Chapter 48 Lost (Aelita)
A.N. – So, in advance sorry for the delay. I was sick and I had no motivation to write so I hope this chapter was worth the wait.
Short Summary – Aelita, not accepting the fact her father is gone, convinces A and Odd to join her on a mission to Lyoko where they uncover a secret plot by Xana.

Aelita's Point of View
Aelita was in a dream. This time though it was longer then when her memory returned. She remembered being in the lab, then in the scanners. The next thing she knew, she was virtualized in the forest sector. "Daddy? Daddy, where are you?"
"Here I am Aelita" Franz responded as he appeared to Aelita as white orbs.
"Daddy!"
"I can't materialize myself into human form yet as you can. I still have more work to do on Lyoko. This world needs to develop more."
Suddenly kankerlots appeared. "Daddy, there are some strange looking creatures over there."
"Run Aelita, run!" The kankerlots started to fire and pursue her. She cried out and one of the monsters landed a hit on her arm. She eventually made it to tower and was safe.
"Aelita!" She drops her pen as she looks up at Mr. Fumet. "As you know young lady, most of us go to sleep at night."
"I'm sorry Mr. Fumet" she apologizes, and the teacher goes back to the lesson.
A's Point of View
The group gathered outside as the previous class ended. Aelita was leaned over a bench as the others talked. A walked over to her. "Something wrong? And don't lie to me. I know you better than you know yourself."
"A, did you see our father at all in your future?" Aelita asks.
"In the destroyed future, yes. He was the only survivor, or the only one I know of, of mankind. Humanity faced a mass extinction event."
"What happened?"
"Your father destroyed the future because of something I did."
"You probably can't tell me right?"
"No, I can't risk you compromising what I already laid the groundwork for. What I can tell you is your father is lost on Lyoko. I found Xana's secret base that he was hiding in sector five and an empty prison cell. Most likely, your father escaped Xana's clutches. We just don't know where he is." A knew that her father was prisoner of Xana. But the one thing she could never do was save him.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita was sitting in the tower, safe away from Xana's creatures. "Aelita" her father called out to her.
"Daddy."
"Aelita, I have to make contact with Xana, persuade we can live in peace with him."
"Who is Xana?"
"A multi-agent program I created. It has achieved self-awareness and views us as a threat and wants to eliminate us."
"But why daddy?" She got no response as her father left.
Aelita was now in the lunchroom. A somehow triggered another memory of her past. If she knew how big of a threat Xana was back then, she probably could have saved her, and her father from the fate that they suffered. Now, Xana was free, and the world's fate now hangs in the balance.
A's Point of View
"Aelita?" A asked and Aelita jumped out of her thoughts. "Still thinking about earlier today."
"Yeah, maybe." She turns to Jeremy. "Jeremy, do you think our father is still alive?"
'Aelita what are you thinking?' A thought to herself, wanting to know where she was going with this.
"Do you think there is a chance of rematerializing him?"
"Aelita, stop right there!" A demanded, stunning the group.
"Why? Just because you're an older version of me doesn't give you authority over me."
"You don't know what you're tampering with."
"The future isn't set in stone. We can change it."
"Yeah, good luck trying to change the mad scientist side of your father. It was that side that led to humanity extinction!"
"What is all of this?" Ulrich asked.
"Apparently A still has secrets left to tell us. So, go on! Tell them!"
"Franz Hopper caused humanity's extinction in the future I prevented by offering Aelita to the Scyphozoa. I intentionally caused by saving him early. He created another AI, believing he learned from the Xana mistake, but all he did was create a mass extinction weapon."
"Then what causes that outburst?" Odd asked.
"If you rematerialize him, you'll be heading down the same path."
"We can convince him to go another way. It doesn't have to go the same way."
"Face it Aelita! You father is, and always will be a mad scientist who didn't care about his little girl! If he did, he would've never done what he did!"
Those last words hit Aelita hard as she ran out of the cafeteria in tears. A sat down with a sigh. "You know you did something wrong right?" Odd says.
"But it was all truth I spoke. Franz cared more about finishing Lyoko more than his own daughter. He subjected me to living over the same day thousands of times so he could work. Maybe in the end, it was worth it, but now it feels wrong. I mean what man puts work above his own children, especially his only daughter."
"Let's go find Aelita." Odd and A leave to go to where the one place Aelita would run off too.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita was sitting alone in the tower. She felt that something was wrong and went to his aid. "Daddy!" She ran out of the tower. "Daddy! I'm coming daddy!"
She then saw a few hornets trying to kill her father. "No Aelita! Get back to safety! In the tower!" She ran back inside before he appeared before her. "You hold the keys to Lyoko Aelita. Xana must never get his hands on them. Do you understand?" The monsters still tried to eliminate Franz Hopper. "It's over Aelita. Xana is too powerful. He's become a threat to all mankind. I've got to shut down the supercomputer."
"Does that mean we'll die?"
"No, but you must not forget me…ever. Never forget Aelita."
"Daddy?"
Aelita was in her old room in the Hermitage crying into her knees. She was dealing with too many issues at this point. She was struggling to understand her past, and possibly dealing with the fact that her father may be gone. But if Franz Hopper caused extinction, why didn't A leave yet?
"I knew we'd find you here" Odd says as he stands in the doorway with A.
"Why'd you bring her with you?" Aelita asks.
"Because I want to say sorry. I came off too harshly, but I just wanted to stress how important it is that we can't destroy the future. If I fail here, there may not be another chance" A says.
"I thought you would be on board with me."
"I want to see him in the flesh too Aelita, but I can't risk the outcome. Right now, we are on the right track towards the future I want to create. But before I can return, we have to defeat Xana." A could've have already left, but she wanted to protect William from Xana's grasp, so for her, her final mission has yet to begin.
"If you want to make it up to me fully, come with me to Lyoko."
"Aelita, I don't want you doing something that's gonna jeopardize everything."
"It's not. I just want to find something. Something that tells me my father is alive out there."
"Well if it puts you at ease, I'll help you."
"Odd?"
"You think we should ask Jeremy first?" Odd asks.
"We don't need Jeremy. The three of us can do fine on our own."
A's Point of View
The three arrive at the factory. The all head down to the lab where Aelita prepares a self-delayed virtualization. "Okay, we'll virtualize in the desert sector. Then, we'll have exactly one minute to get in sync with the transporter."
"You know how to do all that?" Odd asks.
"Sure" Aelita just responds.
"Back at this time, we recovered enough data from sector five to find transporter codes" A explains. Aelita hits enter and the three descend down to the scanners and are successfully virtualized.
The three reach the edge of the desert sector, waiting to see if they made it in time for the transporter. "I hope we didn't miss our bus" Odd says.
"There!" Aelita points as it arrives. The transporter opens up and takes them to sector five.
The transporter opens and the three arrive in the arena. The door opens and the three run. The wall then opens to the core zone. The three arrive in an open area with the key high above opposite wall from them. "Look the key is up there" Aelita points to it.
"Leave it to me" A activates her wings and flies up. As A approaches it she is shot down and lands violently on the ground. Aelita and Odd run up to here as Odd prepares to fire as the creepers appear.
"Energy field!" Aelita says.
"Laser arrow!" Odd says next.
They both destroy the creepers. Two more appear and look to each other in confusion. "Usually Xana's not that surprised to see us, even in sector five" A notices.
"Yeah, it seems like they weren't expecting to see us" Aelita adds.
"Sorry, we're not disturbing you are we?" Odd says as he fires, destroying another creeper.
"You two keep them busy. I'm gonna get this key" A says as she gores for the key again.
As A climbs the wall she takes a big leap and hots the key. The door opens with a passage to the celestial dome. As the three jump on the elevator, Jeremy speaks to them. "A, Aelita, Odd, I know you're there. For your information, while you're having a secret mission in sector five, Xana is using this opportunity to attack us. Ulrich and Yumi are on the scene."
"That explains the surprised monsters" A says.
"Surprised monsters?"
"Yeah, the creepers acted like they weren't expecting us, like Xana planned on seeing us later."
"Uh oh" Jeremy realizes something. "Big problems. Xana was surprised. He's attacking the core of Lyoko. While we were busy with the tower, Xana wipes out the core."
"By the time we got here, Xana would have destroyed us and Lyoko" Aelita realizes.
"Right. Change of plans, head for the chamber room. I'll get Yumi and Ulrich there soon."
As the three appear in the celestial dome, Odd's overboard appears. He hops on with Aelita, while A activates her wings. The three then see three mantas guarding the south pole entry. "Looks like Xana wanted to delay us as much as possible. This is the first time he set up some protection outside the dome" A says.
Odd speeds up towards them. "Odd what are you doing?! This is suicide!" Aelita warns him. The mantas then start firing at them.
Odd quickly destroy two of them, leaving one left. A stares it down. "Go! I'll join you" A says. She flies at high speed, with an orb in hand. The manta fires, she dodges and then collides her rob with the manta destroying. It. She then flies into the chamber to join the two. A flies up into the chamber room and see Odd and Aelita starting to destroy the monster. Just as A is about to reach them, Odd is devirtualized from a creeper. "Energy field!" A says as she fires. "No one gets away with blowing my friends away!" She then see Ulrich and Yumi arrive. Ulrich runs up to Aelita.
"Did we miss much?" Ulrich asks.
"No, just the opening act" Aelita responds.
A creeper appears and Ulrich is missing his weapon. "Energy field!" The creeper becomes engulfed in pink and explodes and the two cover their faces.
"Hey, don't try to blow me away again with those things!" Ulrich comments.
"Sorry, but you seemed out of options" A responds, noticing Ulrich's sword is still missing.
"Just as a friendly reminder, we still have a tower to deactivate, but if you want to collect some new information on Franz Hopper, you know…if you want to" Jeremy asks.
"Yeah, why not?" Aelita responds.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita is in Jeremy's room as he uses the new data and scans Lyoko. "Any luck?" Aelita asks.
"No, nothing." Suddenly, something appears on his screen. "Hold on a second. What's that?"
"What have you found?"
"A fragment of a DNA code sequence that belongs to…Franz Hopper. He is still out there Aelita."
"He's telling us he's not gone yet…"
A's Point of View
A was back in Xana's room in sector five. If there was any information to her father's whereabouts, it would be here. Maybe a sanctuary or a safe place where Xana could not get him. Suddenly a light appeared from behind her in the dark room and a voice spoke. A quickly turned around to see no one there. She saw a custom terminal in front of her with a message. "I am alive but must remain hidden from Xana. Take care of Aelita and save this world." She clutched her fists and would cry if she could. "I will."
A.N. – Okay, so first, let me say that if I remain healthy this week, the normal upload schedule will return.
