(WARNING: THIS STORY WAS WRITTEN FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY BEATEN SCARLET AND VIOLET, AND SERVES AS AN ALTERNATE STORYLINE. DO NOT, AND I REPEAT, DO NOT READ THIS STORY IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY SEEN THE STORY FOR THIS GAME.
The story for Violet/Scarlet is incredible, and my version wouldn't do it any justice. Plus, you'll be confused if you don't know the story already. This story's a lot better if you know what happens in the original game.
So just go play it or watch a let's play.
I'M SERIOUS.
LEAVE.
GO ON.
GO.
...
Okay, they're gone.
I just HAD TO make a fanfiction for this game, this story's so sick. Especially the end with Turo and Sada, I listened to that song for an ENTIRE DAY. It's SO GOOD. Also, when I saw Nemona say "Man, it feels GOOD to cut loose!" on her final battle with the main character, I imagined her saying that after throwing a punch with all of her might or something. I thought of making a story involving the 'Invoker' device, a item i came up with while writing for other Pokémon fanfiction. Don't worry, for those who don't know, I'll explain what they do in the story.
This fanfic is not a strict re-telling of the S/V story, however. This has my own little twists onto it, so it'll be like a whole new story! I may even pair a character or two with each other if I feel like it or I'm asked to. You'll see.
Without further ado, let's begin. Also, reminder again. Spoilers for Violet and Scarlet.
Also. Disclaimer: I do NOT know Spanish. So, forgive me if I butcher the language when Nemona speaks. If I make a mistake, please let me know!
Chapter 1: The Invoker
The security system to stop the time machine had already been activated.
The walls of the room became as bright and crystalic as diamond. Both Sada and Turo stared down at Arven, Nemona and Penny from a pillar of machinery that erected itself from the ground.
Nemona was the only one with invoker armor on, which consisted of a helmet shaped like a motorcyclist's, a chest plate in the shape of under armor for football players, and steel plated pants. One couldn't see Nemona's face through the helmet's black visor. Nemona's white armor was shining with a crystal-like glow, like she herself was terastialized. In her hand was a fire-type powered claymore.
"Mom! Dad!" Arven cried.
The whites of both professors' eyes had turned black.
Turo put one hand in his coat pocket, and extended his other one. With a wave of Turo's free arm, a metal blade erected from his arm and exploded with static electricity.
Sada crossed her arms in front of her, and jagged claws erected from her knuckles, which were made of the apex predators of prehistoric times' DNA. Their color was an orange and brown stripe pattern, similar to the accessories on her hair. When she opened her mouth to exhale, a puff of white smoke came from her mouth, like a wild beast's would.
"Wh-What!?" Penny, who stood behind Arven and beside Nemona, gasped. "Did they just..!?"
Nemona's eyes grew wide like a child's would when seeing fireworks. "SO COOL!" She cried.
"Dad..! Mom!" Can't you hear me!? It's me, your son, Arven!" Arven cried.
"It doesn't matter who you are…" They both spoke in unison. Their movements mirrored each other as they stepped toward the edge of the platform they stood on. "I won't let you or anyone get in the way of my plans." They both spoke as though they were one.
Turo and Sada moved with extreme speed, seemingly teleporting away from sight. Nemona's look of excitement turned into genuine concern as she sprinted into action.
"Arven-" Penny cried. "Look out!"
In a blink of an eye, Turo closed onto his son from his front, and Sada moved in from behind him, both ready to strike. Penny shrieked and closed her eyes.
The sounds of metal clanging rang in the air, and after a brief silence, Penny opened her eyes. Defending Arven from behind and blocking Sada's attack was Nemona, wielding her claymore bravely.
Penny blinked once she realized who was defending Arven from Turo. "K-Kai!" She cried.
Defending Arven from the front and protecting him from Turo's attack was none other than the main star of the show: A boy named Kai, wearing a white suit of invoker armor of his own and a black winter coat that he tied around his waist. He stood next to his Tinkaton, who guarded Turo's attack.
"Tinka…!" Tinka grunted as she pushed against the AI professor.
"Nice to see you finally made it..!" Nemona cried.
"Of course I did," Kai said, "If i didn't, you'd just go on and on about how exciting this fight was, and how I should have been there..!"
"Aw, I'm so happy you know me so well!" Nemona replied.
The robot bodies of both professors twitched unnaturally.
Penny gasped with joy as she beamed with happiness.
"You take Professor Turo, I'll take Sada!" Nemona cried. Both rivals turned their heads to each other and shared a nod, pushing away their opponents.
Arven fell to his hands and knees. His arms and legs were shivering with fear, his eyes were bloodshot with tears. "Why!?" He cried. "How did it come to this!? Why!?"
-1 month earlier-
A Boy named Kai was sent tumbling onto the sandy beach ground along with his starter, Quaxly. The trainer was wearing a full suit of armor, and his face wasn't visible through his helmet's black visor.
Standing in front of the downed boy was a taller girl named Nemona with a suit of armor. of her own Beside her was Fuecoco, who stood and watched with a blank, happy expression. The taller girl's leg hung in the air, for she had just thrown a kick. She slowly lowered her foot.
"You okay?" The taller girl asked. She reached for her helmet and took it off. The girl had tan skin, brown eyes, dark hair and a green highlight across her bang that hung over her head. "Sorry- I was having so much fun that I may have gone overboard!" Nemona continued, "I have to remember, you're still new to battling!"
"Yup… Totally fine." The boy said. "I can go one more round, just gotta fix my broken…everything."
"All of the damage you took should be transferred to Quaxly. You should be fine!" Nemona said.
"Nemona, I'm kidding. Goodness, have you ever heard of sarcasm?"
"No. Can I fight it?"
"...Are you- are you for real? You're kidding me, right?"
"Yes," Nemona said with a wink. "Goodness, have you ever heard of sarcasm?"
"You're only sarcastic because I taught you how!"
A grin spread on Nemona's face as the boy leapt to his feet. Nemona slipped her helmet back on, then the champion-ranked trainer opened her hand and fire burst to life on it. "Hey- Don'tcha think Invokers are cool?" Nemona said. "We can have two-on-two matches all we want, and we humans get to use the same moves our Pokémon have!" Nemona clenched her fist, and the fire on her palm extinguished. "It's like we're superheroes with super powers! Right!?"
"Speaking of superheroes, I'm super-gonna kick your face in with this attack, Cmon, Quaxly! Water gun!" Kai shot his finger and started running as Quaxly fired a torrent of water from his open beak. Nemona, who quickly picked up Fuecoco , sidestepped the attack, smiled with growing excitement as Flames sparked to life on her hand. Fuecoco climbed onto Nemona's shoulder as the grinning champion-ranked trainer grabbed the arm she aimed at the approaching Kai.
"Dodge this!" She cried, aiming her flaming hand at Kai. "Flamethrower!" A torrent of flame flew from Nemona's hand and straight at Kai. The flames swallowed him completely as he drew near- then stopped like a clogged hose once Kai's fist touched Nemona's open hand.
"Fire isn't very strong against water-types," Kai said, "So I knew I'd be fine if I just charged through. Hope you didn't mind,"
Nemona chuckled a bit as she clenched Kai's fist. Both of their arms began to shake under the pressure both of them put onto each other.
"Oh no, I don't mind at all, in fact, I'm really happy you figured that out," Nemona said.
"Heh. Quaxly! Aqua jet, now!"
Nemona looked up and saw Quaxly high in the air. He dove down toward Nemona and Fuecoco foot-first. Kai pulled away from Nemona, backflipped and leapt into the air. "Air slash!" He called out the name of his attack as he swung his arm, and a wave of razor wind flew toward his target: the sand below Nemona's exploded the on contact, creating a blast of sand that acted as a smokescreen. Nemona shielded her eyes with her arms as Fuecoco tried covering his eyes but couldn't because they were too short.
"Look at you go!" Nemona cried. Nemona couldn't see. Quaxly's battle cry was the only thing that Nemona could hear. The closer the water type came, the louder he'd become- so Nemona could use that sound to dodge the attack.
Time slowed down for a moment as the sound of heart beats rang in Nemona's head. Slowly, the champion ranked trainer took a few steps back, successfully moving out of the way of Quaxly's attack.
Suddenly, a thought crossed Nemona's mind. She shrugged before stepping back into the way of Quaxly's attack on purpose.
Time went back to normal, and the heart beating stopped.
"Sorry, Fuecoco," Nemona said. "This is gonna hur-"
Quaxly's foot slammed onto Nemona's face.
From Kai's point of view, all he saw was a large puff of sand that covered his point of view. Then, suddenly, a watery explosion shot out and splashed him as he shielded himself. Once the water and sand faded away, Nemona and Fuecoco lied flat on the ground as Quaxly, who stood on top of them both, flicked his hair sassily in celebration.
"You did it, Quaxly!" Kai ran over to Quaxly and picked him up, raising him high in the air and hugging him. Quaxly hugged his trainer back.
"Heh... Good job, amigo!" Nemona cried. "You got me where it hurts!"
"I didn't break every bone in your body, did I?" Kai asked, finally taking off his helmet. His short curly hair was as purple as his eyes. He sported a sly smile, knowing full well that Nemona was fine.
He just loved banter.
"Yeah! I'm fine!" Nemona replied. "I didn't take any damage. All of that damage I took just transferred to Fuecoco. You should ask him if he's alright!" The girl's head moved over to Fuecoco, who lay beside her. "Hey, Fuecoco, you okay?"
"Fueeee…."Fuecoco moaned in pain. Quaxly sighed deeply to himself and waddled off.
"I'm sure Fuecoco's gonna be fine!" Nemona said.
"He kinda looks like me when I took your hot sauce during lunch." Kai said. "Remember when I said I totally could handle the spice, put it on my pizza, ate it, then literally died?"
"Yeah!" Nemona laughed. "You were in the bathroom for such a long time!"
"I have no idea how you're able to handle that level of spice!"
"Neither do I!"
The two kept talking and laughing as Quaxly came back with an apple in his hands and an annoyed expression. He waddled over to the fainted Fuecoco, put the apple down, and tried opening the fire-type's mouth.
"So uh," Kai said. "Are you gonna get up, or…?"
"Oh yeah, about that. When my Pokémon that my invoker armor links to faints, a ton of weight falls on my armor. So I literally can't move!" Nemona chuckled loudly. "I could get up again if I had a second Pokémon, but I don't, so I'm down until Fuecoco gets up, or after ten minutes pass."
Meanwhile, Quaxly finally found success with opening Fuecoco's mouth. The water type dropped the apple he held into Fuecoco's mouth and proceeded to open and close it so the croc could chew. Fuecoco's eyes widened with newfound energy as he sprung to his feet. As soon as the fire-type did this, Nemona felt the weight on her invoker fade away.
"Thanks for the help, Quaxly!" Nemona said, slowly rising to her feet and smiling while looking down. She then turned to Kai. "Now we can fight agai-!"
"Nemona, no. Bad."
"But whyyy?!"
"We have school."
"Aw, man! I totally forgot we have school today!" Nemona cried. She raised her wrist and pressed a button on it. The moment she did this, her armor shined before shattering like glass and disappearing, revealing the Uva academy uniform she wore underneath. Kai did the same thing, and his armor shattered like glass, revealing his outfit, which was a basic Uva academy uniform. Blue shorts, a tie and a dress shirt.
"Hey- wait, Lemme show you one more thing-!"
"Nemona. No. Bad."
"Nonono- it'll be quick!"
"Nemona. No. Bad."
"Pleeeeeaaase?"
"I swear to Arceus– You got two minutes."
"Gracias, Kai! Trust me, it'll be worth your while! I'm gonna show you terestallazatio-!"
"I already know about that ya' dunce!" Kai said. "We had a class about it. Power comes from a Tera ball; our Pokémon gets a cool shiny hat and looks all crystalized…"
"…But did that class talk about the second method of Terestialization?!"
Kai blinked and stared in disbelief. "...You're making that up," He said.
"Nope! Just watch me!" Nemona raised her wrist close to her chest, showing a watch that had the invoker sigil on it: a fist with a blue circle around it. She pressed the button with her pointer finger, and her body shined with a blue light. Once the light disappeared, she was armed with a white suit of armor all over again. Fuecoco, who had just finished his meal, looked up at Nemona and leapt for joy, his tail wagged happily.
"You ready, Fuecoco?" Nemona asked, looking down at the fire type. Fuecoco nodded exuberantly and hopped cheerfully. Nemona pulled out her Tera orb and held it in front of her. The tera orb began to charge with energy.
"Normally, you'd throw this Tera orb on your Pokémon to terastalize em!" As Nemona spoke, Fuecoco attached himself to Nemona's leg and slowly crawled his way onto her shoulder. Nemona turned to Fuecoco and they both shared a smile and nod. "But for this method, instead of throwing the ball, I'll crush it!"
Nemona crushed the ball, and it immediately shattered- starlight exploded from her hand like fireworks, and then crystals erupted, an intense pillar of fire type energy erupted from below their feet as the terestialization symbol appeared on the pillar. Kai shielded his eyes with his arm as intense winds blew against him. Quaxly put his hands on his head as though he thought his hair was going to be sent flying if the wind got any stronger. Soon, the wind stopped, and Kai lowered his arm and gasped.
Nemona was now encased in crystal-like armor, and her motorcycle-like helmet was gone, revealing her smiling face. She wielded a claymore, the blade's shape imitated that of a flame. Nemona let out a battle roar, and rays of light erupted from below her feet and exploded, leaving bits of starlight-like particles in the air that scattered like fireworks.
"Whoa…!" Kai said.
"Heh, you like it?" Nemona asked. "This is called Terastal Fusion! Whuddya think? Cool, aint it?"
"Y-Yeah! Hey- wait..!" Kai eyes darted about. "Where's Fuecoco?"
"Don't worry, Fuecoco is right here." Nemona put a finger on her chestplate. "He and I are fused as one! So we're even stronger than before!"
"Okay…!" Kai said, nodding his head. "I'll admit it, You surprised the heck out of me." Kai looked at Nemona with surrpise. "So uh- is this just better than Terestialization?"
"See, that depends on the situation," Nemona said. "Terestal fusion is cool and all, but this doesn't come without drawbacks. Normally, Invoker battles are two on two. Trainer and Pokémon versus Trainer and Pokémon. So, when you use Terastial fusion, it becomes a two on one. Terastial fusion is nice and all, but it isn't always the right choice. All of your attacks are of the type you chose your pokemon to terestialize as. For example,, I'm fused with Fuecoco." Nemona raised the Claymore she wielded and put it on her shoulder. "And so all of my attacks are going to be fire-type, no matter what."
"So if I terestial-fused with a psychic type and fought against a dark type-"
"You'd do more damage hitting them with wet tissue paper," Nemona concluded. "And also, in case you decide to try and become champion-ranked…" Nemona spun her head to Kai. "You are going to try to become a champion-ranked trainer, right?"
"Nemona, you have one minute left."
"Oh- Right, right right!" Nemona said, nodding to herself as though she agreed to talk about that later."Anyway- the gym rules state that if you use terastial fusion with a Pokémon and go down, then you lose. Doesn't matter how many Pokémon you have left after you go down, the battle ends if you lose."
"Oh. So it's all or nothing, huh?" Kai said.
"Yeah. Sometimes it's better to just terestialize your Pokémon instead and have a super-powered ally on your side! There's no rules against that."
"I see," Kai said. "So this isn't just straight up better than terrestrialization. It's for strategy."
"Correcto!" Nemona said. "Plus, the weapon you get kinda depends on the Pokémon you fuse with."
"Is it based on their type? Like, fire types only get the trainer a claymore?"
"Yeah," Nemona said. "Buuuut- Some Pokémon can give their trainer super special weapons. For example, I heard that the fairy type terrestrial fusion gives their trainer a bow and arrow. Kinda like cupid, right?"
"Yeah…?"
"Buuuut- if you fuse with a Tinkaton, you get a Hammer instead!"
"Ooooh…!"
"But don't forget," Nemona said, wagging her finger. "Terestial fusion isn't always better than terestializing your Pokémon. Sometimes it's better to have a normal two-on-two rather than a one-on-two!"
"Yeah, yeah, I get it. Now, undo your transformation and let's go. We're gonna be late."
"Uh, Yeah…. One problem."
"Huh? What's that?"
"Uh…. I kinda don't know how to turn it off."
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO TURN IT OFF, YOU'RE A CHAMPION-RANKED TRAINER!"
"Well, it kinda turns off on its own after the battle ends!"
"THEN WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO TURN IT ON IN THE FIRST PLACE?!"
"Because I thought it'd be cool!"
Kai slowly brought his hands to his face and screamed into them as Nemona laughed at her own clumsiness.
