the door as he now felt two pressence behind, and with a calm and composed expression, he gestured for the others to come inside. As the door opened, two figures stepped into the room. Asukazen's eyes widened in surprise.
Foreteller Ira: There you are. Skuld and Blizzard will be accompanying you on your expedition.
Skuld and Blizzard exchanged nods with Asukazen, and Skuld wore a reassuring smile, while Blizzard seemed a bit reserved. Asukazen was unsure how to react, especially with Blizzard's unexpected presence.
Asukazen: (In his mind) Blizzard... what's he doing here?
Foreteller Ira's voice brought Asukazen back to the present, his tone calm and focused.
Foreteller Ira: Allow me to introduce your companions for this expedition. Skuld, a promising Keyblade wielder with great potential, and Blizzard, who is here on special permission from Ava of the Vulpes Union. They have both agreed to join you on this mission, knowing the risks involved.
Skuld gave Asukazen a small smile, and Blizzard weakly nodded. Asukazen tried to hide his surprise, but he couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions seeing them there.
Skuld: It's good to see you again, Asukazen. I didn't expect to be on this expedition together, especially not to see you looking so healthy after how much you slept following the tournament.
Asukazen: I suppose... Ephemer surprised me a lot during our battle.
Asukazen managed a faint smile, trying to act natural and not reveal anything about their shared past. He couldn't let Skuld or anyone else know about their true origins.
Foreteller Ira: You might be wondering why I chose Skuld instead of Ephemer for this expedition. It's not a decision I made lightly. Ephemer is undoubtedly a strong and skilled Keyblade wielder, and I considered inviting him. However, Skuld has shown remarkable growth and potential, and I believe this expedition could be an opportunity for her to further develop her abilities and perhaps even reach the capacity of a 'Rank C.'
Foreteller Ira: I also believe that you and Skuld have a strong rapport, having gone on missions together in the past. Your teamwork and understanding of each other's strengths could be crucial in this mission. I have no doubt that you two, along with Blizzard, can increase the chances of success in unlocking the Keyhole. I'll leave you to contemplate this mission. Should you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to come to me. I want you to make an informed choice, Asukazen. You two shown great willpower against the darkness, and I have faith in your abilities.
Blizzard: (In his mind) Great endurance? He doesn't even know the whole truth about us.
With those parting words, Foreteller Ira left his office, giving everyone the space they needed to think about the expedition and its implications. Asukazen stood there, lost in his thoughts, wrestling with his emotions, and trying to find a path forward that would lead to the escapism he sought.
Asukazen and Blizzard stood side by side as they processed the information given by the Foreteller. Asukazen glanced at the door to ensure they were alone, then leaned in to whisper to Blizzard, speaking in a calm yet reserved tone.
Asukazen: This locked world is related... to our reality, a reality that should not exist here. Foreteller Ava is the one who permitted you to come on this mission. It's all too convenient. We both know that one of the Foretellers is... not what everyone thinks.
He paused for a moment, observing Blizzard's reaction, before continuing in a hushed voice.
Asukazen: Foreteller Ira is trying to manipulate me, and I have a feeling that Foreteller Ava might be doing the same to you. I don't trust them completely. They might have their own agendas.
Blizzard looked visibly conflicted, absorbing Asukazen's words, and then whispered back with a hint of uncertainty.
Blizzard: You might be right, Asukazen. It's all too suspicious. But what should we do? We can't back out of this mission now, can we?
Asukazen: I don't care about your eagerness to please them.
Skuld, who was standing nearby, looked over at them curiously, but she couldn't hear their hushed conversation.
Skuld: What are you two talking about?
Blizzard turned to Skuld, trying to deflect her curiosity.
Blizzard: Just wondering about what kind of world this could be! It's all so new and unknown. But we'll handle it together, right?
Skuld: Of course, we're a team after all.
Asukazen and Blizzard exchanged a quick glance, both aware that they needed to be cautious, even around their fellow wielders. They couldn't blindly trust anyone, especially with the Master of Masters' warning of a traitor among the Foretellers.
Asukazen: (Firmly) Right... together.
His words were firm and serious as he now addressed Skuld.
Asukazen: The darkness and the Heartless are at their peak in these worlds, and we may be facing dangers unlike anything we've encountered before. So, gather all the supplies you'll need for combat and healing. Be thorough and don't take this lightly.
He glanced at Skuld, his brow furrowed and his mouth set in a firm line
Asukazen: Skuld... This mission is not ordinary, it's an expedition, where light can be snuffed out very easily. This is a real mission, not the daily grind. Don't rely on friendship and teamwork alone. It's going to take focus and calm under overwhelming pressure. Be mentally prepared.
Skuld: (Taken aback) W-What? I... I understand, Asukazen. I'll do my best to be prepared and focused.
Blizzard: Don't worry about it, Asukazen... he just wants to... Forget what I said.
With their understanding, Asukazen left the room, followed closely by his Chirithy. As he stepped out of the Headquarters, Foreteller Ira approached him at the entrance with a scroll in hand with some of the children nearby asked themselves questions as they saw Asukazen near the Foreteller again.
Child Wielder 20: I admit, it's been a few days, how can Master Ira act so friendly with him after that reckless behavior? It's like he's forgotten about it.
Child Wielder 25: We all thought he'd be punished severely for traumatizing everyone in the training hall that day. But instead, it seems like he's getting preferential treatment instead.
Four days ago.
Foreteller Ira walked down the long, winding staircase of the clock tower, his footsteps reverbating in the empty hallway. He had just finished one of his monthly meetings with the other Foretellers, discussing the various issues and concerns within their respective Unions. As he descended the stairs, his mind was preoccupied with thoughts of the future and the role he played in shaping it.
Suddenly, a group of Chirithies appeared before him, their expressions a mix of concern and agitation. Foreteller Ira paused, surprised by their unexpected presence.
[CW1] Chirithy: Master Ira, we need to speak with you urgently. It's about the incident that occurred in the training hall earlier today.
Foreteller Ira: Incident? What incident are you referring to?
[CW8] Chirithy: It's Asukazen of Unicornis! He was training on the spiked flail dummy without any regard for the consequences. His reckless behavior caused a lot of trouble.
[CW25] Chirithy: (Nodding) Yes, there was blood everywhere, and his leg was badly gashed. It was a horrific sight, and many of the children were left shaken and disturbed.
Foreteller Ira listened intently, his brow furrowing beneath his mask as he processed the information.
Foreteller Ira: I see. This is indeed a serious matter. Asukazen's actions have caused harm not only to himself but also to the well-being of the other Keyblade wielders.
[CW1] Chirithy: Please, Master Ira, we implore you to take action against Asukazen. His behavior cannot go unpunished, or it will set a dangerous precedent for the other wielders.
The Foreteller's mind raced as he processed this new information. Asukazen and Blizzard were not ordinary, that they had come from another reality and possessed knowledge and abilities that were still largely unknown.
Foreteller Ira: (In his mind) The Master brought them here for a reason, and he wouldn't have done so if they were not important. But still.
He turned to the Chirithies, his voice calm but firm.
Foreteller Ira: Regarding Asukazen's behavior, I am compelled to overlook this matter.
The Chirithies exchanged confused and frustrated glances, their expressions conveying their disappointment with Foreteller Ira's decision.
[CW1] Chirithy: But Master Ira, surely you cannot simply let this slide? The other wielders look to you for guidance and leadership. If Asukazen goes unpunished, it sends the wrong message and undermines your authority.
Foreteller Ira: (Sighing deeply) I hear your concerns, and I understand your frustration. However, there are larger factors at play here that go beyond the scope of this single incident. Asukazen and Blizzard are not like the others, and their presence here is part of a greater scope that even I do not fully comprehend.
[CW8] Chirithy: But Master Ira, how can we maintain order and discipline if those who act recklessly are not held accountable for their actions?
Foreteller Ira: While I cannot punish Asukazen directly for his actions, I will ensure that he atones for his behavior by personally working for me in the future. This will serve as a form of redemption and will allow me to keep a closer eye on his development.
[CW8] Chirithy: And what about the tournament?
Foreteller Ira: (Nodding) Yes, Asukazen will be permitted to compete in the tournament. His participation will serve as an opportunity for him to demonstrate his skills and his growth as a wielder. It will also allow me to better assess his abilities and his potential.
The Chirithies were visibly displeased with this decision, their frustration growing.
[CW1] Chirithy : With all due respect, this seems like a dangerous precedent to set. The other wielders will see this as favoritism, and it could breed resentment and discord among the ranks.
Foreteller Ira: (Firmly) My decision is final. Asukazen and Blizzard are too important to be cast aside over a single incident. As a Foreteller, I cannot go above my rights and violate the trust placed in me by the Master. We must look at the bigger picture and have faith in the path he has laid out for us.
[CW1] Chirithy: As you wish, Master Ira. We will trust in your judgment, even if we do not fully agree with it.
The Chirithies bowed their large rounded heads, accepting Foreteller Ira's decision even as their disappointment and frustration remained evident.
[CW1] Chirithy: As you wish, Master Ira. We will trust in your judgment, even if we do not fully agree with it.
Chirithy 2: We will do as you ask, Master Ira. But please, keep a close eye on Asukazen. We fear that his reckless behavior could lead to even greater problems down the line.
Foreteller Ira: (In his mind) Asukazen... You are a quite the mystery, a wild card in this whims of my Master, just... what are you?
Back to the present.
Foreteller Ira: I'm glad you and the others have agreed to the expedition. Here are the coordinates of this 'Expedition-type' world you be venturing into. Make sure you're fully prepared for tomorrow.
Asukazen took the scroll and nodded, his expression a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
Asukazen: I will try to keep that in mind.
Asukazen walked through the busy district of Unicornis, his mind filled with thoughts of the upcoming expedition. The streets were bustling with children going about their daily tasks, but Asukazen remained distant and quiet, not paying much attention to his surroundings.
As he reached the middle of the district, a large fountain stood there, so big and wide that it could be used as a sitting bench. He jumped up and took a seat, then opened the scroll given to him by Foreteller Ira. But as he unrolled the parchment, he couldn't help but be taken aback by what he saw.
Asukazen: W-What...?
The image on the scroll depicted a world's sphere that looked like a gigantic pizza laying over, with a katana impaled through it. Asukazen blinked in disbelief, wondering if this was some kind of joke or a mistake.
Asukazen: (Thinking to himself) A pizza... with a katana through it? Is this some kind of illusion or distortion? What could it possibly mean?
He rubbed his eyes, thinking that maybe his mind was playing tricks on him. But when he looked at the scroll again, the image remained the same, as bizarre and incomprehensible as before.
Asukazen: (Whispering to himself) This is beyond bizarre. What kind of world is this?
He felt a mix of surprise and disbelief, his mind struggling to make sense of the strange image before him. [A] Chirithy, sensing Asukazen's confusion, jumped up onto the ledge of the fountain and leaned in to get a closer look at the scroll.
[A] Chirithy: What is it? What's on the scroll that's got you so perplexed?
The Chirithy, unable to comprehend the concept of a pizza, looked at the scroll with curiosity and confusion, tilting its large rounded head as it stared at the image.
[A] Chirithy: What is that? I've never seen anything like it before. It looks... strange and unsettling.
Asukazen didn't respond, his mind still trying to make sense of the strange image before him. He couldn't fathom what kind of locked world this could be, and it only added to the mystery surrounding his past reality.
He stared at the scroll, trying to find any clue or explanation for this bizarre sight. He racked his brain, trying to think of anything that could make sense of it. But the more he thought about it, the more he felt lost and puzzled.
What could this possibly mean? Was it a symbolic representation of something? Or was it just some kind of illusion or trick designed to confuse and mislead them?
[A] Chirithy: Do you think it's dangerous? It looks rather peculiar and ominous.
Asukazen remained silent, lost in his thoughts, refusing to acknowledge the annoyance. Even though the Dream Eater was curious, it received no response.
Realizing that the expedition to this peculiar world might hold some answers about the previous reality before it was erased, but it also meant that it could be dangerous and lead to even more disasters depending on the context. Yet, despite this awareness, he felt compelled to go on this expedition, driven by a desperate need for escapism
He then leaped out of the fountain he sat on and walked through a different district of Unicornis, trying to clear his mind of the troubling thoughts and images from the non-sensical scroll. As he wandered through an empty corridor, he noticed a Chirithy lying its back on the floor, looking up at the sky and unable to move.
[A] Chirithy: The Keyblade wielder that this Chirithy belonged to... they perished. Soon, this Chirithy will disappear as well, fading into nothingness.
Other Chirithy: (Weakly) I... I tried to save him... but there was nothing I could do... I failed in my duty as a guide.
As the dying Chirithy lay there, it gradually became more transparent, its form fading away little by little. Asukazen glared in different directions, making sure that he was alone, then crouched down to the Chirithy's level, his demeanor momentarily softened by a glimmer of compassion. He gently patted the Chirithy's large rounded head and asked.
Asukazen: Do you want to live on?
The dying Chirithy looked up at Asukazen with its small, sorrowful drawn eyes, responding with a faint voice, its words tinged with a sense of acceptance and resignation.
Other Chirithy: No... I want to stay by their side, even in spirit. It's my duty to remain until the end, to be with them always.
In reponse, Asukazen tried to resist the urge to clench his hands, seeing something, even an artificial being, accepting death so easily. It stirred a deep sense of anger and despair within him.
[A] Chirithy watched this interaction, feeling a mix of frustration and admiration. Asukazen's display of compassion and pity was unexpected, and it highlighted the conflict within him. On one hand, he could be so kind-hearted and empathetic, but on the other hand, he still remained cold, violent, and distant.
As the dying Chirithy disappeared into nothingness, Asukazen stood up, swallowing his saliva, his expression returning to its usual calm and reserved state after glaring at the sky one last time. He let out a pained sigh, the weight of his existence bearing down upon him. He walked away as if nothing had happened
Walking through the north district of Unicornis, [A] Chirithy followed closely behind, feeling the urge to talk to Asukazen about what had just transpired with the dying Chirithy.
[A] Chirithy: Asukazen, about what happened back there... with this Chirithy...
Asukazen: I have no recollection of any such event. It's best not to speak of things that don't exist.
[A] Chirithy: (Insistently) But it did happen! You showed such kindness and compassion to that Chirithy. Why are you pretending like it didn't happen, like it meant nothing to you?
But Asukazen did not respond, he had more than enough of the Chirithy's prying and questioning.
[A] Chirithy: I heard your breath trembling when you were with that Chirithy. You felt something, Asukazen, even if you don't want to admit it! You can't keep doing this!
Asukazen: ...
The Dream Eater felt a pang of sadness for Asukazen. How could someone be so compassionate on the inside and so violent and distant on the outside? It was a contradiction, this personality of Asukazen, and it felt so wrong.
The next day morning.
The next day had arrived, and Skuld, Blizzard, and Asukazen gathered at the fountain in the middle of the Unicornis' district. They stood there, each without a backpack, as if they relied solely on magic to store their belongings. It was akin to a pocket dimension where a small space in thin air distorted and shattered into a small dimensional hole at will. By their sides were their respective Chirithies.
[S] Chirithy: Look at this trio of adventurers, ready to embark on their grand expedition. How peculiar that we Chirithies can't join you on this exciting mission.
Skuld smiled and ruffled [S] Chirithy's large rounded head, her voice filled with affection and reassurance.
Skuld: You know it's too dangerous for Chirithies to come with us. We wouldn't want you turning into a nightmare, now would we? We'll be fine, silly. But you take good care of things here while we're gone, okay?
[S] Chirithy gave a mock salute, its voice filled with mischief and playfulness.
[S] Chirithy: Of course, of course! I'll hold down the fort and make sure nothing gets out of hand. Just don't forget about us when you're out there, lost in the throes of adventure, okay?
Blizzard patted [B] Chirithy's head affectionately, his voice filled with warmth and confidence.
Blizzard: Don't worry, we'll be back before you know it. Keep the Unions safe while we're away, and try not to cause too much trouble, alright?
[B] Chirithy slightly blushed and nodded, understanding the importance of their mission and the trust placed in them.
Asukazen remained quiet as he glared at the fountain, his brow furrowed and his jaw clenched tight. His eyes held a distant look, as if he were lost in thought, but there was also a hint of frustration and unease in his gaze.
[A] Chirithy: Asukazen, I...
But Asukazen took out the strange scroll he had received from Foreteller Ira and showed it to Blizzard and Skuld, cutting off [A] Chirithy's attempt at communication. Skuld nodded her head in understanding and summoned her Keyblade. She focused on the coordinates written on the scroll and then launched a beam of light into the sky with the tip of her Keyblade.
In an instant, a blinding white light enveloped Asukazen, Blizzard, and Skuld, and they vanished from the Unions, leaving behind a faint trail of shimmering particles in their wake. The three Chirithies were left behind, watching their Keyblade Wielders disappear on their perilous expedition, their expressions a mix of resignation.
[A] Chirithy felt a sense of sadness as he watched Asukazen leave without saying goodbye, a pang of longing and rejection in its drawn features. [B] Chirithy and [S] Chirithy approached [A] Chirithy out of pity, their voices filled with curiosity.
[B] Chirithy: Chirithy, what happened with Asukazen this time? Did he say something hurtful again, something that cut you to the core?
[A] Chirithy: Yes, it was after the tournament, I went inside his dreams to try and communicate with him. We were in some sort of castle with a beautiful garden, a place that seemed to hold some significance for him.
[B] Chirithy: A castle with a garden?
[A] Chirithy: He told me to go to Hell.
[S] Chirithy: Well, isn't that just a pitiful relationship?
[A] Chirithy nodded, looking sad and dejected, its voice filled with pain and confusion.
[A] Chirithy: Yes, it is. But that's not all. After that, I couldn't help but spy on him inside his dreams, to try and understand what was going on in his mind. I overheard him crying his lungs out on the highest floor of that strange castle.
[B] Chirithy: This doesn't make any sense! Does he hate you or not? Why would he tell you to go to Hell and then cry his heart out when he thinks no one is watching?
[A] Chirithy: It's like he's trapped, as if he's cursed by some unseen force. Unable to do anything positive, unable to express anything genuine.
[S] Chirithy: Well, that's quite a mess, isn't it?
[A] Chirithy: I saw something unusual yesterday. Asukazen came across a dying Chirithy, whose Keyblade Wielder had just perished in another world. The look on Asukazen's face was different, he sensitive, as if he could feel the its pain as his own.
[B] Chirithy looked intrigued and asked, its voice filled with curiosity and surprise.
[B] Chirithy: What did he do, in that moment of unexpected compassion?
[A] Chirithy: He crouched down to the Chirithy's level and asked if it wanted to live on or not. It was a level of kindness and pity I hadn't seen from him before.
[B] Chirithy: Hmm... So, he's not completely heartless after all, despite his violent behavior.
[A] Chirithy: I think I understand now. It's like he's built these walls around himself to protect from getting too close to others, to shield himself from the pain of loss and rejection. Even if it means he could help someone in need, he's too afraid to let anyone in.
[S] Chirithy: It's like one big fusion of Kuudere and Tsundere. So cold and violent most of the time, but underneath, he's a big softie, showing such kindness and compassion when he thinks no one is watching. How utterly adorable.
[A] Chirithy: I wish he would show that side to me. What did I do to wrong him so much, to make him push me away at every turn?
[B] Chirithy: It's like you said before, for some reason, he seems to dislike how we look.
[A] Chirithy: It's a shame. He has so much potential, but his past is like an anchor, weighing him down to the brink of despair and self-destruction.
[B] Chirithy sighed, its voice filled with sadness and acceptance.
[B] Chirithy: No one can force him to change, though. Only Blizzard and Skuld can help him out of trouble if he can't fight his way out without a Keyblade, if he's too stubborn to accept help from anyone else.
And still, the Dream Eaters couldn't help but think about the strange scroll. A world's sphere covered in cheese, impaled by a katana – it was certainly an unusual sight, and they couldn't help but wonder what kind of world they would find themselves in during this so-called dangerous expedition, when the depiction was basically a cosmic joke.
[B] Chirithy: Well, let's hope that this idiot will find some what he want during this expedition, perhaps he'll come back with a new perspective.
[S] Chirithy rolled his eyes, its voice filled with skepticism and derision.
[S] Chirithy: I doubt it. He's stubborn, that one, and set in his ways. It'll take more than a dangerous expedition to crack that shell of his.
Within Unicornis's headquarters.
Foreteller Ira sat behind a large desk, surrounded by ancient tomes and scrolls, with the copy of the Book of Prophecy placed before him. Eager to glean insights into future events, he opened the book and flipped through most of the pages to a random section.
Foreteller Ira: ...!
Only to find that one of the pages was missing – torn out, leaving a jagged edge and a sense of unease in its wake. Shocked and disturbed by this discovery, he had believed in the truth presented by the Master of Masters, but had some reservations. But that missing page... The Master of Masters had been right all along – there was indeed a traitor among them, someone who had dared to defy the sacred text and tear out a piece of the future.
Fear and urgency coursed through Foreteller Ira's veins. He had no time to waste; he had to act quickly. Without hesitation, he opened the window of his office and leaped from roof to roof with great strength, his destination the middle of the Unions, the great Clock Tower. He quickly entered the grand meeting room at the highest floor.
Upon his arrival, something was different. On the large round table, lay a red button that had never been there before. It was a strange and out-of-place addition to the otherwise austere and formal meeting room, a jarring splash of color that seemed to mock the gravity of the situation.
Foreteller Ira: What is this ridiculous button doing here?
Driven by the stress of the situation and the urgency of his mission, he slammed his right hand down on the red button attached to the middle of the large round table as he climbed into it. The action triggered a specific alarm that would resonate throughout kilometers of the five districts – a signal for an emergency meeting with the five Foretellers, a call to arms that could not be ignored.
Foreteller Ira paced around the grand meeting room, his mind racing with thoughts and plans. He couldn't shake the feeling of accomplishment for indirectly making his move before the traitor, planting the seeds of loyalty and admiration in Asukazen. It was a calculated step towards ensuring his position as a proxy and agent, a way to keep the young man close and under his influence.
As the four other Foretellers arrived minutes later, they looked at Ira with confusion and annoyance. The emergency alarm had clearly startled them, and they were eager to know the reason behind this sudden meeting, this disruption of their routine.
Foreteller Aced: What's the meaning of this ear-shattering noise, Ira?! This alarm reverberated from everywhere all at once, startling us all! What could possibly be so urgent that you felt the need to disrupt the Unions with this racket?
Foreteller Ira took a deep breath, composing himself before speaking.
Foreteller Ira: I apologize for the abrupt summons, but there is a matter of utmost importance that we must address. There... There is a traitor among us, a traitor who has already made their move, a traitor who has dared to defy the sacred text and tear out a piece of the future.
The meeting room fell silent as the weight of his words settled on everyone present. The gravity of the situation was not lost on them. Each Foreteller knew that the existence of a traitor threatened the delicate balance and trust between the Unions, that it was a betrayal of the highest order.
Gula raised an eyebrow, looking somewhat skeptical, his voice tinged with suspicion and disbelief.
Foreteller Gula: Is this some kind of prank, Ira? If it's a joke, it's in very poor taste, and I must say, I'm not amused.
Ira's expression remained serious as he responded, his voice filled with a sense of urgency and conviction.
Foreteller Ira: I wish it were a prank, Gula, but it's not. I checked my copy of the Book of Prophecy, and a page has been torn out. The Master was right. There is a traitor among us, and they've already made their move. We need to act quickly, before they can do any more damage.
Foreteller Invi: Are you absolutely sure, Ira? This is a serious accusation. We can't jump to conclusions without concrete evidence, without proof that this isn't some kind of misunderstanding or mistake.
Ira then instructed each of the Foretellers to place their own copy of the Book of Prophecy on the round meeting table. Once everyone was seated and their books were in place, he asked if the copies of the books they were holding were in fact the real ones that the Master had given them.
Foreteller Gula: (Nodding) This is indeed the copy that the Master entrusted to me.
Foreteller Invi: (Calmly) I, too, have the original copy given to me by the Master. It has been under my constant protection.
Foreteller Aced: (Gruffly) Of course this is the real copy! I would never let anything happen to the Book of Prophecy that the Master bestowed upon me. It is my most prized possession and responsibility.
Foreteller Ava: (Softly) Yes, this is the genuine copy that the Master gave me. I have cherished it and kept it safe, knowing the importance of its contents and the trust placed in me.
Without any hesitation, the foretellers simultaneously opened their books and quickly scanned through the pages. It didn't take long for them to spot the missing page in Ava's book, confirming Foreteller Ira's claim.
Foreteller Ira: I understand the gravity of the situation. That's why I wanted us all to gather here and check our books. The missing page is a clear sign that someone within our ranks is up to something terrible.
Aced's frustration was evident as he abruptly stood up from his chair, his face contorting with a mix of sarcasm and seriousness.
Aced: Ira, some leader you are. You managed to plant seeds of doubt in all of us with that revelation. What? Did you expect the traitor to give themselves up with that bold accusation of yours?
Foreteller Ira: My accusation is justified. We cannot afford to dismiss the possibility of a traitor among us, especially when the fate of more than 3,500 children is at stake. The Keyblade War, a genocide, looms before us, and we must act swiftly to prevent that future.
Ira then turned to his fellow Foretellers and looked at each of them seriously.
Foreteller Ira: Think about it, all of you. We have all worked for unity and balance for so way too long. Why would any of us consider the Keyblade War as a good thing? It goes against everything we stand for, everything we've dedicated our lives to.
Aced crossed his arms, still looking unconvinced.
Foreteller Aced: And how do you propose we do that? Accuse each other until someone confesses? This is absurd! We're supposed to be a united front, not a group of backstabbers and liars!
Foreteller Invi: I respectfully disagree, Ira. While we must be cautious, we cannot allow fear and suspicion to cloud our judgment. The Master chose to leave the Unions for his own reasons, and we must respect his decision, even if we don't fully understand it.
Foreteller Aced: Respect? The Master left us all behind because of... milk?! It's preposterous! He should have stayed to guide us, to lead us through these troubled times. And now, one of us is planning something terrible, and we can't just sit around and wait for it to happen.
Ava interjected, her voice soft but firm.
Foreteller Ava: No one is accusing anyone just yet. We need to remain calm and work together to uncover the truth. We can start by sharing any information we might have noticed or heard that could be related to this potential betrayal.
Aced's frustration boiled over, and he couldn't bear to sit there any longer. He abruptly pushed his chair back and got up from the table, letting out a deep sigh of exasperation.
Foreteller Aced: This is ridiculous. Accusing one another won't get us anywhere. We need real evidence, not baseless suspicions and paranoia.
Foreteller Ira: I agree, Aced. We need evidence, and that's exactly what we'll find. We won't rest until we've uncovered the truth, no matter how painful or difficult it may be.
Aced didn't seem convinced and retorted, his voice laced with skepticism.
Foreteller Aced: Well, good luck with that. I'm not going to waste any more time on this pointless meeting. Find your traitor or whatever, but I'm out. I have more important things to attend to.
Gula, who had been sitting calmly all this time, watched Aced leave with a thoughtful expression.
Foreteller Gula: He's right in some ways. Pointing fingers won't solve anything. I believe we're done for now. There's no use continuing this discussion without any solid evidence. I trust each of you to keep me updated if you come across any relevant information.
With that, he got up from the table, looking more relaxed than any of the other Foretellers in the room, and proceeded to leave, making his way back to his Leopardos Union.
Foreteller Ira and Invi remained in the grand meeting room, the weight of the situation heavy upon them. Invi looked at Ira with concern and asked, her voice gentle but probing.
Foreteller Invi: What's wrong, Ira? You seem troubled, even more so than before.
Ira sighed and looked at Invi, his expression troubled and weary.
Foreteller Ira: The meeting didn't go as I hoped. Accusing each other only led to frustration and no progress. It's clear that no one wants to believe that one of us could be the traitor, that one of us could be capable of such a betrayal.
Foreteller Invi: But the missing page in the Book of Prophecy... It's not something we can ignore. How does it tie to the traitor? What does it mean for our future?
Ira nodded, reaching for his own copy of the Book of Prophecy and placing it on the table, opening it to a specific page.
Foreteller Ira: Look. Each of our copies is missing this page, and it's no coincidence. Someone among us has taken that page, and I fear it may be connected to the Keyblade War that the Master warned us about.
Foreteller Invi: But why? What could be the point of such a destructive act?
Foreteller Ira: I can't say for certain, but I suspect that darkness may be at play. It's possible that someone among us has succumbed to the darkness and is being driven by its malevolence, its hunger for destruction and chaos.
Invi shook her head, trying to make sense of it all, her voice filled with disbelief and sadness.
Foreteller Invi: It's hard to believe that one of us would turn against everything we've worked for, everything we've dedicated our lives to. But if that's the case, we need to act swiftly and find out who the traitor is before they can carry out their plans, before they can plunge our world into the depths of the Keyblade War.
Foreteller Ira watched as Invi left the meeting room with a copy of her book in hand, her steps heavy with the weight of their shared burden. Invi turned back to him before leaving.
Foreteller Invi: I promise to keep a close eye on the others, Ira. I'll keep you informed, as always. We will get to the bottom of this, no matter what it takes.
Ira nodded gratefully, his expression a mix of relief and anxiety.
Foreteller Ira: Thank you, Invi. Your vigilance is crucial in these troubling times, when the very foundations of our Unions are being threatened from within.
Invi smiled faintly, a hint of sadness in her eyes, as she turned and departed, leaving Foreteller Ira alone in the grand meeting room. The silence only served to amplify his unease, the weight of the situation pressing down upon him like a suffocating blanket.
Back to the Expedition.
The group felt their feets touching the ground, arriving in the designated world. The brightness of the lightning temporarily blinded them, and they had to blink several times to adjust to the intense light. As the brightness subsided, they slowly opened their eyes to take in their surroundings.
Skuld looked around with wide eyes, clearly confused by the unfamiliar setting. This world seemed like nothing she had ever seen before, and the sight of the modern cityscape left her feeling disoriented.
Skuld: Where are we? This place looks so strange and different from anything I've ever seen!
Blizzard squinted his eyes, trying to make sense of the place. It seemed oddly familiar to him, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it, a nagging sense of recognition tugging at the edges of his mind.
Asukazen's confusion mirrored Blizzard's, but there was something more, a sense of dread and unease that settled in the pit of his stomach.
Asukazen: Do you two see that?! (He asked, his tone tinged with bewilderment and a hint of fear)
They followed Asukazen's changing glare as he turned around, shocked to the core by their surroundings. Much to Asukazen and Blizzard's bewilderment, they recognized this realm as a part of the real world, Earth, from their previous reality.
Asukazen: This...
Blizzard: Is a city, a part from our world, our reality.
Skuld looked between the two of them, feeling a bit left out, her confusion growing.
Skuld: Um, do you guys know where we are? What's going on?
Before they could decide on what to do next, they noticed that the city seemed to have been recently attacked. The ruins and destruction suggested a large-scale attack had taken place within less than an hour before their arrival. Skuld wondered if it was the work of the Heartless, but Blizzard wasn't so sure, his expression darkening as he took in the devastation around them.
As they looked around, six tall creatures covered in black and thorny cloaks emerged from the nearby road, wielding scythes. They slashed through collapsed cars that were in their way, their movements fluid and menacing. These beings had a menacing aura about them, their eyes glowing red, their pale skin ranging from yellow to green to gray. Skuld and Blizzard couldn't help but summon their Keyblades, ready to defend themselves against these unknown threats.
However, to their surprise, the creatures seemed to be focused on something else entirely. Asukazen, Blizzard, and Skuld noticed that the creatures paid no mind to them, as if they were not perceived as threats or even worthy of acknowledgment.
Asukazen: These creatures, I don't understand... They're not Heartless.
Blizzard agreed, his voice low and cautious.
Blizzard: You're right. There's something off about them, something that sets them apart from the Heartless we're used to dealing with.
As Asukazen continued to glare at the apocalyptic state of the city they were in, the smoking clouds from burning buildings in the far horizon, the darkened clouds, he could not help but reach his left hand to his forehead, a sudden and intense pain lancing through his skull.
He could hear a disturbing noise in his nerve, a ringing that seemed to grow louder and more insistent with each passing second. He reached out to his ears, the noise becoming painful and overwhelming, a cacophony of sound that threatened to drown out all else.
Asukazen: Argh!
He closed his eyes, clutching his head in agony, as Blizzard and Skuld's attention was drawn to him as he screamed.
Skuld: Asukazen! What's happening to you?!
Asukazen: T...! Y... E... G...! M...!
In his mind, despite his eyes being closed, he could see a younger version of himself, pleading with a mirror within a steel structure. Asukazen could not understand what his past self was saying, the words garbled and distorted, but there was a sense of urgency, of desperation, that cut through the haze of pain and confusion.
Asukazen: DA...?
Everyone watched in surprise as the door of a nearby building was forcefully kicked open by a man with striking white hair. The door split into two parts and flew forward with immense force, narrowly missing Blizzard and Skuld.
Asukazen was drawn back to reality as the overwhelming headache stopped, allowing him to gasp in shock and dodge out of the way by jumping high into the air as the left side of the door flew in his direction, nearly crushing his body. The six tall creatures in black cloaks focused their gaze on the man, seemingly hesitant.
He watched from below as he was slowly falling down, the parts of the doors that flew in the group's direction originating from a structure in front of them that they had not paid attention to at first. The letters were missing, yet with no doubts, it had to be a store or a bar at the very least.
According to the colored neon light, some were broken or tilting on the verge of detaching themselves, yet the name was clear, a beacon in the chaos that surrounded them.
