Jack saves Ryan Chappelle in 3x18. With the help of Tony and Michelle he learns to live a little.

AU after Season 3. Jack saves Ryan Chappelle's life at the end of 3x18, Tony doesn't go to jail and the virus doesn't get released. Days later Tony makes the grim discovery of Jack's lifeless body in his home leaving CTU to mourn. Much to Jack Bauer's dismay the whole thing starts to unravel 2 years later.

After sixteen months, Larry decides that enough is enough, and pulls Renee out of her cover with Vladimir Laitanin.

Again, Tony could see that there was no ulterior motive to any of what David was saying. He could trust him. And really…did he have a choice? David saves an unlikely member of Tony's family on Day 5.

One month after Day 3, the unthinkable happens, and Jack watches darkness take over Michelle like he's never seen. The problem isn't that she can't get herself out of it. It's that she doesn't want to.
