I have been obsessing over a Neko Sasuke. It this story they are not going to be brothers. But it still will be eventual ItachiXSasuke.
Serendipity
Chapter One:
Uchiha Itachi brought his hands into the front pockets of his hoodie, shivering at the cold breeze that seemed to caress the night.
Behind him, he could hear his friends boisterously laughing and screaming as they clearly enjoyed themselves and swayed to unheard music. It made him smile softly as he watched how the warm orange glow of the lamp posts seemed to light their darken path towards the semi empty parking lot.
It gave the night an eerie, but very calm atmosphere, along with his mood.
"We should go eat, I'm so hungry. Itachi, take us to eat," Kisame called out, rushing to catch up to the fast-moving raven. Itachi blinked when the tall, heavy male came to wrap his arms over his shoulders, pleading with him.
Itachi frowned, trying his best to move away from Kisame when he moved to try and nuzzled into his neck. He wasn't too fond of touching, even when it was just his friends being silly.
"Calm yourself Kisame," Swaying a bit to the side at the added weight he patted the sobbing man's head, trying to move him away from him without seeming too rude. The hoodie of his sweater momentarily fell over his eyes making him chuckle. "Give me the keys."
Kisame eagerly handed the keys over to Itachi, never once fighting him. The others all cheered when they saw that Itachi agreed to drive them. There was never any doubt though, that Itachi was going to be the one driving them back.
Everyone else was already wasted from drinking straight through midnight, tired, and exhilarated from all the dancing.
Itachi really hadn't wanted to come out with them, but they had begged him so much that in the end he found himself going along on their whims. Itachi was calm by nature, so even if he did have a few drinks and flirted here and there with some of those that showed interest in him, he didn't feel the need to take anyone home. He didn't feel the need to search for any sort of relationship, besides his friends.
He was here because of them, and enjoyed their crazy escapades, but that was as far as it went.
Now he looked on in amusement at how all of them piled into the back of the jeep wrangler, fighting each other for the seat that they wanted the most. Kisame being the biggest, was pushed out by Deidara when the blond started to scream that he was too close to his Dana. Sasori, his dana, on the other hand looked like he was just ready to pass out and sleep.
Kisame snapped that he wanted to lay down as well, but ended up taking shot gun when Itachi told him to hurry up or he'd leave him behind. Pain and Konan were pushed up against the other corner beside Deidara and Sasori, heavily making out and ignoring everyone else around them. It seemed that was all they did today, not that anyone else really cared.
Itachi flinched when Kisame immediately blasted music, making the jeep vibrate with the base. He pushed back his hoodie, allowing his long hair tied in a ponytail to fall over his shoulder, adjusting the seating, and the heater he drove off. The GPS was set to the nearest twenty-four-hour restaurant, which seemed to actually be a distance away.
An hour later they found themselves seated in a warm diner, food being devoured, and a much more relaxed mood.
"This club was something else," Kisame burped, setting his soda cup down, "But I couldn't find anyone to take home with me," he wallowed in self-pity.
"I think you need someone to take you home instead," Pain suggested, leaning back as he had just finished a large meal and was feeling its effects. His arm went around Konan who was nursing a cut of tea, and looked like she was trying to stave off a headache.
"Or that," Kisame agreed with a crestfallen sigh. "That would be nice. Why is it so hard to find someone that really likes you for you…"
"Whatever happened to seducing that one guy you were going on and on about?" Deidara asked. Sasori was peacefully sleeping against the blond man, half his food remaining untouched. "Fuck what was his name again?" Deidara scrunched up his face as he too was coming down from his alcohol intake. The slight flush on his cheek showed how hard thinking was for him now.
"I know who you're talking about ugh, man I can't figure him out," Kisame muttered, rubbing his aching forehead. "I don't know whether he likes me or my sword more,"
"What?" Deidara blinked in surprise.
"Samehada?" Itachi asked, perplexed by that response as well.
"Yah, you wouldn't think it possible, but that man is like wow, he can make love to a blade like no other," Kisame nodded his head as if he was making any sense. No one else could imagine anyone doing anything with Samehada without getting shredded to ribbons.
"Made love to you or your sword man, where do you find these freaks?" Pain groaned.
"He fucked so good. The fact that he is young is a total plus and a hot turn on," Kisame rubbed his belly remembering that guy. Come to think of it, he should give him a call. He had his number…somewhere.
Deidara paled, and Pein furrowed his eyebrows confused.
"Wouldn't making love to a blade like samehada tare him to shreds?" Itachi casually asked what everyone was already thinking, dipping one of his fries into ketchup. Kisame tilted his head thoughtfully for a second.
"Not him. It sings for him, he's like liquid, I don't know how else to explain it," Kisame shivered, his mind playing back nights he had spent with his favorite lover. The man melting into him, calling his name as the two of them became one, nights sticky and passionate. Ah, he missed him. Come to think of it, why wasn't he talking to him again?
"You actually sound like you like this guy very much," Konan said, placing her tea down. A part of her was scared as to where else this conversation would go if she left it to the men.
"You should find a way to make him your boyfriend instead of coming out clubbing and looking for someone else," Pain said, rubbing his full belly. He was starting to get tired, honestly. It was almost going to be sunrise and all of them were still out.
"True, I should," Kisame agreed before glancing towards Itachi who was now silently eating his burger. "Come to think of it, how come you didn't try bringing anyone back with you Itachi? I saw that cute girl all over you in there. I thought you were going to get lucky."
Itachi shrugged, "She didn't interest me much." he answered, but there was nothing else that he was going to say about it.
"You mean at all," Deidara grinned.
Itachi shrugged.
They were not wrong in that.
"I wish I had your nonchalant attitude Itachi," Kisame sighed, leaning into his own arms, head resting above them. "Finding love is so hard. It's must be nice to not be in love, and not get your heart broken," The man deeply sighed once more, allowing his tired body to relax.
Itachi had to wonder if he really was that blasé about being with someone. Love, he figured came with time of being with someone, but he guessed he never understood how that happened exactly. He'd never been in a serious relationship to really know. Mainly because he didn't seek it out, and he didn't really care to be with another person.
"You'll get there Kisame, stop sulking already," Pain waved his hand dismissively, "You just got to be patient."
"But I want it now, I want to find the love of all loves. I want what you and Konan have, why can't I find that?" Kisame bemoaned, never once lifting his head. Damn, he must really be drunk.
"Maybe because you keep choosing the wrong person?" Deidara offered.
"How am I supposed to know who the right person is?" Kisame asked.
Itachi felt like that was a valid question, but he also knew that a question like that got a very usual response. One that Deidara helpfully delivered in seconds.
"You'll just know!"
Itachi would say that that wasn't really an answer. After all, it was very open and non-direct towards helping the person who needed it. Itachi had already spent most of his childhood wondering what life was really supposed to be. Why did the world fight, discriminate, or even do what it did when it wasn't beneficial to anyone…
He had an idea, but no clear answer.
"Let's get going already or I'm going to fall asleep here," Pein groaned, getting to his feet. Konan slowly followed to stand as well, stretching as she did. She grabbed his hand and discretely begged him to follow her to the restroom. The man heavily trudged behind her without complaint.
Kisame whined, saying that he just wanted to stay here and die already, that life wasn't worth it anymore.
Deidara on the other hand gently moved to coax Sasori to wake up. Itachi pushed his empty plate back and got to his feet. He didn't want to keep hearing Kisame whining, so he walked ahead of his friends, stepping outside to the cool air and breathing deeply.
Life was simple like this, and that is how he always wanted it to be.
Itachi watched the moonlight silently, when his sensitive ears picked up a strange sound coming from somewhere. His eyes scanned the area, curious. The diner was large in itself, but just across from the parking lot there was a housed off dumpster.
In a blink of an eye, Itachi was standing before it, looking for the distressed and faint sound he was sure he heard. Itachi pushed the heavy door to the side, it stunk inside and it was dark. His eyes adjusted quickly, zeroing in on a small mangled bundle that seemed to be heaving and struggling.
"Itachi!" Kisame called from across the parking lot. "What are you doing, dude? Let's go!"
Itachi looked over his shoulder briefly, "Give me a second," he called back, turning back to reach down.
"Man, there's a restroom inside you could take a leak there!" Pain called out, grumbling when the door to the jeep wouldn't budge. Konan slapped his shoulder in shock of his words. Pain gave her a look, and tried to open the next door, hoping against all that it would open for him. "What, I'm sure he's pissing."
"Pain! I'm sure Itachi isn't doing that." She scolded him. Pain apologized, but really all he wanted was to go home already.
A few seconds later, Itachi had returned, holding something small, dirty, and furry in his hands. The thing fit in Itachi's palm just fine.
"What the hell is that?" Deidara asked, narrowing his eyes. Sasori was leaning on him, finding it hard to stay awake or care about what was going on.
"It looks like a kitten." Itachi responded, turning the creature around. "It looks wounded."
"It's probably going to die, why don't you just leave it where you found it," Deidara haughtily said, turning his nose at it. "It stinks like death anyways."
"I want to help it," Itachi reasoned.
"Whatever, I don't care, keep it, let's just go home already," Pain said, stopping Deidara from saying anything else. "At least let the little thing die warm and in a bed," he burped, and cursed himself for eating so much.
Itachi hated the idea of the little creature dying, but finally opened the doors to allow his friends to climb into the jeep. The little creature remained still and curled in Itachi's lap as he drove around dropping his friends off to their houses. Finally, it was just him and Kisame heading off to their shared apartment. They lived in a private apartment housing that provided underground parking, where they parked the jeep.
From there, they took the elevator to the first floor, and the two silently walked towards their apartment. It was average sized to say the least, comfortable enough for three people with enough room for just Itachi and Kisame.
Once they walked inside, Kisame decided to take a look at the kitten Itachi had found. It was a messy fur ball. It looked like it had a bluish grey coat, matted in what was unmistakably blood. "Itachi, don't let that thing die anywhere near me, please." This caused Itachi to glare at him, "I'm going to bed," Kisame added, ignoring the glare.
Itachi collected his first aid kit from his bedroom and walked into the bathroom. Using warm water and mild soap he lathered and massaged the blood out of the kitten's fur. Concern filled him when he could feel how bony the little thing was. The feel of its ribcage under the pads of his fingertips was frightening.
After a while, the little thing started wiggling against him, wailing, meowing loudly, panicked, but full of life. Its little claws dug into his hand, refusing to release. Its large red eyes seemed to look up at him pathetically, making Itachi's heart skip a beat in concern for it.
Itachi gasped as the claws dug even deeper into his hand, but allowed it. He did his best to make sure every part of the kitten was cleaned, and checked to see if he could spot any wounds. When he didn't, he gave the kitten a final rinse before using his other hand to turn off the water and reached for a towel.
Once in the warm towel, the kitten released him but still meowed brokenly and loudly. Either way, Itachi dried, and looked out for any wounds he might have missed, but as he came to find as he was washing the little creature, there were no visible cuts.
Guess he won't need the first aid kit.
Sighing, he sat at the edge of the bathtub with a hair dryer in hand. The kitten dug its claws into the towel, yowling when the dryer was turned on but Itachi kept holding it steady. He realized that it was scared, that the loud sound wasn't comforting in the least but he had no choice.
He couldn't leave it wet.
His hand was firm, and still, a support for the wiggling kitten. "Shh, I'm not going to hurt you little one, please bear with me for a bit," Itachi desperately whispered, wishing he could do something for the kitten. It finally seemed to look up at him, apprehensive as the heat of the hair dryer seemed to have the desired effect.
It took a few minutes, but once the little one was dry and warm, Itachi wrapped it in a different dry warm towel and cradled it against his chest. Taking a moment to rinse off his bloody hand, he watched as his wounds started to heal until they were no longer there.
He then made his way to the kitchen.
After cooking a few pieces of meat, he offered it to the small kitten. It nibbled on a few of them, lethargically. Looking like it didn't have much of an appetite. "Please don't die little one, you're still too young. You have yet to meet life," Itachi whispered to the creature, sadly. He offered the little one water next and smiled hopefully when the little thing lapped up a good amount of it.
Itachi gently massaged it's suddenly rounded belly, thinking that it looked odd on the bony body. He sighed, and made a decision.
Itachi watched the kitten yawn, causing him to yawn as well. He should go to bed now. It was becoming lighter outside already. Tossing the towel into the dirty laundry, Itachi reached for the kitten and walked to his room.
Closing, and locking the door behind him, he reached for one of his old shirts, wrapping it around the small kitten. It mewed softly, head falling to the side as it was falling asleep. Itachi placed him gently on his bed as he reached for a change of clothes before going to lay down as well.
He then picked up his phone. He did a quick search of clinics for animals and got in contact with one that was rated the top best. Once he had an appointment set up, he set an alarm for it.
Itachi wasn't sure when he fell asleep but noticed that it was high noon when he next woke up. His ears picked up desperate scratching, and turned to see that the kitten was scratching at his door, looking like he wanted to get out.
Chuckling softly, he appeared next to the small fuzz ball, picking it up. It turned to him, looking startled, before hissing at him.
"Calm down, it's okay, I'm only trying to help," Itachi softly spoke but the little creature still had its ears pressed to its scalp, lowly growling deep in his throat, and claws threatening to attack. "Not gonna trust me that easy huh," Itachi whispered, and opened the door.
He walked to the kitchen, once more cooking some meat and this time the kitten seemed to eat eagerly. It even lapped up water just fine, making Itachi smile and praise it. He only got a hiss and a growl in return for his efforts.
"It's almost time for your appointment, so we should get going okay," Itachi said, reaching for the kitten and flinched when its claws dug once more into his hand. It growled at him, its red eyes seemed to be blazing with distrust. Itachi frowned at it, "You know, you're the only one I have ever let hurt me like this," he muttered, but still pulled the little thing close. "Now let's go, we have to go see the vet and make sure that you are doing well."
The kitten hissed, and growled, clinging to any part of the man holding him.
"Kisame, I'm taking the jeep!" Itachi called out as he snatched the keys, closing the door behind him and not caring if Kisame heard him or not.
Once outside, the blazing sun made red eyes look up in wonder.
Freedom, this was his chance. Turning to the man holding him, the kitten bit down on the offending hand.
But the man only flinched, holding him steady. No….no, where was he being taken?
Scared, the kitten looked on confused at being taken inside once more. An odd feeling came over him and when the doors opened once more they were in a darken place with a lot of cars.
Before the kitten knew, it was placed inside a vehicle. He immediately ran to the back, for a window. Hoping any would be open. The sound of the engine roaring to life had it curling tight into a ball, closing its eyes…no not again!
No, it didn't want to feel any more pain.
