AN: hi, hello. It's been a hot sec since I've posted korrasami but I'm back for that (late) LoK anniversary fic, enjoy~

"Waif whrat? Youfph strill havn't mert yor roommate Korrah?" Bolin exclaimed in shock with a mouthful of seaweed noodles in his mouth.

Korra spared her friend a look before innocently slurping up some noodles. "...yesh?"

Bolin choked a little before pounding his chest and taking a sip of water. He downed about half the glasses before sighing in relief and shooting his best friend another look. "No way, haven't you been like… roomies for what now? Two or three months by now?"

She calmly chewed her bite enough to speak in a clear voice. "Two and a half actually." She then swallowed her last bite before sipping her water as well. Once she cleared her system, she poked her noodles with her chopsticks before shrugging. "She's just a busy person."

Shooting Korra a judging look, Bolin eyed her suspiciously. "You sure she's real?"

"Well, I mean… yeah? I haven't seen her but there is a bunch of hair products in our shared bathroom." She then jutted her lips before looking up at the ceiling. "She seems to eat takeout from time to time too."

"But you still haven't seen her…" He repeated a suspicious voice with sleazy eyes.

Korra huffed before finally pushing, "What are you trying to say, Bolin…?"

He cleared his throat. "Here me out." He paused for a second before whispering in a hushed voice. "Don't be alarmed…" He paused again for suspense and Korra's eyebrow twitched before she snapped.

"Well spit it out!"

He cleared his voice again before continuing, "What if… she's a ghost."

That effectively made Korra roll her eyes. "Bolin, what part of the hair products and takeout food did you not get? Ghosts can't use shampoo and bring home takeout containers."

"What! I'm just saying, you've been living together for two and a half months yet you still haven't even laid eyes on her! Is she even a she?"

"I mean, that's part of the contract so yeah."

"And how do you know she's not scammin' and foolin' yah? Better yet, what if she's a criminal!"

Korra sighed again. "Look, if she wanted to rob me by now she would have."

"Hey, you don't know her. What if she's planning something big!"

Snorting at that, Korra began eating her noodles again. "Like what?"

"Like… stealing your identity!"

She slurped up even more noodles before mindlessly chewing away. "Mmhmm… she'll definitely steal my identities from all the ones out there."

"Hey, it's a legit concern Korra! You don't know what kind of person she is."

"Stop overreacting. I'm pretty sure I know her more than you."

"Oh yeah?" He challenged, "Tell me three things about her."

Korra shrunk a little in her seat before clearing her throat. "Well… she's an early bird."

"Uhuh…"

"And a night owl." She added before eating one of the now cold dumplings on the table.

"Uh-huh," Bolin blinked, clearly not impressed, before waving his hand randomly at his friend. "All I'm getting is that she's a zombie that doesn't sleep."

"Excuse you," Korra found herself defending for whatever reason. "She's a hard worker, thank you very much."

He simply tsked with a wag of his finger. "And…? For all you know, she might be a hard-working murderer! Do you even know her name?"

"Oh brother…" Korra shifted in place before crossing her legs. "And yeah. Her name's Asami…" She said without hesitation before adding. "...or Asamay or Alami or something like that." Bolin gave her a look of disapproval before she swatted her hand dismissively and added, "Besides, in the first place, would a murderer even have sloppy handwriting? They have to read their horrid plans somehow."

"They might." He shrugged before rubbing his chin, "We can ask Mako." Korra sighed before he added, "And how do you know what her handwriting is like even though you've never met her?"

"We leave each other messages on the communal whiteboard obviously you dingus." She sipped on her soup before flicking her chopsticks at him. "In case of important messages like if the landlord is shutting the water off for maintenance or if the complex needs to rest the power or something like that."

"Ah."

"Mmhmm."

They both resumed eating their meals and once they were finished, they paid the bill before heading out. Since Narook's was just a five-minute walk from their gym, they headed back to grab their stuff before going their separate ways. Since Bolin lived on the top floor, Korra swung her duffel bag over her shoulder before hopping onto her bike.

"I'll see you tomorrow then Bolin."

He just waved at her while leaning on the way. "Try not to get murdered!"

Rolling her eyes, Korra pushed off before joking back. "No promises!"

By the time Korra was home, not to her surprise, her roommate still wasn't home yet. She walked inside their dark, shared apartment before flipping ob the lights and kicking off her shoes. She quickly lugged her bike inside and carefully carried it into her room before hanging it on the mount on the wall.

After that was secure, she grabbed a change of clothes before heading inside the shower. She briskly washed off the sweat and grime from the day and after she had dried up, she paused in the living room before eyeing the whiteboard on the fridge. She thought about leaving a silly message, something along the lines of 'You're not a murderer are you?' but that was too silly and they barely had an acquaintanceship let alone that type of relationship.

She quickly dismissed that thought before heading to bed.

Since she got off a late shift at the gym and had a bright and early shift at her cafe job, she planned to get as much sleep as possible. After she set multiple alarms, she practically knocked out the second her head hit the pillow. What she wasn't expecting though, was waking up to this loud noise coming from outside her window.

Her eyes practically shot open before she quickly sat up. As expected, her eyes were burning and dry but she forced herself out of bed when she confirmed that that noise was coming from her balcony. That only meant one thing, an intruder. Perhaps it was a robber at best but she'd be damned if it was a killer.

Korra shook her head.

That silly talk with Bolin was putting weird thoughts in her head and all she had to do was say hi with her fist to solve the problem. She crept her way over to the sliding door and the closer she got, the more tension she felt in the air. She held her breath and the second the door began to slide open, she raised her fists.

That's when the intruder looked up and made eye contact with her.

Korra reacted first and she threw a punch which made them flinch. By some miracle on their behalf, they narrowly dodged it before trying to speak. "Wait! This is a misunderstanding!"

So she was a woman.

She couldn't care less though.

"You can explain after I put you behind bars!"

Korra widened her stance before striking the intruder again. To her annoyance, she was pretty good and managed to parry her attacks a few times. The odd part about this whole situation though was that she wasn't attacking back and the second Korra let her guard down, the trespasser took advantage of it and rammed into her body.

That shocked Korra and she went flying backward before slamming onto the floor with a heavy thud. However, just as she was about to counterattack with her legs, the intruder quickly jumped on top of her and pinned down her arms above her head.

"Will you just hear me out for a sec!"

Korra growled lightly before wiggling in place. "The hell I will you intruder!"

The trespasser just grounded her hips firmly, straddling Korra dominantly before trying to persuade her again. "Korra, just relax, it's me! You're roommate, Asami!"

That made Korra do a double take. "What the fuck—" She finally stopped trashing about before squinting her eyes.

Obviously, Korra didn't recognize her since they'd never officially met. The only benefit of the doubt she could give her was that their names were the same and that her so-called roommate Asami knew her name as well. Technically at least. Korra wasn't even a hundred percent sure that her roommate knew her name since she barely knew hers in the first place.

"And how do I know you are my roommate?" Korra suspiciously asked. "We've never even met each other face to face before."

Her mouth parted in panic. "That's…" She briefly looked up at the ceiling before thinking of something. "Ask me something only your roommate would know."

Korra just glared at her before spitting out a random question. "How many hair products are in our bathroom?"

"Including yours or just mine?" She clarified with a rise of the brow.

"Yours."

"Easy, two shampoos, three conditioners, two oil essences, and an anti-frizz wash."

To be honest, Korra had no idea how many products her roommate owned but that sounded about right. She only hummed thoughtfully, pretending she knew the answer but even then, she was still in denial. "What type of takeout food do you bring back the most?" She challenged back, knowing that her roommate only really got take-out from two restaurants.

The intruder had a neutral face as she easily answered the question. "Flameo's Hot Wings and the Flying Bison."

Okay, she got her there. Korra had to admit, that sounded like her roommate. A tense moment hung in the air before she eventually sighed and reluctantly agreed to her self-proclaimed role. "Okay… let's say you are my roommate."

"I am." She insisted in a firm yet harmless voice.

Ignoring that tone, Korra gave her the stink eye. "Why the hell are you breaking into my room?" She glanced at the clock before adding, "At four fucking AM at that?"

Her comment seemed to have made their roommate shy. "That's…" She sighed before finally releasing Korra's arms and covering her face in embarrassment. "I forgot my keys…"

"And you couldn't have just texted me or the landlord like a normal person?"

"I did try!" She insisted with a frown. "But the landlord sleeps like an ancient walrus and well, I don't have your number." Her frown turned into a pout before she added, "And for your information, I did knock on the door but since you never came, I assumed you were asleep."

Right, she forgot about that and that was a very fair point.

"Couldn't you just have … I don't know, spend the night in a hotel or something?"

"Believe me, I would have but I left behind an important document in my room that I need for tomorrow morning. It's not something I can get another copy of since I only have a physical copy of it."

There was some honest remorse in her light green eyes and Korra found herself getting mesmerized by them. Hell, now that Korra was getting a closer look at her roommate… the moonlight was doing her justice, and damn, being blunt, she was hot. Not what she imagined at all from that sloppy, doctor-like handwriting and unnecessary amount of bathroom products.

It made sense though.

She did have the freaking most beautiful, luscious, and breathtaking, raven-black, long hair out there. It took a second for Korra to realize that she was checking her roommate out and that immediately it made her take a mental step back. She cleared her throat before asking in a playful yet light-hearted voice.

"So… are you gonna get off of me anytime soon?"

That made her roommate's cheeks turn bright pink, which was so fucking adorable, before quickly dismounting her waist.

"Oh— s-sorry!"

Wow, she was actually fumbling around like a newborn giraffe, and fuck, that was cute.

"Oh gosh, I'm so sorry!" Once she was on her feet like a normal human being, she grabbed her face before looking at Korra embarrassingly. "I can't believe myself… Sorry for like… everything. Breaking into your room and uh… pinning you down."

Snorting at that comment, Korra sat up to save whatever grace she had left. "No worries. Heck, you're not too shabby yourself actually. It's been a while since someone's gotten the better of me when it comes to fighting."

Her roommate gave her a bashful smile. "I've been in self-defense classes since I was this tall." She brought her hand up to her waist level. "My dad made sure I could defend myself."

Korra nodded to that. "Smart man."

"He is," she smiled warmly at the compliment before straightening up and clearing her throat. "I know we've been roommates for a little more than two months now and this is our first time meeting which isn't exactly… the most ideal situation but I hope this doesn't start us on bad footing since I'd like to be on good terms with you and well, I'm sincerely sorry for breaking in and invading your privacy." She then raised her hand to offer a handshake. "I'd like to formally introduce myself as your roommate if you'd let me. My name's Asami."

Blinking once, Korra looked at her hand before smiling and accepting the shake. "I'm happy as long as you're not a murder—" She cut herself off before awkwardly rubbing her neck. "Er, well not a robber."

Asami didn't miss Korra's word before chuckling at that. "I can assure you I'm not a robber let alone a murderer."

Korra shot her a lopsided grin. "Good to know. Nice to finally meet my ghost roommate after two months. I'm Korra by the way, your average gym rat and part-time barista."

"Likewise," Asami shook her hand more firmly before letting go and giving a teasing wink and smile. "Glad to know you're not a murderer too."

Not expecting that comment, it made Korra laugh out loud.

In return, Asami smiled again before finally nodding her head toward the door. "Well, I should probably get going so you can catch some sleep."

Korra was about to agree before cutting her off when she turned around. "Wait! What's your number?" Asami turned around, giving her this look, before she answered her unasked question. "So I don't mistake you for a robber again."

Asami let out a soft laugh. "Right."

They quickly exchanged numbers and once that was done, Asami awkwardly helped herself out of Korra's room. She paused at the door before speaking to her one last time. "Nice to meet you again Korra. Sorry for the whole breaking-in thing."

"Don't sweat it, no harm, no foul." Korra dismissed before waving her off. "Good night Asami."

Asami nodded and smiled at her sweetly. "Good night Korra."

And just like that, she left the room and shut the door. Korra sat back down on her bed before lying down. The only sad part now was that she was completely wide awake. What was the point of going back to sleep? She needed to get up in an hour anyway. She sighed before rolling onto her side and thinking about her roommate.

"Her eyes were really pretty…"

Shaking her head, Korra sat back up before pulling out her phone. She ended up texting Bolin an update about her roommate since she had finally seen her for the first time in two months of living together in their shared apartment.

So… turns out my roommate is a really hot babe.

Korra laughed at the silliness before pulling up Instagram. Maybe she could find Asami there and get a good look at her face not in the dark. Who knows? Maybe they could get close enough to call each other friends instead of that roommate I never see around. There was no rush though, they had all the time in the world since their apartment contract lease was for a year so she had about ten months at the minimum to get to know her. She looked down at her phone again before sending Bolin another text.

And she's not a murderer.
