Prologue
I took a big deep breath of air smelling the freshness of the morning that was promising to bring warm weather. Although the slightly warmer weather wouldn't stop the hunger spreading through every clan. I knew the war had not been pleasant nor was it necessary, because the clans wouldn't settle to talk through the problem. Ever since more and more scents of clans getting on each other's territory, no one could be trusted. All though I knew that some things weren't right. Every battle ever fought all ways rang out a fresh scent of rouge cats. Cats like these were never welcomed into any clan. They were looking for food, and building up forces to get some hunting grounds and take over all clans together. Before this they were never really a problem. Now ever since they were built up by Tigerclaw or Tigerstar they have kept together and built up more forces to attack us. My dreams keep coming and coming the same with more detail every time. "Push for what you believe. And never overlook anything." Firestar would then nuzzle my nose and lead me somewhere. I rushed off for my morning patrol with my mentor Barktail. If only better times would come…………
Chapter 1
I woke up delighted and refreshed. It had been a long day yesterday. My apprentice ceremony was exciting. All of it was fresh, my mentor was Barkstripe and she was fierce but careful and swift. My apprentice name was Willowpaw, like my mother had always said " You remind me so much of the gorgeous willow tree's bark near the lake. So sturdy, tall, but light and sweet.". The clan welcomed me with open arms even, I think that most cats forgot about my kittypet blood. I was a descendant from Firestar, the bravest warrior of them all. The Elders would even talk about how I would be as powerful and brave as him and I would be the new great blessing to the clan. No one ever said anything about me being part kittypet. I had dreams like him as well, but didn't tell anyone. It started as soon as I turned six moons old. My ceremony had a delay due to my leader Dawnstar being away at the moonpool, looking for some guidance. The moonpool was where the leaders went to get their nine lives, and their leader name, and they go there whenever they need guidance from their warrior ancestors. The medicine cats also meet every half moon to speak to Starclan to give guidance to their clan. The moonpool has the greatest leader's, medicine cat's, and warrior's spirits there to give guidance through troubled times. Firestar led my dreams and my last dream was him saying, "Do not look back but use what was back there with what you will see later.". I never could wrap my head around it. As I walked by him I saw me rescuing a kit from shadow clan territory. The kit looked alive but injured.
