Cross-posting from AO3. Once completed, I expect Solstice will be around 100,000 words (over 80,000 is upon AO3). This is the first long fic that I have written in many years and my writing ability have notably improved since I began writing this fic.
After I finished this draft, I am going to rewrite the early chapters and repost it as a separate fic. The sequel, Equinox, will pickup where the rewritten version ends, though you should be able to follow the story if you read this version. I apologize for the inconvenience.
All feedback is welcome. I would love to know more about what y'all liked and what needs improvement before I begin the rewrites.
She'd spent more than enough time imagining this moment — the past few months had been reason enough — though she never thought it would unfold like this.
The very person she'd been dreaming of was now standing before her. Her gaze locked on the soft, brown eyes of her demise.
She should feel sorry for the man whose heart she had broken. Remorseful, even. Though she knew there was no way to be true to him while also being true to herself.
She knew that if she followed her heart, she would be leaving behind the life she knew. But, despite the uncertainty, she couldn't feel anything but bliss. When life offers you a chance so far beyond anything you could've imagined, it's not difficult to take the leap of faith needed to chase it.
She walked forward to greet her future.
