Scorecard of what has happened so far:
This story is AU: Harry Potter or Neville Longbottom? Since it was Harry and not Neville kidnapped from the dance it appears the budding herbologist is off the hook. Alice feels bad that her own son is safe.
Behind the scenes, Lord Selwyn, feeling claustrophobic about the caves, decided that Hogwarts is a better site for the ritual. He showed up at Hogwarts with some of the remnants of marked followers.
Some of the recently unmarked show up to help, Lord Nott among them.
Pansy took polyjuice to appear as Draco in order to kidnap Harry, Hermione and Sally-Anne. The youngest Black witch is called Arista by Draco and those there in Britain. Miss Parkinson hoped to take her place as Draco's betrothed. Hah! The two girls are being hosted by Narcissa Malfoy for a minute before being sent home.
Selwyn isn't present when the teens that were kidnapped showed up. Dissension in the ranks? Or plausible deniability?
There are two possibilities in the upcoming ritual. The Dark Lord will be killing dozens unless the forces of Light can stop them. There is a chance for the correct side to win and Harry isn't going to just quit. He might be feeling a bit scared but in his heart, he knew he had to be here. Now. Magic would not be denied.
O.D.D.L, (Order Defying Dark Lords) will continue the work ODD started. Protect the innocent, help free the people still under the previous headmaster's thrall, and do what they can to keep their country safe and dark-lord-free.
Arglwydd means Lord in Welsh, it's in the notes below. Ar glue eeth. Thanks to Fenchurch1 who wrote: Arglwydd is pronounced Ar glue eeth with a hard th like in' then'.

Chapter 8 - Flip of a Double-Headed Coin
~~ODDL~~
Sunday, October 30th, Black Keep
Neville had trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. His friends had been kidnapped from a school dance and his parents were treating him as if he was Fiona's age!
'You're just a child and must be kept safe!'
He didn't blame Draco for the mess - his mother had checked on him and told him about the deceit. Pansy Parkinson was going to be in so much trouble! Well, if they won. At least Sally-Anne and Hermione were back with no harm done other than losing out on a dance.
He went on a walk to the back pond. Neville liked fishing and missed going out with Professor Plank. His herbology specialty was healing and treating diseases of magical plants. He'd taught Neville much in the time they'd been there.
Sirius startled Neville from his thoughts, handing him a fishing pole. A small pail of normal, muggle earthworms wriggled there. Padfoot conjured two comfortable chairs and cast warming charms on them both.
Neville shared, "It always feels a bit of a betrayal to use such useful creatures. These were imported from the area where Cherry Hill stands; brought by muggles from there, no doubt - Allolobophora chlorotica. But the fish like them and we never take them all," the lad baited his hook with one of them.
Sirius looked at the pail. His knowledge extended to knowing that worms weren't insects but that was it. "Alice might have shared that you were upset about not being included in the group going to fight. Are you okay?"
Two plonk, plonks and there was silence for a time.
"I'm not a fighter; not like Mum. She's been training with Ian for years. I get why she's going. And Dan. And Dad. I just think…I want to help! I don't want to be stuck here while my friends are in danger! I could help!" Neville shouted.
They weren't going to catch anything at this rate, but that wasn't why Sirius was here. "My best mate, Remus, is going. His wife is going. If the villagers knew about this, they would feel honor bound to go."
To which Neville added, "Which is why Mum isn't saying anything. I think you, Carmen, Alejandro and Elaina are the only adults not going. And you've said from the beginning you wouldn't go."
"I…I…I can't. I can't face Azkaban again. Did anyone ever tell you why I was in Azkaban?" Sirius asked his godson.
Neville shook his head. He knew it had been without a trial, though.
"Dumbledore, don't ask me which one as they looked alike to me. One of them, I suspect the real one, you know, who had the phoenix. He really liked you, you know? When you were a baby?"
"Dumbledore? Eww!"
"No! The phoenix. Fawkes. Anyways. That Albus saw me send a cutting hex to my cousin Bellatrix. He blocked it and captured her. She's crazy! Dangerous and crazy. I was trying to make the whole world safer. He was all 'killing is never the answer; she's a pureblood witch who needs to live and have children. He made her promise to try and have a child immediately, then let her go when she swore on her magic to do so. That was when I was first out of school and trying to decide what I wanted to do with my life. Albus never trusted me all the way after that and as soon as Harry had defeated Moldy, I found myself in prison with a note saying I was too dangerous to be around people like Harry. I'd be a bad influence.
"And I believed every word. For a time." Sirius looked so sad, his eyes the same color as the distant grey clouds he seemed to be watching.
Neville squirmed a bit, "That's why you're not going back. You fight to put people down. You aren't an auror; you're a warrior. I've seen you practice."
"That's right." Sirius started to reel in, but the clever fish had stolen his worm. He rebaited his hook and cast it into the water. "I can't fight Dumbledore's way. I'm not officially anything. Frank and Alice are still on the auror rolls; Amelia checked. The only one who isn't covered by their law enforcement remit is Remus. If he's charged with anything, he can use his oath-sworn role as Seneschal to protect himself. I feel like a coward, but I just can't face Azkaban again. Will you stay here? Protect us here, just in case?"
Neville nodded in understanding. "Of course I will! Besides, Fiona Elizabeth needs someone watching over her."
"And Teddy and Dan'l." Sirius added. This time it was Neville's pole dipping and it wasn't for a stolen worm this time.
"Mum loves fresh trout. Good. She's not leaving until tomorrow. I can have this made up for her." Neville shared, putting the fish into the miniature portal that would send directly to the kitchen. He picked out a new worm and, with apologies, baited the hook and cast again.
The two fished, talking no more of distressing issues. Sirius called for chilled butterbeer as the autumn day grew brighter. Several more good sized trout were caught by the lad and Sirius even managed a nice American bass the pond was stocked with. Once they had enough for dinner, they packed everything up.
"Thank you, Sirius. For the record, I think you are making the best choice." Neville patted the man's back.
They walked together up to the manor in companionable silence. Both were trying not to worry about Harry and the ritual on the morrow.
~~ODDL~~
Sunday, October 30th, Hogwarts
Since the ritual was going forward at sunset the next day, Harry was asked to act as though he was imperiused to be there and cooperative. It made sense to him and would keep him from being tortured in the meantime. Hopefully.
His job for the next twenty four hours was being harmless. He was reminded that he and Draco were sworn enemies and that Snape would be happy to use his guts for garters.
So nice to be so loved. Sniff.
Moody escorted him to the Great Hall for dinner where he was plopped down in Gryffindor. Putting a rather vacant look on his face, he shook hands with Seamus Finnegan. "Harry Potter, nice to meet you."
Seamus winked, apparently catching on, and introduced him to other young people near his age.
Ginny Weasley blushed bright red and Harry did his "Harry Potter, nice to meet you, Virginia Beasley." She didn't say anything but scooted down a little.
Ron looked as though he was going to object but then the Boy-Who-Lived called him, "Rupicon Beasley".
Clearly, the teen was mentally deficient, that's what he was!

The hunting blinds were conjured and put into place with the help of a Transfiguration Mistress without disturbing the careful runic work on the ward room's stone floor.
All was in readiness for the morrow.
~~ODDL~~
Monday October 31st, Hogwarts ward room, just before the ritual
Dan had his troop back together in Ian's basement, then they all portaled to the ward room of Hogwarts. They were hoping that the castle would help protect the lad.
Tonks was there with hair from both of Dan's daughters. Tonks had both good memories and had played at being the girls from time to time for fun. She could also reproduce several of Hermione's wandless spells. She just had a harder time maintaining Hermione's mane of hair as compared to Sally-Anne's gentle blonde locks.
The metamorphmagus had no idea that Sally-Anne's 'tame' mop came from a lot of magical hair-care products, enchanted brushes, and helpful elves.
Not that any Death Eater was going to be looking at those sorts of details if they got into a fight.
New allies showed up in the form of Arthur Weasley, head of the DMLE, who arrived with Amelia Bones. They were there to help set up the 'hunting blinds' like they had at the caves.
Director Weasley addressed everyone there, "We are facing the potential of a deadly fight. I cannot arrest people until they have committed a crime and we all know from our days in the Order of the Phoenix what we're dealing with."
Amelia took over, "Don't forget your silencing spells. If someone is trying to kill you, you are authorized for lethal defense but don't waste your energy on the killing curse. You not only damage your soul, none of you here likely have the hatred to use it. Use your training. Take an enemy down. Some of us will be assigned the job of portkeying DE's to a secure location where they will be detained, questioned, and given a fair trial."
Frank and Alice moved aside to allow Dan to step forward, "You have all been given new belt shields. Wear them. Use them. We haven't had time to do much mutual training so if in doubt whether someone is a Tango or a Friendly, use a less-lethal option. Now, who's going to act as the teens?"
Tonks transformed into Hermione and stepped forward, as did a witch who appeared to be about as big as Sally-Anne. She was given the polyjuice. "Go ahead and take it now. It will last twenty-four hours or until it's dispelled."
One of the aurors Arthur brought complained, "But there's rumors of a prophecy! Only the Boy-Who-Lived can face him or some such." Obviously a British whiner.
"Harry Potter has been kidnapped for this ritual and it won't be safe to rescue him until it's started." Amelia shared, unhappy that the teen was going to be anywhere near this. He should be at home with his biggest worry being passing the next charms test.
"Who will give us the signal to start, Director Weasley?" Another auror asked respectfully.
Arthur replied, "Perhaps Harry himself. Or…"
"Me. My name is Byron Ambrose. I'm here to study this ritual and to aid in any way I can. Some of you know me as the vampire that was banished from my clan years ago for not supporting the dark one. That coven is all gone now. Not killed by aurors, no. But by that dark lord with the made-up name." Byron stepped forward, grateful they were meeting in the bowels of Hogwarts, far away from any sunlight. "I fought against him then as now."
Dan looked to Rolanda Hooch, "Are the buses ordered and ready?"
"Aye. They'll take the students to the Irish Ministry. They are happy to help as they feel they owe us all a favor or three."
Dan continued, "The minute these monsters start heading for the ward room, the dorms will go into lockdown. The heads of houses are holding a private ceremony for the dead at an half-hour before sunset in the common rooms.
"The minute they are together, they will portal to Hogsmeade and the magical school buses. Four houses, four buses. And we have volunteers from the LoMN for this as well."
"How has this been kept so quiet?" Amelia wondered. They couldn't keep rumors from running around the Ministry. It leaked like a sieve.
"Oaths, Madam Bones. Good ones," Dan answered.
Arthur knew that Molly was going to be in Gryffindor this afternoon. There was just so much that could go wrong.
Everyone then gathered around the Celtic dragon stone mosaic to ask a blessing on their efforts; their only goal was to protect others after all and they were warriors facing the dark.
Unbeknownst to them, up in his 'cell', Harry too was saying a prayer and holding a hand to a now-warm stone.
~~ODDL~~
"Please? Will you help me? I don't want this madman to get out and hurt anyone. I would have chosen the summer…but I didn't choose this. Please help protect the students." Harry wished he could rely on Ruffles the basilisk to help but hadn't woken her yet. He really did want to keep the body count down and had no clue how to let her know who was evil and who wasn't.
He watched the clock and wished he could go for a ride, just as help arrived next to him. First to greet him and then get into place for the ritual. He had a very strict, if short admonition for one of the warriors. All got into place quickly but one friend decided to take an extra minute of Harry's attention. The boy brushed away tears. It was nearly time. Then they were all away and behind the false walls hastily put into place.
Moody was back to escort Harry to Severus whose job was to prepare him for the ritual.
Oh, joy.
~~ODDL~~
In a recreation of what had been happening when he was captured, Quirrelmort was brought into the headmaster's office. McGonagall and Moody were wearing the exact robes they had been wearing the day they had captured him.
Bill Weasley had taken a bit of deaging draught but neither Minerva nor Alastor had bothered. They made sure to face the former Muggle Studies professor away from the still slumbering portrait of Dumbledore.
"Are yer alright there, Professor Quirrel?" Minerva asked solicitously as Bill removed the stasis spell.
That was when Moody drew his wand on Minerva and had her back up, "Well Weasley? Is it really him?"
Bill cast a detection spell, "Aye. It's him." Then went to one knee, "My lord? I'm here to help you." He had practiced this with Moody before and managed it today without the shudders he used to display. "The rest of my family has turned their backs on you and have been cursed for it. I swear that I have a sincere desire to assist you in returning you to your true self."
The timing had been perfect. Minerva, with practiced ease, waved her wand, and Moody's appearance changed from Alastor to Crouch.
"Barty Crouch, Jr? What are ye doing here?" Minerva transformed into her cat form and darted into the headmaster's quarters. Moody, looking like Barty, laughed and locked the door. "She's trapped in there. We'll deal with her later."
"It's good to see you here Barty." Quirrel turned and asked Bill. "I thought all Weasleys hated me?"
"Nay, that's saved fer Albus. He's the worst thing that ever happened to our world." Bill spat.
"We have allies assembling. This way, my lord." 'Barty' nearly choked on those words but he was leading the man to what surely had to be the gallows.
The transfiguration allowed Moody to still have his magical eye which he used to scan the chamber: He saw the flickering shapes of some of the allies waiting for them behind the pretend stone walls. It took all of his will to keep going at a steady pace.
Moody was going to give Potter detention for years, punishments galore for not warning him about this! But his demeanor was unconcerned as 'Barty' escorted the special guest to his place.

There was a knock at Narcissa's Hogwarts chamber door. She was asked to bring the young ladies even though they already had their blood. Sally-Anne and Hermione were safe at home, but their doppelgangers, Tonks and Sally Fortescue, were ready.
Naricssa wasn't happy about it and reminded Alecto that Arista was Draco's future bride and they had better mind their manners.
Alecto so wanted to crucio the blonde witches, both Narcissa and Arista, but didn't hurt any of them. The four of them, Narcissa leading the way, made their way down to the ritual room.
Harry was there, bound hand and foot, lying atop the Welsh dragon stonework that decorated the floor of the castle's wardroom.
"Harry!" 'Hermione' shouted, trying to run to him.
"Hermione! Are you alright? Arista? They haven't hurt you, my sister, have they?" Harry demanded.
"It's been awful and boring! No flying, no dancing, nothing! I've had nothing to do but study as if I was Hermione." 'Sally-Anne' shared.
"You poor thing. At least we were fed. Are you alright, my beloved? I so want to kiss you." That was clearly Tonks wearing Hermione's face.
He muttered, 'if you kiss me, Death Eaters won't be the only one trying to kill you for real.' "You know your father's rule about kissing. I will honor him. And you."
They felt Dan's eyes on them right then. His soldiers, likely disillusioned, were here. Harry had his big bag o' tricks ready around his neck. He was trying to remain calm, while trying to project fear.
And tried to ignore his newest allies patiently, or not so patiently, waiting for battle.
~~ODDL~~
Elsewhere in the castle, unbeknownst to the dark wizards and witches, the evacuation of Hogwarts had begun. Just in case. No one wanted innocents hurt if they could protect them.
~~ODDL~~
The leadership of the opposition was still in question. The order of precedence for their procession to the ritual had apparently involved spellwork for some and fisticuffs for the less magical. Lords Selwyn and Malfoy were of equal rank and led the group with a disgruntled Amycus dead last. A bewildered Quirrelmort, suffering from a wandless confundus charm from Bill, was led to the only chair in the center of the circle. All of the death eaters there bowed low.
Harry noticed that Thorfinn Rowle was sporting injured knuckles. Was the male Carrow's nose bleeding or just puffy?
Harry could feel dark energy from three main sources: one was coming from the north-east corner that was familiar and kind, Duke Ambrose. Quirrelmort, right in front of him, was the second.
The last was coming from a now open box in Selwyn's hand.
The Carrow witch was then motioned up and produced a miniature coffin from her pocket. A very familiar coffin to Harry. It was of walnut wood with fine brass handles. The lid was not cleaned off well - bits of dirt clung to it desperately.
Alecto tried to cast a cleansing charm but she had already cast finite at both girls to make sure they were who they were, causing Arista's clip to fall out of her hair.
Oh, the scorn that brought from Miss Black and complaints to Lady Narcissa: Draco gave her that and this mean lady had killed it.
Poor Alecto didn't know the twins' genius. Casting finite at anyone who had taken this improved polyjuice potion just made it last longer. Of course, Tonks' skill couldn't be countered by that spell.
The weak witch then had to unshrink, levitate, and place the coffin in the ritual circle. Then had to reposition it when it wasn't placed perfectly. Her magic was spent when that task was finished.
Now she was asked to clean it?
Lucius called a house-elf to do so. Poor Dobby! He saw Harry there and couldn't just let him be. The ropes binding him were now as light as could be and would be banished with a cough.
The lad winked a thanks as the house-elf was dismissed.
They were getting ready to start when a runner came flying down the stairs. Dan tensed, worried that someone had detected the students leaving but Selwyn just smirked.
He waved to his lackeys who set up the three portals. Potter portals! Harry would know those anywhere!
Lord Selwyn was sneering, "We're going to have a little ceremony after our lord is risen if he chooses.
"Recognize these Potter? So nice of you to rent them to us. So very nice of you."
Harry's gaze didn't kill him, but the marked minion took a step back. Death was promised in those eyes. To himself and whoever let these off Potter lands. He hadn't been informed of Elam's death, but those in the know now knew why he had died so unexpectedly.
~~ODDL~~
Remus wanted to shout! They didn't do inventory on the portals - little ones like this were stored in their shed and anyone could grab a pair! They were identified with small markings which showed matched pairs.
Hmm. That was odd. Two of the three had markings that showed they were a matched pair. All they would transport would be someone from one side of the large room to the other. Oops. Looks like the oaths to the House had at least prevented showing others how they worked.
Harry wondered who would dare to rent out their lord's portals without permission. Were they going to have someone lose their magic at home?
~~ODDL~~
Severus wanted to be anywhere but here. He had two different cauldrons ready. One potion, carefully brewed, that had the blood stolen from Hermione and Arista Black. Seven drops of Harry's blood went into the first potion as well. It was in an expandable cauldron. Easier than dragging an extra large cauldron around.
The second potion was made from the box of ingredients provided by Selwyn; an exacting potion was brewed in this one.
The chess piece, a black king, floated in the viscous fluid like a drowning victim. It was just too creepy. Snape almost felt sorry for it.
Selwyn, enjoying his moment to shine very much, tried to wear the fake Peverell ring. Scowling at the shock he got, he instead dropped it into the first cauldron. It started to bubble and the marked death eaters drew closer as the magic rose.
Bill guided Quirrelmort to stand: The time was going to be soon. Then, the eldest Weasley backed carefully away.
The cauldron grew too hot to hold anymore. As carefully as Snape could, risking severe burns, he set the potion down just as the pot started to expand. Quirrelmort was guided by Selwyn into the expanding cauldron.
A witch took over the second cauldron and dropped in what might have been a little toe. A pink-painted little toe. She then limped off, handing over the cauldron to a different minion who opened the coffin and spilled all of the second potion inside of it, the black king tumbling.
The wizard looked and wished he hadn't, trying to close the lid. A pale, skeletal hand held it in place just as the cauldron on the ground started to expand.
Harry, wishing he were still silenced, wanted to howl in laughter! Here was Moldy reborn – he'd seen pictures of a young Tom Riddle, bright-eyed and handsome, but his hair! His hair! A full head of it, to be sure, the color of Hermione's lovely locks but twice as wild, long and tangled.
Their poor, poor children. Harry's children were going to be doomed to have such cursed hair.
But the moment of humor vanished in a heartbeat as the skeletal hand from the coffin grew flesh and became solid.
A wizard stepped out of the coffin. One from Harry's nightmares. A wizard with sparkling blue eyes and bushy red locks. And pink-painted nails, not that many noticed.
One of the witches ran up to the man stepping from the coffin and embraced the wizard who she thought appeared to be Gellert Grindelwald but wasn't.
"You're back! I knew it! I knew it!" She said in her native German. "I helped!"
"Thank you, my dear. You've done very well." Albus pulled away from her attempted kiss. She was starting to realize that maybe she'd made a mistake and stepped back.
Voldemort was also looking at himself and conjured a mirror. Several of his most faithful were on their knees adoring him.
Harry, still as a mouse on the floor, was trying and failing to kick his brain into gear.
How had his nightmares become real? At least this Albus didn't sport fangs.
Lord Selwyn looked at his notes and letters. "You girl! Something went wrong! This," pointing towards the resurrected Tom Riddle, "Is Lord Voldemort! I would know him anywhere. Who is that?" He asked, pointing towards the man from the coffin.
The foreign witch shook her head. She really didn't know.
The cultured tone was from a bygone era, "You do not know me? I am Albus Dumbledore. My friend and I rule the world."
"That is impossible." Riddle didn't like this interloper. He wanted to say something, and couldn't remember what.
One of the portals made a clicking noise. Ah. The lone working portal.
The two dark lords were busy telling each other how great they were but the minute they went for wands, Harry was going to react.
"Wand! Now!" Riddle demanded from a kneeling Lucius just as his counterpart took the wand from his sycophant witch.
That was when Harry jumped up, shedding the rest of his bonds.
"I'm giving you one chance, Dumbledore. Put your wand down and turn yourself in. This version of you hasn't done anything wrong yet. Take this second chance for what it is. Live a good life. You too, Riddle!"
Tommy finally recognized Harry, "You! You destroyed me as a babe! You will not live…"
Albus sneered at Harry as well, "YOU! You don't have the strength to kill a cockroach!"
Well, both dork lards hated him. Big surprise.
Soldiers, of the roughest sort, started to pour from the one working portal.
That was when a spectral Skippy had had enough. He only got to come for a few hours. He missed killing Dumbledore the last time. He wouldn't miss this time. He leapt towards the enemy of his friend.
~~ODDL~~
Flashback
When Harry received the Peverell Grimoire, there was a passage recorded in parseltongue. The ring bearer, at great need and to protect the innocent, could call warriors from the other side. Preferably warriors who had lost their lives from the danger that they were being called to face.
Harry felt that Dumbles I & II had created Tom so it was only fair to ask Skippy to come and chew on the resurrected Tom's neck.
End Flashback
Skippy couldn't help but focus on Bumblemore. It was in his blood.
But he wasn't the only one who came at Harry's call…
~~ODDL~~
A few moments before…
Alice was still in shock: having a semi-ghostly Lily just appear as they waited for the ritual to begin. "Lils? Is that really you?"
"Harry didn't want to spoil this surprise in case it worked as we all hoped or worry you if it didn't work. I can only return this once and only for a few hours. But he's going to have portraits made so that we can chat. Thank you for all you've been doing. I know how hard it's been. We'll talk more later." Lily shared quietly.
"Agreed." Alice whispered.
Lily saw Severus see her and knew she'd have to speak to him before she left. He really had changed for the better.
But for now, she had death eaters to feed death to.
~~ODDL~~
Two out of three portals were out of commission but that left one. A pair of arms poked through. One of those arms had a now-active dark mark.
Remus was finally lining up to take a shot. Seeing James and Lily had shocked him but he was standing next to his friend James when the order came.
Dan called, "Tangos active and inbound!"
The first three came through the portal and waited for reinforcements. Arthur's orders were being followed if hated - they could have stopped them before getting there if they had been free to act.
Harry, knowing full well what he was doing, poked the next wizard coming through: Right in the man's dark mark, getting predictable results. He was now blocking the portal from others coming in. His companions seemed to understand the problem and were trying to pull the flopping and screaming man back out.
Remus, James guarding his back, went back to fighting Riddle's followers while enemies dealt with the blockage.
~~ODDL~~
Tonks was done just standing there, now that the fighting started. Amycus had snuck up next to his sister and was clearly planning to take one or the other of the young witches during the kerfuffle.
He got to experience Hermione's self-defense spell personally. While Tonks would love to stand there and interview him about his pain level and so forth, there really wasn't time.
"Well 'sister'? Shall we join in the fun?" Tonks asked.
"Absolutely." Sally Fortescue had already taken Alecto down and portkeyed her to lock up. She did the same for her brother. Her roll was tossing DMLE portkeys onto downed DE's and was happy to help.
Peeves somehow knew it was really Tonks and asked her who he should target for the worst pranks.
"Peeves! You're back! I was so sad…well, target Dumbledore for now, then Riddle."
There was a loud clang as a portkey was rejected, with prejudice, from the castle.
"Was it today that I was supposed to lower the wards? How clumsy of me. I am so sorry." Lucius stated in his pompous poncy way.
He and Severus were now back to back. Narcissa had retreated back to a corner and was casting less lethal magic.
She just knew she was going to be questioned since she was a Black witch and wanted nothing more than jelly-legs or tickling charms found on her wand.
Of course, Yaxley might not think a tickling charm was all that less lethal. Especially while being attacked by something forced into his mouth. He couldn't breathe!
Tonks had lobbed one of the peanut butter spoons with perfect accuracy.
~~ODDL~~
Dan saw more tangos were coming down the stairs. Alice and Abigail, working together, were on it. It was rather fun watching Death Eaters recognizing Auror Longbottom; they knew that death was now coming for them!
Albus looked half done. Skippy wasn't quite as lethal as he had been in life but the targ was happy to chew on him all day long! That was when it happened.
There was Albus, calling Fawkes for healing. What had his feathered friend been eating? Whatever hit the not-very-dear-newly-young-man's bleeding wounds wasn't phoenix tears. Ooo. That had to sting!
Fawkes flamed away and returned with the Sorting Hat. What in the world? Harry held up his hand and the magnificent phoenix dropped the hat, which then produced the sword of Harry's ancestors. The Sword of Gryffindor!
Harry held it up, warning Skippy and Peeves away before he sliced down, beheading the evil wizard and solved Albus' healing issues with one stroke.
Harry didn't notice the spell Unspeakable Croaker cast at the beheaded man, just in case.
Harry then faced Riddle. "YOU! You let yourself be used as a tool for that rubbish! Surrender!"
Unlike Dumbledore, this was personal!
Selwyn cast the killing curse at Harry so the lad summoned the portal in front of him. The spell went through the portal whose end was next to a DE and caught MacNair, who was wielding an axe on one of Dan's people, on the ankle. Harry dropped the portal as that man dropped and closed with Tommy-boy.
The handsome boy sporting Potter/Granger hair realized a moment too late that maybe, just maybe, he had made some poor life choices. The final arbiter of justice was a sword, made for a man whose mettle ran true in this Son of Gryffindor.
As Slytherin's heir died, he tried to cling to life, draining his few remaining marked followers. Since all the anchors were gone he really was done. Skippy switched targets, grabbing the final soul piece. He gave Harry a look that said he'd be back, and tusselled the last piece away to take Riddle to his Master.
As Voldemort died, all of his marked followers there stopped fighting. They grabbed their arms and flopped, just as surely as if Harry had touched them all. To a one, they died.
Only a few had been questioned. Even the ones as far away as Azkaban died. Albus' remaining minions and Riddle's unmarked followers continued fighting for a time. Lily Potter, holding up her wand to the neck of the Romanian witch seemed to bring everything to a halt.
Severus approached her for just a moment. He stunned the foreign witch and Lily gave him a warm hug.
"I…I'm so sorry…" Lord Prince stuttered.
"You're forgiven. That happened in the past. You have a beautiful family, Sev. Be happy." Lily kissed his cheek, then went to find others to say farewell to before they had to return.
Dan's medic and Healer Marius went to work on their allies. Amelia and Arthur bound wounds enough to keep people alive, stunned them, and portkeyed their captives to the holding cells.
Harry gave both of his parents warm hugs, "I wish…I want…"
"Us, too, Harry. Us too." James shared while Lily agreed.
Alice gave Lils a warm hug as Frank, Remus, and James were sharing thanks and handshakes. Remus just went with his feelings and gave his 'brother' James a big hug as well. Abigail was brought forward to meet the Potters.
"Thank you for everything. Harry really does consider you a second mother along with Alice. I'm so happy that he has you." Lily shared solemnly. Abigail tried to hug her, but she was fading fast.
Remus wanted them to stay.
"Harry is going to make a way for us to talk. We're always going to be friends, Moony. Always." James shared. The couple waved sweet farewells.
As the Potters faded, Skippy appeared one more time for a quick pat from Harry. "Well done, good boy. Well done."
The targ then went to Dumbles' body. He grabbed something dark, growled and bound away just as Severus grabbed the chess piece from the coffin.
Ignoring the shouts of the auror nearby, Lord Prince vanished both the chess piece and Albus' body. He would question Ambrose later and make sure to remove any other 'essential' ingredients to bring back either of these dark lords.
"Why do I get the feeling that Albus is not headed to the same afterlife as James and Lily?" Abigail asked, her arm around Harry not quite strangling the lad but she was not letting him go.
Alice agreed, "I do wish that Sirius would have joined us. I think he would have enjoyed that." Alice gently removed Abigail's arm so she could hug her godson and rescue him from the she-wolf.
Byron chuckled, "Indeed. I do hope you invite me to the next dark lord party. I had so much fun."
He pulled a napkin from his pocket and wiped his mouth. Something Abigail noted. "No fair!"

Harry plopped to the stone floor rather bonelessly. It hit him that he had faced Dumbledore earlier. Again. Was it really him or Gellert? He actually wasn't sure.
Harry hadn't seen what happened to the witch with the pink nails who was trying to kiss him. Albus acted more like he had coffin-breath and wanted to wait to brush his teeth. Gah! Did he cheat on Dumbles with more than Doge? With witches?
Wait until old Albie was told that. Or if it really was Albus, then Gellert. Harry planned on telling whoever was on the wall in the head's office.
Perhaps the sleeping portrait would now wake. Lucius wasn't sure if it was of Albus Percival Dumbledore or Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. One of them had taken on the mantle of Headmaster. And the portrait appeared much as they had appeared at the end of their lives. Well, the first time around.
Of course, if it did wake, who would listen to it? It just wouldn't be safe. Unless you were taking 'How to take over the World and Rule it, 101'
Yeah, probably not.

Alice pulled Harry into another hug when he winced. He wasn't seriously injured but had been bruised when Amycus had tossed him to the ground. "Are you alright, Godson?"
Abigail came over, dragging Marius from wounded enemies to check on Harry.
The healer completed his scan, rolled his eyes, and tried to escape. The she-wolf pulled him back.
"He's fine! I've got real injuries here - caused by you and Lady Alice, you know. Harry's just fine. Leave me to my work of undoing yours!" Marius grumped.
Alice patted Abigail's arm, "Let him go. We should help Harry escape now before…"
Arthur Weasley, with a head wound that was bandaged but still seeping came over. "Harry? You were wonderful, but we need to detain you for a time. If you can't afford counsel, it will be provided. You don't have to say anything, but anything you do say can be used against you…"
Abigail glared and nearly pulled her wand but Amelia was there too. "Everyone here is being detained, Agent Addams. It's normal procedure. You'll be well treated and I will be in contact with your co-workers and the family. I promise." Madam Bones reassured.
The American agent understood even if she didn't like it. Harry should be up for the Kite, not being arrested. As for herself, she had come with permission but was not here as an agent of the LoMN. She was here to try and protect Harry.
A few of the hot-heads, who charged in against orders, had been killed but by and large the injuries they sustained were modest. Sirius might not have been there but his genius in the belt shields saved lives. That was certain.

Tonks was the only one there who saw Peeves floating near the ceiling. Everyone else who had been summoned were now gone, but the poltergeist remained.
"You'd best mind your manners and not attack any firsties or Harry will hear of it. No bullying anymore. Promise?"
"Peevesie promise, pranking partner. Peeves promises to swear…"
"To be up to no good. Sure. I'll come visit you from time to time." Tonks waved as 'Sally-Anne' was ready to go. She wanted a bath too.
And because everyone thought Hermione and Sally-Anne were hostages, they were allowed to leave with practically no questioning.

Remus sent helpful elves to track down the lost two portal halves and was happy the elves escaped without injury. Amelia and some of Arthur's aurors went with him to capture the mercenaries and unmarked minions 'waiting for the signal' to invade Hogwarts.
They were upset to be captured without getting a chance to fight. Too bad.
Amelia then sent Remus home. She had his report and didn't care if Arthur got mad about it. Werewolves didn't have the same rights in Britain as he did in LoMN countries like America.

The villagers had heard the oddest rumors from Wales: Death Eaters had tried to bring back the dark one and killed themselves in a terrible accident. Really? Hmm.
They might believe that if Lord Harry hadn't been involved. Just how much did the arglwydd have to do with this so-called accident?
Lord Harry and both Black witches were still missing. What had happened? Honestly, most of the village had been waiting to see what Lord Black would do if their young lord wasn't returned in perfect health.

Hermione was fuming! She and Sally-Anne weren't allowed to go to school today just in case a spy saw them and gave away their doppelgangers at Hogwarts. She understood that, but now her Harry was under arrest! As was her father!
No gratitude. No gratitude at all!

There's a *sirius* situation taking place in Azkaban. The wardens see just one way out of imminent insanity: they ask the Minister for sick leave. In Azkaban, it has always been a one-against-all mentality, now, there can be only one - either the wardens or Sirius Black. Sadly, it seems as if the Black insanity is winning. Crack. AU!
