AN: So I am at a weird point with this story.

The first iteration of this story had more creative freedom with the lore because certain things hadn't been revealed at that point.

When I wrote this story outline, I was only at Vol 5, so some of the lore doesn't line up with the up anymore. Some of it is minor, and some of it would cause major changes to this story progression. So I either continue as planned or make changes to my plans. Not sure what I should do.

I'm also considering giving this concept a third attempt, calling this story a rewrite isn't really accurate, it's the same concept but really a different story. There are some things I like more in this one and some things I like more in the first.

Don't know if there is any interest in a third version, but first, before anything I need to finish this one.

Blake

Blake was sore after a day's riding on Yang's motorcycle. Yang was in a hurry to catch up with her sister, but Blake was finding the pace she was setting to be highly stressful, at least to her.

But she didn't dare suggest they slow down, she knew how important it was to Yang to reunite with Ruby.

Blake knew a lot of it was driven by guilt over having not been with her sister when she had faced a life-threatening Grimm attack. Of course, all Grimm attacks were potentially life-threatening, but the one Ruby and JNPR had found themselves in had sounded truly like a horrendous one.

Blake had had a chance to talk with Ruby throughout the trip and the younger girl kept going back to the attack, describing it in pretty vivid detail. Blake was worrying that maybe the attack had affected Ruby more than she was letting on.

She hated thinking about what would happen if Ruby hadn't called and Thor hadn't gone to deal with it. But that was another thing she was getting out of the calls, updates on Thor did not sound good.

"What do you want for dinner?" Yang's voice broke her thoughts.

"Canned what?" Blake asked.

"Beans, hash, or ravioli," Yang said, a note of apology in her voice.

Both of them knew it would be canned food until they got to Treble, but that didn't change the fact they both were sort of sick of them.

"Ravioli I guess," Blake said, trying not to sigh.

As they set up camp, Blake gathered firewood while Yang cleared an area for the fire pit.

They were on day three of their projected seven-day trip and the riding situation was starting to get on her nerves. Not that Yang was an incompetent driver or anything, but she was getting sick of riding on the back seat, she just didn't feel like she was contributing as much to the journey as Yang was.

She just didn't like feeling this useless, which is why she usually built the fire.

As she got the fire going, Yang opened the cans. Soon they were cooking.

"So…" Blake began, wanting to fill the silence "I think Ruby might…" she paused, wanting to be delicate on the issue. "I think Ruby might have been affected by that attack more than she thinks it did."

"Yeah." Yang said as she prodded the fire with a stick "She keeps bringing it up, it's like she's obsessing over it."

"I hope she doesn't have…you know, PTSD or anything from it," Blake said.

"Yeah, I've been there, I wouldn't wish that on anyone."

"I mean the way she talks seems normal, but she keeps bringing it up," Blake said.

"Maybe she's just trying to work through something." Yang suggested, "As far as I know Thor hasn't told them yet that he is the one who caused that storm, despite having the opportunity. Maybe she is just working through that to try and figure it out."

That seemed like a possibility to Blake, but that brought up another topic.

"Thor getting any better?" Blake asked, Yang, having spoken to Ruby that morning before they had set out for the day.

"A little," Yang said with a sigh, throwing the stick into the fire. "He's walking around now, but she says he's really lethargic."

That scared Blake. Before, when he transformed, Thor had been better in about a day. They were looking about four days since his transformation and he was still recovering.

It did seem the more he did it the worse the effects were on him.

She wanted to see Thor just to put her mind at ease about how he was doing.

She wanted to see them all actually. She hadn't been especially close with JNPR, not like Ruby had been anyway, but she missed them too.

A pop from one of the cans caused Yang to curse and quickly grab the cans out of the fire with her prosthetic hand.

"Dinner's done." She said, smirking at the fact she had almost ruined their dinner by overcooking it.

Blake ate without much gusto, and all she could think of was how much she missed fresh fish.

They both ate in silence, which was the worst part of this journey when they didn't have anything to say to each other. Yang sometimes seemed like she had something she wanted to say, but she kept pushing it off, and Blake was fine letting Yang work her way up to that topic whatever it was.

"You ready for bed?" Yang asked her after they finished eating and frankly, yes she was. Riding all day, even as the passenger wore her out, mostly mentally.

They had a tent but hadn't felt the need to use it yet, the weather had been fair and the forecast showed no signs of rain so they had just been using sleeping bags.

Setting up their bags, Blake climbed into hers and felt the need for sleep wash over her.

"Night Yang." She said with a yawn and fell asleep almost instantly.

Or so she felt like.

Almost instantly, or at least that's how it felt, she was awake. Sitting up in her bag, she noticed the fire had burned down to embers, meaning she had actually fallen asleep. Looking around for what had woken her up.

Looking around she saw Yang was up as well and was ready to fight.

"What is it?" She whispered as she climbed out of her sleeping bag.

"I don't know." Yang whispered, "Listen."

It was at this point Blake noticed the fog that was rolling through the area, and soon it was so thick she could barely make out Yang's outline.

Then she heard it. A Howling that sounded like an air horn, but with a distinct animal-like quality to it, then it trailed off into a shriek that made her skin crawl.

"Grimm?" Blake said, grabbing Gambol Shroud and getting ready to fight.

"I think so," Yang said pointing.

Blake followed her hand and saw in the distance the glow of the eyes and markings of Grimm. She couldn't tell how far off they were because she had no clue how big they were. But they moved up and down, like a man on horseback.

But the howling continued and got louder and layered, as more and more of the creatures roared.

But they seemed to be moving away from them, and after maybe a half hour of watching the massive horse move by, the howling faded into the distance, and Blake noticed that as the last of the lights disappeared into the distance, the fog went with them.

"Holy shit that was creepy," Yang said more to herself than Blake.

Yang wasn't usually one to run from a fight, but if those were Grimm, and it looked like they were, that was way too many to fight without knowing what type they were.

"I think we need to leave," Blake said.

"Yeah, but I want to check something first," Yang said as she made to head where the lights had been.

"You want to investigate?"

"Want to? Not really, but I think we should."

Blake found herself agreeing, and they both made their way to the sight of the horde.

Once they found the track, it was easy to see the horde had been huge. Leaving huge hoofprints.

"Yang remember the Grimm Ruby described? How they rode on Grimm horses?" Blake said

"Think that was a group of them?" Yang said.

Blake shrugged "I don't know, it's just a thought. We should ask her if they howl like that."

"Well." Yang said, "Let's get out of here."

Blake didn't disagree with the sentiment, but part of her was curious about the Grimm that had passed them by in the night.

But then she remembered the number of Grimm that passed them and knew it would be foolish to try and find the horde. If they were the Grimm Ruby had faced, then they were more dangerous than an average Grimm, and they almost fought like humans.

"Yeah." She said, "Let's get going." And she was thankful that they were heading in the opposite direction of the horde.

Thor

As Thor sat on the side of the bed, all he could think about was the fact something was really wrong this time. He wasn't recovering as he had back at Patch, and he was getting bloody noses with a fairly high regularity. What was more, despite his efforts, the others were noticing at the very least he wasn't recovering.

This made his predicament worse than before. If he didn't recover, he was going to be stuck in this village. He hadn't thought out how or if he'd get back to Patch when he took off. When he took time to think about it, he thought he could join Ruby's group, but that was before his condition had gotten so bad.

This had made him leery of revealing his true self to the others. He'd decided that to do so wouldn't do any good if he couldn't transform.

Blake and Yang were on their way, and maybe if they backed him up he could tell them. But even then…he didn't know, it might just make things worse for everyone.

But right now he needed to get better, or else it wouldn't matter. They would have to leave him behind, which he didn't want, but knew they were already delaying themselves at least partially for his sake. They said it was because they wanted to help with the recovery effort, and he was sure that was partially true, and now they had the excuse of waiting for Yang and Blake. But he could tell they were anxious to get moving again, especially Ruby.

Ruby… Thor was surprised by how much kindness she showed him. He supposed his pathetic condition may have softened any resentment she felt towards him. Regardless, the conversation about what he'd done would have to come at some point.

A spike of pain in his temple broke his train of thought. Rubbing at the spot to try and relieve some of the sensations but it did nothing to alleviate it.

This seemed highly punitive, with these restrictions and consequences of using his power. That had never been the case before. Mimir had alluded to the sacrifice not being enough, but what else did he have to give? He was short of body parts at the moment and not all of the ones he had worked.

His right leg was not healing properly, even before the other symptoms of his transformation this had been an issue, so it may not be related but in the end, it didn't matter, he now had a pronounced limp.

He wanted answers but he hadn't had a dream of Mimir in what felt like ages. He'd sacrificed his eye and gained a slim, instinctual, knowledge of his power. But it was incomplete, the fact he couldn't stay transformed for any extended period of time showed that. But the effects they had on his mortal form were even more odd. In the past, Mjolnir healed him, now it was ravaging his body.

With the increasing intensity and duration of his recovery period, he felt it was only a matter of time before transforming would kill him.

He had to be careful not to use it again unless it was the most dire of situations. His coming to this town, he considered his current state a fair trade for his friends' lives. But the price was high.

He was getting better, but even with aura, it was at a snail's pace. When he first woke up from the transformation, he could barely walk without aid. Now he could walk, even with his limp, more or less on his own.

The bigger issue was how tired he seemed to be all the time now, even after a full night's sleep he was lethargic and prone to dozing off. It went beyond just being tired, he had virtually no appetite, which was a huge change for him.

He was spending almost all his time in the hotel room, he was hardly socializing with his friends.

Standing up he walked to the bathroom and examined himself in the mirror. He needed to trim his beard, it was getting unruly. He also needed to get a patch for his eye, the empty socket was a little off-putting.

He needed a shower too, that was something he was getting apathetic toward as well.

Stripping down, he went and turned on the cold water and climbed into the shower.

Letting the cold water wash over his body he sighed in relief. Cold water always made his injuries feel better. The new scar tissue often felt tight and sore, and his arm, or what was left of it, often experienced phantom pains.

After letting the water rinse him for a while, he started to properly clean himself. It was more difficult with one arm, but he managed.

Once he was done, he shut off the water and climbed out of the shower. Putting a towel around his waist he examined the clothes he'd taken off. They were actually Yang's father's and they needed to be washed. He didn't want to put them back on like this. So he filled the sink with water and started to scrub them as best he could. It was hard with one hand. The task proved to be almost impossible, and it was starting to frustrate him.

A knock at the door made him stop.

"Thor you in there?" Ruby's voice came through the closed door.

"Yes." He said curtly and instantly wished he hadn't, his frustration at his own limitations did not justify being short with her.

"What are you doing?" She asked through the door.

"Trying to clean my clothes."

"What, like in the sink?"

"Yes."

"You don't have to do that, give them to me, I can do them with my laundry."

Thor looked into the sink and saw the dirty water and knew her offer was the better idea.

He pulled the clothes out and rung them out as best he could and drained the sink. Then cradling the bunch in the crook of his elbow, he opened the door.

Walking out with a towel on, the first thing he noticed was Ruby was looking determinedly away from the bathroom door. She had anticipated his state of dress, or lack thereof, and had looked away before he opened the door.

"Sorry." He said, placing his wet clothes down on the floor and using his hand to make sure his towel was around his waist.

"It's fine." She said as she looked at everything in the room but him.

"I'll go back into the bathroom." He said as he retreated into the bathroom and closed the door. He heard her walking and what he thought was the sound of her collecting his clothes.

"I'll get these clean…" Her voice trailed off "Maybe we can go out and get you some more clothes later?"

"Sounds like a plan." He said through the door.

"Okay…sounds good." Ruby said back "I'm gonna…get these clothes washed." With that, he heard the door to the room open and shut.

With that, he left the bathroom and sat on the bed. He felt slightly awkward having Ruby do his laundry, but he couldn't do it properly himself, so he'd accept this kindness as well.

She was too kind to him, it made him feel even worse about what he had done. She was constantly checking up on him, more so than his other friends, even though he shared the room with Jaune, Ruby was the one who made sure he was okay more than any of the others.

That wasn't to say the others didn't stop in to check on him, Ruby simply did so more than anyone else. The fact they kept checking on him with fairly constant regularity made him certain they were worried he'd have another episode like when he'd first shown up.

But in the case of some, he felt it wasn't just his well-being they were interested in. Jaune in particular had been very interested in what he was doing here, and how.

This brought Thor back around to the predicament of explaining himself to them and that was going to be hard.

If he just had a way to show them without rendering himself a completely useless lump, or potentially killing himself.

He'd been thinking about it and couldn't come up with any way to tell them the truth and have them believe him, and with Blake and Yang coming… he'd thought that might help, but the more he thought about it, the more it seemed like it would complicate the issue. They already knew, but the evidence that had convinced them was not available, so they would be privy to his secret but they couldn't tell anyone.

This only left him one option, to lie, which he didn't want to do, and that aside he wasn't sure what lie he could tell that would be believed anyway.

Complicating the matter even more was Ruby seeing him transformed, he'd have to give her an explanation at least.

Thor groaned and put his hand over his eye and lay back in the bed. He'd gotten himself into a really complicated situation.

He wasn't sure what he was going to do, but he knew he only had a limited time before he'd have to come up with something to tell them.

Ruby

"Yang! Blake!" Ruby shouted as she saw her sister pull up in front of the hotel on her motorcycle, Blake holding on tight. Rushing forward she wrapped them into a group hug, squeezing them as hard as she could.

"Ruby! Oh, god I'm so happy to see you!"Yang said, returning the hug to her younger sister. "I never should have let you go alone."

"It's okay," Ruby said breaking the hug to get a good look at her sister and Blake. The first and biggest change she saw was his sister's prosthetic arm, painted in her trademark colors of yellow and black. "Everything worked out in the end." She said looking away so as not to stare at the robotic arm, and turned her gaze to Blake. "So how was the trip? Did you run into those Grimm?"

Yang had called her and told Ruby about the pair's encounter, or rather a near encounter, with that horde of Grimm. Ruby thought, from the description, they were in fact the new breed she'd seen during the attack.

"No, thank goodness," Blake said.

The Grimm had no official name, but a bunch of informal names had cropped up in the town. The near human appearance and behavior led to some calling them "marauders" like they were bandits. That was the most common name but she'd also heard them called "shriekers" due to the sound they made, and "howlers" for the same reason. There were more, but those three were the most common.

The idea of a horde that big roaming around made her uncomfortable, but there wasn't anything they could do about it right now.

"You must be exhausted. We got a room for you guys if you want to rest." Ruby said, "The hotel we're staying at is giving a special rate to Huntsman and Huntresses after we all helped with the attack."

"But we weren't here to help," Blake stated.

"I told them you were part of my team, and they said that was good enough, so if you want," Ruby said holding out the key to Yang.

"Thanks." Yang said, taking the key "But I think we want to get something to eat first, we've had nothing but canned food since we left Patch."

"Oh, yeah sure." Ruby said, "What do you want?"

Yang looked at Blake who shrugged and said "I'm good with whatever."

"Oh really?" Yang said with a smirk "I seem to remember someone complaining about not getting any fresh fish?"

Blake just shrugged, "At this point, I'll take anything that isn't out of a can."

"Oh boo," Yang said.

It was clear to Ruby that her sister wanted to tease Blake, but Blake, either from being too tired or too wise to her sister, didn't take the bait. Ruby didn't know what her sister wanted to say but was certain it involved puns, which Ruby was grateful to avoid.

"I know a place." Ruby offered "It's in the hotel, it's alright, but we get a discount…" She started to say but was cut off by a familiar sound. "No," she whispered, not willing to believe it was happening again.

The raid siren was wailing through the air, and she could hear emergency vehicles.

"Oh man seriously!?" Yang said, her shoulders sagging. "We just got here!"

"You didn't see any Grimm on the way here did you?" Ruby asked, her heart rate jumping, remembering that last attack on this village. Surely it wouldn't be that big, would it?

"No, nothing," Blake said in answer to her question.

"We need to report in," Ruby said, her tone much more serious than normal.

Yang and Blake exchanged a look that she couldn't interpret but it didn't matter. They were going to fight with their hands.

The PA system stopped sounding its siren and switched to a message.

"All Civilians seek shelter. All Huntsmen and Huntresses available, report to the northern wall."

The message repeated twice and then the siren continued.

"Well let's get going," Yang said.

Without another word, they were off.

Jaune

The siren made his blood run cold, Jaune hadn't forgotten the mayhem and chaos of the last attack, but he did his best to keep his composure.

They still had some time before the attack, the emergency crews had told him they had fifteen minutes before the attack was estimated to begin. This confused Jaune, this town didn't appear to have any long-range spotting system, meaning the Grimm should have been right on top of the village.

Maybe someone was outside the village and had reported back? He shook his head, deciding not to worry about that specific detail while he and his team ran to the northern wall.

"Jaune!" a voice came from over his shoulder and he saw Ruby, and to his surprise Yang and Blake, running up behind him.

"Ruby!" He said as he slowed down to let Ruby's team catch up to his.

"Hey guys!" Yang said waving, her tone he thought was far too upbeat. Yang had always been more gung-ho about fighting than him, so he pushed the mild annoyance aside.

"Yang! Blake!" Nora shouted and ran to embrace to two.

"Nice to see you too Nora," Yang said.

Then a howling roar took all the joy out of the small reunion. Jaune recognized that sound as the howl faded into a horrible shriek.

"Marauders." He muttered to himself, which was a bad sign. Marauders were smart, much smarter than other Grimm of their relative size. And what little they knew about them, from that attack and what Yang and Blake had reported, they moved in packs.

All Jaune hoped was this was a small pack, but the fact the sirens had been sounded made him think this wasn't a small group.

In painful silence, they all made their way to the wall.

At the very least the wall had been patched because, in another sign of possible intelligence, the Grimm seemed to be attacking the same spot, where they had previously broken in. Were they thinking that the wall would still be weak? It was, while the wall itself was patched, the defense systems hadn't been replaced yet. The last attack had only happened a week ago and with everything taking so much time to ship supplies, the automated guns hadn't been replaced yet.

That would be bad if this horde was even half the size of the previous one. But where would that many Grimm come from? Especially after the previous horde was so thoroughly being wiped out?

Once they reached the top of the wall, Jaune saw why they had as much time as they did. It was Marauders, but they weren't attacking. They were lining up, as more and more arrived.

Then all at once, they seemed to howl in unison, and a shiver ran down his spine.

Why did this have to happen? They'd just barely survived a massive attack, and now they had another one?

"This group doesn't appear as large as the last." A voice came from behind him. Turning he saw Qrow making his way to the top of the wall where all the Hunters had assembled.

"You can tell that how?" Jaune said, hoping the older man was right.

"Just experience," Qrow said. "But there are more Marauders than last time."

Jaune looked back out and saw he was right, the last attack had been a strong mix of several types of Grimm, from what he could see from where he was, this was almost completely made up of Marauders.

"Oh, man." He muttered to himself.

"It's alright Jaune," Pyrrha said from behind him. "If we stick together, we'll be fine, just stay near the rest of the team, and we'll watch each other's backs."

Jaune nodded and tried to shift his mindset. He'd done this before, he'd survived the last attack…granted he had that freak storm to thank for that narrow win.

As if the current situation wasn't bad enough, as the Marauders howled, a fog seemed to roll in from nowhere. It had been a mild day but the mist seemed to materialize out of nothing to cover the Grimm. In fact, the mist seemed to be alive as it covered the Grimm, and then it slowly crept toward the wall.

"No way." He heard Nora say. "You don't think." She said looking at Jaune.

"They called that fog?" Jaune said. "I don't know." Which was true, but he thought Nora had it right. Fighting in Fog would be much, much harder.

"Don't worry." A familiar voice came from behind him. Turning his jaw dropped.

"Thor! What the hell are you doing here?" He shouted at his sick friend. At full health, he would have been happy to see him, but he was far from fighting condition. He was sweating through his clothes and holding onto the wall with his one arm to support himself. "Get out of here! Go back to the…"

"No." Thor cut him off. "You all asked me how I got here, I'm about to show you." He said limping towards the edge of the wall.

"Thor don't," Yang said, a strong tone of concern in her voice.

"It's all right." He said and before anyone could stop him he vaulted over the wall.

"Thor!" They all shouted. But a second later, a huge Thunder crack shook the wall, and a bolt of lightning fell right down the front of the wall to where Thor had fallen.

Then he saw him.

It was Thor…but he looked…so different. Floating mid-air in front of the wall, something spinning over his head, his arm restored, and in an armor he hadn't been wearing before he jumped.

With a howl and a thunder of hooves, Jaune heard the Marauders charge the wall.

But Thor swung what Jaune could now see was a hammer into the air and a bolt of lightning crashed into it, and then he thrust it out in front of him and a massive arc of lightning flashed out into the oncoming mist, and the howl of dying Grimm rang out so loud it was almost deafening.

Then spinning his hammer again, still in the air somehow, a gust of wind blew the fog away.

The area in front of the wall was littered with Marauders' bodies, disintegrating into smoke. There were even more than Jaune had thought there were. Given the tree line that wasn't completely unexpected, but still, the sheer volume of them made him thankful they hadn't made it to the wall.

But looking from the dead Grimm to his friend, hovering in the air, he almost looked like he was glowing.

Thor looked down at them and the two dozen other Hunters assembled, smiled then looked up as if staring at the horizon, and he threw his hammer.

It flew off at such speed Jaune heard a sonic boom.

Then he landed in front of them on the wall, looking at them. Jaune saw his face was completely back to normal, all the scars were gone, except…his eye. His missing right eye was just a glowing light.

Then Thor spoke.

"My friends." His gaze wandered over the group and Jaune noticed he stopped on Yang and Blake then continued on Ruby. "I think I'll have to leave it to Yang and Blake to explain this. This…maybe goodbye."

As he said this, it was like the version of him standing before them faded into smoke, almost like a Grimm when it died, and then standing before them was Thor as they knew him. Just as tall and broad, but covered in scars and injuries.

He was still smiling as his one eye shut and started to fall.

Jaune was the first to rush forward to grab him to keep him from falling.

"Thor are you okay?" he said and was greeted by silence. "Thor come on," Jaune said lowering him to the ground into a sitting position, leaning his back against the wall. But he was out cold. Feeling for a pulse he found it faint, but present. Turning around he looked at Yang and Blake "What did he mean 'leave it' to you guys?"

"Uhhh." Yang started to say. But Blake was the one who clarified.

"We've seen him do this before." Blake said, "We'll explain everything later, but we need to get him to a doctor."

"Why?" Ruby asked "He just wiped out an entire horde of Grimm like…swatting a fly, they didn't hit him at all."

"Just trust her on this one little sis." Yang said stepping forward to get Thor up "This takes a lot out of him."

Without any more argument, they carried the unconscious Thor to the local doctor.

Ruby

Treble didn't really have a hospital, it was too small for that. It did have a small clinic, however, and they brought Thor there.

Unlike the last time she'd seen this, Thor was completely unconscious. The last time she'd seen him change back from…whatever this was, he had been out of it, but awake. She remembered how after the attack on Beacon he'd been in a similar state as he was now.

The doctors didn't know what was wrong with him, not exactly. They thought he was suffering from some kind of brain injury, but Ruby could tell they were just making their best guess.

But as she sat by his bed and watched him sleep, Ruby thought about what her sister and Blake had told her.

They had apparently seen this transformation of his before and he'd been suffering increasingly worse effects each time he did it.

But they seemed cagey on what this transformation actually was. Ruby felt like they knew more than they had told, like what they said wasn't the whole story. Ruby had tried to push them for more information, but they both had insisted on letting Thor be the one to tell the whole story. The fact there was a "whole" story intrigued Ruby.

But for now, Thor just slept. But she'd seen what he'd done and had her own speculations. None of which were fleshed out, but she thought back to when they'd help arrest him, the stolen equipment from Atlas, maybe there was even more to him than that. Could he be some kind of experiment? Like Penny? A living weapon?

If he was, he wasn't an android like Penny, he was clearly flesh and blood, as tough as he was, his missing body parts and scars were a testament to that.

He really had been through the mill. Ruby recalled how he'd looked when they had first met. He'd looked like a hero out of one of her favorite stories, tall, strong, and handsome. Now, missing an eye and an arm, and covered in scars, he now looked like a grizzled war vet despite only being two years older than her.

There was something oddly in line with the reality of moving past fairy tales to the real world in him. She'd grown up ever since the attack on Beacon, losing a friend and all the damage that had been done had disillusioned her more than a bit. But she attempted to hold onto her sense of hope, and Thor had helped with that.

She was now completely certain that it was him she'd glimpsed at Beacon when she'd arrived to help Pyrrha with Cinder. What he'd done to the Marauders was all the proof she needed, and it was all that was needed to convince her friends of the same fact.

She hadn't talked about that day, or more specifically the bizarre nature of the storm with anyone except Pyrrha, given what had happened had probably saved her life.

Looking at the sleeping Thor she couldn't help but wonder at what was really going on with him.

"Who are you really?" She muttered to herself.

"How's it going squirt?" a voice broke her thoughts.

"Uncle Qrow?" She said turning to address her uncle. "What are you doing here?"

"Looking for you." He said and ruffled her hair. "We need to have a conversation, with you, your sister, and all your friends." He said looking at Thor "Well, all the ones who are awake."

"What's it about?" Ruby asked.

"You'll find out, it's better if I explain it to you all at once." He said, pausing. "Still no sign of him waking up?"

"No," Ruby said. The Doctors had been sparing in the information they gave out on him, none of them was family so they were leery of giving out medical information, the fact they let her in to see him was something of a small miracle, especially after what he'd done several people who had seen him wanted to see him and thank him. "I just hope he wakes up soon."

"Me to…I have some questions for him." Qrow said.

"Does what you have to tell us have anything to do with Thor?" She asked.

"I honestly don't know." He said, "You'll have to draw your own conclusions from what I tell you."

That wasn't very informative, but Ruby decided to just wait for what her uncle had to say.

Reaching out she grasped Thor's hand "I'll be back later, get better, okay?" She squeezed his hand, hoping to feel some response, but…nothing. "Be back soon."

With that, she and Qrow left the room.
