"Ow!" Anton winced, pulling his hand back from the fireplace.

"What's going on?" Frederick asked from the other side of the library, not looking up from his book.

"Nothing!" Peder called over, quickly grabbing the flowers from a vase on the nearby table and dipping his handkerchief inside.

Frederick stood up and walked over. "Peder, if that's nothing, why are you trying to hide that you're wrapping up Anton's hand?"

"It's fine," Anton insisted. "And I won't do it again."

"You really didn't know enough not to stick your hand in the fireplace?"

"Peder didn't think I would do it."
