He didn't blink, the intense blue eyes focused entirely on her dark green ones. She smiled at him, then leaned over, gently trailing her fingers along his arm, and his fingers twitched.

Bringing her fingers up to his throat, she continued to his nose. His eyes dropped, his long lashes covering the swirl of ocean.

She laughed, and tapped his nose. He wrinkled it, and then grinned, putting an arm around her. Sighing contently, she snuggled into him, breathing in his scent.

She felt his chin lower into her hair, and her heart swelled. Fingers suddenly trailed through her waterfall of hair, and she shivered, her eyes closing halfway

"I love you," she murmured sleepily. Her hand was against his heart, and she could hear it beat slowly, calmingly. It was hers.

His eyes twinkled at the words, and whispered them back, then laid his head against hers, his fingers still trailing through her hair. It was so soft and long. It smelled like roses.

A soft hum filled the hair, and her lips quirked. He was going to sing her to sleep.

She suddenly shivered, from the cool wind and the feel of his fingers on her skin. He shifted, bringing his arms around to caress her, to enclose her in his arms.

She was warm now. His body heat warmed her like a fire, and the soft humming was as satisfying as the crackling of wood. He smelled like it too. A mixture of fresh rain and wet wood.

She longed to join hands and run through fields of grass until they fell to the ground in exhaustion, but it would have to wait.

First the night had to end, and then the rain, and summer had to come.
But for now, being in his arms and scent was enough.
