so this is my first SVU fic i have just managed to start watching from season 6 in the UK after the Netflix launch i have also watched the odd clip on FB and YT. as said i live in the UK so apologise if there are some errors in geography and terminology i am relying on google maps for information
Olivia woke with a start, her phone vibrating loudly on the bedside cabinet next to the bed, the ringtone instantly recognisable at what was to come, turning the alarm clock she could see it was just after 2 am. Sighing softly she reached over someone lay next to her pulling her phone towards her.
"Benson," she said, trying not to yawn. Listening to the voice on the other side she pushed herself up leaning back against the pillow. "Okay yep, I can be there in an hour" she said hanging up.
"Everything alright?" The voice next to her said softly kissing her shoulders.
Leaning back into his embrace she sighed "Crime scene, Washington Square Park" she said."I have to get down there"
" well you get sorted, I'll go make a coffee" he said.
"El" she whispered turning to look at him, her lips greeted by his teasing her in to a soft kiss.
"Its nothing, we all know this job means midnight calls at times. I remember one of our first cases together was a Midnight call out in the pouring rain."
"Thank you" she smiled sliding from the bed tiptoeing across to the en suite.
15 minutes late she walked out of the bedroom clipping her gun in to her holster.
"One coffee" Elliot smiled handing her a mug.
"Thank you" she smiled, taking a sip feeling the caffeine enter her blood stream. She didn't know how she managed to do this for 25 years. 25 years ago she could pull an all-nighter at the station looking at evidence or completing her DD5's that Cragen had demanded be finished before dawn at the request of 1PP or the DA's office.
"I hate to ask but could you watch Noah and drop him off at school?" she asked "I don't really want to wake him and drag him across the City to Lucy's at this hour"
"Liv you don't have to ask of course" Elliot said softly wrapping his arm around her waist.
"I best go." she whispered.
Walking across the hall she poked her head around the door of Noah's room, he was sleeping softly walking in she carefully pulled the quilt over him properly kissing his head. He stirred rolling over but didn't wake. She hated leaving him, not being there when he woke for breakfast or to take him to school.
Driving through the city it always amazed her how alive the city was even at an ungodly hour like 3am. It was no surprise as to why it was the city that never sleeps.
Pulling up at the edge of the cordon she grabbed her shield before walking across the road.
"Benson SVU" she said showing her shield to the beat officer that had been roped into cordon duty.
"What we got?" she asked walking up to Fin who was already on the scene.
"Body of a young Girl, she was found by some late night revellers from the halls of residence.
Looking at the body lay before them, Olivia sighed. This girl could not be any older than 15.
"Do we have any ID?" she asked.
"There was no purse or anything found, Patrol are searching the rest of the park in case she dropped it." Fin replied.
"How much longer, it's almost dawn and we all know the vultures will start swarming and i would rather we told this girls parents" she said.
"Ma'am" a uniformed officer walked up "we just found this in a bin by the chess tables" he said handing her the bag.
Carefully looking inside she found a broken cell phone, a lip-gloss and a school ID.
"Vic name is Caitlin Smart 15" Olivia sighed it was one part of her job she still hated finding Kids it never got easier.
Sitting in her office Later that morning Olivia sighed looking over the 4 case files in front of her. This was the 5th case in the last month they had picked up, all teenage girls ageing from 15-18. There had to be a connection between them. There was too much of a coincidence as to the details of the cases but as of yet they couldn't find a link between any of them. The only think linking them that they could see was all 5 girls had dark hair but they varied in geographical location, education and age.
Leaning back in her seat she pulled her glasses off, dropping them to the desk. It was making her eyes hurt just staring at them, the text just blurring into thick black lines of nothingness.
Hearing a knock at the door she looked up smiling.
"Elliot" she smiled walking round the front of her desk.
"I thought you might like these considering the early start and I was passing after dropping Noah off at school. One sausage, egg and cheese bagel and one large double shot vanilla latte" he smiled.
"You are amazing" she smiled, taking the bag and cup from him, placing them on her desk, her stomach growling in agreement.
"I know," Elliot smiled, closing the gap between them leaning in to kiss her.
Turning away he caught her cheek.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing," she said, stepping around him, closing the door to her office. "Its just I have not told anyone about us yet and I don't really want it to become the gossip of the precinct before I have even had chance to talk to Noah about it" she said.
"Right" Elliot smiled softly.
Placing her hand on his cheek she smiled she could feel from the stubble he had yet to shave. "It won't be for long, I just want to tell Noah first. Besides I quite like it like this, just us" she whispered.
Snaking his arm around her waist he pulled her close teasing her in to a kiss, this time she didn't protest wrapping her arms around him neither of them noticing the door open.
"Liv?" Fin called "The girls parents are here" he said walking out.
Pulling away she looked at the direction of where her friend had just stood, chewing her lip she sighed "I need to go" she said.
"Of course" Elliot smiled, knowing how important this was to talk through things with a victim's family it could provide extra information that could be helpful. "Talk to you later" he smiled.
Walking up to the two clearly distraught parents Olivia gave a soft smile.
"Mr and Mrs Smart" she held out her hand "I'm Captain Benson" she said showing them in to one of the softer interview rooms.
Sitting down on the small grey sofa opposite she looked up at the two parents who had been given the worst news they could possibly be given.
"I am so sorry for your loss" she said "but I wanted to ask you What was Caitlin doing in the City?"
"Umm" Mrs Smart sniffed, blinking back her tears "she was seeing a show with her friend. Six I think it was."
"Okay we need her friends name."
"Lois. Lois Johnson," Mrs smart said pulling out a photo from her bag "they have been best friends since 1st grade.
"What happened to her" Mr smart said.
"We don' t know yet. Is there any reason she would be in Washington Square park?"
"No she doesn't know anyone there" Mrs smart sobbed.
"Okay" Olivia said softly reaching for a box of tissues she kept in the quiet room "so what we need now is, we need your permission to access her Phones GPS so we can track her movements last night and we also want to access her social media see if that can give us any information of who if anyone she was meeting."
"Do anything please just find out who hurt our baby" Mr Smart said, holding his wife close.
"Thank you" Liv smiled softly
Walking out into the squad Olivia lent against the wall, she hated this part of the job, made even worse was the fact their vic was a child who barely had a chance to live a life.
"You okay Liv?" Fin asked.
"yeah. Where are we at with Forensics?" she asked.
"Sweep of the park did not bring up anything. We are still trying to track down any CCTV going into the park. And Warner said she is swamped at the morg so it could be a while before we get autopsy results."
"Great." Liv sighed "It would seem she was at the theatre last night at the Lena Thorn Theater so lets see if we can get the CCTV from them and try and track her movements to the park."
"Yep" Fin said "Also I want you you to know what I saw in your office earlier between you and Stabler I shan't tell anyone."
"Thanks Fin" Liv smiled walking back in to her office.
Sitting back behind her desk she began to look over the files once again trying to find a link between the 5 girls, there had to be one there somewhere where it was too much of a coincidence for there to be nothing connecting them; they were all killed in the same way and found under similar circumstances. If they were not connected it made it all seem even worse that they had 5 killers prowling the city targeting young girls.
